Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Odyssey vehicles. Water may enter into the rearview camera, which can cause the rearview camera image to fail to display when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 24, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Defect. The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, which can cause the air bags to deploy unintentionally during a crash.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Odyssey vehicles. A software programming error can cause the side and side curtain air bags to deploy unexpectedly.

Risk. Air bags that deploy unexpectedly can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will reprogram the supplemental restraint system (SRS) electronic control unit (ECU) software or replace the ECU, as necessary, free of charge. The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.

Risk. Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed September 6, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are KGC and KGD. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall numbers 21V-215 and 20V-314.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Acura TLX, 2016-2020 Acura MDX, 2016 and 2018-2019 Pilot, 2017 and 2019 Ridgeline, and 2018-2019 Odyssey vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the connecting rod bearing in the engine may wear and seize, damaging the engine.

Risk. A damaged engine may run improperly or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a fire, crash, or injury.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and repair, or replace the engine as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 28, 2024. 2016-2017 Acura MDX owner letters were mailed November 1, 2024. 2016-2020 Acura MDX owner letters are expected to be mailed in mid-December 2024. Honda began mailing owner notification letters as of March 18, 2024. 2015-2016 Acura owner letters are expected to be mailed mid-December 2024, 2018 Acura TLX owner letters are expected to be mailed the end of March/early April 2024, 2019 Acura TLX owner letters are expected to be mailed mid-May 2024, 2020 Acura TLX owner letters are expected to be mailed mid-June 2024, and 2016-2020 Acura MDX owner letters are expected to be mailed January 27, 2025. Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2023 Odyssey, 2019-2022 Pilot, and 2019-2023 Passport vehicles. Due to a faulty Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) communication coaxial cable connector, the rearview camera image may not appear on the display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. A rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the MOST cable harness and install a straightening cover over the vehicle cable connector, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 24, 2023. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are EEL, ZEM, and SFC.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017-2020 CR-V, 2018-2019 Accord and Accord Hybrid, 2018-2020 Odyssey, 2019 Insight, and 2019-2020 Acura RDX vehicles. A manufacturing issue with the front seat belts may cause the seat belt buckle channel to interfere with the release button, preventing the seat belt buckle from latching.

Risk. An unlatched seat belt cannot properly restrain the seat occupant during a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the driver and front passenger seat belt buckle release buttons or the buckle assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Defect. Braun Corporation (Braun) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Braun-modified Honda Odyssey vehicles. The fuel tank assembly installed by Braun may be susceptible to the fuel tank overfilling into the charcoal canister. If the charcoal canister fills with a sufficient amount of fuel, fuel may leak out.

Risk. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.

Remedy. Braun will notify owners, and dealers will inspect vehicles. If evidence of a fuel leak is present, a new fuel tank assembly and a new Honda charcoal canister will be installed, free of charge. The recall began February 22, 2021. Owners may contact Braun customer service at 1-800-488-0359.

Defect. Honda (America Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Odyssey vehicles. Water may enter the outer door handle cables for the sliding doors. If this occurs, the outer door handle cables may freeze in cold temperatures, preventing the front and rear sliding door latches from securely latching.

Risk. A power sliding door that fails to latch may open while moving, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power sliding door outer handle cables, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is A88.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Odyssey, 2019-2020 Passport, and 2019-2021 Pilot vehicles. Incorrect instrument panel control module software can cause the instrument panel to not display critical information, such as engine oil pressure, speedometer, and gear selector position until the next ignition cycle. Additionally, it can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 101, "Control and Displays" and 111, "Rearview Mirrors."

Risk. Operating a vehicle without a functioning instrument panel or rearview camera display increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the instrument panel control module software, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is T89.

Crankshaft/rod bearing defect that is causing an audible knocking noise in the engine and located metal shavings in the oil.

All systems relating to the forward facing camera have failed.

1. Component failed: The low-pressure fuel pump failed. The vehicle is currently sitting at my residence and is available for inspection upon request.2. Safety risk: The vehicle stalled completely while driving, causing an immediate loss of propulsion on a public road, creating a severe collision risk.3. Confirmation: The problem has been pulled and confirmed by an independent service center (AutoZone diagnostic scan tool), which pulled a code to replace the fuel pump.4. Inspection: The component has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives, as the manufacturer is currently refusing to authorize an inspection due to a salvage title.5. Warning lamps/Symptoms: Immediately prior to the stall, a complete cascade of warning lights appeared on the dashboard simultaneously, and the vehicle sputtered aggressively upon attempting to crank and restart.Assessment: This is the identical, textbook physical failure condition of NHTSA Campaign 23V-858 regarding defective factory-installed Denso fuel pumps in 2018 Honda Odysseys. American Honda Corporate is using an automated salvage title database filter as a pretext to deny mandatory federal safety recall remedies on a vehicle with zero structural fuel system damage.

This vehicle is actively immobilized on private residential property with its central ADAS safety networks and Advanced Driver-Assist networks completely crashed and offline (DTC U3000-49) and active short-to-ground circuit failures (DTC B2035) rendering the passenger sliding doors completely inoperable, creating an immediate entrapment and safety hazard. These progressive component failures cascade directly from severe environmental moisture intrusion inside the rear tailgate enclosure. This exact water migration vector intersects directly with active federal safety campaign NHTSA Recall 26-V-423 (Rearview Camera Failure), which isolates moisture intrusion into the panel housing as the root factory manufacturing defect. A manufacturer franchise location documented active water leakage onto the Power Tailgate Control Unit and heavy corrosion on the wiring connector under a previous Repair Order but performed zero interim moisture sealing, corrosion cleanup, or terminal mitigation, allowing progressive water migration to completely destroy the wiring system harness. Furthermore, American Honda Corporate Case Management explicitly stated on a recorded verbal line that the manufacturer is denying all repair assistance to remedy these cascading safety campaign electrical defects under an active corporate case. The manufacturer is in open default of its statutory federal obligation to remedy a safety recall defect free of charge to the consumer.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving 25 MPH, the audio of the vehicle unexpectedly became inoperable. The failure was a recurring failure. Additionally, there was an abnormal burning odor inside the vehicle. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V431000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer was contacted and stated that the cost of the repair was not covered because the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 90,332.

My vehicle intermittently shifts from normal automatic Drive (D) into S mode without any intentional driver input. I do not touch or activate the steering-wheel paddle shifter when this occurs. Searching on reddit and other forums I see many other drivers have the same issue. The problem appears to happen primarily after coming to a complete stop, such as at a traffic light or stop sign. When I then press the accelerator to proceed, the vehicle may have very little acceleration because it has unexpectedly entered S mode. This has occurred while I was attempting to turn or proceed into traffic and has nearly caused an accident on multiple occasions. The issue is intermittent and cannot be reproduced on demand. However, it has happened multiple times under similar circumstances. I am certain I did not intentionally activate the paddle shifter. I am concerned this may be a safety defect involving the electronic shift control, paddle shifter, transmission controls, sensors, or related software. An unexpected change in transmission mode immediately after stopping can create a dangerous situation because the driver expects normal automatic operation and acceleration when entering an intersection or traffic. I am requesting that NHTSA document this complaint and investigate whether this is a safety-related defect that may affect other vehicles.

Tail gate problems Looks like there are a lot of tailgate problems with the Honda Odyssey, including water leaks that can affect the control module. I replaced the control module, but it looks like there’s a lot of information and research about this issue online.

Rear sliding door failure, doors wouldn't latch properly resulting in opening when driving down the road. Took to dealership for repair. Paid $1633.78 they replaced rear latches 3/31/2026. Rear latches failed to open resulting in one Rear door cable breaking and one that will not open at all 9/1/2026. Neither door opens at this point.

Front Molecular sensor/Camera

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the rear liftgate was inoperable and had to be unlocked through the emergency release in the trunk. Additionally, the contact stated that the rear window seal was significantly fractured. A message that the tailgate was inoperable was displayed accompanied by a chime that was heard inside and outside the vehicle while driving. The contact stated that the message was displayed after a rainstorm. Additionally, while the contact's son was using the seat belt, the contact became aware that the passenger’s side third-row seat belt and seat belt retractor housing attached to the roof were wet. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the tailgate printed circuit board for the locking mechanism was corroded, and the motor had failed. The vehicle was scheduled for the repair. Additionally, the dealer referred the contact to an auto body service center to determine where the water was entering the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. While the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle drove over a pothole and the driver's- and passenger's-side curtain airbags deployed. The air bags deployment frightened the contact’s wife, and the steering wheel was jerked, and the vehicle crashed into the concrete median. The contact stated that the front driver's side tire was flat. The contact removed the deployed side curtain air bags and replaced the driver's side front wheel. The vehicle was inspected by the insurance company. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V227000 (Air Bags). The contact stated that the recall notification was received the day after the failure had occurred. The manufacturer was contacted by phone, and a case was filed. The contact was informed that the case was denied. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

NHTSA Recall 19V-299 / Honda Campaign Z4J. Sudden gear refusal, shifting malfunctions, and stalling. The premature structural failure of my 10-speed transmission is a direct consequence of the known factory software defect that violently shifts the car into Park while moving.

The vehicle would not accelerate over 40MPH, we took the vehicle into the dealership for what we thought was a failed fuel injector, upon inspection they found metal shavings in the oil and mentioned the engine is not repairable and would need a whole new replacement. We had this vehicle 9 months. Upon investigation there was a known recall that is identical to the issues we are experiencing. The whole engine is failed and we cannot utilize it. It was inspected by the dealership. The check engine light is illuminating, and does not increase in speed. My family and I were unable to drive at a reasonable speed on the highway once it failed.

The windshield-mounted front monocular camera (Honda Sensing unit) overheated and failed/burnt out. This failure completely disabled the Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control systems, triggering multiple safety system warning lights on the dashboard.

COMPONENT THAT FAILED & AVAILABILITY: The vehicle's primary electrical architecture and data communications network (CAN bus) failed during a safety recall service for the SRS ECU and rearview camera. After attempting to complete the recall work, the vehicle is no longer able to start. SAFETY RISK: The manufacturer's federally mandated safety recall remedy compromised the vehicle's critical safety and control infrastructure. This rendered a previously reliable family vehicle entirely inoperable, destroying its ability to communicate, start, or turn on. It poses a systemic safety risk if the corporate recall procedure itself causes severe electronic failures in consumer vehicles. REPRODUCTION & DEALER CONFIRMATION: Yes. The failure was induced directly by Williams Honda ([XXX]) during service on Thursday, XXX. The dealership's Service Manager explicitly confirmed to me that their technicians compromised the electrical architecture while performing the SRS ECU and rearview camera recall work. The vehicle has remained dead at their facility ever since. INSPECTION BY OTHERS: The vehicle has been actively inspected by dealership technicians in coordination with Honda Engineering headquarters. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives, as no crash occurred. I have requested an inspection by a Honda Corporate Field Technical Specialist (FTS). The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate, requiring the contact to forcefully depress the accelerator pedal to move the vehicle. The contact stated that multiple warning lights unexpectedly illuminated, including the Road Departure Mitigation system, Collision Mitigation Braking System, and Lane Departure Warning system warning lights, and all related safety features failed to operate. The monocular camera (multipurpose camera secured under the rear view mirror) has failed. This disables the following" Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS): Detects obstacles or vehicles ahead and helps brake automatically if a collision seems likely. Forward Collision Warning (FCW): Works with CMBS to send visual and audible alerts if you get too close to a vehicle in front of you. Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS): Adjusts steering torque to help keep your van centered in a detected lane. Lane Departure Warning (LDW): Alerts you if you drift across detected lane lines without using your turn signal. Road Departure Mitigation (RDM): Applies steering help or braking if you drift off the paved road entirely. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): Maintains a safe, set following distance behind a vehicle traveling ahead of you. These systems are helpful in keeping you safe while driving. The problem with camera failing cause these system warnings to populate on the dash. This is distracting. This has been confirmed with independent service center. Has not been inspected by manufacture. Started August 21. quoted $2200 to replace and recalibrate.

The car on a weekly basis or almost every time it is driven. The car jerks when driving at low speeds. This is a safety risk when driving for vehicles in front or behind me, as the car jerks forward. This has been mentioned to the dealer, but they stated a charge of 180 USD will be incurred for diagnoses. If you look at the NHTSA complaints database there are numerous complaints similar to what I am experiencing from other owners stating the same issue of jerkiness on the honda Odessey. I am surprised there is no recall on this. I put the date in down below but it happens almost every time the car is driven.
