2017 Ford Edge

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Lincoln MKC, Mustang, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, F-450 SD, 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, 2015-2018 Edge, Transit Connect, 2016-2019 F-550 SD, Transit, 2017-2019 Econoline, and 2019 Ranger vehicles. The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.

Risk. A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted, or blank image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. Ford owners will receive letters in phases, beginning January 2026 and June 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S89. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V270. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 8, 2025.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The rear brake jounce hose may rupture and leak brake fluid.

Risk. A brake fluid leak can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the brake jounce hoses and adjust brake jounce hoses with no damage present, free of charge. Interim owner letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed September 8, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated August 2026. Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Risk. A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.

Risk. A ruptured front brake hose will cause a brake fluid leak, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S42.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ford Edge and 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

Risk. If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque converters, free of charge. The recall began on July 5, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S16 (S2). Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 17V-427.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Edge vehicles equipped with the optional Panoramic Vista Roof. These vehicles may have an improperly welded windshield header, reducing the vehicle's lateral structural integrity. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

Risk. If the vehicle has reduced lateral structural integrity, the occupants are at an increased risk of injury in the event of a side-impact crash.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will repair the windshield header, free of charge. The recall began May 18, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for the recall is 17C05.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles and 2017 Lincoln Continental vehicles. In the event of a crash, the driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate or the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk. During deployment, if the air bag does not fully inflate or the cushion detaches, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag module, free of charge. The recall began June 16, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17C02.

2.0 L Ecoboost the service engine light came on 04/30/26 by 05/20/26 I had to have my vehicle towed to the dealership on 05/27/26 my engine had to be replaced with no credit from Ford. After paying $8,044.49 I was able to pick up my vehicle on 06/16/26. During this 3 week period I also had to pay for a rental vehicle which was not reimbursed.

There was no heat coming out of the air vents when the cabin temperature was set for heating and high temperature. There were no warning lamps or messages on the display, or any other symptoms. After two weeks of this issue, I took it to the dealer to have them investigate the issue. The dealer service representative immediately noticed the coolant reservoir was empty. They said it was not safe to drive and they needed to do an immediate diagnostic and inspect to determine the root cause. The next day they concluded there was a coolant intrusion in cylinder #3 upon completion of a thorough diagnostics and inspection. They said the only repair fix for this issue is to replace the entire long block (engine assembly).

Took my 2017 Edge in for Check Engine light ON. Tech found Code P0302 & P0316 for misfire code. Followed TSB-22-2229 and inspected for coolant leak. Found coolant intrusion in cylinder #2. Assessed that a new engine is needed (long block repair/replace). Quoted $12,623.84 + tax. Advised that if I continue to drive my vehicle “it would not last long.”

Driving the suv, and experienced power loss. Getting on expressway, the motor was acting erratic, and check engine light was on and off. Took to Ford dealer and they said the engine was no good, coolant leak. So I went to other dealers and all said the same. Finally went to Langs Automotive, and they did a long block engine replacement. The suv has 60,000 miles! Without the replacement the suv was a danger to drive.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated and experienced a loss of motive power. The engine vibrated, and black smoke emitted from the exhaust. The check engine warning light illuminated. Eventually, the vehicle stalled and was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion in cylinders #1 and #2 after inspection. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the failure was not covered under the manufacturer's extended warranty associated with the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 58,000.

Driving the car and it started to shake and smoke. Was at highway speed and it suddenly loss power and slowed. There is a known TSB from Ford for coolant intrusion and this is what is occurring.

Cracking in the engine blocking leaking coolant into the cylinder. Engine light came on misfiring and smell of coolant. Engine had to be replaced.

Our 2017 edge with the 2.0 eco boost has been diagnosed with coolant intrusion into cylinder #2. Only repair is a new long block. It has 74000 miles.

Recurring misfire codes, service engine light comes on and goes off. have been told there is investgation for intrusive coolant defect.

The vehicle overheated one time and was taken in to be looked at immediately. We received confirmation that there was a coolant leak due to Ford's faulty design of the engine. The engine needs to be completely replaced and only has 57,000 miles on it.

Check engine light was coming on and off intermittently over a week or so and the car seemed to be running rough. I took it to the dealership, and they said there was coolant intrusion in the engine so I had to replace and pay for a new engine.

The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the vehicle and the vehicle shuddered. The TPMS and an unknown brake-related warning light was illuminated. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the front brake flexible hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact mailed the manufacturer to attempt to notify the manufacturer of the issue however, the contact never received a response. The failure mileage was approximately 66,195.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

I had an issue with the coolant intrusion and engine coolant over temperature warning. Has my car towed to my local Ford dealer and had to have a new engine out in. Ford customer service wrote down what I owed except for approximately $2761. The case with Ford is: CAS 40786472-F5V9C8. I think the whole thing should have been covered. If there is a recall I would like to be reimbursed. I have documentation of everything.

I read on my news feed today about issues with a 2017 Ford Edge that there are problems with coolant leaking into the combustion chamber and that we should report this to the NHTSA. We just traded in our 2017 edge that had this problem. In August of 26 I had a check engine light come on and the engine started running very rough, I had O'Reilly's hook up the diagnostic tool and it showed it needed a tune up. I put new coil packs and spark plugs in and this did not take care of the problem. I took the vehicle to Performance Truck Country in Woods Cross Utah, the found that there was coolant leaking into the #3 cylinder via a warped block. Please see attached document and pics. Experienced car can be rough on start. Check engine light came on in the process. I fear the reported possible premature head gasket failure perhaps cracks between the cylinders. Coolant might be migrating into the combustion chambers, leading to misfiring, corrosion, and total engine failure.
