Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX vehicles. The driver's side air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Risk. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator or module with an alternate one, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 9, 2021 for the passenger side, and November 14, 2022 for the driver side. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21S12.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2005-2014 Mustang, 2004-2011 Ranger, 2009-2011 Mercury Milan, 2006 Ford GT, 2008-2012 Fusion, 2007-2010 Edge and Lincoln MKX, and 2009-2010 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. These vehicles may be equipped with a driver or passenger frontal air bag inflator used as a replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

Risk. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the frontal air bag, an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the driver and passenger air bag module, and replace either the module or the inflator, if necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 17, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21S05.

Defect. Bearing Technologies Ltd (Bearing) is recalling certain Duralast Wheel Spindles, part number DL930676K, sold as a service part for the front wheel hub spindle of 2007-2010 Ford Edge vehicles. The affected wheel spindles have wheel mounting studs with an oversized shoulder that can prevent the wheel from being installed correctly.

Risk. If the wheel is installed incorrectly, the wheel may vibrate or wobble, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Bearing will notify the distributors of the spindles. If the studs on a defective spindle are not loose, Bearing will replace the studs at no charge. If the studs on a defective spindle are loose, Bearing will replace the spindle assembly at no charge. Bearing will also pay shop labor for the remedy. The recall began on October 16, 2017. Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2007-2008 Lincoln MKX, and Ford Edge vehicles, manufactured June 15, 2006, to September 22, 2008, and originally sold, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. Due to corrosion from salt water exposure such as from road salt use, the affected vehicles may leak fuel from the fuel tank seam weld under the tank mounting reinforcement brackets.

Risk. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Interim notices were mailed to owners on December 12, 2014. The recall began on October 6, 2015. Dealers will inspect the vehicles and either clean and treat the fuel tank with a corrosion preventative or replace the tank, free of charge. Defect. FORD IS RECALLING 142 MY 2008 EDGE AND LINCOLN MKK ALL WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES. THE FUEL TANK WELD FIXTURE MAY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO A CONTAMINANT DURING PRODUCTION WHICH COULD CAUSE A DIMPLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FUEL TANK AT A SPOT WELD.

Risk. THIS DIMPLE COULD RESULT IN A FUEL LEAK OR A FUEL DRIP FROM THE TANK. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE FUEL TANK FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 11, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-866-437-7332.

The dealer was contacted several times and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue by phone. The contact was referred to the dealer for assistance.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The brake pedal stop bumper/stop-lamp switch bumper disintegrated and fell out. Without the bumper, the brake pedal no longer depresses the brake-light switch far enough, causing the brake lights to remain continuously illuminated. I still have the remaining pieces of the bumper and they are available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The brake lights remained on continuously even when the brake pedal was not being pressed. This could prevent drivers behind me from knowing when I am actually braking, increasing the risk of a rear-end collision. The continuously illuminated brake lights could also drain the vehicle’s battery. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer or independent repair facility. However, I reproduced the issue myself. When the missing bumper material is placed back at the contact point, it depresses the brake-light switch and the brake lights turn off normally. When the bumper is removed, the brake lights remain on. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The problem is the smell of gasoline when standing near the car. The associated recall has been evaluated by several dealers over the years. None have arranged to complete the recall.

Front axle snapped. Power steering rack faulty. Leaks all fluids other than oil! Tire stud snapped sent me into a ditch. Transmission has been rough and leaking and only 160k miles. Manual says no need to warm up car as it's got a magic part. Well transmission is blown after following manual to the T on matinece and operation. My family is a ford family! Minus one after this 08 edge can't believe they are allowed on the road. Help!!!!

The contact stated that two full sets of tires were replaced within a month. In addition, the contact stated that the tires were fractured down to the wire. The contact stated that someone informed the contact that sparks were noticed coming from the tires. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. My vehicle 2008 Ford edge had a safety recall from 2012 and the gas tank that the previous owners never had taken care of it or resolved. I purchased a car in February. I filled the gas tank. I parked it in my condo and I used my secondary car to go to work that day. Well, the management called me and said that my gas tank exploded and that there was fuel all over the condo parking lot. Had the fire department come and secure the car they took care of the gasoline in the parking lot and then I had it towed to Miller Ford when we found out that there was a recall on that gas tank. This car has been at this dealership three times it’s going tomorrow. This will be the fourth time for the same issue. I feel that this car is not safe. I feel that because nobody addressed this safety recall since 2012 that everything was corroded. I almost got into three accidents because the car stalled on me on three different occasions.

However, the vehicle experienced a fuel leak. The contact stated that the dealer applied a corrosion preventative to the fuel tank instead of replacing the fuel tank as expected. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

The internal water pump failed on my 2008 Ford Edge (3.5L V6), allowing coolant to leak into the engine oil. This caused catastrophic engine damage and complete engine failure. The water pump is internally mounted and driven by the timing chain. When it fails, coolant contaminates the oil, destroying the engine without adequate warning. There was no external leak prior to failure. This is a known issue affecting many Ford vehicles with this engine design.

I am reporting what I believe to be mileage roll back and fraud. The vehicle was bought from a private seller and upon submitting paperwork to the DMV, it was found that the mileage on the car's odometer was less than the mileage on the car's title information.

On November 2, 2021, I purchased a 2008 Ford Edge, Stock #: 12256. Upon reviewing the vehicle’s history recently, I discovered that it had been previously involved in an accident—a fact that was not disclosed to me at the time of sale. Moreover, it has become evident that the odometer was tampered with, and the mileage was misrepresented. These facts constitute material misrepresentation and odometer fraud under both state and federal law. According to the Carfax report, which was not provided to me at the time of sale, the mileage history for the vehicle is as follows: 192,195 miles recorded in 2020 164,208 miles recorded in 2021 161,269 miles recorded in 2022 163,087 miles at the time of purchase in 2021 This inconsistent and decreasing mileage history indicates that the odometer was rolled back. In addition, the emissions documentation lists testing in December, even though I took ownership of the vehicle in early November. Since the date of purchase, I have been unable to register the vehicle or obtain a passing emissions certificate. Had I been made aware of the vehicle’s true condition and mileage history, I would not have completed the purchase. The failure to disclose this information and the apparent falsification of documents constitute fraudulent misrepresentation and a violation of applicable consumer protection laws. I am requesting a full refund from this company because I don't trust that they will make me "whole" in the process.

When I accelerate, my car jerks or the shifting is not smooth anymore. Others have been quoted over $9k to fix this issue.

Had 2008 Ford Edge Limited AWD looked at while servicing for oil etc. Fuel smell noted at rear of vehicle. When looked at noticed wet fuel tank. Fuel tank is still on vehicle. (Ford wants $4400 to replace it) Independent shop JP Automotive in North Haven CT and Bob Thomas Ford in Hamden CT confirm tank is leaking. Bob Thomas Ford says not part of Ford TSB #14S22 (NHTSA #10076517) or Ford TSB #14R02 (NHTSA #10076296) A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire. Causing danger to myself, my passengers, and others on the road. No warning lamps etc. Just a fuel smell at the rear of the vehicle that started.

The component that failed was my Break Booster and I almost wasn't able to stop. I took my vehicle to my local independent service center and they said I am lucky and that the Break Booster broke and it was just hanging on by a little bit and that is the only reason I was able to stop my vehicle. No warning lamps came on that it broke or was not functioning properly. It took longer to stop and almost caused an accident. The Mechanic informed me this should never happen and to report my issue. I have not had it inspected by any authority but it was inspected by my personal mechanic at their Independent Shop.

Safety Recall [XXX] My vehicle falls into this recall yet the dealership and ford is saying it dose not. The vehicle was built at the Oakville Assembly Plant during the time of recall specs. I believe June 2007. The vehicle is in Wisconsin which also falls into the recall specs. The fuel tank has the leak in the areas spoke of in the recall, Ford is not doing anything about it. We received a case number 6 months ago and never heard back from them. This is a serious issue. The dealership gave us a estimate of almost $4000. something we can not afford. Please help. Rear driveshaft support failed while driving. A lot of smoke, noise and very bad vibration. Was traveling at a low speed(25mph). If the driveshaft had come apart, it could have easily caused damage to the body and its passengers. It also could've struck and damaged any vehicles near by. After speaking to the Ford dealer, they dais that it was a fairly common occurrence, which surprised me. Thanks for reading my complaint.

The transmission randomly gets stuck in 1st gear and won’t shift beyond that. The RPMs rev up real high and the only way to fix it is to pull off the road and turn the car off and back on. The transmission also bumps really hard shifting sometimes or revs up real high before shifting with a big thud. The dealership says they can’t diagnose it if it’s not doing it when I bring it in. They said the same thing about my alternator when it kept going out on me driving. They never could get it to mess up when they had it.

Purchased a duralast battery from AutoZone store #1299 in Hialeah in August 3rd and installed it. The staff was insistent that this battery was a direct replacement part for my lead acid battery. The car drove normally for approximately a month, and on the morning of September 6th started normally with no warning lights. After being driven less than a quarter mile, in slow-moving traffic, the car suddenly lost all power and large amounts of smoke came from under the hood accompanied by a burning smell. This happened in an intersection during 830 AM traffic on a weekday and I was unable to immediately exit the vehicle. This could have been a fatal incident for myself or potentially others. It was towed to a mechanic who started disassembling it to determine the damages. As per the mechanic, there is evidence of an electrical fire - the cables connected to the battery have melted and the alternator (which was TESTED AND INSTALLED BRAND NEW LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO) are damaged. The mechanics have also stated that the fans and cooling system have been affected, but not to what extent as they are still mid-teardown. When they attempted to put a load on the battery, it began to overheat dangerously, and they state that it is the likely culprit of the fire. I attempted to return the battery to the store I had purchased it at, where the staff were verbally abusive and insisting that it was impossible for a battery to cause an electrical fire and they'd never heard of such a thing, and

The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the brakes had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the failure recurred. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the low oil pressure warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after a week, the failure recurred, and the vehicle failed to shift into the intended gear. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that she was informed by the dealer of the NHTSA Campaign Number 14V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the front driver's side wheel hub fractured, and the wheel detached. The driver was able to veer to the side of the road, where the vehicle remained. The contact stated that the failure had previously occurred with the front driver's side wheel hub, and all four of the service wheel hub spindles had been replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 229,703.

Water pump recall class action

Fuel neck rusted out under mount bracket causing fuel to drip on hot muffler. Fire hazard could cause a fire

The contact owned a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while her son was driving at 30 MPH, another vehicle crashed into the driver's side of her vehicle; however, no air bags were deployed. The contact's son was injured but did not receive medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 172,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Due to snow, when passing a vehicle, slid off road and hit a tree head on and on the driver side, air bags did not deploy.

I believe it was March,2022 or April,2022 my check engine light came On 20’ before pulling into my driveway. I called “Protect My Car” insurance protection that I have, had my Edge towed to a repair shop and they said my antifreeze was leaking into my oil, that my water pump went out and said it was my fault as I neglected taking care of my vehicle and they have denied paying to fix it, even thought it is 100% covered. Not sure what to do as it only has 151,000 miles on it and the body is in good shape and clean inside. I had no idea the water pump went out. I’m not a mechanic and thought that’s why I was paying them for problems like this. I need help to get it fixed and never neglected it or drove it after check engine light came on.

The locked door emblem sporadically comes on and stays on. It makes my interior lights stay on. It runs my battery down. The back passenger side door was opened by a rider and the lock all doors button had been engaged. The red light was on to show doors were not locked. We were driving down the road about 70 mph when the sunroof exploded. No one in car saw any rocks or derby to cause this to happen.

We were turning a corner at a light and our tie-rod, axel, control arm, sway bar link and CV Shaft all broke at once causing our car to come to a dead stop in the road and we could not even push it out of the road, we were able to purchase the CV Shaft, Control Arm ASY, and The Sway Bar Lnk. for the one side the car is still not moveable we need a tire that we cant afford and from the looks of it the other side may do the same and the part that worries me about our safety is that is it does it on the freeway and we come to a dead stop in traffic or something it will be bad. What we need and I was told that if my car showed up on the recall list for any reason that you would fix any safety issues free of charge and my car did come up on the list. I just purchased the vehicle in november 2020 and was told all the original parts are still on it. I own a 2008 Ford edge awd limited and yesterday while getting on the interstate my vehicle made a loud clunking sound I immediately pulled over I had it towed to the house and once it was evaluated we discovered that there was a crack in the transmission housing there was no prior signs of the problem when we started the vehicle and put it in reverse it wouldn't move killed the vehicle started back and put it in reverse and it moved but I will have to change the housing if not the whole transmission
