Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2021, 2023 Acura TLX, 2019-2024 RDX, 2017-2020, 2022-2026 MDX, 2017-2021, 2023, 2025 Honda Ridgeline, 2017-2022 Pilot, 2019-2021 Passport, 2018-2026 Odyssey, 2019-2022 Insight, 2019-2021 HR-V, 2018-2020 Fit, 2020-2022 CR-V Hybrid, 2017-2022 CR-V, 2017-2018, 2021 Civic Type R, 2017-2021 Civic hatchback, 2016-2020 Civic coupe, 2016-2022 Civic, 2017-2022 Accord Hybrid, and 2016-2022 Accord vehicles. The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, which can cause the air bags to deploy unintentionally during a crash.

Risk. Air bags that deploy unintentionally during a crash increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 7, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are BOL, WO9, OOA, WOM, XOH, NOC, POD, BOE, UOF, POB, EOG, AOI, QO8, TOJ, DO7, and SOK. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 24V064. The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.

Risk. Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed September 6, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are KGC and KGD. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall numbers 21V-215 and 20V-314.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Acura MDX, 2015-2019 Acura TLX and 2015-2017 Honda Accord vehicles, equipped with a 3.5L V6 engine. Particulates in fuel may adhere to the internal components of the fuel pump, reducing its performance.

Risk. Reduced fuel pump performance can result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of crash.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will update the fuel injection engine control unit (FI-ECU) software and, if necessary, replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began March 25, 2019. Owners may contact customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Acura's recall number for this recall is P3W. Honda's recall number for this recall is N3X.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Honda Accord vehicles. The case for the battery sensor, part of the battery management system, may allow water to get in, potentially causing an electrical short.

Risk. An electrical short increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the sensor, free of charge. Dealers will perform an interim remedy of applying adhesive to the case to prevent water intrusion. There is an electric issue with the stereo system that causes a extremely loud static sound that comes from all speakers and does not stop until the car is turned off. The sound is still persistent while the radio system is turned off. This a major safety hazard as I can't hear emergency vehicles due to this issue. This needs to be recalled as this is happening to most Honda's in this version. If it has not happen yet it will soon. The repair fee is outrageous for something that is happening to multiple cars. This needs to be recalled ASAP!

The rear defroster was turned on while the vehicle was being driven to clear the rear window. Shortly afterward, the window shattered from the inside. The tint film on my window held the shattered glass in place and prevented it from falling out. No. However, when I took my vehicle to Ace Auto Glass in Kahului, Maui, for a window replacement, they told me that several other vehicles of the same make and model had experienced the same issue and been brought in for repairs within the past few days or weeks. This has resulted in significant expenses for the affected owners.

My backup camera has malfunctioned where it is just displaying a black screen when I put my car in reverse. It is a serious safety concern since I need the camera in order to backup properly. There is currently no recalls for the 2016 Honda Accord but it should be looked into since it is a safety risk.

I am having an issue with the ABS/VSA module for my vehicle. The ABS, VSA, Brake and EPS lights illuminate on the dashboard randomly. I took my car to a Honda service center and I was informed that the module needed to be replaced at the cost of over $3000 for the module and another $500 for the labor. I was told that this is a common issue with Honda Accord from 2013 - 2017 model years.

Was leaving for work got off to open gate and car turned off on its own. Power steering bacame hard and won’t turn on.

The vehicle is a 2016 Honda Accord Coupe. The exact failed component is UNKNOWN, but the malfunction appears to involve the vehicle’s audio system, amplifier, Active Noise Cancellation system, or a related electrical/audio component. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. When the vehicle is started, the audio system initially operates normally. After approximately one minute, a loud abnormal/distorted noise begins coming through the vehicle’s speakers. The noise continues even when the audio volume is turned all the way down to zero and also continues when the infotainment/audio system is turned off. Because the noise is not controlled by the normal audio volume or infotainment controls, I am concerned that the malfunction may be occurring elsewhere in the vehicle’s audio or electrical system. The sudden and persistent noise creates a safety concern because it occurs while I’m driving and startles and distracts me from safely operating the vehicle. The exact cause of the malfunction has not been confirmed. The problem has not yet been reproduced or diagnosed by a Honda dealer or independent service center. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INFOTAINMENT HEAD UNIT / AUDIO AMPLIFIER. While driving my 2016 Honda Accord, the vehicle's infotainment head unit and factory audio amplifier suffered a sudden, catastrophic hardware failure. Without warning or driver input, the audio system emitted an explosive, deafening static screech at maximum volume (estimated at 85–90 decibels).This unexpected, extreme noise triggered an immediate startle response, nearly causing a loss of vehicle control on a busy road. The infotainment head unit completely locked up; the power button, volume knob, and steering wheel controls were entirely unresponsive. Anything can trigger this static response such as connecting to Bluetooth using the radio using navigation system, etc. The only way to stop the deafening noise was to abruptly pull over into a hazardous roadside situation and cycle the vehicle's ignition.Furthermore, this hardware failure caused the internal components to overheat, resulting in a complete blackout of the touchscreen. This caused a total loss of federally mandated safety equipment, specifically the backup camera and the passenger-side LaneWatch blind-spot camera. The extreme, uncontrolled volume of the static screech also completely masked external ambient sounds, preventing me from hearing emergency sirens, police horns, or surrounding traffic. The Daytime Running lights are only half effective/lit. Apparently, Honda extended the warranty, but notified owners by regular mail and I did not receive it. Now, they claim the extended warranty (ten years) has run out, but I had noticed about half the LED strip was not working for about 2 or three years now. Too bad Honda chose to mail regular notices and is now using that as cover for not replacing my lights.

STEREO SPEAKERS MAKE A LOUD STATIC UNCONCONTROLLABLE SOUND EVEN WHEN THE STEREO IS OFF. THE SOUND IS DEBILITATING, YOU CANNOT HEAR ANYTHING OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE SUCH AS EMERGENCY VEHICLES. My 2016 Honda Accord Touring has an intermittent failure of multiple Honda Sensing safety systems. The vehicle displays warnings for Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist System. When this occurs, these driver-assistance and collision-avoidance features become unavailable. This is a recurring problem. In August 2023, an authorized Honda dealer diagnosed substantially similar symptoms. The technician documented DTC P2583-87, described on the repair order as “lost comm with the wave radar.” The dealer removed the bumper, tested wiring between the radar and camera, checked radar power and ground, and diagnosed a faulty millimeter-wave radar unit. The Honda dealer replaced the radar assembly with part 36802-T2A-A05 and performed radar aiming/calibration. The repair order states that normal operation was restored. I paid $1,422.08 for the repair and related charges. The problem has now returned and is intermittent. At times all systems work normally; at other times the multiple Honda Sensing warnings appear together and the safety systems become unavailable. I am concerned that a previously replaced and calibrated Honda millimeter-wave radar/safety system has experienced a recurring failure. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue and similar complaints to determine whether a safety-related defect exists.

While driving the vehicle all of the speakers started making a very loud noise and vibrating the entire car. Radio controls wouldn't stop the noise and it was very difficult to focus on driving with the sound so loud. The only way to stop the noise was to pull over and turn car off. Radio controls had no impact. This doesn't happen all the time just randomly. The noise is so loud I'm concerned it could cause a safety concern if another member of my family is driving. I have seen many reports of this being a known issue with model of my car but dealer won't do anything. The ear popping noise occurs with no warning while driving, severely distracting the driver.

A very loud static noise occurs about 5 minutes after I start driving every single day now. The radio is usually not on or either it's very low. Most of the time, this occurs when temperatures are elevated, however, it's starting to happen no matter how warm it is outside. This is very very unsafe because sometimes the sound is so loud that I cannot hear what is going on around me and/or potential issues that might occur while driving the vehicle. A loud static sound has been sporadically coming out of my 2016 Honda Accord, which startled me and my daughter while driving a couple of times while driving. For the last few months I have had an intermittent issue with my 2016 ex-l v6 accord. It started as occasional stalling at traffic lights. The car would stall out, and after about 20 seconds I could turn the car back on, and drive without issues. Sometimes the issue would repeat itself multiple times in a day, and then go weeks without another instance. Then one day I was driving the car and had another stalling event. I had the car towed to the Honda dealership and they were unable to replicate or diagnose the issue. A few weeks later, I had another stalling event. I turned the car back on, and was able to continue driving. I got on to the interstate, and then even though the car was still on, when I push the gas, nothing happened, no acceleration or increase in RPMs. When I pulled over, the car would stall out. I would wait about a minute and turn it back on, and it would be drivable. This happened about four times. Then as I was headed into the tunnel, the car shut off entirely, and I lost power braking completely. I nearly got into an accident with the vehicles in front of me inside the tunnel at highway speeds. This was Father's day, June 21, 2026. I pulled off the interstate, and had the car towed to the dealership again. The dealership was unable to find any issues. The problem happened again today (08/19/26). The OEM audio/navigation system in my 2016 Honda Accord is emitting extremely loud static from all speakers after 10 minutes of the engine on. This occurs even when the audio system is turned off. It is extremely distracting while driving as there is no way to make it stop. I had the Honda dealership look at it today, they just say it is an internal problem. The internet and YouTube is full of people with the exact same issue, from the same year range of Honda cars. There was no warning, it just started one day.

When the outside temperature rises, even with sun visor coverage, the vehicle starts making a weird screeching high pitch noise. You can unplug the car chargers turn off radio, and it still continues, very daunting and dangerous, unable to hear paramedics siren until visible. Unable to have toddler in vehicle noise is loud, Apple Watch states noise decibel too loud.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the ABS, traction control, air sensor, hand brake, and a steering wheel with an exclamation mark warning light were illuminated. The contact stated that the battery was replaced to fix the issues; however, several days later the warning lights returned. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V418000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the VIN was not included in the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 138,647.

The stereo/infotainment system starts making an extremely loud static sound which comes through the speakers. It can be ear piercing at times. Sometimes this triggers the infotainmnet system controls not to work. I have to stop the car, turn off the engine and open the door to hopefully reset the system. This can be extremely dangerous in traffic.

Vehicle experienced sudden loss of power/stalling while driving due to a failing fuel pump assembly. This mirrors the exact safety risks of NHTSA Recall 19V060000, but my 4-cylinder VIN is currently excluded. It also matches NHSTA recall# 23V-858 derailed L4 2.4L Accords but still my vin is excluded.

The speakers will suddenly blast an extremely loud static noise, even when the radio is turned off. The only way to stop it is to pull over and turn the vehicle off. Eventually, the problem became so severe that even after turning the car off and restarting it, the speakers would continue blasting the static noise. The sound is so loud that it makes it difficult to think clearly and creates a serious distraction while driving, posing a significant safety hazard.

The radio head unit produces a loud unbearable static that is very unsafe because if one needed to hear emergency responders passing by they could not. Yes it has been confirmed by multiple auto shops. No warnings, just loud unbearable static.

My Accord sputters and feels like the engine is choking at low RPM (between 1k & 2k), I started a 3-hour daily commute in the Los Angeles freeway traffic last March. Static noise comes from all speakers even when the audio is switched off. The intensity or volume of the noise is so high that the driver or passengers inside the car can't hear any sound coming from the engine or outside. How it impacts safety--it distracts the driver; both passengers and driver feel they will lose their hearing ability. It feels like ear drum will break. Yes, I took my car to a Honda dealer for inspection; they confirmed the static noise. They recommended me to replace the current infotainment system with a new one --the total cost would be around $1,500.

I am temporarily at [XXX]. The brake light on the dash will pop up in orange while driving and the steering wheel will turn from left to right at certain times while driving. I am not too close to another vehicle. The air bag indicator light flashes at times. The driver car seat will move forward when I unlock the vehicle at times. On May 19, 2026, I was on the highway driving home and without warning my dash lit up with at least 5 warning lights scaring me to death so that I swerved a bit. I stopped on the shoulder and composed myself. I drove slowly home, thankfully I was not far from home. Took the car next morning to the mechanic and was told that the high pressure fuel pump needed replacement. it cost me $1800 which I had no choice because the car was a hazard to drive anywhere. I have recently learned that there was a recall for my 2016 Honda Accord regarding the fuel pump. I never received any notice whatsoever in regards to this potentially serious road hazard otherwise I would have taken my car for service at a Honda dealership. I am reporting a fuel pump module failure that has caused several drivability and safety concerns with my vehicle. Prior to the failure, the vehicle experienced intermittent difficulty starting, extended cranking before the engine would start, and occasional hesitation during acceleration. At times, the engine would lose power unexpectedly while driving, causing reduced performance and creating a potential safety hazard in traffic. The vehicle also experienced rough idling, sputtering, and instances where the engine stalled without warning. In some situations, the vehicle failed to start altogether despite having sufficient fuel in the tank. These symptoms became progressively worse over time and are consistent with a failing fuel pump module. Due to these issues, the vehicle became unreliable for daily transportation and posed a risk of sudden loss of power while operating on public roads. I am requesting that this failure be covered under the applicable fuel pump recall and that any related repairs and expenses be reimbursed or covered accordingly.

As I’m driving screeching static noise coming from the inside of vehicle whether radio is on or off. Very disturbing. No warning lamps on car drives perfectly . Only problem is the noise which can cause an accident , gives me a migraine every time

I am writing to report a serious safety issue with the radio/head unit in my 2016 Honda Accord. The head unit intermittently fails while I am driving, producing a sudden, extremely loud static noise that continues without stopping until the car is turned off. This issue creates a hazardous driving condition because the unexpected loud static is distracting and disorienting, and it prevents me from using the car safely until I can safely stop and turn off the vehicle. This failure has occurred repeatedly, and I am concerned that it could cause an accident or prevent me from reacting appropriately to road conditions. I request that the NHTSA investigate this defect in the radio/head unit for the 2016 Honda Accord to prevent potential accidents and injuries.

While i was driving on the freeway one Sunday afternoon, the radio started making a static noise. It became very loud that i could barely hear the cars around. I tried to turn off the radio to no avail. I pulled over on the road side, turned off the vehicle and waited for a few minutes. When I started the car, the noise came back on even though the radio power was off. Since then about two months now, the same issue comes on especially when temperatures are high. Honda recommends to replace the Radio. I believe this issue should be Manufacturer's responsibility for a voluntary service campaign. It's a safety concern since you cannot control the radio once the static comes on.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving in a temperature of 90 degrees Fahrenheit, there was an abnormally loud static sound emerging from the speakers. Upon starting the vehicle, the static sound was heard and failed to stop. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the infotainment system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed her that the system was overheated due to the outside temperature. The manufacturer was contacted, opened a case, and referred to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

Stereo broke in an incredibly unsafe way, have read many similar reports online. Stereo started producing uncontrollable static, turning down volume did nothing, incredibly distracting while driving, volume definitely in excess of 100db, could not hear anything happening outside the car, could not focus easily on the road with the sudden static piercing my ears. Noise was loud enough that my ears rang afterward.

The rear camera on my Honda Accord has gone blank.There is no recall by Honda when I checked and with the camera out it is very dangerous when in reverse.I believe that water from washing the car or rainfall is causing the camera to go out as several times when I lifted the truck water would suddenly drip from the truck latch where the camera is located.Honda says I am out of warranty and it is about a 300.00 repair.

Spontaneous explosion of sunroof. Today its about 85 degree F. The car was parked for a few hours in the carport. Took it out for a short drive. Approximately 0.5 miles from my home, the sunroof exploded as I was accelerating from a full stop at a red light. It appears to have exploded 'up' (I have photographs), and the glass landed both on top of the car and inside my car. Approximately 15% of the glass separated completely (half on top of the car and half in the passenger area). I have scratches from the glass showering on me. This was completely without warning. I've maintained the outside of the car recently and there has been no damage up until this event.

While driving, the vehicle intermittently emits an extremely loud burst of static through all speakers without warning, even when the audio system is off. The noise is uncontrollable (volume does not respond), and the only way to stop it is to turn the vehicle off. This creates an enormous safety hazard due to the sudden, high-volume noise that startles, distracts, and lastly impairs hearing and situational awareness while driving (especially at highway speeds) The issue occurs intermittently and appears to worsen after the vehicle has been running for some time or upon start up when it is hot outside. Based on similar reports from other owners, this appears to be a widespread defect involving the infotainment/head unit. I love my 2016 honda accord, but I cannot afford to shell out over $1200+ to replace the head unit to fix the problem. Many people are encountering this problem and as widespread as it is, it should have a recall placed on it :(

I cannot even drive my car anymore, the speakers play non stop static noise that is so loud it scared my child and almost caused me to get into an accident having super sensitive ears. I had to pull over to wait for help. It’s not fair for any of us to have to pay over a grand for a failing head unit caused from poor manufacturing and simply the way the car was designed. Pulling the fuse is the only way to get it to stop but the second you put it back in it starts up again. After pulling the fuse you lose all safety features, back up camera, side camera, parking sensors etc. took my car to a Honda dealer and they told my id have to replace the whole head unit because they fail. It is a known and very common problem that will eventually cause an accident like it almost did me. I do not understand how theirs not a recall when multiple have had the same issue. It’s clearly not users fault.

The engine stop/start system on my 2016 Honda Accord, VIN [XXX], has stalled and shut off without warning in active Los Angeles traffic dozens of times since September 2025. The vehicle loses all power mid-drive with no warning — no dashboard lights, no warning sounds — leaving me unable to accelerate or respond to surrounding traffic. The condition has progressively worsened and now includes repeated no-start failures requiring three documented tows. The component failing is the engine stop/start system. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others hav been put at risk repeatedly. I am a [XXX]. My wife, age [XXX], has [XXX] and has been a passenger during stalling events. Sudden unexpected stalling in active Los Angeles traffic creates immediate foreseeable risk of rear-end collision and loss of vehicle control. This risk has been experienced dozens of times over six and a half months. The problem has been presented to Honda of Hollywood, a certified Honda dealer at 6511 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90038, across five separate visits. Each time the dealer concluded no problem could be found. On one visit I was charged nearly $2,000 for spark plugs and a gasket — work with zero diagnostic connection to the stalling complaint. The vehicle was returned to me in an unsafe condition after every visit. -radio head unit -major disorienting static at maximum volume of speakers possibly more that I have no control over even when turning off radio, it is constant and persists unless vehicle is completely shut off. -yes -yes -no warning lights or messages. issue is a faulty radio head unit requiring complete replacement

The card radio unit continues to have a static noise coming even with radio being turned off. I believe many have the same complaints of a default radio unit.

Going home from work, At highway traffic light intersection and car began to shake, sputter.. Engine and Oil light briefly came on before car stalled and shut off. In panic put gear into park, turned ignition button, car started and was able to put into drive and proceed. Not long after, on a main road, waiting for turn light, stalled, lost power again. Did not have any acceleration or power. Car was again shaking, luckily pulled into parking lot, put in park, shut off car and back on. When trying to accel, same thing happened as I was half way across 2 lanes, had zero accelerate power, car was shaking/sputtering, but luckily made it across. Car sat off for approximately 10 minutes. Was able to turn on and accelerate to get home without problem. This is a very scary situation to be in, especially in very heavy city traffic conditions. I have never been notified of any sort of recall. A case # has been made with Honda USA. They also let me know that although the year and model of my car WAS a part of a Fuel Pump Recall, and even though I experienced the same issues that other owners were having in which their vehicles were recalled, that my VIN # was not part of that particular batch recall. Honda dealership shop has diagnosed as a Fuel Pump. (can provide shop estimate)

On June 9, 2025, I was involved in a motor vehicle accident while driving my 2016 Honda Accord. During the crash, the seatbelt system failed in a way that caused severe force to my body rather than restraining me properly. The seatbelt detached and violently pulled my body, resulting in significant injuries. The force from the seatbelt failure ruptured my right breast implant, which required surgical replacement. I was transported by ambulance to Loyola Hospital, where CT scans and ultrasound confirmed the rupture. I have since undergone surgery and continue to experience ongoing medical issues including nerve symptoms and physical therapy. In addition, the airbags did not deploy during the collision, which raised additional concerns about the vehicle’s safety systems. Because of the unusual behavior of the restraint system during the crash, I am reporting this as a potential safety defect. After researching online, I discovered other drivers reporting seatbelt and safety-related issues with similar Honda Accord model years. Because the seatbelt system is a critical safety component designed to protect occupants during a crash, I believe this incident should be documented and reviewed for possible defects. This report is being submitted so that the issue can be investigated and documented for public safety.

While driving on the highway suddenly a loud static noise came from the speakers causing me to drift off the road. It went away immediately but appears again at random times. Yes it’s available for inspection. My safety was put at risk because if there was no shoulder or a car directly next to me, I would have been in an accident due to being startled by an extremely loud noise coming from the speakers. Yes this issue is well known, and the dealership knows about it. The dealership is charging way too much to inspect it but if you look up static noise on 2016 Honda Accord, there are countless people complaining about their safety online. No there were not any warning lights.
