Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2021, 2023 Acura TLX, 2019-2024 RDX, 2017-2020, 2022-2026 MDX, 2017-2021, 2023, 2025 Honda Ridgeline, 2017-2022 Pilot, 2019-2021 Passport, 2018-2026 Odyssey, 2019-2022 Insight, 2019-2021 HR-V, 2018-2020 Fit, 2020-2022 CR-V Hybrid, 2017-2022 CR-V, 2017-2018, 2021 Civic Type R, 2017-2021 Civic hatchback, 2016-2020 Civic coupe, 2016-2022 Civic, 2017-2022 Accord Hybrid, and 2016-2022 Accord vehicles. The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, which can cause the air bags to deploy unintentionally during a crash.

Risk. Air bags that deploy unintentionally during a crash increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 7, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are BOL, WO9, OOA, WOM, XOH, NOC, POD, BOE, UOF, POB, EOG, AOI, QO8, TOJ, DO7, and SOK. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 24V064. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning May 29, 2026.

Defect. Vantage Mobility, LLC (VM) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Honda Odyssey, 2021-2025 Chrysler Pacifica, and Toyota Sienna vehicles equipped with QRT-Deluxe and QRT-Max wheelchair restraints. The retractors may not lock, preventing the wheelchair from being properly secured.

Risk. An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the retractors, free of charge. Owner notification letters was mailed January 27, 2026. Owners may contact Vantage Mobility customer service at 1-800-488-9082.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Odyssey and 2024 Acura RDX vehicles. The steering gear box assembly may not have been tightened properly, allowing water to enter the assembly and cause corrosion and binding gears.

Risk. Corroded and binding steering gears can result in a loss of steering control and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the electric power steering rack, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 4, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are LHU and FHT.

While driving today at about 30 mph, the minivan suddenly braked on its own—despite there being no obstruction ahead—and began beeping. The word "Brake" appeared in large letters in the center of the panel, flashing, before suddenly releasing. My wife and I both suffered whiplash from the incident. There was nothing in front of the van; the only thing nearby was some cars parked on the curb along the side. My wife told me this has happened a couple of times before, and she reported it to Honda of Tomball. I'm very concerned that if we're driving at highway speeds and there are vehicles on both sides of our lane, this issue could occur again, and we could have a serious safety problem on our hands. In addition to this, we've been experiencing another issue: the van suddenly shifts into park when we come to a stoplight. This has happened three times. Yesterday they replaced the battery, but they still suspect it could be a starter issue.

Engine fails to restart after Auto Idle Stop - stalled in traffic twice on consecutive days. On XXX around noon, at [XXX], I was first in line in the left-turn lane at a red light, with my [XXX] daughter and another adult passenger aboard. The Auto Idle Stop system shut the engine off. When the green left-turn arrow came on, the engine did not restart and a stall warning appeared on the dash. I had to confirm the van was in Park with the brake applied, turn the vehicle completely off with the start/stop button, and press the start button many times before the engine started. The van sat stalled at the front of the turn lane, blocking traffic, for roughly 60 seconds during the green arrow. The night before, XXX around 11 pm, the same failure happened in the left-turn lane on [XXX]: the engine shut off at the red light under Auto Idle Stop, did not restart when the green arrow came on, and I was stalled in traffic for roughly 60 seconds going through the same restart process. Since about late XXX the engine has also at times restarted roughly after Auto Idle Stop, even when it does not stall. I could not read the exact warning message because I was stalled in live traffic. A dealer has not yet inspected the problem; the vehicle is being taken to a Honda dealer for warranty diagnosis and is available for inspection. The vehicle engages the emergency breaking system on its own and at random times.

The auto-stop/start feature in this vehicle, when activated, causes the engine to stall when starting back up. We have had the battery and starter both replaced, and it is still causing an issue. Now, even with the system deactivated, the vehicle will stall, most likely based on the increased wear on the starter. We have noticed that during initial startup, we have to press the ignition button several times before the vehicle actually starts, and often, when it does start, it struggles to start right away.

2024 honda Odyssey EX-L fails to restart after stop

I believe the issue is the media oriented systems transport coaxial cable and FAKRA connector from the 2018-2023 recalls. The rear infotainment system does not load or display anything now. Same goes for the in cabin video and Apple car play. They do not work anymore either. There were no warnings before everything stop working. It just stopped while drive home.

Multiple times since new the van has failed to restart when the auto start/stop has activated. This leaves me in an intersection with a non running car that I need to figure out the right combination of buttons to get it started again. Today it escalated and refused to restart until I shut off the ignition, open the door, closed the door, and then started it. Honda will not do anything if they can not duplicate it. So I am left with a car that is getting more unsafe to drive.

Vehicle was stopped at a red light. Light turned green and the engine off would not restart the vehicle to go. Had to turn the car off, let reset, then restart while in traffic.

The contact owns a 2024 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while the vehicle was being driven at 65 MPH with the contact in the front passenger's seat, all of the frontal airbags deployed without impact and struck the driver and the contact. Both occupants sustained injuries. The driver sustained injuries on the wrist and knees while the contact sustained injuries on the chest, and a burn on the neck from the seatbelt. Medical attention was required for the injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The failure mileage was 130,000.

I purchased a used 2024 Honda Odyssey in September 2026 with approximately 12,000 miles. The vehicle intermittently experiences delayed starting and extended cranking when attempting to start the engine. CarMax was aware of the starting concern at the time of purchase. After purchase, CarMax replaced the battery, but the problem persisted. The vehicle was subsequently kept for approximately eight days for further diagnosis, and I was informed that technicians could not reproduce or identify the issue. I am concerned that the intermittent starting problem could worsen and potentially leave my family stranded. I am requesting that NHTSA review this complaint for a possible vehicle safety defect.

My 2024 Honda Odyssey repeatedly failed to restart after the automatic idle stop system engaged at traffic lights. On numerous occasions, the engine shut off normally but would not restart when I attempted to resume driving. I had to shift into Park and manually restart the engine before continuing. This happened regularly and created a safety concern because I could become stranded in traffic with my children in the vehicle. I eventually began manually disabling the automatic idle stop feature every time I drove because I was afraid the vehicle would fail to restart. I reported the issue verbally to a Honda dealership employee during a previous service visit and was advised to disable the automatic idle stop feature rather than continue using it. In October 2026, at approximately 21,000 miles, the vehicle displayed a low battery warning. Several days later, it completely failed to start after stopping at a gas station. Three separate jump-start attempts were unsuccessful. The dashboard lights and audio system worked, but the power windows stopped functioning. An authorized Honda dealership diagnosed a completely failed starter. The service advisor stated that the starter failure had also drained the battery. Both components were replaced under the factory warranty. The dealership stated that these repairs should resolve the previous idle stop failures, but the underlying cause of the premature starter failure has not been explained, and I do not yet know whether the problem

The middle row passenger side seat stopped functioning. The lever on the middle row seat that must be used to allow third row passengers to exit or enter the vehicle does not work. So the seat will not move forward to allow exit if necessary as intended. This is a safety issue in the event of accident or fire and if third row passengers need to exit the vehicle quickly, or to be able to access child in car seat. Honda has informed me that despite the vehicle being under the new bumper to bumper vehicle warranty that fixing this issue is "not covered" under the warrantly. There is no damage to the seat or lever mechanism that is visible or that has occurred. Rather the lever just stopped working. To the extent this presents a safety issue, and Honda will not address it (their corporate customer service folks have also not communicated with me regarding the complaint about this issue and the mention that this also represents a safety issue), I am reporting this problem to NHTSA. The idle off system when activated and when attempting to let up off the brake, the car fails to start. It stalls in the middle of an intersection and shifts into park and having to restart the vehicle.

Safety complaint: Rearview camera/display failure on 2024 Honda Odyssey (VIN [XXX]). On [XXX], the center display screen went black and the rearview camera image became distorted and unclear while reversing. Since then, every time the vehicle is started, the display is extremely dim and nearly black-and-white, and the rearview camera image is unusable. A dealer factory reset in early September 2026 did not resolve the issue; the servicing dealer (Ourisman Honda of Frederick) states the screen will most likely need replacement. This is the same failure mode covered by Honda's 2023 recall for 2018–2023 Odyssey models (faulty display/camera connection, ~1.2M vehicles), but the 2024 model year is excluded despite exhibiting the identical defect. Idle stop sometimes stalls out vehicle. Already replaced starter in vehicle. Problem started up again just a few months later.

4 months After purchasing, vehicle had warped rotors. Vehicle has stalled in traffic 4 times completely shutting off while in drive. Seeping radiator. And violation shaking when breaking.

Sometimes when the car turns off for the auto stop function at something like a stop light or stop sign it stalls when trying to restart. This requires a whole restart with getting back into park and getting the van to start again. It seems to happen most often when the air conditioning is on but not on full blast. I brought it to the dealer once and they couldn’t reproduce the issue or find something wrong. It has happened since that appointment and I am bringing it back. Some lights show up on the dash but i don’t remember which ones as I’m trying to frantically start the van again because I’m typically stalled at a stop light.

When stopped in a lane of travel, the vehicle's Auto Idle Stop system engages. However, when I take my foot off of the brake to begin moving forward, the vehicle stalls while in the lane of travel. I have to turn the vehicle off and back on again to begin moving.

The vehicle came to a complete stop at a stoplight at a busy intersection and the Auto Idle Stop feature engaged. When the brake was released to resume driving, the engine struggled to restart, and then stalled completely in the middle of traffic. The vehicle did not automatically restart upon releasing the brake, and had to be placed into park, turned off completely, and then restarted manually to regain vehicle control. This has happened several times. There have also been instances where the vehicle did not stall completely, but bucked violently when the Auto Idle Stop feature restarted the vehicle.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety issue with my Honda's Auto Idle Stop/Start system. On multiple occasions, while stopped in traffic or at an intersection, the Auto Idle Stop system has automatically shut off the engine as designed. However, when I release the brake and attempt to proceed, the engine fails to restart. The vehicle becomes stalled and immobilized in the middle of active traffic. I have been stuck at traffic intersections because of this failure, creating a significant safety concern. When the vehicle fails to restart, surrounding traffic expects the vehicle to move when the light changes, while I am unable to accelerate or safely clear the intersection. This creates a risk of a collision, particularly from vehicles approaching from behind.

We recently moved from [XXX] to [XXX]. The first time driving down a mountain the vehicle violently shook when applying the brakes to keep the speed under control. Upon taking it to a Honda service location, the technician revealed hot spots on both front brake rotors. The van has only 21319 miles, and the rotors needed to be replaced with new rotors to make the vehicle safe. The service representative refused to file a warranty claim with Honda because he said “rotors are a wear-and-tear item.” The warranty states bumper-to-bumper coverage for 3 years, or 36000 miles, but does not cover normal wear-and-tear. These hot spots were not normal wear-and-tear. Nonetheless, the representative refused to file a warranty claim unless I was willing to leave the car at their shop for 48 hours or more while they wait for a response, and emphasized that “I’ve never seen Honda accept this claim.” Upon further review of the brake specs, it seems that Honda uses cast-iron OEM rotors which may not be suitable for normal wear-and-tear for a 6000 lb vehicle. To make matters worse, the new OEM brakes are only warrantied for 12 months/12000 miles whereas a non-Honda service station would have installed a heavy-duty brake for less cost and also warrantied it for 3 years/36000 miles. Today 09/24/2026 while stopped at a traffic light the car lost all electrical power and blacked out while in auto-idle stop. Last week while driving the middle electrical screen went dark. After a few minutes while driving the H symbol appeared on the display and the screen reloaded.

The infotainment screen just went blank. No phone, radio, backup camera works. The car runs fine. Tried to reset and unplug the battery but did not fix the problem. Van is still under warranty taking it in for diagnostic.

My vehicle automatically shut off at a stop light and instead of turning back on, it died and left me stuck in traffic. I purchased the vehicle from a dealer on 9/11/2026 and this first happened 9/14/2026, and again on 9/18/2026. Both times my automatic shut off was automatically on and both times I was at a stop light where the automatic shut off engaged and instead of turning back on- my Van died at the light. Both times I was stuck in traffic.

The vehicle's Auto Idle Stop (AIS) system failed to restart the engine after engaging at a complete stop. The affected components are the engine, starter motor, and AIS control software. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. On XXX, at approximately 7:43 PM, the AIS system engaged while I was stopped at the intersection of [XXX]. Upon releasing the brake pedal, the engine failed to restart. The vehicle became fully immobilized in an active left-turn lane with traffic behind me. I was required to shift to Park and manually depress the Start button multiple times to restore power. Multiple vehicles behind me began sounding their horns. A minor child was a passenger in the vehicle. This is not an isolated incident. The vehicle has been presented to Howdy Honda, in Austin, Texas, for the same defect on three to four prior occasions. On the most recent prior visit, the dealer replaced the starter motor — the specific remedy prescribed by Honda Technical Service Bulletins 23-008 and 23-009. The vehicle was returned to me as repaired. The failure recurred the same day. The defect has been confirmed and repair attempted by the authorized Honda dealership. The manufacturer has been on notice of this defect class-wide since at least 2018. Prior to and during failure events, the instrument cluster displays a Red Exclamation Mark warning light and/or a "Brake System" warning light. These warnings first appeared in conjunction with the initial AIS failure events and recur

While the idle stop system was active, the vehicle turned off while stopped at a red light as expected. After the light turned green, the vehicle did not restart and turned all the way off and then attempted to reboot. I had to push the on button to turn the car back on. The first three attempts to start the vehicle resulted in clicking sounds like a dead battery. This has reoccurred at least 4 times in the past couple weeks and has only occurred while restarting with idle-stop and not when starting for the first time. I’m concerned I will get rear ended while I have my little kids if it doesn’t restart.

My 2024 Honda Odyssey has repeatedly failed to restart after the Auto Idle Stop system shuts the engine off while stopped at a red light or in traffic. Normally, the engine should automatically restart when I release the brake, but on several occasions the vehicle completely shut down and I had to manually restart it. During one incident, the vehicle would not restart for approximately 1–2 minutes despite repeated attempts. This left the vehicle disabled in traffic and created a serious safety concern. The problem has occurred multiple times.

My vehicle has approximately 12,000 miles and on 9/7/26 and 9/11/26, my vehicle would not restart at a light with the auto shut off. I had 4 small children with me on 9/7/26 and had several cars behind me aggressively honking. I could not get the car to restart for several seconds. I was finally able to turn the car completely off and get it to restart. The instance on 9/11/26 was equally as startling. After talking to a friend who has the same Honda Odyssey, she said her van was actually at the dealer with the exact same problem. The Honda dealership told her this is a “known issue” and she is having her starter replaced. I am so upset that Honda has failed to ensure the safety of a van that families rely on. I will be taking our van to the dealer next week.

When in traffic at a stop, my car goes into idle mode, and when I take my foot off the brake to switch to the accelerator the car shuts down. It takes a few tries to get the car started back up again. This has been happening intermittently for over a year.

The idle stop system was on while I was driving my car. At the stop light, it activated. When the light turned green and I took my foot off the gas, the car shut off. I had to press the ignition start button several times to get the car to start again.

My 2024 Honda Odyssey Elite has had two recent incidents of car going into idle and won't start up. The more serious one happened while I was stopped waiting to make a left turn. The Auto Idle Stop system shut the engine off when I was waiting on. Y left turn engine did not restart. I was stuck in the roadway for about two minutes before I was able to start the vehicle again. The red battery warning light was on while the engine would not restart. A few days prior during a trip from [XXX] to [XXX] the vehicle also would not start after I had been sitting with the engine off and accessories running at a gas station. After turning off the A/C fan, rear entertainment system, and unplugging my phone, the vehicle eventually started. I took the vehicle to a Honda dealer (Honda of [XXX]) They inspected it but said they could not reproduce the problem, so no repair was made. And they refuse to use my warranty to fix it. The vehicle is available for further inspection. My main safety concern is that the Auto Idle Stop system can shut the engine off in traffic and then fail to restart, leaving the vehicle disabled in an intersection like what happened to me. The contact owns a 2024 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while entering the vehicle through the rear passenger-side sliding door, the door began to close automatically while the leg of the contact's child was still outside of the vehicle. The child sustained lacerations and tendon damage to the left foot, requiring medical attention. No warning lights illuminated. A local dealer was notified of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

Car fails to restart after shutting down using the idle start/stop issue

While stopped at a red light on a busy road my car engine stopped and usually it automatically restarted when I let off the gas but it would not start and the engine would not turn on. The car was stalled and it took multiple attempts to get the engine to restart. This has happened 3 times now. I have had the battery tested and the battery is good and my mechanic believes it is an issue with the starter

The van has trouble restarting. This can appear as both a sluggish restart and a complete failure to restart. The van has failed to restart both during quick stops like refueling and during the auto-stop feature at a stop light. When this happens, the driver must completely shut off the van and restart, which is a safety issue when stuck while blocking traffic. The van is having the starter replaced for a second time after the dealer determined the starter was failing. The starter was replaced in 2025 under warranty because the dealer determined the starter was failing. There are no warning lamps, but the starting does start to slow down over time. We missed the slow down the first time until it failed to restart because the onset is gradual. We only noticed the second time because we'd already encountered the issue. The two dealerships we've taken the van to for this issue were both hesitant to do the work, claiming trouble recreating the issue.

I was stopped at a stoplight. The car has idle stop so the engine turns off at the light. When I tried to go the car went into park. I could not get it back in drive and had to turn the car off then back on. Meanwhile I am stuck in the middle of the road with traffic. This has happened several times before.

Yesterday (8/21/2026) my husband took this vehicle in for a routine oil change and upon the 100 point inspection was informed there was an oil leak somewhere from the engine. This vehicle is barely 2 years old and barely at 30,000 miles. There were 0 signs of a leak somewhere we had no idea. They completed diagnostics and determined it was the axle seal. Thankfully this was covered under warranty but their master mechanic shared with my husband that this is a very well known issue with the 2024 models and the fix is using the newer manufacturing parts. Again, there were no visible signs of a leak, there were no vehicle computer warnings of an issue other than the oil life alerts that are programmed.

The Auto Idle Stop mode has caused my car to stall out at least 10 times since I bought the vehicle in August 2024. Each time it has occurred, it has taken me several minutes to restart the car. I’ve bought my vehicle to Hilton Head Honda in Bluffton, SC two times to have them inspect the vehicle. The only thing they have done is replaced the battery which has not solved the problem.

The speakers make a popping and crackling noise that is repeated, in a mid tone - high tone - low tone noise pattern, when the radio is on or off. It begins when the engine is turned on. It also occurs in standby/engine is not on/radio is on mode or in standby/engine is not on/radio is not on. The popping/crackling occurs whether the radio is on or not, and the radio can be heard along with the popping and crackling noise. I am guessing it is similar to the recall 23V-431, but this van VIN number does not have any recalls associated with it yet. Restarting the radio, resetting the radio, etc does not alleviate the issue. Also, the cabin camera is not working, says "problem with camera" and displays "loading" with the moving circular icon. The display remains dark for the cabin camera, and rear entertainment screen is also not accessible. Cannot recall any large bumps in the road, no collisions with anything. If the design of the cables has not changed, then the recall needs to cover all VINS manufactured with the same wire assemblies and procedures, including all future VINS, as this problem is clearly repeatable. The customer should not bear the burden to fix an issue that has been deemed an issue in prior year models, with no changes to the design or assembly procedure to the related components.

On 2 occasions now automatic Start/Stop system has failed to restart. First was approximately 5 weeks ago and Second was Monday 3 Aug 2026. Dealer on first occurrence said there was a loose wire. Have not been to Dealer on 2nd occurrence yet. Situation in both cases is the vehicle was seemingly operating normally with no warnings displayed and I stopped in traffic. When traffic cleared and I tried to proceed; the vehicle was non responsive and would not start when I activated the normal start sequence.

2024 odyssey engine shut off while in drive thru at restaurant. Unshure if auto start stop override was active. Either way the van had to be re started using the start button. Van re started on second or third attempt to re start with start button. This is a repeat occurance since having starter replaced in response to a similar problem about a year ago.

Car purchased July 4, 2024. Idle stop/start was working but after several months, it became defective. After driving for some time, idle stop/start wouldn't work properly and cut the engine off when idling. I would have to turn the car, open my door, and try to restart the car. It also occurs after parking, turning off the car and less than 10-15min attempt to restart. Most of the time, it'll start after 1 or 2 attempts. Except today 07/31/2026, I got home and parked. After 20min, I tried to start my car and after 10-15 attempts, it wouldn't start. After waiting 2 hours, the car finally started.

The contact owns a 2024 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and attempting to place her [XXX] child in the rear passenger’s side seat, the contact touched the door handle, unlocking the door, and placed the bag with the key fob on the floor of the rear passenger’s side. The contact walked around to the driver's side door, and the door was locked. The contact returned to the rear passenger side of the vehicle and became aware that the door was locked. The contact attempted to enter the vehicle but was unsuccessful. The contact called the Fire Department, and the front passenger window was broken to enter the vehicle. A Police report was taken, but the information was not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. 2024 Honda Odyssey with only 24K miles has a leak in the tailgate from bad welding in the body that is gathering water in the trunk. Safety isn’t at risk but I would say that the corrosion to any electrical items are at risk which will put me and my family and others at risk of something failing. Yes the problem has been reproduced and it’s a common thread on the internet. We will be taking it to the dealership to inspect since it’s still under warranty. No messaging of this from the car except the fowl odor.

From a cold start my vehicle starts fine, but from a warm engine start the van would have trouble starting. Took it to Navarre Honda in Lake Charles, La and they found that the starter solenoid and 2 relays were bad and had to be replaced.

While stopped at traffic lights or in traffic, the Auto Idle Stop system activates, but the engine sometimes fails to restart when I release the brake pedal. The vehicle becomes disabled in traffic, and I have to shift the transmission into Park (P) to restart the engine.

Completely shuts off during an idle stop at a traffic light

My minivan has had repeated electrical and safety-related failures since shortly after it was leased. The vehicle has died or failed to start five times, including multiple tow events. The first battery failure happened shortly after delivery, but we thought a light may have been left on and did not know to bring it in. The problem continued. The dealer has replaced the battery, recharged the battery, replaced the alternator, and later found an excessive parasitic draw, but the electrical problems have continued. The failures affect more than starting. The sliding doors have failed 30+ times by refusing to close and acting like something is blocking them when nothing is there. This creates a safety concern because passengers may not be able to safely enter, exit, or secure the vehicle. The instrument cluster has gone black on startup in Park about 10 times and has also blacked out or faulted while in use. A brake failure warning light appeared once. The backup camera intermittently dims so badly that I cannot see behind the vehicle while reversing. A service advisor observed this issue, but the technician could not reproduce it during inspection. The DVD/interior electronics, USB charging, and wireless phone charger have also failed.
