Equipment Adaptive/Mobility16V350000
Filed May 24, 20162 vehiclesNew England Wheels
Defect. New England Wheels (New England) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Ford E-250, E-350, and 2015 Ford Transit vans equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts by Ricon. The platform side plate of the affected wheelchair lifts may crack. Additionally, the lifts are equipped with folding link arms that may have pivot holes that are too big, allowing the bearings to move out of position.
Risk. If the platform side plates crack or the platform mounting fails from out-of-position bearings, the lift platform can separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle's lift door. When the vehicle's doors are opened, the platform may fall onto the lift operator, increasing their risk of injury.
Remedy. New England will notify owners, and Ricon dealers will inspect the link arms for damage or for displaced bearings. The platform will be inspected for cracks. Any damaged parts will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on June 29, 2016. Owners may contact New England customer service at 1-800-886-9247. New England's number for this recall is 16E-020.

Filed Nov 20, 2015278 vehiclesNew England Wheels
Defect. New England Wheels is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Ford E-250, and E-350 cargo vans modified to be equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts built by the Ricon Corporation. The affected lifts are equipped with folding link arms that may have pivot holes that are too big, allowing the bearings to move out of position.
Risk. If the bearings move out of position, the stowed platform may have excessive movement resulting in failure of the platform mounting. This failure could cause the wheel chair lift platform to fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, increasing the risk of injury for the lift operator.
Remedy. New England Wheels will notify owners, and Ricon dealers will inspect the link arms for damage or for displaced bearings. The platform will be inspected for cracks. Any damaged parts will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on January 5, 2016. Owners may contact New England Wheels customer service at 1-800-866-9247, or Ricon Customer Service at 1-800-322-2884. New England Wheels' number for this recall is 15E-068. Note: These vans and wheelchair lifts were subject to a similar recall in 2014. All vehicles that received that recall remedy are still affected by this recall as well.

Defect. Roush Performance Products, Inc. (Roush) is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 Ford E-150 Wagons and Cargo Vans, E-250 Cargo Vans and Extended Cargo Vans, E-350 Wagons, Extended Wagons, Cargo Vans, and Extended Vans, and E-450 Cutaway models. The rubber body mounts that are used between the body and chassis have deteriorated and crumbled to the point that there is nothing left but the bolt where a mount or bushing once was and this has happened within 100,000 or less on this vehicle when first noticed due to very harsh ride, body roll, popping and screeching noise from underneath van due to the rubber missing in places. This has been a constant problem with our f-250 Ford trucks as well and we do not drive the van or trucks off road and do not tow either and never drive in salt on roads in the winter so this is not due to road salt or muddy wet conditions of off roading as we are in the house cleaning business and never drive on anything other than paved or solid driveways on all jobs and do not work if bad weather is present. The bad mounts cause severe body roll, radiator damage due to bottom of radiator making contact with frame because rubber eventually fell apart and caused body to contact chassis cracking the radiator on bottom and the flexing due to instability cracked the side casing on radiator as well. This has been a safety issue for years and the new Ford trucks are still having this issue as we are dealing with this again on the new truck with less than 60,000 miles and this is the truck that we use to estimate jobs so it's basically a town truck and shouldn't be having failing body mounts. I believe during an accident the body could separate from chassis if this isn't corrected and it greatly affects

TL*THE DRIVER OWNS A 2010 FORD E-250. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES BUT THE PEDAL WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THE VEHICLE THEN SURGED FORWARD UNTIL IT CRASHED. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OR NOT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE.
No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Most recent recall on file: May 24, 2016. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
