When I started my car I heard a “ding” and saw that my airbag light was on. I called the local dealership to ask about it and they said that in the case of a crash that light usually indicates that there is something wrong with the sensors to the airbags and if I was to get into an accident, they wouldn’t deploy; which could cause loss of life if there is failure to deploy. My vehicle also revs and has more get up and go (when I’m not intentionally accelerating) sometimes when I’m driving which is abnormal and can cause an accident.

I found the headrest exploded on the driver side when I got in the car in the morning. Apparently, this is common as I found it on the Internet while looking for a solution. Looks like a plastic part inside the headrest broke. AHR system inadvertently activated it seems. I’m glad I wasn’t in the car and it didn’t hit my head.

While driving at highway speed, 65mph, the 2013 Town and Country shut down. The dash instruments and all internal lighting shut off, the radio shut off and the blower fan for heat shut off. I lost the ability to steer and brake (power steering went out) but managed to maneuver the vehicle to the right lane. The car would not respond to any acceleration attempt. I tried turning the key while coasting down the highway, the vehicle did not restart. I then put the vehicle into neutral and tried turning the key and it did not restart. I then turned the key to the off position and then tried to restart and it successfully started. My dash instruments illuminated, the radio and heat blower came back on and I was able to regain control of the vehicle.

The Battery died and would not recharge. I checked the van. No lights were left on; no warning notifications. I replaced the battery. I had the seat behind the driver seat stowed because I had surgery on my left foot and needed to haul my knee cart with me. I no longer needed it so I raised the seat and found it had melted/burnt in several spots on the seat back. I was mortified! My van is a 2013 but is in great shape and only has 46,937 miles on it. It was parked in my garage and could have caused a house fire killing all occupants. I contacted Chrysler. They won't assist in the repair or replacement stating it hadn't been recalled and was no longer in warranty. Insurance denied the claim due to it being a part malfunction. Please let others know that the seat heater & wiring harness are defective!! I feel Chrysler should accept the responsibility pay for the repairs due to defective parts. Had this fire continued, they would be facing a much larger lawsuit such as wrongful death, etc.

I experienced a no start situation. The vehicle would crank but not start. I did some research on the internet and found other Dodge/Chrysler vehicles with the same problem. I noticed they all had a similar, if not the same TIPM fusebox. The remedy was the same. You can put a bypass jumper wire on the fuse and the car will start. The problem is a fuel relay failure that is soldered to a circuit board inside the TIPM. There are after- market remedies. I don’t know if these remedies protect in the event of a crash, severed fuel line, and fire. Some Dodge/Chrysler models have a recall on this issue. This recall should be extended to my vehicle and many more. This is not my vehicle. I do some of the service of this vehicle.

The rear drivers side sliding door no longer functions. The issue began when the door would intermittently make a buzzing sound but would not open or close. Shortly after, the door continued the first issue but also began pulsating when it actually would open. Around the same time these issues began, the door started opening by itself while driving. Though i have not had any accidents yet, several near misses have occurred due to the confusion and stress that this generates. The opening while driving issue occurs most often when on the highway. The primary passengers in the rear are children so there is heightened risk based on their very appropriate age based reaction of panic. The door is also no longer opening electronically from the key fob nor from the front seat buttons.

I was enjoying holiday driving with family in my 2013 Chrysler Town & Country Limited when suddenly a very loud pop was heard, with a forceful strike to the back of my head being felt. Alarmed & dazed for a moment, it was observed that my driver’s side active headrest had just exploded forward striking me on the back of my head. Once off the highway and stopped, I discovered that the active headrest had actually come apart. From the damage inside the exposed headrest, this catastrophic failure seemed to be mechanical in nature with root cause thought to be STRESS FATIGUE for the plastic casement. In other words, this active headrest did not just randomly “go off” from an errant SRS command or an electronically manipulated trigger short. I observed the headrest’s metal latch pin to still be in the locked or reset position. Instead, the plastic assembly holding two (2) heavy coil springs ruptured unprovoked. When this happened, the front part of the headrest assembly rapidly propelled forward. Though the 2010-2016 Chrysler Town & Country active headrests are an integral part of the air bag or Supplemental Restraint System, THIS particular failure was NOT due to a SRS Control nor electrical malfunction. Rather, the plastic retainer struts surrounding the metal latch pin failed. Being that my head and neck were static in position with a small amount of clearance from the front face of the headrest, the propulsion of the headrest forward caused quite a sharp smack to the back of m

Today, we experienced, for the FOURTH time, a complete stall while driving. Accelerator would not work at all. Van died while driving approx 25 mph. We just had the entire fuel pump & fuel pump relay completely replaced. We have replaced both of these twice now, in less than 3 years. Same problem keeps happening. Mechanic agrees, that the core problem lies within a failure of the TIPM system. It's an electrical problem causing the fuel pump to fail while driving. This is extremely dangerous. It happened to us previously, while we were on the interstate driving approx 65 mph, and it almost caused us to crash the vehicle. Another problem to also note, is this same problem has caused the A/C unit to stop working. Blows out hot air, but will not produce cold air. A/C was completely replaced. Still not working. Mechanic says yet again, it's a failure of electrical sources due to the TIPM module. This should be an immediate recall from Chrysler, for 2013 Town N Country Minivan. Over 200 logged complaints of the exact same problem. They manufactured a broken TIPM module in these make & model vehicles. Now, my husband is stranded 200 miles from home, on the side of the road, and it's 98 degrees out. This is 4th time, weve experienced a total power failure. So it doesn't matter if you replace the fuel pump, it will still DIE. We are having this POS towed to our local mechanic, AGAIN. Its available for inspection. Problems have been confirmed by an independent servicer. Check engine re

The WIN module in the listed vehicle has failed and is being replaced. This is the same type of WIN module that was contained in a recall for 2008-2010 models and should be updated to include the models beyond 2010. The problem has been random for a couple of years, but recently we have had constant issues with the vehicle shutting off while driving, leaving no power for steering or braking. The entire vehicle shuts off randomly, including WHILE DRIVING and is dangerous for anyone who owns this model vehicle. I am surprised and disappointed that newer models (same base design) are experiencing the same issue and nothing has been done. The following websites address the issue with model years similar to mine. [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Included with this complaint is the repair estimate for my vehicle ($2057.38 for the replacement WIN module and programming). I have also included the NHTSA recall specific to this problem on 2009-2010 models, which have the same components as mine. On multiple occasions, and without warning, the car died while driving creating extremely dangerous and stressful situations. Additionally, the defective fuel pump relay caused the fuel pump to run even when the car was not running. This then caused damage to the fuel pump and required replacing both the relay and pump itself. As the Fuel Pump relay is a single unit soldered together, it could not be independently tested during normal checks. A recall was issues and executed for the same issue on Jeep and Durango models. I also see that this was brought up previously for this T&C model but was determined not to warrant a recall. A known, dangerous, costly, and preventable issue that was corrected elsewhere but not in this model. How is that possible? I've noted approximately the first time I recall the car shutting itself off while driving (this was not the only or last time it happened - nor is it the date of service when we had to pay to have the car repaired).

Started the vehicle and traveled maybe about 50 feet. Noticed loss of power steering. This was due to the engine stalling out. The vehicle would not start and there was a strong odor of fuel fumes in the vehicle cabin. Exited the vehicle and observed a large puddle of oil running downhill from the vehicle. The puddle also smelled of gasoline. I had the vehicle towed to a repair shop. The issue was determined to be a cracked oil filter housing assembly and the clip on the fuel return line had failed causing fuel to be sprayed onto the engine. The repair cost will be just over $800. It is fortunate that the engine was still cold and that the loss of oil caused the engine to shut off. If the engine had been hot enough to ignite the fuel, this could have had tragic results with a potential loss of my family's life. The oil filter housing assembly is a known issue with the Pentastar V6 3.6L engine. Chrysler so far has failed to take responsibility for this issue. I recently had to have repairs due to a faulty fuel pump relay. There appears to be related Chrysler TIPM recalls on almost every other model but the 2013 Town and Country. This issue appears to cause the vehicle to not start or allow the fuel pump to remain running after the vehicle is shut down. My Town and Country would not start and it produced strong fuel fumes. As noted, there are multiple safety issues noted with this model of vehicle that remain unresolved. It is a 2013 model but the issues are ones that have exis

We have had to replace 2 faulty flywheels (a.k.a. flexplates) in our Chrysler Town & Country. The mechanics report that the composite materials used in creating these flywheel/flexplate parts were "less structurally sound than they should have been; therefore causing premature breakdown/failure in otherwise acceptable conditions."

While driving the car stalls at speed and all electrical components stop functioning. This causes failure to the power steering, power brakes and all components that permit driving the vehicle. Has happened numerous times with no codes shown on the dash. Fuel was adequate and no apparent defects. Taken to mechanic and there are no codes to check and commonly the engine will start up after a while and appear to have no problems. This is very dangerous as the car can stall at any speed.

As I was driving down a local highway my rear liftgate spoiler broke off my van, hit the road and flew into a field or ditch. Luckily no one was close enough behind me to get hit by the debris. I tried to find the spoiler but was unable to safely find it due to the busy highway. I have not filed a claim with my insurance yet or taken it into a dealer service dept. Just before the spoiler flew off I heard some banging on my rear window but was unable to safely stop to investigate.

Reading this record

Complaint volume is well above typical for a single model year.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.

Most recent recall on file: Dec 17, 2025. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
