Hybrid/battery system is locked out and fails to operate in freezing weather (FORM status malfunction) Both winters I have owned this vehicle it will not operate on battery from mid-September until March or April. None of the ridiculous "fixes" do anything including oil changes, fuel additions or driving for 2 hours (!) to burn off oil in the fuel, all tried multiple times. I have dash photos and log of this malfunction. The dealership has been useless and unable to offer any fix or suggestions. JEEP Cares doesn't care.
The vehicle loss drive power in the middle of driving several times back to back, a red wrench and a message saying to service hybrid system warning appeared. Purchased used in September 2025, had open recall fixed and later recall fixed after in early 2026.
High Voltage Battery (hybrid battery) has excessive drain when parked. This was noticed after completing the 68C recall. In any temperature it drains 8-12% over 12 hours. I noticed it happening when it was 65-75 degrees, so not hot and not cold. I brought it in for a repair once, it spent 3 weeks at the dealership and was claimed fixed but it's still doing it. It is known problem on the forums as well after the 68C recall. No warning lights.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly lowered and started pulling to the right. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, and the contact exited to inspect the vehicle but found no failure. The vehicle was taken to the residence, and then to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the axle and passenger’s side rear tension link were bent and lodged into the knuckle, the passenger steering knuckle was fractured with a fractured bolt inside, and the passenger’s side rear tension link, CV axle, and steering knuckle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred approximately 8 weeks later on the driver's side. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear passenger’s side of the vehicle, and the vehicle started pulling to the left. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and inspected, but the contact found no visible failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the driver's side rear axle and driver's side rear tension link were bent and had lodged into the knuckle, the driver's side steering knuckle was fractured with a fractured bolt inside, and the driver's side rear tension link, CV axle, and steering knuckle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileag
I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding my hybrid Jeep vehicle due to ongoing and unresolved safety issues that present a significant risk to myself and others. Since the beginning of ownership, I have experienced repeated and escalating problems with the vehicle, including: * Hybrid system malfunction warnings and persistent red wrench indicator * Aggressive and unsafe gear shifting while driving * Vehicle stalling unexpectedly * Vehicle intermittently failing to turn on or shut off properly In addition to these critical concerns, my vehicle has been under Recall 68C since October 2025. To date, there has been no available remedy provided. I have been explicitly instructed not to park the vehicle in a garage or near structures and to avoid charging the vehicle due to an increased risk of fire. This situation has created significant hardship and safety concerns. I am unable to safely use or store my vehicle as intended. I have also been informed that potential fire damage related to this issue may not be covered by homeowners insurance, further increasing the risk and liability I am being forced to assume. Despite repeated attempts to address these issues through proper channels, including dealership service visits and manufacturer communication, no resolution has been provided. This vehicle poses a clear safety hazard due to: * Risk of fire associated with the hybrid battery system * Unpredictable stalling and drivetrain behavior while in operation * Lack of manufact

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V741000 (Electrical System) and 25V576000 (Electrical System). The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and turned off in the driveway, she heard popping noises and saw smoke coming from underneath the vehicle near the rear passenger seat. The contact called the fire department, which responded and extinguished the fire. The firefighters cut the battery lines, removed the battery, and pushed the vehicle away from the contact's home. A hazmat team arrived and sprayed water on the battery for three hours. A fire department report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the manufacturer's investigation unit inspected the vehicle and determined that the failure was related to the battery. The contact was informed that the battery failure was covered under warranty, which was extended. The insurance company was notified of the failure, but informed the contact that the battery was not covered by the policy. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of drive power four to six months before the failure, which she related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V576000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and two cases were filed. The manufacturer issued a letter instructing the dealer to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.
The rear parking collision warning abruptly stopped working. The engine smells like it’s burning. The recall 68c has no remedy currently. My neighborhood is at risk due to this outstanding issue.
I am reporting a systemic safety failure involving a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee sold as a "Certified Pre-Owned" (CPO) vehicle. Despite the mandatory 125-point CPO safety inspection, the vehicle was delivered with multiple safety-critical defects that should have prevented certification. Primary Safety Risks: Suspension/Stability: The vehicle exhibits vibration and instability at all speeds, resulting in a loss of steering stability and difficulty maintaining lane position at highway speed. Tire Integrity: The vehicle was sold with dry-rotted tires, indicating structural degradation that poses a high risk of catastrophic failure/blowout. Electrical/Powertrain: The Auto Start/Stop system is faulty. Additionally, the paddle shifters are non-functional, which interferes with manual gear selection and driver control over the powertrain. The selling dealership has refused to acknowledge these defects or bring the vehicle into compliance with manufacturer safety standards. Furthermore, Stellantis Corporate has failed to provide a safety compliance review. These mechanical and electrical defects existed at the time of sale and represent a failure of the CPO safety process.
July 31, 2024, purchased a new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summitt (Hybrid) from local Chrysler/Dodge dealer in Las Vegas Nevada. Keeping this very high level, after the 3rd day the vehicle would not start. The dealer sent technician to our home however finally had to be towed to the dealer. The dealer inspected the vehicle on several occasions while continuing to work directly manufacture, however after weeks had been advised the parts did not fix the issue. Opened case (xxxxxxxx) with parent company of Chrysler (Stellantis). week after week customer service said they are working on the issue. Finally, at around 45 days we had to buy another vehicle based on need for transportation. Along the way we make vehicle & insurance payments every month. Additionally, we received a recall notice that the vehicle was subject to a fire. Do not park in or around buildings. At the 80-day mark we advised the dealer to get us out of this vehicle. Dealer said the vehicle is now a used car so must face deprecation plus loss of down payment. Based on no fix to original problem and risk of fire. Stellantis advised now that we do not own the Jeep, we are not eligible for any assistance or compensation for loss and thus Cased closed.
My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been out of service at a dealership since January 22 due to a safety recall involving the high-voltage battery. The manufacturer has no repair available and no estimated timeline. I have no access to my vehicle and have been forced to pay for rental cars out of pocket, with only partial reimbursement. The vehicle has now been out of service for over 50 days. I am requesting assistance with a buyback or full resolution of this.
Unknown what actually occurs but the entire car shuts off while driving. It has happened to me twice in traffic. Once no warnings, the second time the tire pressure sensor fault flashed went away and then the entire car just shut down while I was driving. I had my child with me and was a scary moment could’ve cause a serious accident or potential death. Car was stuck in the road for over 30min before I could get it to restart and move to a safer location.
The contact owned a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System). The contact received a phone call; the contact was informed that the recall repair had failed and destroyed the ECM. The contact was informed that the vehicle was no longer driven. The contact was informed that the computer needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the parts were ordered and would be delivered within two days. The contact stated that there had not been any additional updates from the dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased on March 3, 2026. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,722.
I was driving on the highway when all of a sudden my gas pedal stopped propelling the car and the engine seemed to be off. I looked at the dash board and saw that the car was indicating it was off and that I needed to step on the brake and hit the ignition button to turn it back on. I barely had control of the car but was able to pull off to the side of the road. I then had to wait several minutes for the car to respond and turn back on. This has happened in the past to me with this car but this is the first time I knew I could report it here. This is a terrible vehicle and I’ve had nothing but safety issues with it since I leased it.
Vehicle previously brought to dealership for recall and reported issue where vehicle abruptly stops/brakes without cause. Dealer did not resolve. On 3/16/26 vehicle came to a complete stop in roadway, shifted into park, and could not be moved into drive, neutral, or reverse. Driver was stranded in a dangerous situation with infant in vehicle. Dealer unable to inspect for weeks and refused loaner. This presents a serious safety hazard.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced battery failure. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the hybrid battery had failed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,312.
I am submitting this complaint regarding a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that has been subject to multiple safety recalls involving the high-voltage battery system and a risk of fire or explosion. The manufacturer, Stellantis, issued safety instructions advising owners not to charge the vehicle and not to park the vehicle in garages or near structures or other vehicles due to the potential fire risk. It says "Sand from the casting process can contaminate internal engine components, leading to a catastrophic engine failure, which can result in a vehicle fire or an unexpected and unrecoverable loss of propulsion. These instructions significantly restricted the normal use of the vehicle and created serious safety concerns. I have young kids Additionally, the recall notice stated that a remedy for the defect was not available for an extended period of time. Despite the seriousness of the defect and the safety warnings issued, the vehicle remained without a repair solution for months.Jeep has now discontinued the vehicles altogether with no solution for the vehicle. Due to these conditions, the vehicle could not be safely operated or used for its intended purpose. The unresolved safety defect effectively rendered the vehicle unsafe and unusable. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this matter and the impact that these unresolved safety defects have had on vehicle owners. I believe the situation raises significant safety concerns regarding vehicl
Battery failure upon diagnostic at dealer per recall 68c. I had no issues with the car prior to bringing it into the dealer for the recall. The car has now been at dealer for over 11weeks. Neither dealership nor Stellantis is providing update on ETA for when battery will be ready and recall addressed.
Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to report serious safety concerns regarding my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, VIN [XXX] , which still has 11 months remaining on the lease. During the two years of this lease, the vehicle has had several recalls and repeated mechanical problems every 2–3 months, including a recent transmission replacement. The vehicle is currently affected by Recall 68C. I have maintained the vehicle responsibly and completed oil changes on time. Recently, while driving on the freeway, the dashboard began flashing red warnings and the vehicle lost power, forcing me to slow down in traffic. With help from Highway Service Patrol, I managed to move the car off the freeway. The vehicle would not restart properly and required several attempts before it began working again. I scheduled an appointment with the dealership for the recall repair and oil change. However, after one of the case managers informed me that my vehicle appeared eligible for the Buy Back program, my recall repair appointment was canceled. Later, my case was reviewed by Mrs. Khushbu (Customer Retention Specialist), who informed me that the vehicle was not eligible for buyback and closed my case (#[XXX]) without clearly explaining the reason. As a single working mother, I depend on reliable transportation. I now experience anxiety every time I drive this vehicle due to safety concerns. Two days ago, the same issue occurred again on the freeway — the dashboard flashed red, the gas pedal became unresponsi
My car is a plug in hybrid and hybrid batteries have molars been replaced prematurely. This car has completely lost all power 3 times while I was driving and I had to have it towed to a Jeep certified dealer and it shat in the shop for 18 weeks. It has been in the shop 6 times and I haven’t even had it a year. It has had multiple recalls on this car and it’s still scary to drive. I don’t feel safe in it at all.
I need repair my car because i have recall battery hybryd i m scare driving my vehicles With my family I need Loaner car from Dealer
On February 28, 2026, while preparing to leave our home with our two children in the vehicle, we experienced a critical vehicle malfunction. Upon attempting to start the car, all dashboard warning lights illuminated, including transmission error, “service needed,” and “automatic emergency braking system needs service.” The battery warning light was also on. The vehicle would not start initially. After eventually starting the car, we temporarily placed it in neutral and pushed it out of the garage, during which the brakes functioned normally. The vehicle was briefly driven and appeared operational, but due to ongoing safety concerns and multiple recalls, we parked it at the top of our driveway. On the following day, the vehicle would not start again. We arranged for it to be towed to the dealership. On March 2, 2026, when the tow truck arrived, the car’s position prevented loading onto the truck. Multiple jump-start attempts failed initially, then briefly started the vehicle, but it immediately shut off again. We placed the vehicle in neutral using the manual override and tested the brakes, which initially showed stiffness but were operational. While attempting to move the vehicle to allow tow truck access, the brakes suddenly failed. Despite pressing the brake pedal fully and brake lights being illuminated, the vehicle did not stop and rolled uncontrollably into our garage. Consequences: •Garage property damage: approximately $11,000 •Personal injury: my father-in-law fell wh
Powertrain/engine performance (acceleration control): vehicle struggles to accelerate when pressing the gas. Transmission / drivetrain (gear engagement / shift control): vehicle drops from Reverse into Neutral without driver input (unintended gear disengagement). Water intrusion: ongoing water intrusion, power tailgate was already replaced due to water erosion, when it rains or snows water gets into vehicle resulting in a musty/moldy smell and driver side mat soaking wet. Yes — the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The loss of acceleration / hesitation / jolting creates a risk of being unable to merge, cross intersections, or accelerate in traffic when needed. The unintended shift from Reverse into Neutral can cause loss of intended vehicle control/movement while reversing (driveway/parking lot risk), increasing collision risk with nearby vehicles, pedestrians, or property. Reverse → Neutral: Reported to dealer multiple times; confirmation varies by visit (intermittent concern) Stellantis Customer Retention states they spoke with the service manager and confirmed the repair history and dealer visits, not necessarily a physical engineer inspection.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I bought the 4xe trailhawk in 12/2023 at 2,000 miles it started making a clicking noise when i hit a bump & sometimes when i steer the truck to the right, moving forward the said it was the detachable sway bar it fixed the problem temporary for about 2 weeks i didn’t have any sound, moving forward I’ve replaced 3 sway bars, front control arms, brackets, rear suspension, front airbag suspension etc. just got my truck back from the david jeep in glen mills still same sounds, the dealership is great. My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (VIN [XXX] ) has been out of service since [XXX] due to Recall 68C involving the high-voltage battery fire risk, as well as Recall 73C (hybrid control processor software). The vehicle was delivered to the dealership on January 6, 2026 and has remained in their possession continuously with no firm repair completion date provided. The primary recall involves a high-voltage battery defect that presents a potential fire hazard. As of today, the vehicle has been out of service for more than 45 days. I have been deprived of use of the vehicle due to an unresolved safety recall and lack of available repair remedy or parts. This complaint is being filed to document the prolonged inability to repair a federally recognized safety defect and the extended out-of-service period. Since I first leased my vehicle in May of 2023, I have received over 7 safety recalls. At least 2 of which are related to the main battery of the hybrid power system. Ever since I got the first one, I was recommended to park my car outside my house for risk of fire while parked. The latest recall, which has not been resolved involved the battery again and after taking the car to the dealer, the battery did not pass the test and the dealer requested I leave the car with them and advised this will take about a month to correct if they can correct it at all.
My wife and I were driving on a curvy road after dark and all of a sudden the windshield started fogging up and the blower quit and no warm air was available to clear up the windshield we had to pull off and after a time it started up again . sometimes it seems like it takes forever for the heat to come . I think this vehicle is cursed n
On December 17, 2025, I brought my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (30th Anniversary Edition) to Los Angeles Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for safety recall 68C involving the high-voltage (HV) battery. The dealer performed the required recall software update/flash and diagnostic and confirmed the vehicle failed 68C, meaning the HV traction battery pack requires replacement. The vehicle remains at the dealer and is available for inspection. I cannot take the vehicle home even if I tried: per the recall process it must remain at the dealer once it fails, and the software flash/diagnostic effectively “bricked” the vehicle, rendering it undriveable until the HV battery is replaced. This defect involves the HV battery, a critical energy-storage component with serious safety implications. The problem has been confirmed by an authorized dealer; no police/insurance inspection. The dealer initially stated the battery would arrive around January 12, 2026, but it did not. At ~4 weeks out of service I called the dealer for an update—no ETA, status, or tracking. The dealer has never proactively contacted me. At ~8 weeks I called Jeep Cares—no ETA, tracking, or meaningful update; they only contacted the dealer. I am still making payments on a vehicle immobilized at the dealer for ~9 weeks due to the recall remedy delay. I also did not receive the $100 recall compensation gift cards and Jeep Cares has not resolved that. I am filing this complaint because the recall remedy is not being provided withi
Since shortly after taking delivery of my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, I have repeatedly experienced intermittent safety-related malfunctions involving sudden steering stiffness and braking intervention. From early in ownership, the vehicle would unexpectedly engage what I later learned is the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system. During these events, the steering would feel locked or restricted and the brakes would apply without driver input. In order to restore normal operation, I was required to pull over, turn the vehicle off, and restart it. These concerns were reported multiple times to the dealership over the course of ownership. On January 13, 2026, while traveling at approximately 60 mph on the highway in normal traffic conditions, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion without warning. At that time, the instrument cluster displayed a “HYBRID / ELECTRIC MODE UNAVAILABLE” message along with a wrench indicator light. The vehicle immediately began losing power and was unable to maintain highway speed. As the vehicle slowed unexpectedly in active traffic, two tractor-trailers were approaching from behind. The sudden loss of propulsion created an immediate risk of a rear-end collision. The driver was forced to maneuver across lanes while the vehicle was losing power in order to reach the shoulder safely. The loss of propulsion and warning messages occurred simultaneously. The vehicle was towed to the authorized dealership, where it remains. The dealership has indicated

I turned the vehicle on and put it in reverse. The check engine light came on and it would not exceed 2mph. I hoped it was a short error but when switching to drive it also would not exceed 2mph. I immediately parked it and called a tow truck. Upon the tow arrival the vehicle would not longer change gears and showed both a check engine light and a service charging system warning. The emergency release to change the vehicle from park to neutral had to be used. It was pulled onto the tow truck and has been 6 days at the dealer with no remedy. The dealer escalated to Stellantis for additional assistance in possible repair options.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the electrical charge remained at 98% for an extensive amount of time, showing no reduction in charge; however, the vehicle failed to charge correctly, and the battery charge drained quickly. The failure was intermittent. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part for the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Multiple times the vehicle will drive very jumpy even if not pressing on the gas or brakes. When accelerating or braking the car will randomly drastically respond to the pedals or barely respond almost making it impossible to stop at times. The inconsistency of breaking and gas power has caused me almost be hit or hit someone else repeatedly.
Dealer reported the incorrect mileage on my vehicle when I took it in for service. Now today when I came in 02/16/2026, they told me about this issue and it affected my warranty and also affected my car fax record for my vehicle.
The head unit sometimes refuses to work, meaning the backup camera does not work. The problems have been there since day 1, but now I have a good video of an incident. This is a massive plug in hybrid vehicle, so losing my backup camera puts pedestrians at risk. This is a mandatory safety feature to protect children behind the vehicle. I tried the screens power button as well as putting the vehicle in park then reverse but it never switched on the backup camera.
Event 1 – Abnormal Tire Wear / Stability Concern Date: January 6, 2026 Within approximately 3,000 miles of operation, the vehicle developed severe and abnormal tire tread wear rendering the tires unsafe for continued highway use. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealership. Intermittent vehicle electrical issues also noted. Independent tire inspections indicated the tread pattern was irregular and consistent with possible suspension or front-end control arm failure . Photographic documentation is preserved. Prior written notice of suspension related safety concerns had been delivered to the manufacturer on October 2025. This was later confirmed by an internal report that list the previous buyback history and the current conditions that align perfectly. The report is available for view. Safety ConcernPrimary concerns include: Unexpected propulsion loss at highway speed. Total electrical system breakdown causing a red turtle event during motion. Reduced braking and steering control during stall. Non restart condition in traffic. Video captures moment Severe abnormal tire wear potentially indicating suspension instability.
Event 2 – Complete Stall / Electrical Blackout at Highway Speed Date: January 21, 2026Location: Interstate 19, Arizona While traveling at highway speed, the vehicle experienced sudden and complete loss of propulsion. Engine power shut off while in motion. Instrument cluster and electrical systems went fully black. Vehicle would not restart. Power steering response was minimal. Brake response was significantly reduced.• Hazard lights were inoperative shortly after the stall and remained in complete blackout. The loss of propulsion and electrical systems occurred in active highway traffic, creating multiple immediate exposure hazard. A manufacturer-directed tow was initiated following the event. Post stall Service Following the Jan 6 event Service records reflect replacement of the hybrid battery following shutdown and low voltage findings. It further states they performed safety recalls and software updates that did not address the issues. The dealer was notified immediately, and they disengaged. Subsequent dealership communication indicated refusal to continue diagnostic or warranty involvement. The loss of propulsion and electrical systems occurred in active highway traffic, creating multiple immediate exposure hazard. A manufacturer-directed tow was initiated following the event.Safety Concern Primary concerns include: Unexpected propulsion loss at highway speed. Total electrical system breakdown causing a red turtle event during motion. Reduced braking and steering control
The heater on our 4 x e stopped working and would not defrost front window or heat the car in sub zero weather we have been having lately. I have had this car in 2 times already for the same issue. I fear for my wife's safety while driving this car as it can not defrost the front window due to heat not working. I have an apt on 2/16/2026 for a computer dump and fear another $370 bill for something that appears can not be fixed. I re-booted the computer as it recommended on the internet, but it only worked a small time. I have 3 Grand Cherokees and am very disappointed with this one as the other 2 have over 280,000 miles on them. Regretfully, [XXX] [XXX] . Recall 68C I can’t drive my vehicle while the dealership awaits a replacement battery from manufacturer. I have not been offered any compensation from Jeep.
Vehicle set air bag warning light, warning message to have SRS serviced soon. Took in to dealer, mechanic determined from fault code tha the sensor in the front passenger seat bottom was defective. Jeep is replacing entire seat bottom. Difficulty in obtaining part. Entire repair to take a month.

I own a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that is currently subject to an active safety recall involving a fire hazard. I have been advised that the vehicle should not be parked in a residential garage due to risk of fire. At this time, no permanent repair or remedy has been made available. This significantly limits safe residential use of the vehicle. I previously notified the manufacturer, FCA US LLC, via certified mail requesting guidance or resolution regarding the unresolved recall and safety risk. FCA received the correspondence but did not respond. The vehicle remains under recall with no remedy available, and the manufacturer has been non-responsive. I am concerned about ongoing fire risk, lack of interim safety measures, and inability to safely use or store the vehicle as intended. I am requesting NHTSA review of the unresolved recall remedy and manufacturer response related to this safety issue.
The contact leased a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V766000 (Engine) and 25V741000 (Electrical System). The local dealer was contacted and completed the recall repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System); however, the second recall repair was still pending. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee hybrid. The vehicle has experienced repeated stalling and loss of propulsion while driving, including in active traffic and in a school pickup line. The vehicle has unexpectedly failed to accelerate or start, creating dangerous situations for myself, my passengers, and surrounding vehicles. The vehicle has stalled in traffic and at low speeds without warning. On multiple occasions, it lost propulsion while driving, requiring me to stop unexpectedly. One incident occurred in a school pickup line, causing traffic disruption and creating a safety risk with children present. In addition, the vehicle is subject to a high-voltage battery safety recall due to fire risk. I have been advised that the vehicle is unsafe to park in a garage, and I am concerned about the risk of fire. At this time, there is no permanent repair available for the recall. Despite reporting these issues and seeking service, the safety defects remain unresolved. The combination of stalling, loss of propulsion, and fire risk makes the vehicle unsafe to operate and unsafe to park. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter as a safety defect involving loss of power, stalling, and fire risk.
A vehicle safety recall was issued however, there is no solution readily available. After I was finally able to schedule an appointment to have the recall addressed I was told the HV battery needed to be replaced but there was no timeline to complete the repair. This delay is primarily due to a lack of parts and a larger than expected number of issues with this vehicle type.
Vehicle was charged to full overnight. Vehicle was warming up in the garage on the charger in EV mode for approx 20 minutes. Vehicle cabin was warm when unplugged and put in reverse. Vehicle struggled to get through minor snow until traction control was turned off even with being set to "snow" mode (excessive slip). Outside temperature was -1 at the time (well above cold weather operating temperature) when EV powertrain immediately ceased. The vehicle then went into a limp mode. After 20 minutes or so the gas engine functioned normally and the vehicle was on the road without any EV power (regenerative braking was restoring additional battery). Stopped at dealership on my way to work to have a DTC code analyzed from when this event occurred and it was TCM-P1D97-00 Incorrect Gear Ration: Clutch A or D Defective. The vehicle has exhibited transmission hiccups and been reported, so this appears to be a symptom of a consistent problem. At some point I recall the vehicle engaging the parking brake automatically, and the shifter demanded I put the vehicle into P to select my gear. It took a brief moment to understand what the car was doing, but I still have no idea WHY it did it. I followed the standard procedures of press brake while in park, push parking break lever/button until it disengages, but it put itself back into park a couple times before finally driving. I turned the vehicle off and on a couple times during this event as that is what Stellantis has said to do when the ve
