Filed Nov 4, 2015667 vehiclesMobility Works (wmk Inc.)

Defect. MobilityWorks (WMK Inc.) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Ford E-150, E-250, and E-350 vans modified by MobilityWorks to be equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts manufactured by Ricon Corporation. The affected lifts are equipped with folding link arms that may have pivot holes that are too big, allowing the bearings to move out of position.

Risk. If the bearings move out of position, the stowed platform may have excessive movement resulting in failure of the platform mounting. This failure could cause the wheel chair lift platform to fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, increasing the risk of injury for the lift operator.

Remedy. MobilityWorks will notify owners, and Ricon dealers will inspect the link arms for damage or for displaced bearings. The platform will be inspected for cracks. Any damaged parts will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on December 15, 2015. Owners may contact MobilityWorks customer service at 1-800-769-8267, or Ricon Customer Service at 1-800-322-2884. Note: These vehicles and wheelchair lifts were subject to a similar recall in 2014. All vehicles that received that recall remedy are still affected by this recall as well.

Filed Nov 5, 201434 vehiclesCummings Mobility Conversion & Supply

Defect. Cummings Mobility Conversion & Supply (Cummings) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Ford E-150, E-250, E-350, Chevrolet Express, 2006-2008 Dodge Sprinter, and 2009-2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and 2013 Ford Transit Connect vehicles manufactured January 1, 2006, to October 8, 2014, equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts manufactured by Ricon Corporation after January 1, 2006. The platform side plate of the affected wheelchair lifts may crack.

Risk. If the platform side plates crack, the lift platform can separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle's lift door. When the doors are opened, the platform may fall out, increasing the risk of injury to the lift operator.

Remedy. Cummings will notify owners to take buses to a Ricon dealer or service center who will install supplemental platform support bumpers. Any platform that has already started cracking will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began January 13, 2015. Owners may contact Cumming's customer service at 1-800-639-5438 or Ricon customer service at 1-800-322-2884. Cumming's number for this recall is 14E-041.

Filed Jul 10, 201436 vehiclesRoush Performance Products, Inc.

Defect. Roush Performance Products, Inc. (Roush) is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 Ford E-150 Wagons and Cargo Vans, E-250 Cargo Vans and Extended Cargo Vans, E-350 Wagons, Extended Wagons, Cargo Vans, and Extended Vans, and E-450 Cutaway models. These models were modified by Roush to be equipped with certain propane fuel system conversion kits manufactured January 2011 to August 2012 with an aluminum fuel line fitting. Due to a reaction between the different metals, the affected kits may develop a propane leak where the aluminum fuel line fitting contacts the brass supply valve housing.

Risk. A propane leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Roush will notify owners and will replace the aluminum fuel line fittings with new stainless steel fittings, free of charge. The recall began on September 1, 2014. Owners may contact Roush customer service at 1-800-597-6874.

Defect. Mobility Works is recalling certain model year 2006-2012 Ford E-150, E-250 and E-350 vehicles manufactured August 2006 through August 2012. The armored cable may be positioned such that it does not clear the wheelchair lift.

Risk. If the cable does not clear the wheel chair lift it may contact the power lug and, if it does not have a nonconductive cover, or it has an improperly installed non-conductive cover, a short circuit may occur that could result in a fire.

Remedy. Mobility Works will notify owners and Ricon will provide a supplemental cover kit and instructions, free of charge. This recall campaign is expected to begin July 15, 2013. Owners may contact Mobility Works at 1-877-275-4912 and Ricon at 1-818-267-3000.

I STARTED GETTING A CHECK FUEL INLET WARNING OCCASIONALLY AND THEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE WAS FAULTY AND WAS IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT AT THE COST OF $341. AS IT WERE MY 2010 FORD FUSION HAS THE VERY SAME PART BEING REPLACE AS PART OF A SAFETY RECALL. I NOTED THIS TO BOTH MY FORD DEALER AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT I AM STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. MY QUESTION IS WHY IT'S A SAFETY RECALL IN ONE INSTANCE BUT AN OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY IN ANOTHER.

AT ANY SPEED IT WILL SHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. SPEEDOMETER WILL FLUCTUATE BETWEEN 0-65MPH. REAR WHEELS LOCK UP, AND YOU WILL LOOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE. A COUPLE HOURS AGO, ON THE FREEWAY IT SHIRTED TO 1ST GEAR, LOCKED UP THE REAR END, AND THE CAR BEHIND ME CRASHED INTO CENTER DIVIDER TRYING TO AVOID ME. THIS LOCK UP HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES ON FREEWAY AND MANY TIMES ON STANDARD ROADWAY. I TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED A RE-FLASH OF THE COMPUTER, AND THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THAT WAS ON SATURDAY 2/18, AND IT JUST DID IT AGAIN MONDAY 2/20. I ENDED UP FACING THE WRONG WAY ON THE RAINY FREEWAY. IT IS NOW AT THE FORD DEALER AGAIN. THEY SAY IT COULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL BUT ARE NOT SURE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!!! SOMEONE WILL LOOSE THEIR LIFE!!

WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE FIRST BRAKING ACTION DOESN'T SEEM TO BE AS EFFECTIVE AS SAY THE SECOND APPLICATION AS FAR AS BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP, WHEN IN MOTION. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER WHETHER IT'S ON THE STREET OR HIGHWAY OR TURNING. MARCH OF 2016 I HAD TO MAKE A SUDDEN STOP AND DIDN'T THINK I WOULD AVOID THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. HOWEVER A SEMI TRACTOR WITH TRAILER REAR ENDED ME CAUSING ABOUT $5,000.00 DAMAGE TO THE LEFT REAR OF THE E-150. BEFORE TAKING THE VEHICLE ON VACATION I REPORTED THE BRAKING ISSUE WITH THE ANDY MOHR FORD IN PLAINFIELD IN., THEY SAID THE BRAKES NEEDED BLED WITH A MACHINE AND THAT IF THAT DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE THEY WOULD BLEED THEM MANUALLY. I DIDN'T TAKE IT BACK BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO HAVE A CLUE AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE. I PAID FOR THE MACHINE BLEED, JUST AROUND $100.00. I KNEW FROM MY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AS A MECHANIC, THAT BLEEDING THE SYSTEM WOULDN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM, AS THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS SOLID AND NOT SOFT OR MUSHY. ANYWAY, I ASKED AND RECEIVED A REFUND AND STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THEY DID REPLACE THE LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL THAT I DISCOVERED WHILE PERFORMING MAINTENANCE BEFORE TAKING A TRIP TO FLORIDA. THE LEAKING AXLE SEAL HAD NO AFFECT WITH THE VEHICLE STOPPING AS THERE WAS NO LUBRICANT DRIPPING OR SLINGING ONTO THE ROTOR OR BRAKE CALIPER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONCERNS. THEY WOULD BLEED THE BRAKES MANUALLY. *TR

I HAVE A F150 2011 3.5L ECO BOOST MOTOR THAT FAILED TO ACCELERATE AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS AT A REST STOP. I WAS NEAR CHICAGO ON INTERSTATE 80/90 I TRIED TO PULL OUT USING THE ACCELERATION RAMP TRAFFIC WAS EXTREMELY HEAVY SO NEEDED TO USE THE ECO BOOST POWER WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED TO SHUTTER AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT KEEP FLASHING ON THEN OFF. I HAD MY WIFE WITH ME AND WE HAD TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE THE MOTOR LOST POWER. I COULD NOT GET ONTO THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THE TRAFFIC. THERE WAS A LOT OF SEMI-TRUCK ON THE ROAD THAT DAY AND THIS ALMOST ENDED UP IN A COLLISION. I HAD BEEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN FOR ABOUT 1.5 HOURS BEFORE PULLING INTO THE SERVICE AREA. I CALL MY LOCAL FORD DEALER THEY SAID THEY HAVE BEEN GETTING A LOT OF REPORTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I ASK IF FORD HAS A RECALL ABOUT THIS PROBLEM THEY SAID FORD HAS NO RECALLS. I CALL FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AFTER THAT AND THEY SAID THEY WILL OPEN A CASE STUDY ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BUT AS OF NOW THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I EVEN TOLD THEM THIS WAS A HIGH LIABILITY PROBLEM AND WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE TO GET KILLED BEFORE FORD FIXES THE PROBLEM. I CAN'T BELIEVE WITH ALL THE PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING AND THIS IS A 2011 TUCK THEY CAN'T RESOLVE THE PROBLEM SENSE WE ARE GETTING READY TO GO INTO 2014.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.

Most recent recall on file: Nov 4, 2015. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
