The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 - 7 MPH, the vehicle failed to stop as needed. The brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond. The brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. There was a squeaking sound coming from the vehicle. While making a left turn the vehicle shut off. The driver sustained a strain to the foot while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was towed to a residence. The contact called AAA Roadside Assistance. The contact stated that brakes service and an oil change were performed prior to the failure. The mechanic informed the contact that the failure was associated with the brake booster. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and it was confirmed that there was no recall associated with the failure. The manufacturer was contacted by phone, but no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.

Over the last four months, the right shoulder harness strap on our Baby Trend car seat has spontaneously disengaged from the rear metal splitter plate on five separate occasions: three times discovered prior to loading our toddler into the seat, and twice while the vehicle was actively in motion on the road (including once on the interstate). The entire car seat and all original components remain in our possession and are fully available for inspection upon request. When the shoulder harness strap slips off the splitter plate, the harness instantly loses all tension. On the two occasions while driving, the strap completely detached, leaving our toddler unrestrained. During the most recent incident on the interstate, our daughter leaned forward and the unattached harness strap fell completely through the back slot of the seat shell. Had a sudden braking event or collision occurred during these episodes, the harness would have failed entirely to restrain her, exposing her to critical risk of severe injury or ejection. The car seat has not yet been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or official authorities. We personally inspected the splitter plate and harness straps; no visible breakage, bending, or physical damage is present on the metal plate or webbing. The detachment occurs spontaneously during normal use due to a component failure/design flaw. We have reached out to Baby trends, informing them of the issue, and advise them of two found reviews so far where ot

Break Booster Break fell to the floor, slow to stop, spongy. I was able to put on my hazards and roll to safety stop. Huge risk if I was going faster or turning a curve. Dangerous to me and others to not being able to stop The problem hasn’t been taken to the shop yet as it was closed and I had the same problem in 2025 and 2023 which were confirmed and fixed with ford parts. I am suspecting it is the same issue. Even if replaced the car is likely not safe wi the this part failing 3 times in less than 4 years. No warnings or symptoms, just falls to the floor and spongy break reaction

The brake pedal sunk all the way to the floor before braking. This has happened multiple times and now there is a leak in the ABS which we are in need of a ABS pump. Was told by mechanic that this is an ongoing problem with the Ford Edges. And, the real problem is the mechanic cannot find a replacement pump for it. Multiple locations were contacted but nothing is available. My Edge is a 2011 and currently has 84,500 miles. It’s a dangerous situation when the pedal sinks to the floor before stopping. There are no ABS warnings that pop up on the dash. Need to know what Ford is doing about this.

The brake pedal does not feel right and the car continues to roll. My mechanic found that the brake pedal vacuum boosters commonly fail on this model. He repaired it and less than a year later it has failed again. I heard the air leak when pressing the pedal and the car does not stop, it continues to roll. I've had to park it because this is a safety issue. I do not want to risk my life or cause property damage. The car has less than 130,000 miles on it and no warning lights or messages come on the dash for this. This repair was over $600 but the manufacturer should fix this and make sure it's right and safe.

Sometimes it takes a while for it to start moving again.

Originally when I purchased my, 2011 Ford Edge SEL 3.5L v6. I was informed upon purchasing the vehicle that the rear view camera was malfunctioning. I told the car dealer that was no big issue that I would take care of the problem. This was in around Sept 21, 2021. I did buy a new camera and replaced the malfunctioning camera. Which it worked just fine until the issued recall for the 2021 ford edge when my vehicle started showing the rear view camera unavailable. Which was weird since it worked completely fine the day before. I did a full software update to the system. The first time it said update successful. I then ended up resetting and full system factory reset and went to perform the software update to Sync3. My rear view camera has been unaffectively fixed after the problem. First arose. I did repair a faulted wire in the harness which didn't work either. I suspect that it still may be a software issue or that the business I work for is somehow blocking the signal. I work for Maple Bear Inc doing business as Instacart LLC. It does seem since the last revamping of the instacart driver platform was right around the time of the rear view camera malfunctioning. It may be a manufacturing issue as well. Either way it needs to be immediately resolved as this is a federal issue of non-compliance of vehicle safety regulations.

I looked into it and it turns out THOUSANDS of others have gone through this too. Someone needs to have this car/engine PULLED off the market. Second issue: sometimes the door ajar light is displayed on dash when doors are closed. Usually indicates driver door. Close several times and then it will finally work again. Has caused battery to run down in past if not caught before leaving vehicle. This is random as to when it happens, but I see online that it’s a common problem.

Power steering leak(took it 3times to get it serviced), breaks(leak), transmission fluid leak(have to refill transmission fluid every week), electrical (dash board lights go off and on sometimes and do other funny stuff), back up My camera doesn’t work(car has blind spots so I need the camera to work), roof windows (work when they want), trunk door (closes by itself hitting me at closing). Check lights, tire light is on constantly and on since I bought the car, also oil light but now only sometimes since I keep putting oil and transmission fluid. And has something missing on the front windshield and sensor device of some sort And sometimes when I break I feel the vehicle wanting to go faster instead of stopping. Jerks. I took my vehicle to ford and they pretty much ignored me making me there was no solution. No reports or anything. I called several times to take my car to get serviced telling them I felt unsafe but they pretended they couldn’t here me they didn’t want to deal with me cause my vehicle was too old 2011 ford edge limited. I don’t think it’s old I need a little guidance here before I take it to the next step. Please help me fix my vehicle my insurance at the time told me it has two recalls and ford shined me off three or four times telling me no instead of helping

ABS module valves stick open resulting in low soft brake pedal. Master cylinder has been replaced and vacuum bled with problem still occurring. I feel this is a safety item and ford should stand behind this issue till the end of service life of the vehicle. the repair part is hard to find and expensive.

I have a 2011 ford edge sel the brakes are hard as a rock causing more force to be used to stop the vehicle even being driven under 5mph. This is a major saftey issue that should've been in ford's previous recall. The vehicle was manufactured at the Oakville plant in Canada which was ford's recalled vehicles. I contacted ford and they informed me it was vin specific which my vehicle wasn't covered by the recall but yet it's having the same issues as the others that were recalled from the same assembly facility. I was told to take it to a dealership and keep the receipts of it being fixed just incase there is a recall on the vehicle later on. I'm not the only person having issues with these issues with less then 200,000 miles on their vehicles. Ford knew there was a problem with the vehicles which they should have recalled all the ones from that assembly plant and fixed them.
Complaints 1-50 of 1,803, newest first, reproduced as filed.
Going by the federal record, it is one of the Edge years to avoid: owners filed 1,803 complaints, 2.3 times as many as a typical Edge year. The most common complaint is about the electrical system (31%). In NHTSA crash tests it scored 4 stars overall.
What is the most common problem with the 2011 Ford Edge?
The electrical system: 558 of the 1,803 complaints (31%) are about it. Owners most often say it sets off warning lights on the dash (18%) and drains the battery or stops charging (4%). The typical report comes at 55,000 miles.
How many recalls does the 2011 Ford Edge have?
3 safety recalls on file with NHTSA, the most recent filed Feb 24, 2011. The largest, 10V659000, covered 14,737 vehicles. Recall repairs are free at a dealer; whether a specific car still has one open depends on its VIN.
At what mileage do 2011 Ford Edge problems start?
Half of the complaints that record an odometer reading came in before 58,000 miles. For the electrical system the midpoint is 55,000 miles.
Has NHTSA investigated the 2011 Ford Edge?
Yes, once. PE16012 ("Door Ajar Warning Light Always On") was opened Sep 28, 2016 and closed Mar 20, 2017.
Are there service bulletins for the 2011 Ford Edge?
The manufacturer filed 60 technical service bulletins and other notices for it with NHTSA, most of them about the electrical system (9), the body and frame (9) and the engine (8). They include a warranty extension, 13N02 S3, filed Feb 20, 2024. A bulletin is a repair instruction to dealers, not a recall: the fix is usually free only under warranty.
Reading this record
Complaint volume is well above typical for a single model year.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
