Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, MKX, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

Risk. A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 4, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Edge, Transit Connect and Lincoln MKX and 2020 Escape and Lincoln Corsair vehicles. The start/stop accumulator endcap may have missing or loose bolts.

Risk. Missing or loose bolts on the start stop accumulator endcap could result in a transmission fluid leak and may progress to a loss of transmission function. A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the start/stop accumulator, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S49.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 Edge vehicles. The driver-side seat belt pretensioner anchor may have been improperly crimped, possibly resulting in the seat belt webbing detaching from the anchor in the event of a crash.

Risk. In the event of a crash, seat belt webbing that detaches from the anchor will not properly restrain the driver, increasing their risk of injury.

Remedy. Ford has notified owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver's side pretensioner assembly, free of charge. The recall began November 12, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S37.

2019 Ford Edge SEL internal torque converter shutters at 25-60miles an hr. Took to ford garage varied that it is the torque converter is bad with metal in transmission pan guild. Extended warranty called they only want to put a used transmission in with 45000 miles on it when my car only has 57000 miles and when I bought it in 02/12/22 it has 26,231 miles on it . It is known to have this problem with transmissions for that yr . There should be a recall on it since so many people that have reported this to ford . So now I have to come up with around $2000.00 for a new transmission bc warranty company refuses to pay for a new transmission . Per dealership at 69,000 miles, need to repair torque converter and planetary assembly or replace transmission

Car started running running roughly with white smoke coming out the exhaust. As since researched, it’s a known issue, the coolant intrusion into the cylinder. Repair shop says it needs a new engine. I called Ford to check to see if they could offer any assistance but they couldn’t, the car is just out of warranty (2019 with 62,000 miles). They opened a case #CXH-09690702 and advised to keep all repair receipts in case Ford should ever do a recall in the future.

My suv has been stuttering/hesitating. Especially going uphills. After replacing quite a few things, we took it to ford for a diagnostic test. They report that the torque converter has gone bad. It started Aug 28 2026. Ford diagnosed it yesterday Oct 19. Waiting on fords printed report.

The vehicle shudders and misses bad at this has been going on for several months. Wehaditscanned by a transmission shop and the said it was spark plug trouble. We replaced them twice and did not fix problem. We had it scanned again and was coil packs which we replaced twice an it did not fix it. Ford dealership did a scan and said it was the torque converter and would be $4000.00 to fix. Transmission shop quoted about 2800.00. They said to wait till mid October because Ford was making a valve body that might fix the problem.

In late August 2026, I was driving my 2019 Ford Edge SEL (2.0L EcoBoost, AWD, 8F35 8-speed automatic) at approximately 100,085 miles with my young son as a passenger. After coming to a normal stop at a stop sign, the vehicle would not engage any gear when I attempted to pull away. It rolled in neutral, with no drive power, approximately 150 feet past the stop sign before coming to a stop. The rotary shifter then automatically returned itself to Park. The wrench and check engine warning lights were illuminated. From that point on, the transmission would not engage any gear, including Neutral. Every time I tried selecting a gear, the shifter automatically returned to Park. The vehicle was completely immobilized and had to be towed home, and later towed to a Ford dealership. Since the day I purchased the vehicle, it exhibited transmission shudder at speeds below approximately 30-35 mph, a condition documented for this model year in TSB 25-2154, as well as occasional rough shifting at random times with no consistent pattern. The dealer service center the vehicle is currently with diagnosed the failure and recommended a transmission replacement, quoting $6,957.94 for parts and $3,325 for labor + taxes/fees for a total of $11,015.62. This was a sudden, complete loss of motive power while pulling away from a stop with a child in the vehicle. My car is having an extremely hard time accelerating and when it does its shifting rough, shuttering and lagging. I cant tell if the transmission is slipping or if its coil packs and spark plugs but its struggling. It throws no codes which keeps everyones hands tied because we dont even know which direction to go with it. My warranty covers power train but with no codes being thrown, no one is honoring the warranty.

No accident. The vehicle will jerk and shrugs when accelerating. Losses performance and has a high rpm reading. I'm not sure of the date but it was like 5 months ago. It doesn't do it every time I drive it. More often than not though.

•Torque converter failure diagnosed by dealership available for inspection until scheduled repair work. •In danger of complete failure; could cause highway accident if sudden failure or personal danger if broken down along roadways. •Only inspected by dealership service dept. •No indicator lights or warning lamps. I did notice RPM gauge needle jumping slightly several weeks before shudder was felt physically.

Experienced a shudder when accelerating from a stop, increasing in intensity as time went on. There was no warning lamp or any other indication from the vehicle system that there was a problem. After a few weeks of increasing concerns, I brought the car in to my Ford Dealer for diagnostics. Ford Dealer confirmed this was due to a failing torque converter, which is very common in this vehicle, and a Technical Service Bulletin had just been issued for this. I was advised not to drive it, as it would eventually cause severe damage to the transmission. Additionally, continued driving could lead to sudden acceleration loss, engine stalling in traffic, and dangerous transmission overheating which are serious safety concerns for myself and drivers around me. I contacted Ford for financial assistance with this repair because they were fully aware of this common problem with their vehicles, and my car was just out of warranty. Ford offered to pay 40% of the repair, but I still ended up paying over $4,000 out of pocket to repair an issue that was a result of their faulty factory product that should have been part of a mass recall. It took 7 long weeks for this repair to be completed due to low availability of several parts that were on back-order.

Replaced transmission in April 2025. On 9/14 error messages displayed powertrain failure. 9/15 car would not reverse. At shop pending diagnostic

Transmission failure, specially torque converter. It's my primary vehicle and my children and I are at risk daily due to delay in the system when accelerating and shuddering. You can't accelerate quickly because the car can't keep up. There is the chance of complete failure while driving putting others and myself at risk of an accident. Due to overheating elements an engine fire is also a valid concern. Other components have started to go bad on the vehicle after this. Problem was reproduced with a service agent at the dealer. The dealer scheduled an in depth transmission study. It found a failing torque converter. The dealer and service team have inspected it and determined it needed replaced. PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED DUE TO THE INFLUX OF THIS BEING A KNOWN ISSUE CAUSING SAFETY ISSUES FOR MANY EXPECTED TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLES INCLUDING MYSELF BECAUSE IT'S MY PRIMARY VEHICLE. Today is September 16, it was diagnosed and parts ordered September 8. Parts may not even be available until October 5, that's if they are no longer back ordered. That doesn't include the time it takes the dealer to get your repairs scheduled. Best case scenario it's fixed before winter. Worst case it leaves our family hurt, stranded, or with other compiling issues. No warning for this issue.

-took my vehicle into the dealership after it left my wife and kids stranded in the middle of the highway. Codes came up as a transmission problem. Took it to the dealership and they said it needs a whole new transmission. Car only has 115k miles. Transmission fluid has been replaced 2 times. Dealer has confirmed and diagnosed the issues.

Torque converter began to fail around 50k miles. Took to Ford for service under TSB last July at around 60k miles, but performance has steadily deteriorated to present, around 80k miles, while waiting for service parts. Issue has expanded to cause violent engine surging, which I worry will increase the risk of a crash. Ford quoted $11k to replace the torque converter, a part they acknowledge is faulty.

The engine blew due to coolant getting into the engine. This happened in 2025 and I had to have the engine replaced and pay completely out of pocket for it. I see that there is an investigation into 2015-2018 Ford Edge motors. Mine is a 2019 but has the same engine and had the same issue.

Accelerated from a stop sign and engine cut out, leaving me stopped dead in the middle of the street, the engine would not restart after 4 tries, I let it sit, I googled the incident, and was told to let car sit for a minute and try to restart. I let it sit for a minute and it restarted like nothing happened. Google said there was a sensor fault because of an error temperature reading in the crank position sensor, so the car shut down to protect the engine. I think this could have been a dangerous situation, if there had been traffic. the temperature gauge read normal.

Engine coolant leak inside the cylinder Local mechanic inspected and confirmed engine head gasket blown off. Car driven only 66k miles.

My vehicle experienced a serious engine failure after exhibiting symptoms that included loss of coolant, sputtering/rough running, a check-engine light, loss of power, and the vehicle shutting down. I have since been advised that the engine has failed and requires significant repair or replacement.

The engine failed in 2024, leaving me stalled on the side of a major highway. More recently, in August 2026, my vehicle began experiencing problems shifting into reverse. A warning message stating, “Selected Gear will engage at low speed,” would appear. I contacted my local Ford dealership, and they stated that the transmission fluid was in poor condition, although they were unable to reproduce the specific shifting issue I was experiencing at that time. On September 3, 2026, while driving to work, my vehicle began losing transmission pressure and was unable to accelerate while I was traveling on the main highway. I contacted my local Ford dealership again, and I was informed that the transmission pump was failing. The vehicle and transmission components are available for inspection upon request. My safety, my child's safety, and the safety of other drivers on the highway were put at risk. While traveling on a major highway, my vehicle suddenly lost the ability to accelerate. A complete loss of power or the vehicle stalling in traffic could have resulted in a serious accident, particularly with vehicles traveling behind me at highway speeds. Yes. My local Ford dealership has confirmed that the transmission pump is failing. The vehicle has been inspected/diagnosed by my local Ford dealership. My 2019-2021 Ford Edge, equipped with the 8F35 8-speed automatic transmission, is experiencing severe transmission shuddering, harsh shifting, and jerking symptoms consistent with premature torque converter and internal mechanical failure. I had to pay $800 out-of-pocket for dealership diagnostics and a transmission fluid flush to address these severe driveability issues. Despite the flush, the vehicle continues to shift poorly, presenting an unpredictable driving hazard during acceleration and highway merging. Ford corporate has acknowledged the systemic nature of this transmission defect by negotiating a potential 100,000-mile extended warranty with me. However, a software update or a fluid flush does not remedy the underlying hardware failure of the torque converter. I am filing this complaint to urge the NHTSA to open a formal safety investigation into the 8F35 transmission defect, as it poses a sudden loss of acceleration risk on public roadways.

It just started happening. Sweet smelling white fumes emitting from exhaust pipes and engine. Mechanic said not to drive it. It was a head gasket issue. Repair cost estimate at $10,000. I needed a car . Fix or buy?? No time to fix. Sold to car yard for $3,800. Car was pristine. Garaged, about 50,000 miles. Caused a financial hardship and I was stranded 200 miles from home.

Took into a Ford dealership for running sluggish at low speed. Sensor and torque converter were bad.

My vehicle is experiencing transmission shuddering, and after taking it to an authorized Ford dealership for diagnosis. I was told that there is a problem involving the torque converter. I was initially quoted approximately $7,000 for the torque-converter repair and was subsequently advised that the dealership would recommend replacing the entire transmission at an estimated cost of approximately $11,200. There has been a recall, but my vehicle doesn't qualify. I initially reported a problem in May 2022 and they couldn't find anything wrong at that time. There are currently two Technical Service Bulletins that affect my vehicle. They are Ford TSB 21-2389 – 8F35 Transmission Shudder/Buck/Jerk and Ford TSB 26-2341 – Torque Converter Shudder (issued July 22, 2026). My vehicle has approximately 79,000 miles on it, this shouldn't happen with a car with this low of miles and this many issues with recalls and TSBs. I have been met with continual road blocks from Ford.

The car shudders and jerks when in certain gears and mph. The transmission is failing I was told by the Ford Dealer, Steven’s Ford and that the transmission should be rebuilt and torque converters need to be repaired. The car has 37,000 miles only. I have an invoice from Steven’s Ford for a diagnostic check up on the car but not repairs.

Every single time I accelerate between 20-40 miles per hour, the transmission shudders.

Was to be paid off in September and give our family some financial relief ,but the very end of July the transmission went in this car is what ford told me. They forgot to mention that the motor was about to go as well. We paid 60,000 in payments. To get screwed over by my local Ford! We had just left Canada wonderland on the 400 series in Canada. My car completely died. We were able to coast to side of the road. Tried to start it but it would only go a tiny bit not enough to get us home so there we are stranded on the side of the highway, because Ford didn't want to admit that the edge was a complete flop. We bought this brand new. It's a catastrophic failure they know this. Toyota offered us 800.00 😂 😂. I did sell it privately and was told that the motor was gone in it as well. At low speed, the transmission does not shift smoothly. Upon further acceleration past 40 mph, it continues to operate in normal fashion

I am having problems with my transmission; it puts itself into park when we tried to put it in gear. It has been sitting in my back driveway for almost a year as we can't drive it. When this happened, we had just pulled into my front driveway after a 2+ hour trip and put the car in park. Then without turning it off, went to put it in reverse to move it - the car BY ITSELF went into park - we Watched it and have it recorded!! We have taken it to dealerships within the months before this - to begin with, when it shuddered when it drove, but they told us it was a computer issue. It kept getting worse until this happened - thank God we weren't still traveling on the interstate when it put itself into park!!!

The vehicle has experienced transmission issues. I received a powertrain malfunction light in August, and the car suddenly had trouble shifting in low gears resulting in jerking. When driving, it continued to have issues. Then, it wouldn't go into reverse and the jerking increased before having it towed to get evaluated. There were no signs and it appears that MANY of these transmissions are reported to have issues.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned: Transmission - Torque Converter and associated parts. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Propulsion and control of gear shifting can come/go cause shuddering - especially between 20mph and 40mph. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Just the dealer mechanics. There is a TSB and Ford knows there are issues with this system. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No check engine or associated lights

My drivers side seat belt is getting stuck while pulling it out. It clicks and becomes stuck and I can’t put it on. When I do finally get it on I became stuck on 3 separate occasions and couldn’t physically get it off without help. I haven’t brought it to be inspected because my vin is not listed in the recall of driver side seatbelt. No lamps or messages prior.

Shudder at low speed gear. Changes

I have contacted several Ford service departments seeking repair of my defective 8F35 transmission. A diagnosis for which I paid $215 indicates a new planetary gearset and torque converter, along with miscellaneous small parts, are required. The repair quotation is $4,531. Although my car is now post-warranty, I believe full coverage is appropriate for two reasons: 1) This problem was first reported to and serviced by a Ford dealership while the factory powertrain warranty was in force. The dealer performed TSB 21-2389, a software reload, which provided only temporary resolution; 2) This is a well-known and well-documented factory defect involving the needle bearings in the planetary gearset. Failure of these bearings releases particulate into the fluid which then damages the torque converter. Based on the quotation, I requested and received help from Ford's Financial Goodwill Assistance program, but only 40% of the total cost. To obtain a higher amount requires the assistance of the Service Manager and others within the Ford hierarchy, but they are not interested in helping. Service departments I have dealt with successfully on previous occasions are not touching this 8F35 problem. My cynical side suspects something nefarious is happening behind the scenes, and satisfactory resolution will require a mandatory recall be issued by NHTSA.

Approx 102K miles, issues started May 2026, torque converter shudder, most noticeable at below speeds 60 mph, no dtc's present, traceable shudder event with ids/fdrs reading, sometimes perceived/felt as an engine misfire may be due to an internal issue with the torque converter. July 22, 2026 changed and refilled automatic transmission fluid and did not seem to help much.

The vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic where it was scanned with an OBD2 scanner; however, no failure codes were retrieved. The independent mechanic associated the failure with the transmission and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with a possible torque converter failure; however, the vehicle needed further diagnostic tests. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

I was experiencing shuddering, hard shifting, and jerking while driving my vehicle. I brought it into the shop and was told my transmission was bad. I was quoted $7500 for a re-built transmission, labor and reprogramming. My vehicle has 97,000 miles on but it isn't worth putting that kind of money into. I purchased my 2019 Ford Edge new and have been the only owner. I have maintained my vehicle, taken very good care of it an done all maintenance when suggested. It certainly should go further than 97,000 miles. I am extremely disappointed - - especially now after doing some research and found out that the 2019 Ford Edge is "known" for transmission issues but Ford has done nothing about it. Shame!

When accelerating at low speeds the transmission bucks and/or surges so that the car stutters. This is currently happening, two mechanics have checked and see no misfiring and there is no warning light showing but there is clearly some sort of issue with the transmission. This sounds very similar to a recall made in other Ford Edges, I am able to bring it in for inspection upon request. This constant jerking motion impacts safety of myself as the driver and my passengers as it's consistently changing the field of vision when it's pulsing and it is causing motion sickness on extended drives. This has started happening every time I drive and it is unavoidable.

The Torgue converted failed and is throwing metal into the transmission.

Our Edge titanium had been experiencing intermittant hesitation and shuttering on acceleration and decelleration for 3 or 4 weeks. The car has 105,000 miles on it. During this time frame the spark plugs were changed, the trans fluid was drained and replaced twice and an additive (Shutter fix) was put in. The shuttering and hesitation was becoming more frequent despited completing all of the reccomendations from a local mechanic. On XXX my wifte was diving home, when he slowed down to exit the hwy to enter the subdivision, the transmission just disengauged and an erro code appeared P07E6. (Stuck in Park) service soon. She had enough momentum to barely exit off [XXX], if there was on coming traffic she would have been a sitting duck. Se shut the car off and let it sit for a couple of minutes and the restarted it and headed the 2 blocks home. I Immediatly took it to the dealer. The got the code and said it indicated a Park Pawl failure. They said it must be sticking and the computer thought you were in park when you were driving so it shut things down. The dealer says he has had to replace several of these 8 speed transmissions at an out the door price of $11,000. He says if he can rebuild it, it might only be $7,500. Most mechanics in Spearfish say they have heard there are problems with the 8 speed transmission. I believe failing at 104,000 miles is a sign of a bad product. And this faulty Park Pawl is a safety hazzard that may get someone killed if it shuts down with on comin

Recently, the car started shuddering at 25-45 mph. We took it to the Ford dealer for an evaluation and were told that the torque converter and transmission are very damaged. They both need to be replaced at a cost of $10,000. We have only 61500 miles on the car. Further research has indicated that if we were to keep driving it, it could result in sudden failure, loss of driving power and possibly loss of control

My wife was driving her 2019 Ford Edge Titanium when the transmission started to shudder and clunk. Then the car completely shutdown in the middle of a busy intersection. This transmission failure at such a low mileage (less than 70,000 miles) is unacceptable and the risk of losing control of the car poses a safety concern.

At about 60,000 miles my 2019 does edge started to shutter at 25mph and it progressively got worse now it’s doing it and 25,35,45,55,65 mph down the road(rpm is always bouncing around never consistent ). no check engine lights or the repair symbol are on the dash I’ve been doing a lot more research and I do believe it’s the torque converter failing.

Transmission. Dealership service department stating torque converter internally failed. Need a new transmission or rebuild. The car is shuddering, does not take off smoothly, and jerks when accelerating and turning.

Transmission began to jerk at about 40 mph. Dealership said I needed a new transmission. There was a warning light came on teice and disappeared after I shut the cat down and restarted it.
