Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL, and 2009-2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, GMC Sierra 2500 and Sierra 3500 vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands or "Zone A." Additionally, GM is recalling certain 2007-2008 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia or "Zone B." These vehicles are equipped with non-desiccated passenger frontal inflators containing phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Risk. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator with an alternate one, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on February 22, 2021. Second notification letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 1, 2021. Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD, 2009 GMC Topkick 5000, 6000, 7000 and 8000 Series and Isuzu F Series, and 2009-2018 Chevrolet Express, and GMC Savana vehicles, equipped with certain Plastic-Handle Fire Extinguishers or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Risk. In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde to get a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began June 11, 2018. Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500/3500 trucks manufactured January 18, 2007, to June 22, 2011, and GMC Sierra HD 2500/3500 trucks manufactured January 22, 2007, to June 21, 2011, and equipped with an auxiliary battery. Owners may unknowingly draw too much current through the vehicle's trailer harness resulting in the melting of fusible link for the auxiliary battery.

Risk. If the fusible link melts it may come into contact with adjacent components, damage the electrical center cover, the nearby wiring harness conduit and other vehicle components, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy. GM will notify owners and dealers will replace the jumper harness with one that includes a 40 amp inline fuse, and provide the owner with supplemental Owner Manual information, free of charge. The recall began on August 29, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 14260.

Been getting notification post cards about this airbag recall and called my dealer in June 2023 about getting the work done, and have not heard back from them to schedule anything. 11 months later I talked to them, and they say the part is hard to get, and they are waiting on the parts. Now I am 14 months past the time I called to schedule repairs and still no parts. I don't think this is being handled in a timely manner. Still driving around with a recalled airbag.

Our truck 7 pin female hitch plug caught fire and caught our trailer on fire. There is a recall for the 2009 Chevy 2500's but the recall is not on our VIN Number. We would like to report this just in case it is happening to other 2009 Chevy 2500 trucks. ,

I have a 2009 Chevy 2500 HD and my ABS, Stable Trac and air bag lights resently went on and i all the sudden lost brake power and found out that the Abs module and Harness were melted really bad. i have not reported it to anyone yet i dont know how to go about it .

Additionally, while towing a trailer, the trailer brake erroneously activated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the trailer brake sensor was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA Campaign number: 21V053000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts are not available.

THE DASH HAS CRACKED IN 4 DIFFERENT PLACES, TWO OF WHICH IS NEXT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THE DASH CRACKED DURING A FRONT END COLLISION AT A STOP SIGN ON A FARM TO MARKET ROAD.

I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES AS WIRING HARNESS RUB THROUGH BEHIND THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD,RIGHT SIDE OF DASHBOARD CRACKING ABOVE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WHICH WAS REPORTED AND NOTHING DONE AS REPLIES ,I SEE THIS AS A DANGER TO ME AND PASSENGERS AS IT MAY BLOW UP AND HURT OR KILL OCCUPANTS AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES ARE A FIRE HAZARD AS PERSONAL SAFETY .

WENT TO THE STORE AND SAW MY DASH HAD A CRACK IN IT. IT WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY LOCKED. NOBODY HAD ACCESS TO IT.

DASH IS CRACKING AROUND AIRBAG. MINE CRACKED JUST SITTING. THIS SEAMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITHIN THE GM COMMUNITY. THESE DASHES ARE CRACKING AND COULD CAUSE SOMEONE TO BE INJURED SHOULD THE VEHICLE GET INTO AN IMPACT AND NOT ONLY THE AIRBAG DEPLOY BUT PLASTIC SHARDS PROJECT AHEAD OF THE AIRBAG.

LOSS IN FUEL TANK PRESSURE. STRUCTURAL STRESSING CAUSING LEAKS AT TANK, FUEL PUMP MODULE CONNECTOR AND FUEL SUPPLY HOSE. DTC CODES P0446 / P0451. EVAP LEAK LOCATED IN TOP TANK PORT AND ASSOCIATED DIRECT CONNECTION SECONDARY CRACKING OF THE PLASTIC FUEL SUPPLY LINE AT TANK TOP. TANK CRACKED AT PORT. CRACKING DUE TO STRESS FROM NORMAL DRIVING VIBRATIONS AS THESE ARES ARE PROTECTED FROM ROAD HAZARDS.RESULTING GAS LEAK WILL COVER TANK AND METAL SHROUD. FIRE HAZARD FROM LEAKING GAS.

PLASTIC DASH HAS CRACKED 1ST BY THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG, THEN THE MIDDLE, AND NOW THE DRIVER SIDE. I HAVE GLUED THE DASH TRYING TO STOP THE RATTLING. I FIRST NOTICED IT ABOUT A YEAR AGO , NOT SURE IF IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY. IT HAS REDUCED THE COSMETIC VALUE OF MY TRUCK, AND IF I GET IN A WRECK IT COULD POSSIBLY SEND SHARDS OF PLASTIC INTO EYES, AND OR BODY CAUSING BODILY HARM.

DASH AROUND THE AIR BAG AND IN FRONT OF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STARTED CRACKING SHORTLY AFTER WARRANTEE WAS OUT. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE SUN. I TOLD THEM I BOUGHT IT IN FLORIDA AND I'M SURE THE SUN DOESN'T SHINE THERE. WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO KEEP IT IN THE GARAGE AND NEVER TAKE IT OUT. THEY OFFER ME 100.00 TOWARDS THE REPAIR. THAT WAS AN INSULT TO A CLEAR MANUFACTURES DEFECT. THE PLASTIC UPON A COLLISION COULD BECOME A FLYING PROJECTILE THAT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY.

CRACK IN THE DASH NEXT TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. CONCERNS THAT IT MAY HAVE A NEGATIVE IMPACT TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND SAFETY. APPEARS TO BE DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW, AS THERE IS NO SUPPORT AND CHEAP MATERIALS.

NOT ALL OF THE GAUGE LIGHTS WORK ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. SOME WORK LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO AND OTHERS DON'T WORK AT ALL. CHECKED FUSES AND EVERYTHING ELSE I COULD AND ALL IS WELL. HAS TO BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CLUSTER. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHER CHEVROLET'S HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEM. GAUGES WORK FINE ITS THE LIGHTS THAT DON'T WORK.

MY 2009 SILVERADO 2500HD SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY, HIT A BUMP AND IT GOES OUT, COMES ON AGAIN MANY TIMES DURING DRIVING. I CAN MOVE THE WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE DASH AND DUPLICATE THIS ISSUE. THE CHEVROLET DEALER SAYS THAT I MUST LEAVE THE TRUCK THERE BECAUSE IT WILL BE LENGTHY IN TROUBLESHOOTING WHICH WILL BE COSTLY ACCORDING TO THEM.
