2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, 2021 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with diesel engines. The transmission control valve may fail and cause the rear wheels to lock-up.

Risk. Rear wheel lock-up can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will install new transmission control module software, free of charge. GM will provide a special coverage program to cover the repair of transmissions that are identified by the remedy software as containing a defective control valve. Owner notification letters were mailed December 12, 2024. Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in park.

Risk. An unlatched tailgate may open while driving and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Owners are advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving. Dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 17, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, GMC Sierra 2500, and Sierra 3500 vehicles with electronic brake control modules (EBCM) replaced during vehicle assembly. The bolts that attach the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) assembly may not be properly tightened, which could fail to seal the two sub-assemblies and allow water intrusion.

Risk. Water in the BPMV may cause an electrical short circuit and increase the risk of fire.

Remedy. Owners are advised to park outside and away from other structures until the recall repair is completed. Dealers will replace the BPMV assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 20, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Chevrolet had a tail gate recall on the Silverado vehicles due to the rear tailgate opening on its own while driving down the road. I had this recall completed by my local Chevrolet dealer and the problem got progressively worse. This causes physical damage and safety concerns if the truck bed is loaded and the consumer is pulling a trailer. General motors has been contacted with no resolution and the dealership has as well. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms have been noticed. The tailgate has released on its own before and after the recall was complete. However, It has happened much more frequently after the recall was complete.

The vehicle will not allow the truck to be turned off everytime, it states the truck must be in park to be turned off, and the truck is in park. The engine lost power and staleld twice, and loses accelerator power multiple times. The transmission has dis-engaged 3 times. All of this since July 2026. The truck has 54,000 miles on it.

The motor blew——It is confirmed by a Chevrolet Dealership and they are now getting a reman engine as a replacement—There was a loud noise then it went dead—-Was able to start it and there was this gawd awful noise coming from the motor—Had it towed to the dealership where we were just told it was a motor failure

My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD does not bear the certification label required by 49 CFR Part 567. I bought it used from a franchised Chevrolet dealer in April 2024 and am the current owner. The date reported is the date I examined the vehicle and confirmed the label was absent. This is not an incident, and I do not know when or how the label came to be missing. I checked the driver-side hinge pillar, door-latch post, door edge, and surrounding areas. The only labels present are: a GM trailering label (10,000 lb GVWR, 26,000 lb GCWR, 6,390 lb rear GAWR, no front GAWR, no FMVSS conformance statement); a Tire and Loading Information placard (states seating capacity, a 2,111 lb occupant-and-cargo limit, and tire sizes, but no GVWR and no GAWR); and a cellular module sticker with no weight information. Nothing on the vehicle states the manufacturer, the month and year of manufacture, the GVWR with front and rear GAWR, and the FMVSS conformance statement. A 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD I photographed for comparison bears all of it. On the panel below the trailering label there is a rectangular area, distinguishable from the surrounding paint, with adhesive residue visible and palpable. I report this without characterizing it. I own a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD equipped with the 6.6L Duramax diesel engine and Allison-branded 10 speed (10L1000) automatic transmission. VIN: [XXX]. While pulling away from a traffic light and accelerating to approximately 20 to 30 mph, the transmission suddenly began shifting harshly and erratically, experienced delayed engagement, unexpectedly downshifted, and would not shift into overdrive. At the same time, the check engine light illuminated and a Reduced Engine Power warning appeared. There were no warning lights, messages, or transmission symptoms prior to this incident. I pulled into a parking lot for approximately one hour, but when I resumed driving, the same failure occurred again. The transmission malfunction created a safety concern because the vehicle unexpectedly lost normal shifting and power while operating in traffic, making it difficult to accelerate and maintain speed safely. I contacted OnStar, which reported both an engine and transmission fault. I then drove the vehicle to my independent diesel mechanic, who diagnosed a failure of the transmission control valve body caused by an internal solenoid that is not serviceable separately, requiring replacement of the complete transmission control valve body assembly. The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. While driving at an undisclosed speed with a camper trailer attached, the integrated trailer brake controller failed to operate correctly, causing the camper to experience severe braking failures and the vehicle failed to slow down properly. The contact stated that the integrated trailer brake controller was unable to process the electrical current between the camper battery and the vehicle battery because of the different wattages on the camper. The failure with the electrical current limited the control to slow the trailer, creating an increased stopping distance while driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for a repair under a GM Customer Satisfaction Program: N232414840; however, the dealer stated the program had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 21,463.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact there would a charge for the repair because the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

The back glass has started leaking. Chevrolet had this problem in the 2019-2020 models but apparently they didn’t correct the issue.

Rear tailgate opening and closing repeatedly on its own. Background: Arrived home from work yesterday evening, Jun 4, 2026. Parked my truck in the driveway. It was a hot sunny day. Turned the vehicle off, exited the vehicle, and locked the doors. Upon walking around behind my vehicle, the tailgate was opening and closing repeatedly. I attempted to manually close it to see if it would stop, I pushed the lock button on my key fob, and I pressed the tailgate button on the dash which would normally cause it to either open or close depending on its current position. None of those steps resolved the issue. I quickly googled the problem, identified the correct fuse in the dash, and pulled the endgate fuse to stop the tailgate from opening and closing on its own. With the fuse pulled, the tailgate does not function. I called my dealer who informed me it is a known issue with some Silverado trucks and that some had been recalled however he noted my 2022 was not included in the recall for this issue. I have an appointment on Jun. 19, 2026 to have it repaired.

My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD High Country 6.6L Duramax engine has an exhaust leak that causes diesel exhaust to travel into the pickup's cab through the outside air vent and air conditioning system during the exhaust system's regeneration. This occurs when the regeneration occurs in city driving especially at low speeds, stop lights, stop signs, parking lots, etc. The pickup has been to the dealer to find and make necessary repairs twice and is currently at the dealer's shop for the third time. This issue with the 6.6L Duramax pickups appears to be a common theme amongst owners and GM should be providing dealers with the appropriate fix with a recall of the exhaust system. This is a safety hazard as carbon monoxide enters the cab with the diesel exhaust and must be rectified. On my pickup, this started at approximately 55,000 miles. Thank you for your prompt attention to this serious air quality issue inside the pickups' cabs.

My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD 6.6 gas with 59K miles has been experiencing the "shift to park" problem associated with this and other Chevrolet/GM vehicles. When putting the car in park, the column shifter moves the transmission from drive to park but when you shut off the vehicle the "Shift to Park" warning comes on and prevents the car from completely shutting down. Apparently, this is due to a defective microswitch inside the steering column that GM is well aware of. There are literally hundreds of thousands of us Chevrolet/GM owners experiencing this same problem and GM needs to acknowledge their problem and fix it as they are charging up to $700 to fix this defective part that they know is causing this issue. This has nothing to do with regular "wear and tear" on the vehicle. GM is well aware of this issue and needs to be held accountable and issue a recall to fix this problem.

Tailgate latch failed, getting ghost signals and opens randomly. Happen to me going 65 mph down the highway. Exact symptoms as recall number N232426400. Have not taken it to a dealer yet. No warning signals

Electric-Release Tailgate opens unexpectedly on its own, when vehicle is put in park. This had happen when a trailer was hitched and now has caused a dent in the tailgate. There is a recall # N232426400/N232426401; but apparently my VIN is not showing in the recall.

The Transmission on my truck down shifted and made it so I lost all power while driving. If I would have been on the freeway it probably would have killed me or caused a serious accident. It is at a shop waiting to be inspected but they said it was the valve body in the transmission. No warning lights came on at all, and the shop had to plug a computer into my transmission to get the codes. GM needs to make this right because it is going to kill someone or cause harm if a bad accident happens due to failure at freeway speeds.

Rear backup camera works intermittently especially after long drives. Screen is black with a camera in a red circle with a slash thru it.

Transmission Control Valve Body (Recall #N242454440) ​Your truck is part of the massive recall issued late last year (expanded in February 2026) regarding the 10-speed Allison transmission. ​The Problem: Internal wear in the valve body causes a drop in pressure, which can cause the rear wheels to lock up suddenly while you're driving. Driving near on the [XXX] had a blowout at because tire separated. My whole family and animals were in the truck. Putting us all at risk. The tires only had 18k miles on them. This is my second complaint of three as three of my falken wild peak AT3 tires separated with less than 20k miles on them. This one separated on the way to get the damage from the first blowout fixed. Tire size 29570r18
