Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4Xe and 2022-2026 Grand Cherokee 4Xe vehicles. The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.

Risk. A vehicle fire can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures and not to charge their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Dealers will update the high voltage battery software, and replace the high voltage battery, as necessary, free of charge. Some owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 17, 2025. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."

Risk. Head restraints that do not lock can result in an increased risk of injury to seat occupants during a crash.

The blower motor may fail, which can cause the defrosting and defogging system to be inoperative. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems."

Risk. An inoperative windshield defrosting and defogging system may decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. An improperly secured connector for the front seat side air bags (SAB) may prevent the air bags from deploying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

Risk. An air bag that does not deploy during a crash increases the risk of injury.

After receiving the 68C update my vehicle has had a constant power drain from the high voltage battery that lessens the advertised mileage in all electric mode. In addition, the power output in all electric mode is severely reduced and poses a safety issue when attempting to merge into traffic or when having to accelerate to avoid a hazard.

On October 23, 2026, my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe unexpectedly lost propulsion. Before this incident, it intermittently shifted very harshly at 40–60 mph while I maintained steady accelerator pressure. That day, a “SERV 4WD” warning appeared and the vehicle tugged and jerked during turns. As I pulled into a parking space, it lost the ability to move. I turned it off. After waiting, I restarted it; there was a very loud thunk, and it suddenly lurched forward. The check-engine and brake warning lights illuminated, and it still would not move. When the tow truck driver restarted it, the loud thunk happened again. He was eventually able to reverse and move the Jeep a few feet onto the tow truck. He said it appeared to be staying in electric mode rather than transitioning to hybrid operation, although this was not a confirmed diagnosis. The Jeep was towed to an authorized dealership. The dealership says diagnostic scans pass and it cannot reproduce the failure. No cause or repair has been identified. My Jeep app shows safety recall 78C (NHTSA 25V-766), related to possible engine failure and loss of propulsion, with the status “Parts Unavailable.” The dealership told me its scan indicates my vehicle does not need the recall, but has not clearly explained why. I do not know whether the recall caused this incident. I have opened a case with Jeep Corporate. I am concerned this unexplained loss of propulsion and sudden forward lurch could recur in traffic and cause a crash. I reques

There has been repetitive recalls on the rear coil spring for my vehicle. There is another open recall on it AGAIN with no remedy as of now. My vehicle is making the same noise it was before when this happened and was to “supposedly be fixed under the recall.” I’ve contacted Jeep corporate and they were no help at all. All they wanted to do was write me a check for two of my car payments. This is unbelievable to have to be driving a car with this same recurring issue! The recall states that the vehicle could crash without prior notice/ warning!! I need some assistance in this case - recall number NHSTA 26V-562 is the current one and the prior ones was 26V-051 and 23V-413 and 23V-352.

The control panel of the radio became inoperable and rebooted itself right after a software update. We have had multiple problems with this console and the dealer has failed to fix it or stop the updates which cause the problems. From what I understand, this is a known problem. Ever since 68c recall the vehicle no longer operates as it did. There is not enough power in emergency situations and definitely not safe. Also there is a known issue with the sway bar that rattles and sounds like I am dragging something under the vehicle. This was replaced once but same problem returned again after a few months.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle was struck on the front driver's side in a four-vehicle crash. The front driver’s side air bag failed to deploy. The contact believed that the air bag should have deployed due to the location of the impact. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance. The contact stated that a Police report was filed but not provided. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The contact stated that medical attention was received for a knee injury. An MRI was taken and detected a dislocated knee injury that required therapy.

On [XXX], while traveling southbound on [XXX] south of Santee, South Carolina, my vehicle lost its passenger-side rear coil spring. I was towing a trailer and initially attributed the vehicle's low rear stance to the trailer’s weight. After arriving in Bluffton and returning the trailer, the rear remained low. I looked underneath the vehicle and discovered the missing spring. On [XXX], AutoNation CDJR Hilton Head confirmed the missing spring and refused to let me drive the vehicle, warning that doing so put me in grave danger. The repair cost exceeded $1,300. A detached rear coil spring presents an evident safety hazard: it can compromise the vehicle's handling and control, and the spring itself can become a dangerous roadway obstacle or projectile, threatening other motorists. I subsequently received a recall notice addressing this issue—the third rear coil spring recall since production of this model year began. Jeep has refused reimbursement because the incident occurred before the recall. Jeep has also refused to acknowledge that the driver-side rear coil spring still requires inspection and any necessary repair under the recall. The rear cross traffic warning and blind spot warning DO NOT ALARM if you have an iphone connected to Carplay when you start the car and that iphone is on silent. I would think that a critical safety feature like this would be completely separate from connected devices. I almost backed into a child crossing on a bike because of this failure. I contacted Jeep to let them know of this issue and got a vague email saying Jeep had evaluated the situation and declines to buy my vehicle back (which I never requested, I just want them to fix this safety issue). We have two jeep grand cherokees in our household, a 2023 and a 2021 and both vehicles have the same issue. It fell on deaf ears with Jeep from a concerned consumer, I hope you can address if further.

While driving in active traffic at approximately 6 PM, our 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe experienced a catastrophic, sudden loss of propulsion/driving power with no prior warning. The vehicle would not switch to gas, completely died, and refused to restart even in e-Save mode. A dashboard warning appeared: 'plug in vehicle for battery conditioning.' We were stranded in an active lane of travel and nearly rear-ended before securing police assistance (911 call) and a AAA tow. While driving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited at approximately 25 mph in October 2025, the right rear coil spring unexpectedly ejected from the vehicle. I immediately felt the vehicle drop and become unstable. Although I was able to maintain my lane, I believe the relatively low speed was an important factor in my ability to maintain control. I subsequently retrieved the detached coil spring from the roadway and photographed the components and affected suspension. This failure occurred despite the vehicle having previously completed FCA safety recall 64A on July 17, 2023. An authorized Jeep dealership later confirmed that the right rear coil spring and isolators were missing and replaced the components under my extended service contract. I was required to pay a $250 deductible. I am concerned that the vehicle experienced the precise safety hazard the original recall was intended to prevent. On April 21, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., I was operating my vehicle on a public roadway near the intersection of 98th Street and Indiana Avenue in Lubbock, Texas. While I was traveling at approximately 45 miles per hour, another driver operating a pickup truck pulled out of a grocery store parking lot directly into my path of travel. The truck entered the roadway in front of my vehicle, leaving me unable to avoid a collision. The front of my vehicle struck the side of the pickup truck, resulting in a significant T-bone collision. Following the accident, the driver of the pickup truck admitted that he had been eating a breakfast burrito and had looked to his right but failed to look to his left before pulling into the roadway. VEHICLE DAMAGE AND AIRBAG FAILURE The collision resulted in approximately $20,000 in damage to my vehicle. Despite the substantial front-end impact and the approximate speed at which I was traveling before the collision, the airbags in my vehicle did not deploy. The failure of the airbags to deploy during this collision raises serious concerns regarding the proper operation of the vehicle’s supplemental restraint system and whether the airbags functioned as designed. I am requesting that the circumstances of this accident be reviewed to determine whether the failure of the airbags to deploy was the result of a defect, malfunction, or other failure of the vehicle’s safety systems.

Here is the issue: vehicle sat all evening (an 8 hour shift) in the warehouse parking lot and it misty rained, so probably high humidity as well, the entire time. When I got in it at the end of my shift, and started it, cycling 3 times hoping the issue would clear, it had lost all electric power steering assist. The red steering wheel icon came on, lane‑keep assist disabled, traffic sensing disabled, and ACC showed ‘ACC Unavailable – Service Required.’ I limped the vehicle home - highly unsafe - to a dry somewhat environmentally controlled garage waiting for the roadside assistance tow truck to grab it next morning. When the towtruck driver arrived, he hopped in the vehicle, started it up, and it was as if nothing happened last night this dry, sunny morning. That must be a short somewhere. I spoke with Jordan at Dave Dennis CJDR in Dayton, OH, right away they said they checked it out, found old code U0131, cleared it, were not able to repeat the issue, and come get it. A few days, and much frustration later, I found this FOIA file, uploaded below, along with weblink [XXX] discussing a, quite concerning, to me, "known grounding issue" with "G908A faulty grounding." I have no indication on the below also attached invoice that that grounding issue was ever even checked, so I remain very concerned! I was driving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the rear passenger side suspension spring came out of my car and caused significant damage to the underside of my vehicle. I was traveling at or around 60+ miles per hour. The vehicle is currently sitting at the dealership awaiting repair. The dealership stated that the damage was the result of a recall on my vehicle. I am filing a complaint regarding the front fascia/bumper on my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The front fascia is separating and developing a visible gap near the headlight and adjoining body panel. I contacted Jeep Customer Care and was told there was no recall for this condition and to have the vehicle inspected by a Jeep dealership. A dealer later suggested the condition could possibly be related to prior body damage or repair based on panel alignment and possible paintwork. However, I have not been provided documentation identifying a specific damaged component or establishing that prior damage caused the current separation. I subsequently learned that Stellantis issued STAR Online Case S2223000075, “Front Fascia Cover Gaps And Or Poor Fitment,” addressing front fascia fitment concerns. My vehicle is experiencing separation/gapping in this same general area. I have also personally observed and photographed several other Grand Cherokees displaying similar-looking gaps near the fascia/headlight area. I do not know their accident or repair histories and cannot state that they have the same cause. I am requesting that NHTSA review this complaint with any similar reports and determine whether the fascia attachment system, retainers, mounting tabs, clips, brackets, or related components can allow the fascia to progressively separate during normal use. The vehicle has an active, un-remedied engine block casting sand contamination fire/loss of propulsion and crash risk (FCA 78C / NHTSA 25V-766) listing 'Parts Unavailable.' I was driving down that interstate where I felt that back end of the Jeep drop. I did not hit a bump or anything. When I got out of the vehicle I noticed a significant drop in the height of the vehicle. At first I though something happened with the shocks. My vehicle was repaired with the recall 23V413 however for some reason it didn't make 26V051 recall. I took it to the dealership and they said since it wasn't on the 26V051 recall they would not fix it. I think the repair for the 23V413 did not hold or work and this could cause significant problems. I'm not sure where the coil fell off but I think could cause significant damage or injury if it flew off and hit another vehicle or caused me to have significant steering issues on the interstate. The dealership did confirm that the rear coils did fail.

Since Nov 2025 there has been a recall with still no remedy for repair. The recall is a huge safety risk regarding the hybrid battery worrying me about it exploding or catching on fire as it warns me to not charge it in my garage and be careful charging it which is the only reason I purchased this hybrid.

At the end of March 2026, the hybrid battery was replaced due to a recall by the dealership. After this, several software updates done, including the BCM, per technician's notes. In May 2026, my vehicle was found bricked in my driveway, unable to jump start, giving warnings regarding the dual charging system. After being towed to the dealership, they found my 12v battery was dead and stated that it needed to be replaced, which was done, with no further testing per technician's notes. Six weeks later, in July 2026, my vehicle was found bricked in my driveway again, giving the same warnings on the dashboard as it did in May. Once towed to the dealership again, with further parasitic testing, they found a "TSB about improper BCM software causing the 12v systems battery to be drained, as well as the kombi flickering which was also experienced while vehicle was in shop. TSB stated the BCM needs to be flashed." (taken from the technician's notes). As the dealership explained it to me, my vehicle failed to receive an update for the BCM, causing this glitch to drain my 12v battery. Due to my vehicle exceeding the 36,000-mile warranty, the dealership forced me to pay for the work done in both May and July, in addition to paying for a rental car while my vehicle was in the shop, even though the cause of this problem originated from the manufacturer, and was no cause of mine.

I had taken the Jeep in to have the rear coil fixed under the recall notice a couple of years ago. While driving out of state during the evening of XXX, the car made a large thud noise and the passenger rear side of the car dropped. We stepped out of the vehicle and the passenger rear coil spring was lying in the road. The car had not been in any accidents or had any damage. The spring simply dislodged and fell to the ground while we were driving. We had the Jeep towed to Jeff Wyler dealership in Columbus and provided them the spring that had fallen off. Owners of these vehicles are reporting that the front bumper mounting clamps begin to crack, break, or fail at approximately 30,000 miles — often occurring just after the basic warranty period expires. This vehicle has experienced continuous HV battery drainage since repaired under recall 68C on 2/9/26. Multiple follow up trips to the dealer and discussions with the Stellantis "Star team" have resulted in them informing me the vehicle is unfixable but "safe" to drive. They admit they have no idea what the problem is or how to solve it.

This is the 3rd internal mechanical failure of the front electronic disconnecting sway bar assembly on my Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe. The component keeps failing prematurely (most recently after only 3,000 miles), causing severe front-end looseness and clunking. This is a critical part of the suspension and it has failed 3x in 14k miles.

As I was driving the warning system alerting me to BRAKE! came on and jerked the vehicle to a stop even though no one was in front of me and there were no cars next to me either. Extremely dangerous to have the vehicle stop out of the blue while driving 20 mph. The component has not been inspected yet and the warning lights came on the dashboard.

My wife was driving our jeep and it suddenly shifted into park while slamming the brakes on its own. She had to stay in the middle of the road shut it off & then start up and drive again but it keep happening the whole 20 mins stopping ride home.

Safely maneuvered the vehicle to the side of the roadway. Dealership has not been able to recreate the problem. Vehicle has been at dealership service department since May 14, 2026, immediately after incident. Vehicle was able to be driven to dealership after incident. Incident reported to Stellantis May 28, 2026. Stated that the report would be escalated and I would be contacted via email in 1-2 business days. No direct manufacturer inspection at this time, and police/insurance company were not contacted as there was no accident to report. Safety recall 73C in regard to this matter was completed September 26, 2025 according to Stellantis customer service and recall information available for the VIN of this vehicle. No warning lights/messages/symptoms of the problem prior to incident. During incident and after loss of propulsion started, "D" started flashing on the dash console and the gear shift knob, and I was unable to shift out of drive. After approximately 5 minutes, the vehicle put itself in park and engaged the emergency brake. Video of part of the incident available upon request

Fortunately we were not driving it on the Florida Turnpike at the time and none of my family was in the garage when it explosively ejected. We took it to the dealership, Napleton’s Jeep, on February 23, 2026 for its annual service and explicitly directed them to repair or correct any recalls. They said they could not perform the coil spring repair because “Parts Not Available” but assured us it had been inspected and was determined to not be defective or a risk. This is VERY disturbing because it could have killed us if we had been driving at the time and could have seriously injured or killed someone if it had exploded free when people were nearby (ex: in the garage, grocery store parking lot, club parking lot, etc.). There are no warning lamps to even advise that something has occurred - other than finding the enormous spring that put a giant dent in my garage door. I have multiple major work matters, an 8 figure mediation and two court hearings, which require me to drive to Fort Lauderdale this week so I had to spend $50 on an Uber to get a rental car last night and $210 on the rental car.
