While driving, the digital driver/instrument display behind the steering wheel went completely black, but the engine continued running and the radio remained on. The vehicle was stopped, turned off and restarted and the display screen came back on. This didn't effect the drivability of the vehicle. In some of the research I've found the cause might be an instrument-cluster software problem or an "Instrument Cluster Missing Graphics Processor". The recommended remedy would be to replace the instrument cluster. There is also one instance where the dealer reportedly determined that the instrument panel control module needed to be reset versus repaired which would not permanently resolve the issue.

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. While the contact’s husband was driving 70-75 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond, but the RPMs became elevated. The driver shifted transmission into neutral(N), coasted to the side of the road, and the vehicle stalled. A message to “Start Vehicle” was displayed; however, while on the side of the road, the vehicle failed to turn off. The driver was able to shift into park(P) and had the vehicle towed to the dealer, where the transmission failed to shift out of park(P). The dealer determined that a spark plug was burned. The spark plug was replaced; however, before returning the vehicle, the new spark plug was also burned. The dealer then diagnosed the vehicle with engine failur. The dealer informed the manufacturer of the safety issue. The failure mileage was approximately 42,600.

Dear Chevrolet Customer Assistance, I am writing to formally report a serious safety incident involving my 2023 Chevrolet Suburban and to request an investigation by General Motors. My vehicle unexpectedly locked while the key fob was still inside the vehicle. Most concerning, my baby was also inside the vehicle at the time. I was unable to regain access to the Suburban, and because my baby was trapped inside, I had no reasonable option but to break a window to gain immediate access to her. This was an extremely serious and frightening situation. My primary concern is understanding how a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban equipped with a keyless entry system was able to lock while the key fob remained inside the vehicle. I am requesting that Chevrolet/General Motors: 1. Open a formal safety case regarding this incident. 2. Investigate why the vehicle locked despite the key fob being inside. 3. Have the vehicle’s keyless entry, passive locking system, key-detection components, software, and related systems inspected for a malfunction. 4. Determine whether there are any applicable recalls, technical service bulletins, software updates, or previously reported incidents involving similar circumstances. 5. Reimburse me for the cost of the broken window and related repairs, as the window had to be broken solely because immediate emergency access to my baby was necessary. I do not want this incident documented simply as a customer accidentally locking keys inside a vehicle. The key fob was ins

The vehicle experienced an initial incident of significant engine power loss while traveling at highway speeds approximately two weeks prior to the eventual complete engine failure. During that incident, the vehicle unexpectedly lost engine power while traveling at speeds exceeding 65 mph. On Thursday, September 3, 2026, a second incident occurred within approximately one-half mile of leaving my residence. The vehicle again experienced a significant loss of engine power. I had already notified the dealership of the this occurrence and had a scheduled appointment for repairs the following day. I was attempting to drive the vehicle to the dealership as planned. Shortly after leaving my neighborhood, I stopped at a nearby gas station after the vehicle displayed a "Low Oil Pressure" warning on the dashboard. I also subsequently received an email notification from OnStar identifying diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0016. The vehicle was then driven again and subsequently experienced a catastrophic and complete loss of engine power while traveling at highway speeds above 65 mph. Following this failure, the engine would not turn over or crank and the vehicle could not be restarted. The sequence of events is significant because the vehicle had previously experienced engine power loss at highway speeds, the dealership had been notified of the initial incident, and the vehicle was being driven to the dealership for its scheduled repair appointment when the second power-loss event occurre

Complete engine failure on 2023 Chevrolet Suburban 6.2L. On October 31, 2024 while on the interstate. The truck shut off twice with no warning. I was able to make it to the side of the interstate twice to restart. The truck was taken to Serpentini Chevrolet and they stated no issues were found and send the vehicle back on the road. On December 13,2024 while on a state route, speed limit 55, 12,231 miles the Suburban abruptly slowed down and violently started to shake and knock. I pulled off to the side of the state route and waited approx 2 hours for the vehicle to be towed. The vehicle was towed to Serpentini Chevrolet and they stated the engine was blown and needed replaced. The vehicle was at the dealership until February 13, 2025 when the engine was replaced. The recall was released in April 2025 at which time the vehicle was taken in for the oil change “repair”. The truck now has 20,200 miles and is lacking power and starting to shake when accelerating from 0-50mph. I will be scheduling additional service in the coming week. While going through the blown engine, GM stopped responding to emails, did not compensate for months of payments I incurred while they had the vehicle and they are still selling unsafe vehicle.

My 2023 Chevrolet Suburban equipped with the 3.0L Duramax diesel engine (LM2) has experienced a recurring engine oil leak involving the rear main seal/lower timing cover area. The vehicle has required repeated dealer repairs for substantially the same oil-leak condition, including major engine-related disassembly, but the leak has returned after repair. This is a safety concern because failure of the rear main seal or lower timing cover sealing system can result in loss of engine oil while the vehicle is being operated. A significant oil loss could potentially cause loss of oil pressure, engine damage or engine failure and resulting loss of propulsion while driving. Leaking engine oil also has the potential to contact hot engine or exhaust components, creating an additional safety concern. The problem has been inspected and confirmed by authorized GM dealerships and documented on multiple repair orders. This does not appear to be an isolated occurrence on this vehicle because substantially the same engine oil leak has required repair more than once. GM has previously issued service information, including Bulletin PIP5795, concerning rear main oil leaks on 3.0L LM2 Duramax engines where the rear main oil seal may move or become severely shifted out of position in the timing chain lower cover. I am concerned that repeated repair of this condition may not adequately address the underlying cause and that the oil leak could recur while the vehicle is being driven. I am requesting

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced excessive oil consumption. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle chugged, jerked, and lunged forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the spark plugs might need to be replaced. The contact stated that while driving and coming to a stop, the vehicle chugged, lunged forward, made an abnormal clicking sound, and almost struck another vehicle. The check engine warning light illuminated. The OnStar mobile APP displayed the messages "Engine and Transmission System - Please Schedule Service Now," "Transmission System Issue - Please Schedule Service Now," and "VVT Issue detected - Please Schedule Service Now". The contact was able to pull into a parking lot. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with engine lifter failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the transmission erroneously shifted to neutral(N), and the vehicle decelerated unexpectedly. The vehicle was pulled off the freeway and parked on the shoulder of the road, and the police were contacted and arrived at the scene and assisted with removing the small children from the vehicle. The vehicle was later towed to a nearby towing lot. The contact later received messages on the App for transmission and engine failures. The cause of the failures was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously serviced under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); even though the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 25,300.

I brought my Chevrolet Suburban High Country in to the dealer pursuant to a recall for engine issues due to a manufacturing defect in connecting rods and crankshafts that can cause catastrophic engine failure. The service center changed the oil viscosity and fill cap and stated that the change should eliminate the issue. I have had persistent engine knocking upon acceleration since then and it is getting louder and more prominent. A suspension warning intermittently flashes as well. Please advise, thank you

We purchased a 2023 Chevy Suburban in January of 2026. In May the vehicle shut off on me at a stop light. The check engine light flashed after I was able to restart it. I took it to the dealer and they said they "couldn't recreate the issue" even though there was an engine misfire code on all cylinders. They told me to come pick it up and bring it back if I had further issues. The second time this happened I had issues getting the vehicle started. This was June 2026 Once I finally got it started and was driving all the service lights started going off and the check engine light started flashing. I took it to a different chevy dealer and was told the same thing. This time I had 23 different service codes that showed up. Including the engine misfire code. So we picked it up and continued to drive it. On July 10th we were towing a 7k lb camper home when we lost all power. Thankfully we weren't driving fast and we're able to stop. This left us stranded at a busy intersection for 2 hours. The car would not go out of neutral. Had we been going 70 on an interstate we could have very seriously been hurt. The car had to be towed back to the dealership where we were told the engine locked up and needed to be replaced. My husband and I had our [XXX] child in the backseat with us. This was a family car that we purchased and told twice that they couldn't find anything wrong with it. The vehicle has been at the dealership waiting on a motor since July 11th. The sunroof drains continue to fail. I’ve had multiple occasions where the car has had drains back up or be disconnected.. This is a safety issue because it creates mold as water falls in the headliner and then the cabin. It also creates rust, particularly behind the dashboard. That’s not rust proof. Despite being under warranty, the dealers are useless and helping address the issue because it’s la design flaw. The multiple water intrusions also affect the electronics in the vehicle., potentially disabling critical features like airbags and safety systems.

The engine of this car has been under recall for multiple issues during the time we have owned it. The most recent issue that was experienced was total engine failure and electrical malfunction while driving on a busy street near train tracks. The vehicle was making a loud banging sound moments before this occurred. I wasn't even given time to get to a safe spot to investigate the issue. When it shut down, a quick message flashed across the dash board--stating ability to shift had been lost (or something to that effect)--the vehicle then flipped into neutral and immediately lost power. My safety was put at great risk due to the fact that the entire vehicle shut down moments after I crossed over a very busy railway track. The vehicle had to be towed to a nearby Chevrolet dealership where it has been confirmed there was total engine failure as well as blown main electrical fuse.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
