Risk. A rearview camera that fails to display an image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. The APIM software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 13, 2026. Remedy. The accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air update, free of charge. This will be a phased campaign, with the remedy becoming available in different phases based on model and model years. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on June 26, 2025. Additional letters will be mailed once the final remedy is available on each phase. Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Bronco, F-150, Edge, Explorer, Lincoln Nautilus, and Lincoln Aviator vehicles equipped with either a 2.7L or 3.0L Nano EcoBoost engine. The engine intake valves may break while driving, which can result in engine failure and a loss of drive power.

Risk. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will perform an engine cycle test and replace the engine as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 3, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S55.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 - 40 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that due to the failure, the vehicle unexpectedly lurched forward and jerked violently. The contact stated that the vehicle lost accelerator pedal control after violently jerking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. I have a 2022 Ford Edge with catastrophic internal mechanical failure of the 8F35 8-speed automatic transmission and torque converter assembly. This issue became substantially noticeable in early April of 2026 (probably earlier but I was unaware it was transmission issues) while on a road trip when the vehicle was delayed in shifting into gears after coming to a stop from park or at a stop light. Vehicle was brought to Advanced Auto Parts to have the diagnostics ran on the car. The only issue that came up was that the battery was getting to be towards end life and was advised I would need to replace by fall. At this time the car was around 50K miles. The issues progressively got worse over time when in August the car experienced full stalling moments when trying to turn left across several lanes of traffic putting both myself and family and others at risk of accidents. The car also began to have a shudder towards the end of August early September. At this time I had the battery replaced. The car ran better for a day and then the issues started back up again and finally a code to have the engine checked came on. Brought to an auto parts store and they advised no codes were pulling. I took the car to the dealership I purchased it from and they confirmed the car needed a replacement transmission. Scheduled an appointment at a Ford dealership to have the car examined and they confirmed the transmission issue and the need for a replacement. Now the car is 4K miles past the 60K mil

My 2022 Ford Edge suffered a catastrophic internal mechanical failure of the 8F35 8-speed automatic transmission and torque converter assembly. The Ford dealership service department dropped the pan and found heavy metal shavings, confirming total internal destruction. The vehicle is currently un-driveable and available for inspection at the dealership. While accelerating to merge onto a high-speed public highway, the transmission suffered a sudden, severe loss of propulsion. The engine revved, but the vehicle failed to accelerate, leaving us stranded at dangerously low speeds directly in front of oncoming semi-trucks. When the gears finally caught, the vehicle began shuddering and bucking violently. This unpredictable lack of power forced oncoming high-speed traffic to swerve violently around us, creating a near-fatal hazard before I could coast to the shoulder. This failure was officially diagnosed and confirmed by Ford factory-trained technicians, and an active safety escalation case file is logged under Case Number CXH-09567360-K1C1F9. There were absolutely no prior warning lights, dashboard messages, or drivability symptoms before the transmission disintegrated without warning.

Vehicle is loosing power. New battery installed, and that battery is quickly draining as well. Recall issues not rectified as of 8/3/26

I bought my 2022 ford edge (AWD Titanium) last year and not too long after that I experienced transmission shudder. I recently spoke with a technician about this and he had mentioned that other ford edges are having the same issue as mine to the point that ford has issued a TSB on this subject. I'm sure i don't need to state the danger of the possibility of my transmission going out on the road.

Shuddering and jerking from 20-40 mph. Dealer reports torque converter and planetary gear problems requiring expensive repairs or replacement of the transmission.

My 2022 Ford Edge Titanium (equipped with the 8F35 transmission) is exhibiting severe shuddering, jerking, harsh shifting, lurching, and hesitation. I just received the $8,500 cost estimate to rebuild the transmission on my car that is only 3 years old due to the torque converter failure. These faulty Ford Motor Co transmissions are on back-order due to so many failures across the country. This high out-of-pocket repair cost count is HALF of the money I still currently owe on this vehicle. It is available for inspection if someone comes to inspect it within the next couple of weeks because I have no choice but to have it repaired. I am a nurse who has a job to get to on a daily basis. It causes severe shuddering, harsh shifting, and sudden loss of power when I am traveling and trying to accelerate in traffic or cross dangerous intersections. It has been thoroughly inspected by a certified transmission mechanic who is very well versed on this same particular issue with all of these particular Ford Edge transmissions that enter his shop on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. Their were no warning lamps, messages, and no other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The issues first starting appearing around a year after purchasing the car, so probably around XXX. My torque converter is malfunctioning, there are no warning lights, and my car only started driving differently very recently in the past couple of weeks. According to the Ford mechanic my car has been throwing error codes since early May. The dealership was able to confirm that this happens, and that my torque converter needs to be replaced. My car is only four years old and only has 75,000 miles on it. Ford refuses to do anything to help with this almost $8000 repair. They also issued a recall for the backup camera, update was pushed to my car that was supposed to correct it, my backup camera now goes black frequently when I am reversing.

The motorized track assembly separated from the moonroof interior sunshade on my 2022 Ford Edge, leaving the sunshade drooping down in the passenger compartment. While my vehicle is just out of the standard bumper to bumper warranty period, I feel Ford Motor Company should issue a repair recall to all affected owners to fix this issue.

The vehicle jerks while changing from 1st to 2nd shaking the engine. I have had 2 transmission flushes which help for a moment then it behave the same way jerking while shifting gears. The vehicle asks like it does not want accelerate at times while shifting gears as well

When in drive , going in to park, as soon as you turn dial, it jumps to park, so no neutral or reverse capability. And pops a code of Shift system fault.

They did an update and my back up camera stoped working

My 2022 Ford Edge (approximately 97,000 miles) experiences a persistent shuddering condition that is most noticeable at speeds below 60 mph. The shudder can be felt through the vehicle and is sometimes perceived as an engine misfire. There are no warning lights or diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present. This condition matches exactly the symptoms described in Ford Technical Service Bulletin 25-2154 (Torque Converter Shudder, issued May 5, 2025), which applies to 2019-2022 Ford Edge vehicles equipped with the 8F35 transmission built on or before June 30, 2022. Ford has also issued Customer Satisfaction Program 25L02 related to the Transmission Control Assembly on this same platform. Despite Ford formally acknowledging this issue through both a TSB and a CSP, no repair has been offered to me at no cost, and my vehicle remains unrepaired. I am concerned that Ford's response has been inadequate given the known nature of this defect. I am submitting this complaint to create an official record and to request that NHTSA investigate whether a safety recall is warranted for this known transmission issue affecting 2019-2022 Ford Edge vehicles.

The entire passenger side panel flew off into traffic while driving. It was an entire disaster and I've never seen anything like this before. We're told by the dealerships this has happened before by several vehicles.

On Wednesday May 13th the car started acting a little jerky whence putting car in reverse like normal. There was a thunk sound. But it still shifted. We then drove the car about 10 miles. Then later in the day attempted to drive home. It’s was over-roving while driving. Acting erratic. We pulled into a tire place to see if something was stuck underneath. The check engine light was on and there was an error message saying broken parking brake? They said to have it towed to a Transmission Specilist. To our horror. They are saying it needs a new transmission! A 4 yr old car? This is not normal. It worked fine until now. It would not move out of second or third gear. It nearly crashed.

I am reporting an ongoing and concerning issue with my 2022 Ford Edge. My vehicle has begun hesitating when pressing the accelerator and jerking or skipping, mainly when going from cruising/coasting to accelerating. Some days the issue is worse than others, but it has progressively made the vehicle feel unsafe to drive. At times, it feels as though the vehicle may break down while driving on the interstate in heavy city traffic with my child. After researching this issue, I have found that many other 2022 Ford Edge owners are experiencing the same symptoms, with the torque converter frequently identified as the cause. We had it scanned for codes even though nothing was showing up on the dashboard, and a code of U2107-68 came up, which doesn't make sense. This appears to be a widespread and recurring problem rather than an isolated incident. This behavior is not normal and raises serious concerns regarding drivability, safety, and long-term damage to the transmission. Given how common this issue appears to be among 2022 Ford Edge vehicles, I strongly believe this warrants further investigation and the establishment of a recall. Owners should not be financially responsible for a known and recurring manufacturing defect. I am requesting that Ford address this issue promptly and take responsibility for repairs associated with this problem. My family appreciates your review.

Ford failed to provide me with timely updates regarding recall campaign 26S09 as required by law. They said a remedy would be available by 27 April 2026. That date has now passed and there is still no remedy nor any updates about when a remedy would be available.

Antifreeze intrusion into motor. I was driving on the interstate going 77mph cruise control set. Lost power dropped to 65mph without warning. RPM shot up to 4500. Trouble accelerating. Limped the car home, took to have looked at. Was told need new engine do antifreeze in combustion chamber.

The transmission failed, yes it’s available for inspection. The car stopped while I was driving putting my life at risk to get into a crash with other vehicles. Yes it’s been confirmed by an independent auto shop. It has not been inspected by manufacturer, police or insurance. Insurance says it’s not covered so they didn’t give it the time of day to inspect. No warnings that I knew of.

2022 Ford Edge Gear selector goes in drive and does not move, lamp says shift system malfunction.

The contact stated that the failure started occurring some time after purchasing the vehicle brand new. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it remained for 4-5 weeks for repairs. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted, causing the vehicle to hit the rear passenger's side door of another parked and unoccupied vehicle. The contact stated that, prior to the crash, the rearview camera failed to make a beeping sound to alert that there was a vehicle in the near proximity of the vehicle. The contact's vehicle sustained rear bumper damage and unknown panel damage. The other vehicle sustained dents. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injury sustained. No police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while entering an onramp at 40 MPH, the vehicle in front of her vehicle came to an abrupt stop, and the contact crashed into the vehicle. The contact stated that only the front driver side knee air bags deployed upon impact. The contact was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was treated for pain in her chest as well as an injury to her left carotid artery. Due to the severity of her injury, the contact was transported to another hospital, where several tests, including a CT scan, EKG, ultrasound, and X-rays, were performed. The contact remained in the hospital overnight and was given medication for her injuries. A police report was filed. The other driver did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home, where an insurance adjuster inspected the vehicle. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had yet been notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

This car I bought a year ago from the dealership has stalled out numerous times. It has been to the dealership multiple times to be fixed. The battery has been replaced along with the fuel pump twice. The car has been to the dealership several times. They can not seem to figure out the problem. I am not sure what to do. But this is becoming a hazard on the road.

Vehicle started shuddering. Year is a 2022 so less than 5 years old. My son and I both drive this vehicle and the car starts to slow and jerk making it unsafe to drive. Taken vehicle to many shops who could not find the problem. Finally took it to Ford and they confirmed the torque converter is failing. I bought this vehicle because I thought it would be a safe family vehicle and boy was I wrong. Please make this right. I've done my research and I've seen many complaints about this same exact problem. Noone in this current economy has 11,000 to put into a vehicle I still have 6 years to pay on. This vehicle is new and should not need a new transmission.

Airbag System Failure Warning - Dealer is unable to diagnose The ford pass app alerted me that my airbag system was not functioning and instructed me to not drive the vehicle and to have it towed to a dealership. This too me seemed like a very serious alert. I immediately called the dealer and brought the vehicle in to have it looked at. During the call the dealership technician confirmed for me that the problem had persisted for a couple of days prior and was concerned that I just found out about it. Naturally the day I took it in the light went off. The technician looked at it for over a day and ultimately said they could not determine the cause. They then advised me to continue driving the vehicle and only return when the warning appears again. I called Ford to get their take on this problem and to ask for help, and I got the same response, that there is nothing that the dealer can do unless the light is actively on. This contradicts fords own safety warning and leaves me driving a vehicle that may have a non-functional airbag system. I am reporting this because it appears to be a potential safety defect, and the dealership was unable to repair it. I am not sure if this is a defect of the airbag system itself, or the system that monitors the safety of the vehicle. If there is a couple days of specific warnings that ford and the dealer has access too, I wouldn't think that they would need the light to be actively on for diagnosis. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, West Alabama Ford of Fayette (2024 Temple Ave N, Fayette, AL 35555); where it was determined that the vehicle needed the software update. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

As a result, the contact's vehicle T-boned the work vehicle, which came to a stop. The front driver's side air bag and the front passenger side air bag did not deploy. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving in the snow, the vehicle slid on black ice and hit a tree, where it came to a stop. The front driver's side air bag and the front passenger side air bag did not deploy. The passenger-side mirror was damaged, and the vehicle had scratches on the passenger side. The rearview camera is not working

I was driving to work, was approx 15 miles into trip when the wrench sign came on the dash, within the next 5 to 10 miles the vehicle starting shifting weird, by the next 5 miles as I pulled to stop light the vehicle had hard shifting down and would be hesitant to move when pushing on gas and within the next few miles continued to get worse and started smelling a burnt smell. Pulled into hospital parking lot and had a pwertrain failure on the ford app. Edge Titium 2022 with approx 91000 miles, mostly highway miles, towed to dealership, extended warranty only will cover certain amount of transmission which now leaves me either getting a used with only a 6 month guarantee or paying for a new one. Prior to this there had been no shifting or other indicators that the transmission had any problems.

I was in a car accident the doors had locked me & the other passengers in the car we had to kick & yank on the door for the car door to open also had to be cut out the car .

As we were driving the vehicle it started to hesitate then would begin slipping as it shifted to the point it had to be babied as you drove it. Less than 10k miles out of warranty and only three years old. All of the previous awd edge models had a recall by Ford to cover what I learned was a failing torque converter, requiring a full transmission rebuild. This model has yet to be covered even though it is having the exact same problems as previous versions.

I was driving down the road in Sioux Falls and went to go on a green light and pushed on accelerator and car hesitated. It finally decided to go and started jerking and going thru all of the gears at once. It did this several times on the way home. There was a lot of traffic out also. The next day I was driving from my house in Harrisburg and it started jerking and deacceralting on its own (with traffic behind me). I got to the stop sign and kept smelling smoke. I shut the car off and restarted it and could only drive 10 miles per hour to get to the shop. This has happened 5 different times. I got to the shop and they said it was my transmission. They stated they hooked it up to computer and threw codes out. 8 days later I took to another shop and they stated the same thing (this shop took my car for test drive and understood what I was talking about). I called Ford about it and they stated they could not help me and hung up. It is a safety issue. I could of been crossing railroad tracks when this happened and a train could of been coming down the tracks.

-Yes it's available to inspect. -Drivers seat heater overheated and caused 2nd degree burns on 10-20% of my body. No warning lights or alerts. - yes it's been reproduced by mechanic. - no it has not been inspected. - no warning lamps. No error codes. No messages. No other warning.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report an ongoing and concerning issue with my 2022 Ford Edge. My vehicle has begun hesitating when pressing the accelerator and jerking between 20 mph and 40 mph. Some days the issue is worse than others, but it has progressively made the vehicle feel unreliable and unsafe to drive. At times, it feels as though the vehicle may break down while in motion. After researching this issue, I have found that many other Ford Edge owners are experiencing the same symptoms, with the torque converter frequently identified as the cause. This appears to be a widespread and recurring problem rather than an isolated incident. Additionally, the vehicle will coast between approximately 2,000 and 5,000$. This behavior is not normal and raises serious concerns regarding drivability, safety, and long-term damage to the transmission. Given how common this issue appears to be among Ford Edge vehicles, I strongly believe this warrants further investigation and the establishment of a recall. Owners should not be financially responsible for a known and recurring manufacturing defect. The vehicle hesitates, bucks, and surges when accelerating from low speed 0-25 mph up to around 50mph making it difficult and hazardous merging into traffic and other driving situations. The hesitation, bucking, and surging is getting progressively worse and occurs at higher speeds now.
