2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2007-2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped with non-desiccated, passenger frontal air bag inflators containing phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant that were used as interim remedy parts for previous Takata recalls. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Risk. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the front passenger or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflators, free of charge. The recall began February 11, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-866-522-9559. GM's number for this recall is N192290990.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2007-2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD trucks manufactured November 28, 2006, to August 29, 2008, and 2007-2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks manufactured November 27, 2006, to August 29, 2008. The affected vehicles are equipped with a passenger side frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture upon its deployment.

Risk. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on July 27, 2015. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's numbers for this recall are 15438 and 15817.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500/3500 trucks manufactured January 18, 2007, to June 22, 2011, and GMC Sierra HD 2500/3500 trucks manufactured January 22, 2007, to June 21, 2011, and equipped with an auxiliary battery. Owners may unknowingly draw too much current through the vehicle's trailer harness resulting in the melting of fusible link for the auxiliary battery.

Risk. If the fusible link melts it may come into contact with adjacent components, damage the electrical center cover, the nearby wiring harness conduit and other vehicle components, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy. GM will notify owners and dealers will replace the jumper harness with one that includes a 40 amp inline fuse, and provide the owner with supplemental Owner Manual information, free of charge. The recall began on August 29, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 14260.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while attempting to sell the vehicle to a dealer, the contact was informed that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 298,649. However, a Carfax history report confirmed an inconsistent report. The mileage was recorded at 259,054 on December 13, 2021, and later the mileage was 232,705 on April 26, 2022. The selling dealer was notified of the mileage discrepancy but denied financial compensation or a resolution.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH and turning into the driveway, the power steering and braking system malfunctioned. The contact stated that the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction and the brake pedal had extended to the floorboard while depressed and the vehicle would not immediately stop. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the engine drive belt had fractured causing the failures. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while reversing, the vehicle made an abnormal sound and the front seat belts became extremely tight and failed to release. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the seat belts. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

DASH BOARD CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES. COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE PLASTIC SHARDS IF AIR BAG INFLATES.

PURCHASED PANTERA AT SUPER TRACK LT 2651 70R16 121/1185 TIRES OCT 2019, IN JAN OR FEB OF 2020 DRIVERS LEFT FRONT BUBBLED WAS REPLACED BY BIG BRAND TIRE, IN SEPT. 2020 ON THE 30TH, RIGHT. BACK TIRE BUBBLED, THEN BLEW OUT AS I WAS DRIVING. AS I PURCHASED FOUR I WANT THE OTHER TWO REPLACED.

POPPED HOOD & GOT OUT OF TRUCK .CHECKED BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR ( FULL TO LINE). PUMPED BRAKES & LOOKED FOR LEAK . FOUND FLUID LEAKING UNDER DRIVERS SIDE COMPARTMENT FROM RUSTED BRAKE LINES RUNNING ON TOP OF FRAME.CALLED AAA & HAD TRUCK TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP. *TR

I NOTICED A PUDDLE UNDER TRUCK ON 4-5-2020. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO RICHARDSON CHEVROLET IN STANDISH ON 4-6-2020 FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND I WAS TOLD MY BRAKE LINES WERE LEAKING AND ALL NEEDED REPLACING WITH AN ESTIMATE OF $1,400. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE TRUCK. IT WAS OUT OF WINTER CONDITIONS FOR 5 YEARS AS WE LIVED OUT OF STATE.

IN MY TRUCK, IN THE DASH, THERE IS A LARGE CRACK THAT STARTED BACK IN 2017. THE CRACK STARTED VERY SMALL. EVERY I HIT A BUMP, NO MATTER WHAT SIZE THE BUMP IS, IT GETS BIGGER AND BIGGER. I NEED MY DASH TO BE FIXED BEFORE I BREAKS COMPLETELY.

"I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON RT-13 IN BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA. I HAD MY WIFE WITH ME COMING BACK FROM WALMART, TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED RED AND BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND LUCKILY STOPPED BEFORE HITTING ANYONE! BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING DRIVER SIDE NEAR GAS TANK, THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH OR NO REASON TO BELIEVE MY BRAKES WOULD FAIL.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUPPORT STRAPS FAILED AND THE TANK FELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH. THE CONTACT RE-STRAPPED THE TANK AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE TANK WAS LEAKING AND THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL LINES WERE DAMAGED. THE TITAN MANUFACTURER OFFERED A SMALL DISCOUNT TOWARDS THE REPAIR COST OF OVER $3,000 SINCE THE FUEL TANK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CO2 CARTRIDGE EXPLODED AND RENDERED THE SEAT BELTS USELESS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO MILLER AND MILLER CHEVROLET, BUICK, GMC, CADILLAC (4204 LAFAYETTE ST, MARIANNA, FL 32446) WHERE IT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 198,000.

THREE WEEKS AGO, MY SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND THE DIGITAL DISPLAY READOUT IS NOT ACCURATE. I FILL IT UP AND IT SAYS I HAVE 90 MILES LEFT TO DRIVE FOR EXAMPLE. THE TACHOMETER AND THE OTHER GAUGES WORK CORRECTLY.

A YEAR AGO, I HAD TO REPLACE ALL OF THE MAJOR UNDERCARRIAGE LINES AFTER THE TRANSMISSION LINES BLEW OUT. WHILE HAVING THE TRANSMISSION LINES AND BRAKE LINES REPLACED, I WAS TOLD THE FUEL LINES WERE SPLIT AT THE FIRE WALL OVER THE TRANSMISSION AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. IT WAS @2K OF AN UNEXPECTED EXPENSE/UPGRADE.
