A software error may cause the rearview camera image to be obstructed by the infotainment home screen menu when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. An obstructed rearview camera image can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

When towing a trailer, the integrated trailer module (ITRM) may lose communication with the vehicle, possibly causing a loss of brake and turn signal lights, or a loss of brake function. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk. Trailer lights or brakes that do not function can reduce the driver’s ability to control the trailer and decrease the trailers visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. The integrated trailer module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 25, 2026. The low-pressure fuel pump may fail, which can result in an engine stall while driving.

A software error may cause the rearview camera image to delay, freeze, or not display when the vehicle is in reverse.

Risk. A frozen or missing rearview camera image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. The accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air update, free of charge. This will be a phased campaign, with the remedy becoming available in different phases based on model and model years. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on June 26, 2025. Additional letters will be mailed once the final remedy is available on each phase. Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023 F-150 and Ford SD F250, F350, F450, F550, and F600 vehicles. The steering wheel clock spring may have an insufficient weld, causing a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag.

Risk. A deactivated air bag will not deploy during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023 Super Duty F250 and F350 vehicles equipped with single rear wheels and a 10.5-inch rear axle shaft. The left rear axle shaft may have been improperly heat-treated during manufacturing and may break.

Risk. A broken rear axle shaft can result in a loss of drive power or vehicle rollaway when the vehicle is placed in park. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Risk. An inoperable instrument panel cannot show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, which may increase the risk of a crash.

The owner's manual does not include instructions for adjusting or removing certain head restraints. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."

Risk. Without instructions, the head restraints may be improperly adjusted, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Remedy. Ford will mail the Owner's Manual addendums that describe how to adjust and remove the head restraints for the center seating positions, free of charge. The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-250 SD. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked, and while inspecting under the hood, the contact became aware that there was battery fluid leaking from the top of the battery. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the battery was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the battery was replaced a second time. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed an abnormal sound coming from the steering column. The contact referenced an undisclosed Technical Service Bulletin with a similar failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer.

I bought this truck and its got 50000 miles on it and it has a clunking noise c coming from the steering shaft took it to ford to have trailer module recall fixed and had them inspect the noise and they said the whole steering shaft needs replaced and I have co workers with f250s and they have the same noise... something comes apart in steering shaft could cause a wreck and even death... dealer said its a common issue in the f250s they replace the whole shaft to fix the issue!

My Ford brake malfunction when i was applied the brake while towing a UHaul trailer. It locked up and warning light showed up on the dashboard. The trailer got away from my truck, hit the rear of my truck and went on the other side of road and hit an oncoming car

Rear passenger seatbelt came UNSECURED from the rear seat mounting bracket. Unknowingly ENDANGERED my child by becoming dislodged therefore leaving her WITHOUT any restraint mechanism in the event of a crash! The incident happened at evening after hours and NOT been reported to manufacturer, dealership, law enforcement, or any other as of present. There were no warning signs or indicators other than the safety belt just freely coming up into her hand when we parked and she unbuckled.

The contact exited the vehicle and noticed flames were emitting from under the hood and wheel well. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The police and fire department were called to the scene. The fire department extinguished the flames. The contact suspected that the fire started near the fuel pump. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The contact attempted to tow the vehicle out of the towing yard, and the towing company refused to release the vehicle to the contact. The manufacturer was notified of the fire and informed the contact that the vehicle was in their possession and was at an unknown location. The insurance company was notified about the fire. The contact stated that it was unclear if the vehicle was insured. The failure mileage was 44,000.

I was on an overpass in the left hand lane doing 40-45mpg getting ready to make a left hand turn on an expressway on ramp. I coasted for just a bit and applied the brakes gently, then a little more. The truck was not slowing down like it should have so I applied alot more brake pedal pressure and it slowed down some then it down shifted several times and the engine was roaring, I'm guessing around 3K rpms or more and pulling me forwards. I put as much pressure as I could on the brake pedal and got it down to 4-5 mph and then as it was almost at a stop, still with the motor roaring, I slammed it into park and turned the key off. The motor turned off thank goodness. I sat there for about 20 seconds or so, luckily no one was behind me, then I turned it on again and it was idling just fine. I crept through the intersection and proceeded down the on ramp at 10mph or so and pulled over. Turned it off again and called the wife and a few friends about it. It ran ok, albeit I was super cautious, to my destination 25 minutes on down the highway. Something freaked out big time in the computer. Had there been traffic or someone in front of me it would have lead to a serious crash.

My complaint is with the OEM lug nuts applied on my 2023 Ford F250. I recently tried to check the tightness on my wheels lug nuts only to find out that the lug wrench provided with the vehicle when purchased new will not fit 90 percent of the lug nuts. Dealership has rotated tires at routeen intervals since purchased new in spring 2023. Service manager stated that his mechanics routeenly use the next larger socket to loosen and reapply nuts. They are a carbon steel with chrome cap. Evertime you use the wrong size socket you further distort the chrome cap. The caps are loose and swollen so I can not change out a flat without calling and waiting for roadside assistance. My vehicle is still well within the 36 month 36 thousand mile bumper to bumper warranty. Local service manager states that Ford will not warranty faulty lug nuts. It's a safety issue when the nuts are improperly torqued or over torqued because they are using the wrong size impact socket on an impact wrench. It's a safety issue if I get a flat in an area with no cell service, or stuck on the side of the highway and get rearended. Ford and it's dealerships are aware of the failure of these two piece lugnuts and recommend that I go buy single piece lug nuts from an after market manufacturer like Dorman. This is the second time I have been gooned by Ford on lug nuts, Walmart will refuse service if the required size socket cannot be applied to the lug nuts. Back in 2014 I needed two new tires on my 2010 F150 , local

Other because it has to do with the stereo system. The BO Unleashed system. When starting the truck a loud deafening high pitched squeal is produced. My ears ring for 1 hour after this happens. Audio system will not operate at that point until the truck is turned off and restarted.

Speedometer not working correctly analog and digital do no match. Trailer brake and lighting module failure warnings displayed. Both have been looked at by Ford Dealership, twice. You don’t know what is true, you can’t rely on any warning lights as all have proven wrong. I am in the process of 3rd trip in tomorrow to leave the vehicle a few days since it has to be parked on the Ford lot and stored there in order to try to get another speedometer to install to see if it fixes the one problem.

Rear back up camera screen is blue and doesn’t function. Was told by Ford it could be a software issue but isn’t part of the current recall of 2023 F250 super duty

On September 16, 2025, while driving my 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty at approximately 65 mph with cruise control engaged, I pressed the brake pedal to disengage cruise. The cruise control did not disengage. I pressed the brake pedal harder, but the truck did not slow down and maintained speed. There was no ABS activation sound or sensation, and no skid marks were left on the roadway. I struck the rear of a tractor trailer because the vehicle failed to slow down or cancel cruise control. In addition, the airbags did not deploy during the collision. This appears to be a failure of the brake pedal input/cruise disengagement system, braking system, and potentially the airbag system. This is a severe safety defect that could result in serious injury or death.

The contact stated that the front passenger's side window had experienced the same failure. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-250 SD. The contact had experienced several electrical failures with the vehicle and the vehicle had been back to the dealer for repairs for more than 70 days. The contact stated that the instrument cluster failed to properly illuminate, and it was difficult to see the information on the instrument cluster. The contact stated that the window would stop halfway up and had to be rolled back down first and then another attempt had to be made to roll the window up for the window to operate as needed. When shifting into drive from reverse it will shift very hard into drive. This happens about 4 times a month and it is very forceful. Suspension is very ruff. Very different from other Ford trucks I driven. Rear suspension makes a noise going over bumps and dips.

As I was driving, the truck stopped running and then under the engine compartment it started on fire and fully engulfed the engine compartment in front half of the truck

I have a safety concern on my 2023 Ford 250 SuperDuty Pickup. The front passenger seatbelt indicator does not engage when a person sits in the seat. The other 4 seats (front driver & 3 back seats) in the vehicle engage as soon as a person sits in the seat showing the seat red in the on the dash until the seatbelt is engaged and then turns green with a check mark on it. When a person sits in the front passenger seat the seat does not light up on the dashboard like there is no one sitting in the seat. Once the seatbelt is clicked in, the seat then turns to green with a check mark and then if the seatbelt is unclicked the seat will turn red. I took the vehicle in to be looked at. The Ford Dealership put in a new part and it reacted the same way. They then said that they checked and the seat was working as designed and there was no issue. I asked them to confirm that the airbags would still engage. They would not confirm that. I then called Ford's Hotline with my concerns, they said based on what they could see, the airbags would still engage. I feel that all the seats should react the same way and if a person is sitting in that front seat and doesn't use the seatbelt, the vehicle doesn't recognize that a person is in the seat. And if so, possibly the airbags do not work.

Routine occurrences of prolonged idle time may result in excess wear to the engine camshaft lobes and valve tappet surfaces due to reduced lubrication. Overtime, the engine may progressively run rough due to cylinder misfire. Additionally, customers may hear engine tapping noises and the Check Engine Light may illuminate. This causes delamination of the lifters and camshaft which sends metal throughout the engine causing total engine failure and this requires a completely new engine. The engine had a life threatening malfunction. Currently, there are arrangements being made to move the truck to my insurance company's property. I'm sure my insurance company would allow and arrange a site visit to inspect the truck. It happened so fast and without warning, we were blessed that we were able to escape the truck without losing our lives or getting severely burned. Anyone who helped or passed by was put at risk due to the fire or possible explosion that could have accrued from the truck fuel tank or trailer propane bottles. The fire inspector and insurance company have conducted there preliminary inspections and are in the process of writing up their reports. There was no warning lamp, message or symptom of a engine problem or failure prior to the engine bursting into flames, but the only warning that accrued after the engine caught fire, was the engine was being shut off.

Upon starting the vehicle the engine made a rattling noise.I turned it off and restarted it and the noise continued. Turned it off again and the noise stopped. Brought it the dealer with a video/recording on my wifes phone so they could hear the noise. The truck was there over a week with the service writer saying they could not duplicate it. The truck was there a few more days before the service writer told me they received a service bulletin instructing them to up the pressure on the oil pump. They did that and told me the truck was fixed.I went out yesterday and the noise has returned, again my wife recorded the noise. Bringing it back again to the dealer. We are afraid to use this truck as we dont want to have an engine failure. This has also been to the dealer for brake squealing and the instrument cluster going totally blank, again being told it cant be duplicated. this truck has 3400 miles on it.

There hasn't been an incident per say and these might not be a safety concern. however i would like to list my grievances here just so there's documentation. my radio has some type of glitch where the phone calls get static like its digital, also the mirrors don't fold in all the time when locked with the key fob, the brakes have squeaked since day 1 and the grab handle in the tailgate just slides right out when the steps are pulled out. again i don't think this really qualifies for dangerous

The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated upon depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local Ford dealer on numerous occasions where various software updates and maintenance checks were performed on the vehicle; however, the failure persisted after each repair. Recently, the contact stated that while the vehicle was idling, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact's friend tested the vehicle by placing the vehicle into park and depressing the accelerator pedal; both the contact and the friend noticed that the vehicle would inch forward despite the vehicle being in park. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but neither offered any assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 400.

During the 1st 20 min or so of operation the truck tries to "high idle" when in gear. This forces the operator use excessive brake pressure to keep the vehicle stopped. There have been several times my leg gets tired of holding the brake pedal down so hard the truck will creep forward unintentionally. The brakes grunt due to excessive force trying to keep the truck stopped. The dealer blows it off as normal, saying the truck is doing what its supposed to. I don't think the truck should be allowed to high idle in gear. I am afraid that I am going to accidently roll forward and hit someone. I have driven other 3/4 ton trucks and the ford 7.3 engine this is the only one that does this. I called ford and they said there is nothing to do if the dealership says the truck is operating properly.

I’ve been stopped at a stop light and the vehicles starts trying to accelerate on its own. I held the brakes down as hard as a could and the vehicles would start burning rubber on the back tires. This has happened three times.

Air conditioning and heating output on drivers side and passenger side vents swings wildly independent of settings and requires continual manual adjustment or complete airflow/system shutoff. The interior of the cab either bakes or freezes on either side and requires constant operator input to manage. Very unsafe as the driver must continually monitor and adjust looking at the display screen and not the road. Essentially, the same thing as texting continually while navigating all driving situations. Am aware of other 2023 SD Tremor models with the same issue 250-450. No warning lamps no codes present and has been a constant issue since purchased new 6 months ago.

The truck slams to a complete stop with no rhyme or reason. It senses something that doesn't exist. This has happened MANY times... I-76 through Philadelphia during rush hour. Cross Bronx Expressway during rush hour. Route 30 in Magnolia NJ. Has happened in drive-throughs. Driving around town.

The first time I drove the truck was in stop-and-go traffic. I was behind a semi-truck that was slow rolling in traffic at four miles an hour with a forty-foot gap. I never felt as if the brakes should need to be applied. My new truck began slamming on the brakes for no reason, bringing me to a complete stop. This continued for several miles this was and is very dangerous the car behind me almost rear-ended me every time this happened. I have turned this option off this should be removed from vehicles until it is perfected.

Went to start truck and had a loud pop like a shotgun went off in the cab when the push to start was turned on. After that I had no sound from the stereo. First thing I noticed was no rear park aid beep when backing up and then noticed all sound was gone. Parked truck not knowing what was wrong and grabbed other truck as I was pulling away the alarm started going off and stereo was blasting static noise on full. Had to disconnect batteries to stop alarm and to get radio to turn off. So to clarify all was shut off and truck was locked and about 1 minute later alarm went off with sound blasting could not turn truck on or off nothing worked. Thank god i didn’t drive it to work would have caused a wreck.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I have a 2023 F-250 Lariat with the B&O sound system (Unleashed) with 3100 mile now. On 11/28/23 after entering the truck and hitting the start button I heard what sounded like an explosion going off inside the truck followed by non-stop noise coming through the speakers of the truck. Turning the truck off and opening the doors did nothing. Turning radio off did nothing. I proceeded to leave work and head straight to my local dealership which took approximately 15 minutes to get too and the noise in the speakers had not stopped. I left the truck running and went in to speak to someone in the service department. He came out and got in the truck and was shocked at what he was seeing/hearing. He stated that he had never heard of this before. He tried everything I did to get the noise to stop but it would not. At some point he went into the sound settings and changed it from Surround mode to Stereo mode and it stopped and the radio came on and played like normal. Told me it was possible that I had received an update and something may had gotten stuck in programming and caused a glitch. He said that hopefully it wont happen again but if it does to come see him for a further investigation into the matter. I told him that I couldnt believe that the speakers were still working after that happening. I have a dash cam in my truck that has all of this recorded except the initial explosion because of a momentary lapse of time when the truck is started. It has been a week now since this h

The steering will not center itself from a full right turn. You must use both hands spinning the steering wheel as fast as you can to keep from running out of the road or hitting parked cars. The truck will turn a circle if you do not steer frantically to get the turn straightened out. This a 2023 Ford F250 with 1300 miles on it. Ford dealer said this is normal, if so, lots of accidents ready to happen are on the road.

Recently purchased my vehicle brand new, and I noticed that the speakers cut in and out and have static. I brought my vehicle to Ford and they are replacing both roof speakers. The vehicle I have has a BO 18 speakers set up from the factory. I have a video of the issue of the music cutting in and out and every now and then the roof speakers and sides speakers let out a high-pitched noise. I noticed the issue happens whenever I listen to music and touch the infotainment system for example, if I’m listening to music and I go From GPS to Music and I tap the screen the music cuts out and that’s a high pitch noise . The static is so loud. Sometimes I have to shut the car off and pull over and shut the car off and wait for the system to shut down the issue has not been resolved, and I would like to process it as a lemon via lemon law

No warning that this vehicle is designed to cut itself off after 30 minutes of idle time. This is NOT STANDARD and no owner would ever know or expect this. Ford should have at minimal a warning placard like it does for airbags. We purposely got a 250 truck to use the idle with AC as we setup and cool down our RV. Thankfully we found out about this to avoid serious injury, living in TX climate where temps outside reach 100+ degrees. Someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed since this is NOT expected or a STANDARD feature of ANY vehicle. There needs to be at least a warning but ideally, a permanent override for the owner, or default to normal idle.

Several issues. At 1100 miles the sound system or the 12” touch screen locks up sometimes so that touch screen doesn’t work, stereo turns off, a sudden loud tone comes on from all the speakers at full volume and the volume control, screen nothing works to turn it down and you have to turn the truck off completely and wait 5-10 minutes before turning it back on and then everything works. Today, I started the truck and discovered that the heated steering wheel and heated seats were on high (When I have never even used them before) so I turned them off. I went into a store and came out 5 minutes later, restarted the truck and the heated wheel/seats had come on again by themselves. The truck will also make a warning tone occasionally while driving but nothing even shows on the screen. Its like I have electrical gremlins jumping from system to system.

Front emergency break assistance over sensitive. Have had multiple occasions where the vehicle has locked up in a turn at a busy intersection. It has locked up only while turning left 3 times in intersections and now is doing it in fast food drive through 2 times. I now have it shut off for ky safety. Since the last time I was almost t-boned. Have not been able to bring to dealer yet.

The instrument panel cluster has failed. You can not see how fast you are going, none of the dash is lit up. You are unable to determine if there are any issues going on with the vehicle. The adaptive cruise control and emergency braking system is not working properly. The battery will also not hold a charge. Our safety is at risk as we don't know what is going on with the fuctions of the truck or if it will start. Yes, ford has confirm this problem and issued a recall. The dealership has inspected the vehicle. There were no warnings of the problem before it occurred. The instrument panel and other functions of the vehicle just stopped working. We are in contact regularly with the dealership and Ford. Initially they placed us in a long term rental since the current Truck is not driveable however, they are wanting to terminate that rental and not provided us with the needed vehicle. Currently, there is not a part to fix this issue. This was a vehicle that was purchased brand new and within 6 weeks we experienced this electronic failure. We need Ford to step up and provide a Ford F250 as we purchased until this is fixed.

Instrument pan is completely out and ford has no fix for it.

MY NEW 2023 F250 SUPER DUTY HAD APPROXIMATELY 540 MILES WHEN I RECEIVED FOLLOWING MESSAGES: 1) PRE-COLLISION ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE 2) SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC 3) ABC OR ABS NOT WORKING FORD SERVICE DID A DIAGNOSIS AND ORDERED AND PUT IN STEERING CONTROL MODULE. FIXED CODES FOR ABOUT 1000 MILES AND CODES HAVE COME BACK. FORD SERVICE DIAGNOSIS ON TWO MORE SEPARATE OCCASIONS HAS NOT FOUND THE PROBLEM AND CODES STILL EXIST. FORD SERVICE WANTS TO DO HARNESS LAY OVER AND REPLACE TWO MAJOR HARNESS AND DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WILL FIX THE ISSUE. I DO NOT WANT A BRAND NEW TRUCK DISSECTED. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF BRAKES ACTIVATE AT NORMAL AND/OR HIGHWAY SPEEDS!!!!!!
