Part 573 reports
Electrical System › Ignition › Anti-theft › Immobilizer/Proximity › Key/Sender23V093000
Filed Feb 16, 2023712,458 vehiclesNissan North America, Inc.

Defect. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Rogue and 2017-2022 Rogue Sport vehicles equipped with a jackknife style ignition key. The jackknife key may collapse into a folded position while driving.

Risk. Driver contact with a key in the collapsed position could inadvertently shut off the vehicle while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, if the vehicle shuts off while driving, the air bags may not deploy in a crash as intended, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will insert a spacer into the key slot of the jackknife key, free of charge. Interim notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed March 29, 2023. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 30, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R22C5.

Defect. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Rogue Hybrid vehicles. Contact with the Electronic Control Module (ECM) bracket may damage the engine harness, causing a blown fuse.

Risk. A blown fuse may cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will install a harness protector cover, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 16, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R21B6.

Back Over Prevention › Sensing System › Camera19V654000
Filed Sep 12, 20191,228,830 vehiclesNissan North America, Inc.

Defect. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Titan, Titan Diesel, Versa Note and Versa Sedan vehicles, as well as Infiniti Q50, Q60, QX30 and QX80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 Nissan GT-R and Taxi and Infiniti QX50, QX60, Q70, Q70L vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Nissan will notify owners in phases, having dealers update the back-up camera settings software, free of charge. The recall began November 11, 2019 and all affected VINs should be activated. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or INFINITI customer service at 1-800-662-6200.

While the vehicle was being driven on a busy city street, it suddenly lost the ability to accelerate. The vehicle displayed multiple warning messages, including “Warning Low Oil Pressure — Stop Vehicle” and a collision warning. The accelerator no longer operated the vehicle normally. After the vehicle was shut off, it would not restart. The vehicle was taken to a Nissan dealership. The dealership initially could not communicate with the vehicle’s CAN system. After approximately three days of diagnosis, the dealer determined that there was a short to ground in the vehicle’s main wiring harness. There was no accident or other known event that caused the failure. The vehicle was operating normally before the incident. I am particularly concerned because the failure occurred while the vehicle was being driven and resulted in a sudden loss of acceleration. This created a potentially dangerous loss of propulsion. I am asking NHTSA to record and review this incident as a potential safety-related defect involving premature failure of the main wiring harness and the resulting loss of vehicle propulsion and CAN communication. I do not know whether this is an isolated failure or a broader design/manufacturing problem. I am reporting it so that NHTSA can determine whether similar complaints exist involving this vehicle, wiring harness, or failure mode. Note-Main harness replacement cost was approximately $4,450. In my opinion the work was diagnosed incompletely and the fauly could have be

My car has 63k miles and I am told I need a transmission. This is a largely documented issue regarding defective cvt transmission on many many Nissan vehicles. Why is there no recall? Why do as consumers have to file a lawsuit and wait to be reimbursed. Is this not a safety issue? To be driving and have the car just stop?? Please issue a recall on these transmissions!

The Vehicle has developed this problem: the passenger-side door will not lock or unlock using either the key fob or the interior power-lock switch and has to be operated manually. Because the same failure has occurred on two consecutive model years, I am concerned this may be a recurring door-lock actuator defect rather than normal wear. I have a case number open with the Nissan Consumer Affairs. The case number is XXX. I also own a 2018 Nissan Rogue SV; the VIN number is [XXX], with the same exact problem. On XXX I was traveling with my [XXX] mother who has 2 plates to her hips from a fx. We had stopped at a rest area. I went to get her out of the front passenger side and the door would not open from outside or inside. The other doors were fine. She is not able to climb over the front console so I called the police. They were able to get her over the front seat to the back. Very upsetting for this to happen. I went online to see what the issue could be and saw there is a class action suit against Nissan on the door locks(actuator) as Nissan is refusing to do a recall. I went to my Nissan dealer to do repairs and sure enough it was the actuator. Cost of $940.95. The dealer could have cared less of what happened. This is a safety issue. What if all my locks did not open and she was stuck in the car since the temps were 96 that day.Receipt for repairs are attached. The rear hatch closes without warning, while i am leaning inside under the hatch to remove groceries. This was initially fixed by the dealer in 2024 by replacing the rear gates power struts. The problem reoccurred in 2025 and required re-calibration of the rear hatch. this month for the 3rd time the hatch had randomly started to close while I am leaning into the back area removing items. This is a dangerous problem and occurs randomly and requires one to forcefully stop the hatch from closing on the upper part of your body.

Filed May 4, 2026NY

While driving underneath an overpass immediately, followed by an intersection, as I accelerate through the stop lit intersection in the early hours of the morning, my Rogue’s forward collision, alert flashes yellow, and white, and I lose acceleration. It feels as if the car shifted to neutral and there is a grinding, which I believe is the automatic emergency, breaking system, attempting to slow the car. This is happened to me twice in the last month. The car was taken to Nissan Service where they performed a diagnostic and did not seem to be able to find any kind of error.

Forward Collision Avoidance › Automatic Emergency Braking
Filed May 1, 2026TX

I bought the car new, and the entire time I've owned this NIssan Rogue, the automatic emergency braking has a tendency to engage at 5-15 MPH when the car drives over grates or certain water drains (see attached pictures). Very startling and easy to get rear ended by other cars. It's annoying and unsafe. I told the dealership, and they claim they're aware, and their advice is to "sell the car."

The seat has been repaired at a Nissan two or three times and still the motor on the seat just stops working so it will not go forward or backward. Regarding the auto braking system, the camera or car will seem something in front of me and will auto brake, a hard brake, but there won’t be anything in front of me.

While driving on the highway, when I attempted to break the car did not stop. The warning lights came on and the vehicle hesitated but still would not stop. I then had to swerve the best I could to the right, but my car still hit the corner of the car in front. This is the third incident with the ABS, but the only one resulting in an accident. The dashboard reads system malfunction. The vehicle is currently in possession of the insurance company.

Driver side door will not open when interior level is pulled, button is depressed, or the black toggle button behind the handle will not allow the door to open at all. This is very scary!!! Car is parked position, vehicle is turned off. Door wont open even if you try to push it. Turned the car on after 5 minutes, took three tries to get the door open! Called Nissan 3/13/26 approx 9:30 am [XXX] ) to see if there was a recall or what to do as this is a safety issue. Told to take the car to the dealer. This is the second time this has happened in a month. The first time I thought it was an isolated event in FEbruary. There are two issues with my 2019 Nissan Rogue - 1. Parasitic drain - Battery dies if the car isn’t operated for 5 days. 2- Door Lock Actuator - Door Lock Actuator on the driver side door has failed and doesn’t work through the remote. A key has to be inserted in the car or manually locked for it to be locked.

While driving the automatic brake stopped the car while turning in a curve. However in another incident I was cut off and brakes did not automatically stop. The brakes works when they want too. Not reliable or safe. Separately, the steering wheel randomly squeaks while turning. It doesn't do it often, every other month or so I will hear the speaking sound.

Reading this record

Complaint volume is well above typical for a single model year.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.

Most recent recall on file: Feb 16, 2023. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
