On November 23, 2025, I was driving approximately 60 mph in the middle lane of I-495 near Exit 62 in Marlborough, Massachusetts, with a passenger in the vehicle. I signaled to change lanes to pass a slower vehicle, selected Sport Mode, and accelerated. The engine RPM increased sharply and, almost immediately, I heard an extremely loud bang from the engine area. Multiple warning lights began flashing on the instrument panel, the vehicle made abnormal noises, and the engine lost power. The loss of propulsion was immediate while I was traveling at highway speed. Because that section of I-495 slopes slightly downhill and I was already close to Exit 62, the vehicle's momentum allowed me to reach the exit and pull onto the shoulder. Had this occurred in heavier traffic or in a location without a safe shoulder or exit nearby, the sudden loss of propulsion could have resulted in a collision. The vehicle became inoperable and required towing. It was later inspected by an authorized Jeep dealership. The dealer documented a hole in the side of the engine with engine fluid leaking out and determined that the engine requires replacement. The vehicle had approximately 94,298 miles at the time of the incident and had been regularly maintained. The same vehicle had previously experienced a significant engine problem in 2023 at approximately 67,987 miles, involving white smoke, a head gasket leak affecting cylinder 5, and replacement of the cylinder head. I am reporting this because the catas

I am reporting a suspected odometer fraud involving a vehicle I purchased from a licensed dealership approximately one year ago. At the time of purchase, the vehicle’s odometer displayed about 64,000 miles. The dealership paperwork and sales documents also listed the mileage as approximately 64,000 miles, and I relied on this information when purchasing the vehicle. After the purchase, the vehicle was financed through my bank and the title was processed by the lender. When the bank received the title documentation, the mileage listed on the title was 101,985 miles. This indicates a discrepancy of nearly 40,000 miles between the mileage represented at the time of sale and the mileage recorded on the title. Key details: * Odometer at purchase: approximately 64,000 miles * Mileage listed on dealership paperwork: approximately 64,000 miles * Mileage listed on title received by lender: 101,985 miles * Current odometer reading: approximately 73,000 miles This discrepancy suggests the possibility that the vehicle was sold with inaccurate mileage disclosure or that the odometer may have been rolled back before the sale. The inaccurate mileage may also create a safety risk because vehicle maintenance schedules rely on accurate mileage. If the vehicle had already exceeded 100,000 miles, important maintenance or inspections may have been delayed or missed, which could increase the risk of mechanical failure while driving. The issue has not been confirmed by a dealer or service center be

My 2017 Jeep Cherokee rolled away three times in one day while in Park with the Electric Parking Brake engaged. My driveway has no flat area and slopes toward a public road, creating a serious hazard for my family and traffic. The rollaways occurred suddenly with no warning lights. I had to park the Jeep sideways in a snowbank for two weeks to prevent further rollaways, creating added risks for my family in winter conditions. The vehicle remains at the dealership. During the first two days of the evaluation, the dealer confirmed brake shoe thickness (4mm), verified the EPB software was current, and found no diagnostic codes. They could not recreate the rollaway or identify a cause. No mechanical or electronic faults were found. FCA communication has been inconsistent. I experienced dropped calls, long holds, contradictory statements, and repeated refusals to provide written documentation of the inspection authorization. FCA said they could not escalate the safety case unless the vehicle was already at the dealership, yet still refused written confirmation of the purpose of the inspection, and I was not willing to bring the vehicle in without documentation. After the evaluation, when I attempted to relay the required findings per the RO instructions, FCA informed me the safety case had already been closed, leaving no record of the defect. FCA said only the rental authorization remained open and they could no longer escalate my case. I then had to re-explain the entire rollaway

1. failure appears to involve the vehicle’s electrical control and communication systems, specifically (BCM), (TIPM), and/or CAN bus network. The malfunction caused multiple vehicle systems to activate or fail simultaneously, including windshield wipers, warning indicators, and the transmission shift interlock. The vehicle has been at a repair facility since the incident and remains available for inspection upon request. Nothing has been removed/discarded w/o documentation. 2. The malfunction created a serious safety risk while the vehicle was in operation. All warning lights illuminated at once, the windshield wipers activated without driver input and would not turn off, and the vehicle experienced difficulty shifting and limited drivability. The unpredictable activation and loss of control over critical systems impaired the driver’s ability to safely operate the vehicle and created a risk of becoming stranded or disabled in traffic, posing a danger to both the driver and other road users. 3. My vehicle is stored in garage or with a sunshade on at all times, but the leather dash has still separated, this issue has been recalled in other years and needs to be address in 2017 Jeeps as well. Repairs of this issue are unaffordable due to the labor that is required to repair. GM should address this problem with GM vehicle owners.

Driver's side head restraint exploded as I was pulling out of my driveway with no advance warning. Thankfully I was facing forward when it deployed, or it would have slammed into the back of my head. I found my extended warranty notice from FCA regarding this issue. Contacted my dealership and scheduled an appointment for repair/replacement on 11/1.

I was taking my daughter to school and we were stopped at a light when the check engine light came on. When the light turned green and I pressed the gas the vehicle didn’t seem to respond at all and I rolled my car at the right turn and parked it. I turned it off and back on and it was still doing the same thing. I had someone pick up my daughter and take her to school. I started scheduling a tow but after it sat for a while it was able to drive to a shop for inspection where they tested it and received the error code: P076F = Gear 7 incorrect ratio. I was told the entire engine needs to be replaced. The vehicle has low mileage. Our safety was at risk because I had no warning to get the car to the shop before a major malfunction. I was very fortunate my car was stopped at the time. If I was waiting at a left turn in an intersection we could have had a terrible collision. The exact problem has not been reproduced. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer.

Unknown or uncertain about needing a recall. Recently my car has been having trouble with acceleration in the sense that either it will lag or stall out and at times will give acceleration even without me trying to depress the gas harder. It sputters like it either cannot get gas or the fuel system is faulty, it keeps throwing codes and the check engine light dings and flashes. Cruise control sometimes will not come on, theres a burnt smell and rough idles, i have noticed a deep humming sound under my feet while driving, and sometimes when shifting from park to gear it jerks really hard, going down the road it acts like it takes too long to shift. It really is very scary when it does these things, its a daily occurrence. Sometimes it drives just fine then all of a sudden will malfunction. I've only had the car not quite 2 years and they said they repaired the recalls in 2018, after I had scheduled an appointment for July 2025.

Pass. side active head restraint deployed unexpectedly. Dealer replaced part under “warranty extension x88”. When I contacted Jeep manufacturer: 1-800-334-9200, I was told the manufacturer will NOT replace the driver side head restraint until it self deployed! An accident waiting to happen! My wife and I travel a lot, pulling a travel trailer, so I now have a fear that this active head restraint will also self-deploy. SHAME on the manufacturer. I won’t be considered an “acceptable risk”. Please help me convince the manufacturer to stand by their warranty. Thank you.

Reading this record
Complaint volume is well above typical for a single model year.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Most recent recall on file: Jun 8, 2023. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
