Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Lincoln MKC, Mustang, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, F-450 SD, 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, 2015-2018 Edge, Transit Connect, 2016-2019 F-550 SD, Transit, 2017-2019 Econoline, and 2019 Ranger vehicles. The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.

Risk. A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted, or blank image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. Ford owners will receive letters in phases, beginning January 2026 and June 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S89. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V270. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 8, 2025.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The rear brake jounce hose may rupture and leak brake fluid.

Risk. A brake fluid leak can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the brake jounce hoses and adjust brake jounce hoses with no damage present, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 17, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S87.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Risk. A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.

Risk. A ruptured front brake hose will cause a brake fluid leak, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles. These vehicles may have door striker bolts that are shorter than intended. Vehicles with shorter door striker bolts fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components" potentially resulting in the doors opening in the event of a crash.

Risk. If the doors open in the event of a crash, there is an increased risk of injury.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the door striker bolts, free of charge. The recall began October 18, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18C06.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX, 2019 Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT vehicles. The power supply cables at the starter and the alternator may not have been properly secured, possibly resulting in an electrical arc.

Risk. An electrical arc can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the alternator and starter motor power supply cables to verify that they are properly secured, correcting them as necessary, free of charge. Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ford Edge and 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

Risk. If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.

The vehicle began throwing codes P0300 (Random Misfire), P0302 (Cylinder 2 Misfire), and P0303 (Cylinder 3 Misfire) due to liquid coolant flooding the combustion chambers. The engine is now completely locked and will not start, stranding me at home with no transportation. This is a critical safety issue. Liquid coolant leaking into active engine cylinders poses an immediate risk of sudden engine stalling while driving, loss of motive power in traffic, and potential engine fire hazards. This failure matches Ford's own Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 22-2229), proving Ford has long-standing knowledge of this hazardous design defect. When I contacted Ford Motor Company corporate customer service for emergency assistance and towing to a dealership, Ford explicitly refused to assist me and instructed me to contact class-action plaintiff's attorneys instead. Ford is actively refusing to remedy a severe, known safety hazard for a stranded consumer. I request that NHTSA escalate its investigation into Ford EcoBoost coolant intrusion to force a mandatory safety recall before this defect causes a serious highway accident."

Check engine light appeared, heat stopped working, and received alerts for overheated coolant for 5 second intervals before it would disappear. Mechanic evaluation: Technician performed diagnostic inspection due to multiple engine fault codes, overheating, and engine misfire conditions. Upon inspection, technician found evidence of an internal cylinder head gasket failure allowing engine coolant to leak into the combustion chamber and cylinder wall area. The 2018 Edge has been having Engine misfires for at least 3 months. Edge has had rough starts in the AMs - Check engine has gone on and off. Two main concerns is that the issue with the 2.0 Eco boost is the coolant intrusion into cylinders causing a whole engine replacement. Currently the 2018 Edge only has 65,723 Miles Ford has quoted the repair at a cost of 11k I was prompted to take vehicle in because when I was driving on the Highway at 65mph the engine gives gives you a message the car is going to overheat - so it will automatically reduce engine power to not crack the engine block but not great when you are travelling at a high rate of speed.

My 2018 Ford Edge with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine has approximately 80,000 miles. The vehicle recently experienced a significant loss of engine coolant with no visible external leak found. The coolant level was extremely low when checked. While driving the vehicle, the engine began running very rough and the check-engine light started flashing, indicating a severe misfire. I am aware that Ford has issued TSB 19-2346 concerning coolant intrusion into the cylinders on certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge vehicles equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine. Based on the severe coolant loss with no visible external leak and the subsequent misfire/flashing check-engine light, I am concerned that my vehicle may be experiencing the same condition. The vehicle is available for inspection. A Ford dealership recently inspected the vehicle for a separate flexplate concern and advised that it was not exhibiting the cracked-flexplate issue. The coolant-loss and engine-misfire condition occurred afterward. I am reporting this because a sudden severe engine misfire, overheating, or loss of engine power while driving could create a safety risk, especially if it occurs at highway speeds or in traffic.

Coolant intrusion on the engine block a manufacturers problem which now leaked into the engine block and the vehicle has 50,618 miles and needs a total engine replacement. This is a 2018 and it has internal engine failure, there is a lawsuit but I need my car now to get to and from work.

My 2018 Ford Edge Titanium (2.0L EcoBoost) is experiencing internal engine coolant intrusion - the defect described in Ford Technical Service Bulletin 22-2229 (June 10, 2022), which covers 2015-2018 Ford Edge 2.0L EcoBoost vehicles for coolant leaking into the engine cylinders. The engine loses motive power without warning: it revs but the vehicle barely accelerates, including at road speed - a sudden loss-of-power hazard in traffic. Symptoms began approximately 09/08/2026. The check-engine light is illuminated with diagnostic codes P0300, P0302, P0303 (engine misfires, cylinders 2 and 3), P0316 (misfire on startup), P0217, P1285, P1299 (overheating - the computer has entered cylinder-head over-temperature protection mode), P0299 (turbo underboost), P0012 (cam timing), P0172 (rich condition), and P0420. This matches Ford's own bulletin identifying coolant intrusion into the cylinders, a condition the bulletin says may require complete engine (long-block) replacement. The selling dealer (JD Byrider) was formally notified on 09/29/2026 and I have requested cooling-system pressure testing and cylinder inspection. Exact current mileage is unknown - the vehicle is at the dealership.

Coolant intrusion into cylinder 3, diagnosed at two different shops. This is a known defect in the manufacturing of the engine block and Ford corporate refused to assist us in any way in fixing it. $9600+ repair quote on a car with 121000 miles! There is am active TSB, so they know all about it! This should not be allowed!!!

Mechanical failure, not a simple leak: coolant crosses from the cooling jacket into the cylinders themselves, fouling combustion instead of regulating temperature. The defect traces to the engine block and cylinder head design, combined with a head gasket seal, inadequate. The resulting symptoms as a sudden, significant loss of power paired with an “Engine Coolant Over Temperature” warning on the dashboard, often followed by rough running once the engine cools and a check-engine light tied to a cylinder misfire. Stopped at a green light to turn left. When the oncoming traffic cleared. Hit gas and it almost stalled. Addition traffic approaching me had to slow down to avoid hitting me.

The coolant start leaking into cylinder#1 and cause a check engine light on and problems with the idle and engine performance, my care has only 40k mileage on it and the warantty already passed on it. Its a big ford fail of design or production and i want them to handle that. We can't buy expensive cars and not trust a big company like ford. A scan tool read DTC P0303, cylinder 3 misfire detected. The vehicle was towed to Akins Ford in Winder, Georgia. On XXX Akins opened repair order 955703 and diagnosed a cylinder number 3 misfire caused by coolant intrusion into the cylinder. The dealer performed a borescope inspection and confirmed coolant in the engine. The dealer said the engine long block has to be replaced and estimated the repair at $9,051.31. The vehicle had approximately 83,931 miles. It is still at the dealership and has not been repaired. Ford issued Technical Service Bulletin 19-2346 on XXX, titled "2.0L EcoBoost - Coolant In Cylinders, White Exhaust Smoke And/Or Illuminated MIL." It covers 2015-2018 Edge vehicles with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine. It describes a low coolant level and a runs rough condition with DTCs including P0301 through P0304, states the cause may be coolant intrusion into the cylinder, and directs dealers to replace the long block engine assembly. For a couple months, repeatedly getting various cylinder misfire error codes: P0300, P0301, P0302. The engine stutters on startup and sometimes at idle. Coolant level drops gradually day-to-day. No visible leaks from hoses, radiator, or heater core. Suspect it may be leaking into cylinders. Replaced all four spark plugs, but problem continued to occur a couple days later. Have not yet confirmed with service center where coolant leak is occurring.

Coolant leak into cylinder 4 of engine has caused a diagnostic for engine to have to be replaced. My car has 58,105 miles on it. This is well below the mileage limit of a standard power train life. It is my understanding that car could power down at any time so it is dangerous to continue driving. Ford needs to be held accountable as I read there are numerous instances of this happening and it is a problem for this model. A safety recall should take place. Unacceptable quality of material and design has caused problems both in the past and for future instances and could endanger people driving on the highway and in traffic if engine would power down.

On September 11, 2026, my 2018 Ford Edge with approximately 126,000 miles began shaking and the check-engine light came on. There were no earlier warnings. I am concerned the engine could lose power while driving. I took it to a Ford dealership, where the advisor verbally confirmed coolant inside an engine cylinder and reported codes P0302 and P0316. The repair was quoted at $8,600 before taxes, and repair assistance was denied. The only other recent inspection was a registration inspection a few months earlier.

I had two incidents when I suddenly lost forward power. One was in town and lost power and was almost rear ended by another vehicle. Another incident was when I was on the interstate and lost forward power and had to get off the road because of the traffic until I could get forward movement again. I felt that this loss of power did put myself and others at risk. I also noticed rough idling and took it to the dealer. The first time, they could not get it to act up. Then I had an check engine light come on. I took it into the dealer and they replaced wires to different cylinder (cylinder 2 was affected). Less than a month later, I noticed surging while driving and then the engine light came on again. I took it back to the dealer and they notified me that it was coolant intrusion and needed a new engine at 52,000 miles. I felt unsafe in the vehicle with the surging and loss of power. Not only to myself but also to the other drivers on the road. I have since parked the vehicle out of concern.

My 2018 Ford Edge Titanium experienced a catastrophic engine failure due to a known manufacturing defect involving coolant intrusion into the cylinders. The defect caused the vehicle to become inoperable and required a complete replacement of the 2.0L EcoBoost engine (Service Engine Assembly Part # J2GZ6006E) at 110,821 miles. The total out-of-pocket repair cost was $7,712.78. This sudden loss of engine power poses a severe safety risk on the road.

Engine light came on, shuttering, white smoke. Had spark plugs replaced-didn’t help. Googled to see what might be wrong and found the coolant leak issue. Took it to a private garage to have a coolant pressure test, it failed, did a bore scope and showed significant damage to #2 cylinder. Took it to a Ford dealership to file for a goodwill assist and was turned down because “the car is too old and too many miles”. I am a veteran, on a fixed income, and cannot afford to pay for a new motor. I bought this car for myself on my 78th birthday, trading in my 2006 F-150, with almost 200,000 miles, for my dream car. Now I’ve spent $11,500 and have nothing.

Ford admits "known manufacturing defect" on Eco-Boost 2.0 engine. Coolant intrusion into engine. Coolant getting into combustion chamber, at only 28K miles on my own Ford Edge. Complaints all over the internet & "[XXX]" about this. Known to cause engine fires. Requires EXPENSIVE "long block assembly replacement". Coolant intrusion on cylinder 1.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle made an abnormal knocking sound with smoke coming from the tailpipe. The check engine warning light and overheating warning light were illuminated, and the contact became aware of an abnormal odor during the failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the head gasket had failed, causing coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders and engine failure. The vehicle was repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Action Number: DP26008 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer, Ford Motor Company, was notified of the failure by phone and provided partial assistance for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 71,224.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the coolant temperature warning light illuminated. The contact stated that immediately after the failure, the vehicle failed to accelerate and sputtered abnormally. The vehicle was restarted and taken to a service center to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that coolant was leaking into the engine block, causing engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

The car is 8 years old, well maintained and has mileage of @ 57,000 miles. The "engine check" lighted up in July 2026. Initial check simply required a replacement of spark plug and ignition coil. It was done immediately. However, the engine check light that initially disappeared returned 2 weeks after. When brought to a Ford Dealer, the diagnostic is TSB22-2229 (coolant intrusion in the engine). I was quoted to replace then engine by Ford at the cost of $13,000 or trade it in for $2,500!!! I read many reports of engine stall/overheating due to this problem, and it has become a major safety issue specially that this issue is proven to be a legally established engine design flaw. I do not recall that Ford, over the years, properly inform users of this coolant intrusion into the engine. As I saw safety incidents report regarding this, I made the decision to report this given that I belong to the apparent @500,000 Ford vehicles affected by this. The engine check was on and off and I could have been into a major accident, not knowing the engine can possibly stall while on a high speed. Seeking your help and attention as I believe this is a Safety Recall that Ford should have done years ago. Ford Edge continues to be traded in the secondary market. Kindly think those who may purchase this vehicle without knowing the engine has safety issues with coolant intrusion.

I have the 2.0 Ecoboost that is the subject of internal coolant leak with a potential diagnosis that matches the TRB on this issue. The car has 50K miles and is a 2018 Edge. If this is the issue it should be fixed by Ford without the need for me as an owner to foot the bill for their poor design especially since it was know for a couple years prior by Ford before I purchased this vehicle new. NHTSA should certainly force a recall. At this point it was noted by the dealer during servicing that we were low on coolant.

Coolant reservoir is disappearing and I have a check engine light on with a misfire code

When started vehicle shook violently. Check engine light came on and we took the vehicle to two different mechanics. Both stated engine failure do to coolant intrusion. Needed to replace long block and quoted at least $7000 in repairs. This has been a known issue with these motors yet no recall has been issued. We also contacted our local Ford dealer and they also said we needed a new motor. We reached out to Ford for assistance in covering the cost and were told there was nothing they could do for us. This is our childs school car and I do not feel safe with her driving even to and from school. We have been the owners for 2 years. 2018 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0 Ecoboost engine. 120k miles.

I had my engine replaced due to coolant intrusion on my 2018 ford edge in 2023 at Serra Ford in Sylacauga, Alabama.

Rear drivers side brake line ruptured, leaving the vehicle unsafe to drive. The ruptured happened at a bend in the hard brake line at the top of the gas tank.
