This problem isn’t just the 6.2L engine. My 22 Suburban has the 5.3L and had engine failure on the freeway going 70 mph in April 2026. Loud noises and loss of power. Towed to dealership and was confirmed that it was the same issues as the 6.2L. The dealership only replaced certain components (gears, rods, camshaft etc.) Parts replaced and vehicle returned a month later but still loss of power and bad idle. New dealership in May 2026, replaced same parts, said faulty parts were used at previous dealership. Vehicle repaired and returned in June2026, a day later new code for service transmission now code thrown and parking break not working. Returned to dealership and said it was a fuel pump module? failed. No vehicle for 3 months and lots of headaches. This recall needs to be extended to the 5.3L engine as well. Needs full replacement, not just repaired. My vehicle still doesn’t run great but Chevy will not honor anymore repairs.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact received an unknown recall. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer, and while parked at the dealer, it was determined that there were metal shavings in the oil and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but a failure occurred 4,000 miles, two months later. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle lost power and then stalled. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the highway and was inspected. The vehicle was then towed to a different dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

The engine seized as we were driving 65mph on the highway on a family trip. Had no warning sings or any dashboard lights come on. The vehicle just put itself in neutral and we coasted down the road until we came to a complete stop. Had the recall done a year ago for it. The dealer confirmed now that it was a catastrophic engine failure.

Just for information purposes, I have been an ASE certified Master automotive technician for 30 years. As I was accelerating onto the highway, my transmission downshifted hard, throwing everything forward. It then went into limp mode with “ses” light on. I was able to drive it home stuck in one gear. The next morning I tried to drive the truck. It had reverse but when trying to go forward, the transmission was stuck in between gears and fighting itself. I manually shifted into low gear and it seemed to clear up the binding. I drove the truck up and down my driveway which is about a half mile long. No more “ses” light but when I went to park it, there was no movement in reverse. As I researched the problem I found the recall information on the valve body. I called several dealerships to find a service writer that had experience with these transmission issues. The truck was towed to a dealership that knew about this recall. Their technician checked for codes but there were none. It seems these trucks reset or “lose” codes when the ignition is turned off. He checked the fluid and decided that the reverse clutch must be burned up. They quoted a transmission replacement at $6500. I asked if they had driven the truck forward at all to reset any trouble codes. The truck was “unsafe” to drive due to the random harsh downshift and erratic behavior. I went there(putting myself in danger) to drive the truck to reset any trouble codes. Within a mile the truck did the same thing. It store

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, the vehicle shut off while displaying "Service Transmission Now Unable to Shift Soon" and "Engine Power is Reduced" warning messages. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was previously inspected under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, no repairs were performed. After remaining at the dealer for nearly eight weeks, the engine was replaced under warranty. A few weeks after the replacement, the same warning messages were displayed on the instrument panel upon startup. The contact attempted to drive the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 20 MPH and was towed back to the dealer. While attempting to drive the vehicle into the service bay, the technician experienced severe hesitation and engine stalling. During diagnostic testing, a large amount of metal shavings was discovered in the oil filter, and the vehicle was diagnosed with the same engine failure as before. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact refused to take possession of the vehicle due to safety concerns. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 61,000.

I am submitting a safety complaint regarding our 2022 Chevrolet Suburban equipped with the 6.2L L87 engine. The vehicle is subject to GM Product Safety Recall N252494000 / NHTSA Recall 25V-274. Our Suburban underwent GM's required recall inspection, including the Picoscope inspection. The engine passed the inspection and the engine oil type was changed in accordance with GM's recall procedure. Since passing that recall inspection, we have experienced the following issues: On XXX, at approximately 40,527 miles, while we were in [XXX], the vehicle displayed a reduced-acceleration warning and check-engine light and experienced significant acceleration problems and loss of reverse. We took the vehicle to Essenlohr Motors, a Chevrolet dealer in [XXX]. The dealer diagnosed a P0700 condition/control solenoid stuck off and repaired the transmission valve body under GM warranty. I understand this incident was diagnosed as a transmission issue, and I am including it as part of the vehicle's recent history rather than asserting that it was caused by the L87 engine defect. The dealer's repair order documents both the check-engine condition and our report of the reduced-acceleration warning. On XXX, after we had returned home to [XXX] from our trip to [XXX], the Suburban had 41,798 miles on it. We drove approximately 2 miles from home when a “Low Engine Oil–Add Oil” warning appeared. We immediately returned home and parked the vehicle. After allowing it to sit for approximately 15 minutes

Operating vehicle normally until one day I heard a rattling noise from the engine compartment. Car had limited speed and i had to pull over to check what the issue was and the car wont start. No check engine lights, no warning. Tried turning car on but only the car starter keeps rolling. Tried jumping and it doesnt start and had to have it towed to the dealership. Car is under 55,000miles and dealer diagnosis indicates there are metal particles in the new oil after replacing oil and a loose bearing. States i will need a new engine, which is on back order and GM will only cover $44/day until repair is complete. All maintenance and oil change invervals were kept up to date. Other days when I start the car, the main HUD with the speedometer does not turn on. Pitch black... I can drive but not know what my speed is. I had to disconnect battery and reconnect to clear the issue. It has happened several times.

Had the recall service done , where they change the oil weight, to the 6.2 L engine and just a few months later the engine died while driving on the highway . It just stopped running. The car is only 3.5 years old and the engine died. They took it apart and said it was a non effected part that failed but i find that crazy. No warning just complete shut down. I was luck and only going about 30 MPH on the highway due to heavy traffic. But then needed to sit on the highway for hours weighting for a tow. The kicker is the car would not go into neutral and made everything so much harder.

Operating vehicle as usual, in drive, when engine spontaneously turned off. Alerted by system to "push button to start again" and put me in neutral. Extremely dangerous while the vehicle was in motion. This is the exact same thing I read about in a 2025 recall of 2021-2024 model year Suburbans and other vehicles. Mine is a 2022 Suburban.

Found that SOS nor OnStar buttons were not working. Dealership checked telematics control module was failing. Service bulletins were issued for wide spread failures, however no recall notices were issued. The module failure will also prevent notifications in the event of a traffic crash. Estimated repair cost $900. A true safety issue that should require a recall.

The telematics control module in this vehicle failed. A dealer diagnostic scan on 03/09/2026 at 67,839 miles documented the following active and history codes: U0198 Lost Communication with Telematics Module, reported independently by the Radio, Body Control Module, and Instrument Panel Cluster Control Module; U0499 Invalid Data Received from Telematics Module, reported by the Engine Control Module; U1962 Unable to Authenticate Serial Data Message; B1A1F Ethernet Bus 4 (+) Circuit Open with a Low Voltage/High Temperature symptom; and P00FF Body Control Module Requested MIL Illumination, listed as Current. As a result, the check engine light is commanded on. All OnStar functions are inoperative, including Automatic Crash Response and Emergency SOS, which are safety systems. The OnStar button has no illumination at all. Remote functions and vehicle connectivity are dead. No warning message or notification of a module fault was ever displayed in the vehicle. The infotainment system reports “Your Software is Up-to-Date” and the Device Registration screen reports “Registered.” The last over-the-air software update this vehicle received was in August 2023

I own a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban with approximately 115,000 miles. While driving, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle suddenly entered limp mode. The transmission lost normal operation, including reverse gear, significantly limiting the vehicle’s ability to operate. The failure occurred without warning and created a potential safety concern because the vehicle could no longer respond normally to driving conditions. The vehicle was inspected by a Chevrolet dealership, where technicians diagnosed a failed transmission control valve body and confirmed the valve body required replacement. I paid to have the repair completed. After the repair, I learned that GM issued Special Coverage N242454441 for certain 2021-2022 Chevrolet Suburban vehicles equipped with the same transmission. The bulletin describes premature transmission control valve wear that can cause a service engine light, reduced engine performance, harsh shifting, and requires replacement of the transmission control valve body. My vehicle experienced the same failure and required the same repair, but my VIN was not included in the covered population. I contacted GM before authorizing the repair and requested assistance, but my request was denied because my VIN was not included in the special coverage. I am submitting this complaint because my vehicle experienced the same transmission valve body failure identified by GM despite not being included. I request that NHTSA document this failure and determine wh

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the local dealer for painting services. Upon retrieval of the vehicle, the service drive assist message was displayed. The doors failed to lock. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
