While I was coming home from work driving up the mountain on highway 35 in Fort Payne Alabama my vehicle stopped moving and I rolled to a stop on the side of the road. I had to call a rollback and my dad so he could come pick me up. He heard the noise and knew it was the flex plate torque converter issue that Ford is having.

I am reporting a dangerous engine defect involving coolant intrusion into the combustion cylinders, specifically Cylinder 4. This is a known design flaw in the 2.0L EcoBoost engine block (referenced in Ford TSB 19-2346). My vehicle is experiencing a persistent misfire, loss of coolant without external leaks, white smoke from the exhaust, and a "waterfall" air-pocket sound in the dashboard. This defect poses a significant safety risk. The engine is prone to sudden stalling or entering "Limp Mode" while driving at highway speeds, creating a high risk of rear-end collisions. Furthermore, the internal coolant leak causes severe overheating and allows flammable fluids to enter the exhaust system, which presents a fire hazard. If the engine "hydrolocks" while in motion, it could lead to an immediate loss of power and power steering, making the vehicle impossible to control safely in traffic. Ford is aware of this defect through internal Technical Service Bulletins but has not issued a safety recall. They are currently requiring owners to pay $8,000–$10,000 for a full engine replacement once the powertrain warranty expires, despite this being a fundamental manufacturing defect.
No incident has happened yet, my complaint it that there is a safety recall that can affect the rear brake lines on my vehicle, and if the fail it could cause an accident. This vehicle is 9 years old and there still is no solution available from the manufacturer!!! This certainly doesn't seem like a timely way to address a brake related safety recall.
I was driving the vehicle and the brakes failed. The Ford dealership said that the parts were unavailable for the repair. I took to my local repair shop. There was a brake system leak and it needed an emergency repair. Ford is refusing to reimburse the repair even though their website and dealer say the part is unavailable from them.
The check engine light is on and upon diagnostics it shows there is an issue with the EVAP purge valve. This cause the vehicle to have problems starting when refueled. Cost of the repair is around $1000 due to where the valve is.

I had a recall performed last year because my car wouldn’t drive no matter what gear I shifted it into, that was the shifter cable recall. This December I was driving and the car started to roll backwards and now no matter what gear I shifted in unless it was in e brake.
Service engineer light came in and it was diagnosed as coolant intrusion. Engine failure. No accident occurred.

On February 14th while operating the vehicle I experienced a braking failure where the brake pedal went to the floor and braking distance was increased. I had the vehicle towed to Ford of Columbus in Columbus, IN on the morning of Feb. 16th where it was confirmed that the rear brake hose had blown due to the associated recall. The failure is exactly due to the recall as acknowledged by both Ford Motor Company and the dealership. Ford Corporate acknowledged (case number XXX) that the repair should not be my financial responsibility yet they continue to demand that I pay out of pocket now for an interim repair because the "official" fix is not ready. By refusing to authorize a no cost repair for a vehicle that has already failed due to their recall, Ford is denying a safety remedy and forcing me to bear the financial burden of a known defect. I do not believe it is my responsibility to pay now and then have to jump through hoops to seek a refund at a "later date" determined by Ford. This is a deceptive and bad faith practice by Ford. I have called Ford Motor Company twice and have utilized the chat once. I have not heard back from the dealership in nearly 24 hours since asking for an update on the status of the repair that I have since approved. I have a 2017 Ford Edge with the famous coolant intrusion problem that has now caused me to need a new engine and Ford won't do anything to help me. This has been a known problem due to a defect in the way the engine was made that allows coolant to enter the cylinders. Now I am out $5,000 due to needing a new engine. Ford issued a TSB for this problem but no actual recall, leaving thousands of people with costly repair bills.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH and approaching a red light, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle slowed down slightly, but the brake pedal went to the floorboard, and the vehicle continued rolling. The contact pumped the brake pedal, and the brake pedal went back to the normal position. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred when the brake was depressed again. The vehicle was coasted to a parking lot, and the contact became aware that the brake fluid reservoir was empty. Brake fluid was purchased from an Auto Parts Store and added to the brake fluid reservoir; however, the brake fluid immediately drained from the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was advised that parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 185,000.

The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal travelled to the floorboard. The vehicle jerked, made an abnormal grinding sound, and there was a delay in responding, causing the braking distance to be extended. An unknown warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the front brake hoses and the rear brake hoses needed to be replaced; however, the contact was informed that the part for the recall repair was not yet available. The contact requested a trade; however, the request was denied. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
Coolant intrusion into cylinder 2 causing misfire in cylinder 2 and subsequent P0302 error code. Coolant level drops in reservoir and engine begins to overheat unless turned off.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While the contact’s wife was driving and depressing the brake pedal, there was resistance to the brake pedal, and excessive pressure was needed on the brake pedal to slow and stop the vehicle. After arriving to the residence, the contact attempted to test the brake pedal and while depressing the brake pedal, there was a large amount of brake fluid leaking near the rear passenger’s side wheel. There were no warning lights or alarms from the OnStar App or the instrument panel. The contact spoke with a mechanic and was advised to reach out to the manufacturer and inquire about the possibility of reimbursement if the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
TSB 19-2349 Oil and Coolant leaked into engine cylinders causing the car to blow white smoke, runs rough and now the long block engine needs to be replaced.
On appx 2/1/2026, when accelerating over 50mph to enter the highway, the car started to violently shake would not accelerate any higher. This caused my daughter to be a danger on the highway at such a low speed and she nearly was hit by a semi. The check engine line turned on when this occurred and then went off when the vehicle was turned off so we continued to drive it and it happened 2 more times so we brought it to be looked at. I took it to a local shop that had just changed the oil, thinking it was related, however they ran the diagnostic code(s) and found that there is an open service bulletin at Ford for this issue. The diagnostic codes were P0301 and P0316 for misfires in the cylinders. They are aware of the issue which is causing coolant to leak into the cylinder and the only remedy is to basically replace the engine which I was quoted over $10,000 to complete. For such a new vehicle with so little miles, it doesn't make any sense that Ford does not have a recall open for this for any impacted vehicles.

Engine caused coolant to leak into the cylinders. Cracked engine block. Had to completely replace engine. Called Ford Assist and they said my car is one year too old to help with any sort of repairs. I was stranded without and car (my means to get to work) and heavily relied on other people. I had to finance the repairs on high interest loans, which caused undue stress and financial hardship.

At this point, I have been told to come in for a diagnostic check (my time off from work), but no parts and cannot fix it if the brake hose is leaking, my rear view camera is acting up at least on a weekly basis, can be at times more often then that, and they do not have the parts, also Ford is NOT making the parts at this time per warrentary employee at the dealership. ???? so consumer safety with FORD is - do not care about customer safety? i have to stop and take time for a diagnostic check, to be told yes or no if yes nothing can be done, if no let's say in a week it start to leak, again the parts are no being made at this time my recall letter is from 9/1/2025 over 5 months almost half a year and parts are not being made??? INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH. i thought customer safety was to protect from physical harm, Ford is not doing this so now , was i sold a lemon that cannot be fixed? try backing up from the driveway into the cudelsac and viewing for kids, and pets then all of a sudden camera jumps to moving lines and scares the crap out of you making you jump (while driving) please assist me understanding why part are not being made for these Ford Edges i know i am NOT the only Ford Edge on the road i see them when i am on the road. Can we PLEASE ensure not just drivers of the Ford Edge safety the to potential damage and injuries to the other vehicle or pedestrian that could be hit by these recall Ford Edges with NO repairs in site or part

Engine failure issue. Car started to rough idle, and started to lose power due to misfires. The poor performance placed myself and Family at risk of becoming a hazard to ourselves and other drivers because the car could encounter a moving situation that could not be avoided, and the loss of ability to move away from a dangerous situation. While addressing the problem it was found that there was coolant intrusion in the cylinders due to cracks developing in the poorly designed engine block. The check Engine light did signal indication of a misfire and bad ignition. I investigated the problem and discovered that Ford is aware of the issue and has issued TSB-2229, replace engine at cost to owner, due to Fords poor design.
My car is only 44,000 miles yet I got 2 engine light codes on. Presence of coolant in the engine cylinders, white exhaust smoke and a runs rough especially during the first start of the day. Engine diagnostic at Ford dealership shows that it is a coolant intrusion. Dealership states that it requires an entire engine replacement despite my car being in good condition otherwise with proper maintenance.
Recall notices sent out September 2025, no updates have been provided. I have contacted the dealer for additional support, and they just can confirm parts are not available. One of the recalls is for potential leaks from a flexible break line; seem that in six months parts would be available for something as serious as a break line; even the recall states it could lead to loss of breaking resulting in an accident.
I am reporting that my 2017 Ford Edge's rear driver-side brake line was leaking so badly today that my brakes did not function. My brake pedal went to the floor! Thankfully I was near my home and able to get to my driveway and I could pump my pedal enough to stop my vehicle! It is very concerning that Ford knew of this issue and sent the recall letter back in September but has yet to correct this extreme safety hazard for people. Now I am home, unable to get to my office for work and/or my appointments. The first ability for Ford to service my vehicle is this Friday -- so that's today, Wed, Thurs and Friday w/o being able to drive at all. I have to pay $136 to get my vehicle towed over to the Ford dealership and now I'll be paying who know what for my vehicle to get fixed. This same dealership just recently performed maintenance on my back brakes within the last few months and no one there said anything to me to indicate there was any issue with my brake lines. I have the recall notice at home for this issue, and the first they said to me when I called was that Ford had still NOT provided parts to fix this. I consider this a real emergency and I would just say again that I am thankful to God I was close to home, decided to take my dogs down to the Katy Trail close to my house for a walk and only had to drive a slow rate of speed and short distance to come back home w/ minimal traffic on the road. I normally drive a two lane black top to work for about 30 minutes and I am sure

Subject: Safety Complaint: Engine Failure and Stall Risk – 2017 Ford Edge 2.0L EcoBoost Description of Incident: I am reporting a dangerous engine defect in my 2017 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX] ) involving the 2.0L EcoBoost engine. My vehicle has experienced total engine failure due to coolant leaking into the engine cylinders. This is a known design flaw documented by Ford in TSB 19-2346, yet no safety recall has been issued for the Edge model. This defect poses a significant safety risk as it can lead to sudden engine stalling, loss of power while driving, and potential engine fires due to overheating. Impact and Financial Burden: My vehicle is currently inoperable and at a repair shop. I am facing a repair estimate of $7,000 – $10,000. Furthermore, my third-party warranty provider (CarShield) has denied the claim, specifically citing that because Ford acknowledged this as a known manufacturing defect via a TSB, they are not liable for the repair. Owners are being left stranded with dangerous, failing vehicles because Ford has not transitioned this TSB into a formal recall or Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP), despite the clear risk of engine failure at highway speeds. I bought the car when it was 1 year old. I have never had the front brake calipers off the car but 2 of the front brake caliper bracket bolts became loose and fell out. It appears that when the car was built that the bolts weren't torqued properly.
I am reporting a repeated transmission failure involving my 2017 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX] ). The vehicle has had multiple transmission replacements performed by an authorized Ford dealership (Barbara Dyson Ford). Each replacement has been faulty, and the most recent transmission is now failing again. The vehicle currently has worsening transmission issues, making it unreliable and unsafe to drive. The problem continues despite repeated repairs, indicating a pattern failure rather than a one-time defect. I rely on this vehicle to transport my child to ongoing medical and specialist appointments. Due to the repeated transmission failures, the vehicle cannot be depended on for essential transportation. I have contacted Ford Consumer Affairs but have received no resolution or follow-up. I am reporting this issue due to safety concerns and repeated unsuccessful repair attempts. The vehicle has low mileage, but the 3rd cylinder wall has a crack that is causing coolant to be leaked into the engine and therefore, the long block/engine needs to be immediately replaced. This is a major safety hazard which can cause the engine to stop at any time, even while driving on the highway, which a major safety issue and hazard. The certified mechanics say that the long block part was manufactured too thin and is causing major safety and mechanical problems and shared Ford needs to recall and replace the long block as this is a common problem and major safety issue with this vehicle as research has shown.

Check engine light started coming on for a cylinder 3 misfire at around 105,000 miles. Brought to mechanic to diagnose. Replaced ignition coils and spark plugs. The check engine light came on again with the same issue. Coolant also was running low. Brought to Ford dealership who scoped the number 3 cylinder. Dealership Confirmed that coolant was intruding into the engine and that a new engine block would be required as a remedy. This is a well known defect on Ford Ecoboost engines that they have issued recalls for in the past, albeit for smaller liter engines and not the 2.0
Over heating due to coolant leaking through the head gasket.
