Parked my vehicle, opened the back hatch to check for shopping bags, closed the back hatch using the automatic button. While in the store, I was called to the front. A worker reported that my window in my hatch just "popped." He could hear the glass break and when I arrived it was still making a crackling noise. Camera footage reviewed, no one was near my car to have broken it.

Multiple times the seat belt on driver side gets stuck making it a safety hazard, could happen to other seat belts but it is unsafe to have a passenger. The belt gets stuck in the webbing/anchor. I have been stranded in a parking lot multiple times till I figure out how to unstuck it in the webbing/anchor. This puts me in a safety hazard if I am in an unsafe parking lot. And what would happen in a car accident if the anchor/webbing blocks the seatbelt from protecting me? I have disabilities and chronic pain, I cannot imagine another car accident that would further my disabilities.

My daughter suffered a catastrophic failure of the drivetrain in her 2023 Nissan Rogue while leaving Knoxville, Tennessee, on [XXX]. I had the car towed to Ted Russell Nissan, 8565 Kingston Pike, 37919. After a few days, they informed us that it would be repaired under warranty and provided us with a new Nissan Rogue (vin#[XXX]) as a loaner/rental free of charge until the repairs were completed. Five days later, she placed her three year old son in his car seat in the back passenger side of the Rogue, in the driveway of her home in Johnson City, TN. When she walked around to the driver’s door, the car locked itself, locking the key fob, her phone, and her son in the car on a hot sunny day. She used a tablet to call her mother who called 911. The police were dispatched and extracted the child by breaking into the driver’s door. The lock system clearly failed, as it is not supposed to be possible to lock the key fob in the vehicle. Clearly, the child’s life was threatened by this failure. I contacted the dealer and relayed this information to them. Their only response was ‘is there any damage to the vehicle’. When I returned the vehicle on September 12, they had no questions about the incident and made no indication that they intended to investigate or repair this problem. There were no warnings or indications that the lock system was failing. The dealer made no effort to contact my daughter, the police, or other witnesses to the incident. I picked up my adult daughter from the LAX on August 5th at 9:00am. I was in the driver’s seat and pushed the button to open the liftgate, so she could load her luggage. As she was loading her luggage, the power liftgate closed on her - unprompted. It hit her in the back of the head. (across the back, near the base of her skull) She yelled at me for "closing the trunk on her head" but I did not hit any button. She had a really bad headache for an hour or so, but later that evening and the next day, she developed severe back of the head and neck pain. We took her to a emergency clinic the next morning on 8/6/26 and the physician gave her medicine (injection and prescription) for severe acute headache and cervical paraspinal muscle spasm. He told her to follow up with neurology bc she may have trigemenal neuralgia. We did not put the pieces together (that the liftgate was the source of her pain) until later... after the liftgate knocked me unconscious on 9/1 and I now have a traumatic brain injury and neck injury.

The power liftgate has closed a couple of times without being prompted. (no one has pushed the button inside the car, or on the door. No one is kicking under the car. No one is pushing the button on the key fob) After injuring 2 of my family members, we are now very cautious when using the liftgate. One person must be standing under the liftgate to make sure it doesn't close umprompted and hurt anyone. (I have notified Nissan and the NHTSA about the 2 incidents with injuries, both required medical care). So she was not injured. but we are all scared of this car... but it is our only source of transportation. And her cosmetology case is massive and will only fit in the trunk. On 9/30/2026, I was dropping my daughter off at cosmetology school and she was retreiving her cosmetology case from the trunk when the liftgate started closing on her - unprompted. I HAVE THIS ON CELL PHONE VIDEO. (Just like I have dash cam of the incident when I was knocked unconscious by the liftgate and now have a traumatic brain injury and neck injury). Luckily- we were paying very close attention and we pushed the liftgate back up after it started closing on my daughter.

The power liftgate in my 2026 Nissan Rogue Platinum continues to close unprompted. There have been 2 injuries (one minor and one significant). And 2 near misses. This is the 2nd near miss. On 9/15/2026, around 2pm (timestamp - according to dash cam footage) my daughter was loading a small wagon and tote in the back of the car. We were transporting belongings to her father who is in a long term care facility with dementia. After the previous injuries from the liftgate, we now ensure 2 people are at the back of the car so one can intervene if the liftgate starts to close. She had loaded the late tote when the liftgate started closing umprompted. I was able to stop it from hitting her becuase I was standing guard. I have filed complaints with Nissan and the NHTSA for the incidents. We have no other means of transportation or we would not use this car.

On 9/15/2026 (9:30am), I used the Nissan app to unlock my car to get my sunglasses. The car unlocked fine. I retrieved the sunglasses and tried to use the app to lock the doors but the app said the doors could not lock bc the car thought the trunk was open. (it was not) It did finally lock the doors, but kept giving me a message that the trunk was open. The trunk was not open. I have cell phone video of this. On October 1, 2026, the seat belt reminder did not go off (which is the first time it hasn't. it always goes off). I have cell phone video of this. On October 2, 2026, I used the pre-start engine option via the app to cool off the car. Even after I had started the car with the key fob and was driving down the road, the pre-start was still giving me a count down that the engine would turn off... even though we were driving down the road. I have cell phone video of this. Basically - after the liftgate has closed without warning several times (resulting in one significant injury, one minor injury and 2 near misses), I now keep my iphone recording almost the entire time I'm in the car and when we are load and unloading things.

I have a 2026 Nissan Rogue. The back window spontaneously "popped" and shattered. I understand there is an issue with 2025 Rogue doing this. I purchased mine in October of 2025. I was in the drivers seat and had pushed the rear hatch button to open it. It went up approximately 1/2 way and there was a loud "pop", to the point my neighbors came out to see what happened. I called my dealership and they had me bring it in. They informed me there was no recall for the glass and could not cover it under warranty because they had no "proof" it was spontaneous. I paid 100% to have my window replaced by Safelite at a cost of $374.00.

While driving at highway speeds, the panoramic sunroof glass spontaneously exploded without any prior warning, impact, or rock strikes. The sudden, loud explosion caused severe driver distraction and panic, creating an immediate safety hazard on the highway. Additionally, shattered glass fragments fell onto the interior sunshade, posing a significant risk of lacerations to the occupants. The vehicle was immediately taken to an authorized Nissan dealership, where service technicians inspected the roof and found no evidence of external impact. A warranty case was opened with Nissan Corporate. The vehicle is currently sitting at my local Nissan dealership and is fully available for inspection. The dealer has taken photos (again) and submitted them to the manufacturer. However, the vehicle has been sitting for weeks without a repair timeline, and the dealer is refusing to provide a warranty loaner vehicle while waiting for Nissan Corporate to approve the claim. There were no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms before this sudden structural failure.

Three days before the accident, I experienced an unusual issue with the vehicle. When I pressed the brake pedal to start the vehicle, I heard an unusual sound that I had not normally heard when starting the car. It was heard from the outside of my car and as well as I felt it on brakes as I pressed it. My neighbor was present and advised me to turn the vehicle off and restart it. After I turned the vehicle off and restarted it, the sound was no longer present. Three days later, while driving the vehicle, I attempted to apply the brakes to slow/stop, but the vehicle did not respond as expected. I pressed the brake pedal in an attempt to stop the vehicle but was unable to stop, resulting in a collision. Because of the unusual sound that occurred while pressing the brake pedal three days earlier and the subsequent loss of braking ability during the accident, I am concerned that there may have been a malfunction involving the vehicle's braking system or a related component. The accident was reported to law enforcement, and the vehicle sustained significant damage. My insurance company subsequently determined that the vehicle was a total loss. I am submitting this complaint so that the incident and the earlier warning sign can be documented and reviewed by NHTSA as a potential vehicle safety issue.

I am reporting a serious safety incident involving the powered rear liftgate of my 2026 Nissan Rogue Platinum. On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at approximately 9 AM, I was helping my daughter unload her cosmetology case at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. The rear liftgate was open. We were both standing behind the vehicle, facing away from it toward her cosmetology case (which had become unlatched so we were fixing it). No one pressed a button on the liftgate, the key fob, or inside the vehicle to initiate closure. Neither of us intentionally activated the hands-free liftgate sensor. The liftgate began closing and struck the back of my head. It did not reverse upon contacting me and continued pushing downward. My daughter intervened to raise the liftgate by hitting the button. (Audio of incident is preserved on dash cam) An ER visit revealed healed injury with occipital hematoma. I experienced a concussion and neck injury from the lift gate. Followed up with neurology - I was Dx with post concussion syndrome and post concussive headaches. And whiplash. I continue to have headaches, light sensitivity, brain fog and very bad neck pain. Please investigate this. *written with help of chat bc my head hurts and I’m foggy. But my daughter and I both read over this report and it’s correct.

The short inserts in the front grille of my 2026 Nissan Rogue SV have noticeable free movement at their attachment points. All short inserts can move forward/backward, laterally, and angularly. The longer grille inserts do not exhibit the same condition. I reported this condition to authorized Nissan dealers because of concern about the long-term integrity and retention of these components when subjected to aerodynamic loads and high-frequency vibration during normal vehicle operation. The condition was reproduced and documented by authorized Nissan dealers. At Nissan's direction, a dealer recorded the movement and submitted it for warranty review. Nissan subsequently authorized replacement of the complete front grille under the new-vehicle warranty. The grille was replaced, but the replacement immediately exhibited essentially the same movement. I continued reporting the condition to Nissan Consumer Affairs. Nissan later arranged an evaluation involving regional/technical personnel and subsequently informed me that the movement was a “characteristic of the vehicle” and that no further corrective action would be taken. I have personally inspected other comparable 2026 Nissan Rogue vehicles and found that some do not exhibit this movement in the short grille inserts. Nissan has not provided an engineering specification, tolerance, or measurement establishing acceptable movement. My safety concern is the long-term integrity and retention of the short inserts and their attachmen

This vehicle is equipped with the KR15DDT engine, which is the subject of NHTSA recall 26V081/26V080 for electronic throttle body gear fracture. The reported failure mode—low‑speed unintended acceleration and loss of braking—matches my experience exactly. My car was sitting in a parking lot facing the south. It was over 100 degrees that day. I had a front window shade in the front window, and both front windows were down about 2 inches. I went to my car to grab something around 1:30pm and all was fine. When I cam back around 2:45 pm, the back window was shattered, with small pieces of glass laying on the ground. I called the local Nissan dealer, and they told me to bring it in so they could look at it. I taped it up and drove it to the dealer. They looked it over and could see that the glass had blown out. The mechanic that looked it over, said that based on the glass pressing out and not inward (rock or something hitting it, makes the glass press inward). The dealership put in a warranty claim on Friday and finally found out it was approved on Tuesday. The mechanic ordered the glass to be shipped overnight on Friday. 10 days later I hadn't heard anything from them, so I called them, and they didnt have the glass yet, and didnt know why. So they called Nissan to figure why, and were told, they have the glass on hand, but not enough to ship any out yet. So its been 12 days and I still cant drive my car.

The vehicle was completely stationary at a red light when the rear windshield suddenly and spontaneously exploded with a loud gunshot-like sound. There was no road debris, no preceding or surrounding vehicles, and absolutely no external impact. The Nissan dealership wrongfully refused to cover this under the new vehicle limited warranty, claiming it was external damage, despite the lack of any impact point. Due to safety urgency, I had to replace the glass through a third-party shop via my auto insurance. This is a severe product quality and safety defect regarding the rear defroster and tempered glass, which is already subject to federal class-action lawsuits for Nissan Rogues. The glass shards could have caused severe injuries.

On June 19, 2026, while driving my 2026 Nissan Rogue SV at approximately highway speed, my vehicle suddenly lost power without warning. This created a serious safety hazard because I was traveling with surrounding traffic and unexpectedly lost the ability to accelerate normally. I was able to safely pull the vehicle to the side of the road, and it had to be towed to Nissan of White Plains. The dealership diagnosed the vehicle with a catastrophic engine failure and informed me that the engine requires complete replacement. At the time of the failure, the vehicle had approximately 7,000 miles and was nearly new. Prior to the incident, I did not experience any warning signs that would have indicated an imminent engine failure. The engine failure has been confirmed by the authorized Nissan dealership, and the vehicle has remained out of service since June 19, 2026, while awaiting repairs. Nissan has provided a loaner vehicle, but my new vehicle has been unavailable for approximately 30 days. I am submitting this complaint because a sudden loss of engine power on a highway presents a significant safety risk to the driver, passengers, and surrounding motorists. I believe this failure warrants investigation to determine whether other vehicles may be affected.

Vehicle Information • Make/Model: Nissan Rogue (2026) - purchased as a lease in August 2025 • Mileage: 7,810 • VIN: [XXX] • Date of incident: 4/20/26 • Location: Highway travel (Pennsylvania) Engine stall / sudden loss of power while driving While driving my brand new 2026 Nissan Rogue at approximately 75 mph on a highway, the vehicle suddenly and completely stalled without warning. The engine lost all power while the vehicle was in motion, resulting in an immediate and dangerous reduction in speed. There were no prior signs of malfunction before the stall. The vehicle became unable to maintain highway speed and effectively lost propulsion while in active traffic conditions. This created a serious safety hazard, as the sudden loss of power at highway speed placed me and surrounding vehicles at risk of a collision. I had to maneuver the vehicle to safety while attempting to avoid traffic. The vehicle is brand new and should not experience a complete engine stall under normal highway driving conditions. This incident raises a significant concern regarding a potential defect in engine performance, fuel delivery, transmission control, or electronic power management systems. Because the failure occurred at highway speed without warning, it represents a critical safety risk that may affect other drivers if it is a systemic issue. Actions Taken After Incident • Vehicle was brought to dealership / service center • Case opened with manufacturer (Nissan) • The vehicle was towed and cur

The vehicle reads the speed limit signs improperly and the adaptive cruise control will speed up the vehicle to the improper speed limit. For instance it is 45 mph on SR 70 in TN and the vehicle will read the speed limit as 70 mph and take off up to 70 mph on it's own. Very dangerous. Took it to 2 dealers and they are unable to fix the problem.

I am reporting a recurring safety issue with the vehicle’s auto engine stop/start system. When the vehicle comes to a stop, the engine sometimes shuts off normally (other time only the auto-brakes engage, but engine stays on), but then the system behaves unpredictably. The engine attempts to restart with a violent jolt, causing the entire vehicle to shake. This occurs even when I am fully stopped with my foot on the brake. It feels like the vehicle is trying to lurch forward or restart against resistance. The issue is repeatable, happens in normal driving conditions, and creates a safety concern because the sudden jolt can startle the driver, cause unintended movement, or lead to loss of control in traffic. I believe this may indicate a defect in the auto‑engine‑stop system, engine mounts, starter system, or related control modules. Please investigate, as other owners may be experiencing the same unsafe behavior.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The transmission malfunctioned when I shifted from reverse to drive. It took extra effort to put it into drive from reverse, and when it finally shifted/clunked into place it made a loud sound, literally jerking the car. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not, yet. I have an appt at 7:30 a.m. on 3/24 with Pinnacle Nissan repair, but they are not aware of this issue yet. I will add it this morning, 3/23/2026. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle is exhibiting abnormal engine noise consistent with Recall 26V080 (Engine Bearings). There is a high pitched/white noise sound that consistently increases as the car's speed increases. I have turned off the speaker sound item, and all electronics and it is still there. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The abnormal noise indicates an imminent engine bearing service (Recall 26V080), which causes a total loss of motive power and fire risk. This makes the vehicle unpredictable and unsafe to operate in traffic, especially given the documented hesitation during restarts." Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, I have an appt. on 3/24/2026 at 7:30 a.m. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No

The software for the ProSystem is flawed. When using the "lane keeping" part of the software, the vehicle, during a curve, will go to the left or right solid or dotted line, as appropriate, and exceed that limit by at least 2 feet, then sharply turn and go to the opposite solid or dotted line and exceed that limit by at least 2 feet. The vehicle will then oscillate between the two line for up to one minute with the oscillations decreasing all the while. When driving in a straight line with either solid or dotted lines delineating the lane, the steering wheel will continues to oscillate to a minor degree. I have turned the system off and do not use it. I have returned the vehicle to the dealer, Round Rock Nissan, Georgetown, TX for repair and was told the system is working correctly and do modifications are necessary. Opinion: In my opinion, the software for the ProSystem is flawed causing the vehicle to be unsafe. The software need to be recalled, rewritten, real world tested extensively and reinstalled in all vehicles equipped with this software. This should be done immediately. I am aware of at least two other vehicles with the same issue. I was driving at night at highway speed, and I turned down the brightness of the screen using the dimmer controls on the lower left side of the dash assembly. After several presses of the button from full illumination to approximately 40%, the entire instrument panel went blank, and a loud alert sounded. I lost all instrumentation for a few seconds, and then the screen rebooted. After it rebooted back at full brightness, I tried reducing it again, and the instrument panel rebooted for a second time while on the highway.
Complaints 1-50 of 54, newest first, reproduced as filed.
No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
