2008 Nissan Rogue

Defect. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2008-2013 Nissan Rogue vehicles manufactured March 7, 2007, to November 26, 2013, and 2014 Nissan Rogue Select vehicles manufactured September 23, 2013, to July 2, 2014. The affected vehicles may experience an electrical short in the harness connector due to a mixture of snow/water and salt seeping through the carpet on the driver side floor near the harness connector.

Risk. An electrical short can cause a vehicle fire.

Remedy. Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the kick panel wiring harness connector and will if necessary install a new harness connector and waterproof seal, free of charge. The recall began on February 26, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

Defect. NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN VEHICLES THAT WERE EQUIPPED WITH A GARMIN NUVI MODEL 750 NAVIGATION SYSTEM. THE BATTERIES CONTAINED IN THE AFFECTED GPS UNITS CAN OVERHEAT.

Risk. OVERHEATED BATTERIES COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy. NISSAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND THE REPAIRS WILL BE PERFORMED BY GARMIN TECHNICIANS BY REPLACING THE BATTERY AND INSERTING A SPACER ON TOP OF THE BATTERY FREE OF CHARGE. Defect. NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2009 ROGUE VEHICLES. A SCREW IN THE STEERING GEAR HOUSING COVER MAY LOOSEN OVER TIME AND COULD FALL OUT. AS IT LOOSENS, THE STEERING RESPONSE OF THE VEHICLE MAY BE COMPROMISED BUT THE DRIVER WILL RETAIN STEERING CONTROL.

Risk. THE SCREW MAY EVENTUALLY COME OUT OF THE STEERING GEAR COVER. IF LARGE STEERING INPUTS ARE MADE WITH THE COVER SCREW MISSING THE PINION SHAFT MAY COME OUT OF THE STEERING GEAR RESULTING IN A COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL INSPECT WHETHER THE STEERING GEAR COVER SCREW IS LOOSE AND WILL BE RETIGHTENED TO THE PROPER SPECIFICATION. DEALERS WILL ALSO INSTALL A COVER PLATE TO PREVENT THE SCREW FROM POSSIBLY COMING OUT OF THE STEERING GEAR. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE MATERIAL IN THE NUT USED TO SECURE THE SENSOR-TRANSMITTER OF THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) MAY CORRODE AND POTENTIALLY CRACK IN AREAS WITH HEAVY CONCENTRATIONS OF ROAD SALT. IF THIS OCCURS, THE NUT MAY COME OUT OF THE SENSOR-TRANSMITTER AND THE TPMS LAMP WILL ILLUMINATE.

Risk. IF THE TPMS LAMP IS DISREGARDED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO BE DRIVEN IN THIS CONDITION, THE TIRE WILL QUICKLY LOSE AIR PRESSURE AT A CONSISTENT RATE RESULTING IN A FLAT TIRE INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

NISSAN IS RECALLING 204,361 MY 2007-2008 ALTIMA, ALTIMA HYBRID, 350Z, 350Z ROADSTER, MY 2008 ALTIMA COUPE, ROGUE, MY 2009 MURANO, AND INFINITI MY 2007-2008 G35 SEDAN, MY 2008 G37 COUPE AND EX35 PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS' OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS) CONTROL UNITS. A VARISTOR IN THE OCS CONTROL UNIT LOCATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED OUT OF SPECIFICATION. UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, THIS COULD CAUSE AN INTERRUPTION OF SIGNAL BETWEEN THE OCS AND THE AIR BAG CONTROL UNIT (ACU).

Risk. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE PASSENGER AIR BAG BEING SUPPRESSED WHICH COULD FAIL TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE PROTECTION IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL TEST THE SIGNAL BETWEEN THE OCS AND ACU SYSTEMS USING A SPECIAL TOOL TO CHECK THAT IT IS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. IF NECESSARY, THE SEAT CUSHION (CONTAINING OCS HARDWARE) WILL BE REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE MANUFACTURED TO SPECIFICATION. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 4, 2008. I have a 2008 Nissan Rogue. The air bag light came on, blinking red around 3 weeks ago. It has been red blinking continuously whenever the vehicle is on since then. I brought the car to my local auto repair shop to check it. They hooked up to it and discovered the issue. They said the code was B1018 (OCS), air bag... They gave me a recall notice that detailed the issue, and said that the dealership would repair this for free. The NHTSA #/Campaign ID# says it includes B8242 (Murano, Rogue, 350Z). I made an appointment at my local Nissan Dealership (Advantage Nissan in Bremerton, WA), and when I went in there they said there are no open recalls and I spent FIVE hours in there. They said they tested passenger side seat airbags and they do NOT work, but here are two options... one is not an option, because we didn't find a whole new seat, but we found another option- take the airbag system out of a seat and put it in yours for $884.98. That's your option. You pay. (Or a new seat would be over $5000, but we can't find one because they don't make them anymore.) I purchased this vehicle in 2019. I haven't gotten any notices about this. This is a SAFETY issue. I can not drive with a passenger in the car. The cost of this issue should be covered- it was a viable recall.

On February 6, 2025, while driving at highway speed, the lower radiator hose ruptured, causing complete coolant loss. The CVT transmission overheated, seized, and the engine was destroyed. Vehicle lost motive power at speed without warning. Repair estimate: $20,356.16. Vehicle declared total loss and sold for salvage at $400. Nissan Technical Service Bulletin NTB14-002b acknowledges this identical failure chain in 2008-2012 Rogues and prescribes a supplemental cooler kit (cost under $85) as the fix. Nissan has not included this VIN in any recall despite the identical mechanism. Loss of power at highway speed constitutes a safety-related defect under 49 U.S.C. § 30118.

A light on my car's dashboard started flashing, indicating a problem with the airbag. This started after two days of not driving.

The crash sensor detected a rollover, causing the side airbag to deploy. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and filed a case, and informed the contact that a response would be provided later. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Air bag light flashing and tire pressure light stays on

AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE RPM WILL SKYROCKET AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD. WE HAVE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW HOURS BEFORE IT DRIVES NORMALLY AGAIN. LATELY THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BUCKING WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE.

3rd attempt to Nissan . I have a 2008 Nissan rogue with recalls that have not been repaired. Plate is [XXX]. This has caused the recall issue of the transmission to fail. The car runs but is not safe. Unknown, ohio car, the sub frame is rusted through, can't even weld a plate to fix

My car has started leaking water onto the driver's side floorboard. I thought it might be from the sunroof and cleaned out the channels on both sides of the car. There was a recall years ago about a harness causing a problem with leaking water and possibly causing electrical problems. I took the car in for the repair. They told me that they fixed the problem. My car has started leaking again as it rains. The leak is getting worse and I need some advice. I am retired and have very limited funds. Horn on car this is second time it stopped working along with drivers seat won't adjust front and backwards and third time dealing with ball joints on both sides several dates 07/06/2020,12/03/2019,and now today 05/18/2023

Problem 1: I always put my purse on the passenger seat, and the air bag deactivation light turns on on the dashboard. One day, I took the purse off yet the light did not turn off. Ever since then the airbag light has been on. The car has been fixed by Nissan since then for another recall, but the airbag was not fixed as they said it was not a recall. When I took it to Nissan to access having them fix the issue last year, they said I would have to pay about $600 out of pocket. The year it occurred was 2014, and the car has not been driven much since then. Problem 2: The left rear door's handle simply broke off in my hand last year. When I took the car to Nissan to see if they stand behind their handles staying on cars, and would replace it, but they gave me an estimate upwardsnof $600 to repair it. Problem 3: The gas guage does not read properly, as I found put when it ran out of gas yet the car was reading a half full tank. Repair estimate for this issue was about $600. Problem 4: The tires always read as flat, even when taken to get filled by a professional. Nissan's estimate to fix this issue was approximately $600. I was informed by Nissan of the Avenues (Jacksonville, Florida) that there are recalls for EVERY SINGLE ONE of those issues for the 2008 Nissan Rogue, but just not for MY specific vehicle.

After driving roughly two hours on highway in stop and go rush hour traffic, our 2008 Nissan Rogue lost its ability to accelerate and the RPM would go only slightly above 2000. There were no dashboard warning lights. We pulled over at a rest stop and turned off the engine for ten minutes but the problem persisted. We had to get off the freeway and take back roads out of concern for our safety. We reached our destination, the then car sat for several hours and behaved normally for about an hour on the way back, but then the problem recurred. We only drove short distances for the next month, but on our next long drive the same thing happened again. Our mechanic found no engine codes and does not know what is causing the problem. This all happened only about 3000 miles after we had a new OEM transmission installed. For over two months, we have been unable to take any long trips with this car out of concern for both our ability to complete the trip and for our safety as well as the safety of others.

While driving to work passenger airbag light came on and wouldn't shut off, regardless of whether or not a person was sitting there, in addition the airbag warning light on the dash also came on. I took the car to an independent mechanic who told me it was an OCS issue (Code B1018). After a little research I found a recall for this issue on my model car (NHTSA Ref# 08V521000) but my VIN is excluded. Contacted a local dealer and was told it would likely be $2,500 for a new seat cushion. This severely affects any passengers safety in my vehicle and should be addressed by Nissan.
