2014 GMC Sierra 1500

Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.

Risk. A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

Risk. Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.

Risk. As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD, 2009 GMC Topkick 5000, 6000, 7000 and 8000 Series and Isuzu F Series, and 2009-2018 Chevrolet Express, and GMC Savana vehicles, equipped with certain Plastic-Handle Fire Extinguishers or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Risk. In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

Risk. A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. The vehicles may have a temporary loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist, especially during low-speed turning maneuvers.

Risk. If EPS assist is lost and then returns, the driver might lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks manufactured January 29, 2013, to January 21, 2015. While entering the vehicle, the seat belt tensioner cable may be positioned such that the driver slides over it. This movement may result in the fatigue and separation of the cable.

Risk. If the tensioner cable separates, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will modify the vehicles to prevent the tensioner from being damaged. Any tensioner that has already been damaged will be replaced, free of charge. Defect. General Motors is recalling certain 2014 model year Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, and 2015 model year Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV; Chevrolet Silverado HD; and GMC Sierra HD, Yukon, and Yukon XL, equipped with a 4.3L engine or 5.3L engine.

Risk. The overheated exhaust components may melt nearby plastic parts and may result in an engine fire.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked and pulled to the right. No warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that while driving over a bump in the road, the vehicle lost automotive power and shut off. The contact restarted the vehicle. I am experiencing ongoing issues with the 6L80E transmission that have significantly affected the performance and reliability of my vehicle. The transmission shifts harshly between gears, hesitates when accelerating, and occasionally slips before engaging. There is also a noticeable shudder during acceleration and inconsistent shifting, especially at lower speeds. These problems have become more frequent over time and raise concerns about the safety and dependability of the vehicle. The transmission does not operate as expected for normal driving conditions, and the issues negatively impact the overall driving experience. I am requesting a thorough inspection of the transmission, an explanation of the cause of these issues, and an appropriate repair or resolution to restore the vehicle to proper working condition.

Truck shut off and would not turn back on. Negative battery cable so hot it burned skin off. Would not start, tried to start clicking sound, radio blipped for a moment.

The vacuum pump has been recalled on same year, make and model vehicle, yet my particular VIN is falling to the wayside. IT HAS A VACUUM PUMP issue, causing the brakes to malfunction at slower rates of speed. A "computer programming recall" was applied to my VIN however it is the ACTUAL Vacuum pump that is the problem. This should have been covered in all year, make and models. BRAKES ARE IMPORTANT! Reprogramming did not solve the vacuum pump issue that is causing the brakes to fail! This is absolute negligence on behalf of General Motors.

Starter went out and needed replaced. I know there is a recall on other models in the same year and mode;l but mine wasnt listed.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving downhill, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. In addition, the vehicle felt as if it were in neutral. The tachometer gauge revved up independently. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled to the side of the road. The contact opened the front hood and noticed that one of the transmission lines had failed. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact replaced the hose and filled up the transmission reservoir. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a specialty transmission place and rebuilt the transmission. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that a few months later the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the specialty shop, and the transmission was replaced. The contact stated that a few months later, while driving at an undisclosed speed, an abnormal odor was emitting from the front end of the vehicle. The contact was able to pull to a rest area, and when the front hood was open, the contact noticed that one of the transmission lines had a leak and transmission oil was being sprayed all over. The contact was able to replace the transmission hose. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

6.2L Engine has well documneted problem with the valvetrane, I have had to fix it 2 times in 3 months. I have pictures and documents from servicing dealerships. Since my ownership, it has always been dealer-serviced. Unexpected catastrophic engine failure, which happened on a major interstate. GM service technicians know there is a valvetrane issue. This instance, the warning light came on under and overpass, and the truck coasted to a stop just past the end of the on-ramp. A GM (Chevrolet dealership currently has it) and a GMC dealership has serviced it since my ownership.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 30-40 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power, and RPM became raised. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and was diagnosed with lower and upper fuel pump failure. The contact was informed that the lower and upper fuel pumps needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic made the contact aware of TSB Number: 13370A (Fuel Pump). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the TSB; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while at a stop sign, the vehicle stalled. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. A dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched and became aware of an undisclosed recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.

The vehicle experienced complete lifter failure on cylinder number 4 bending the intake valve push rod thus shutting down the cylinder. The vehicle has 167,000 miles and is well maintained. The vehicle gave no warning signs that there was a problem. Simply driving down the road, normal engine temperature, normal oil pressure, the check engine light comes on at the same time the engine begins to mis-fire. Pulling over to the side of the road, I could hear lifter noise from the right bank of the engine. The dealership (Ocean Crest Chevrolet/GMC Warrenton, Oregon) confirmed the damage. The mechanic and the service manager both state the damage is a direct result of the GM cylinder deactivation system, and every single one they have repaired has been cylinder number 4. They further stated that GM has recommended a lifter change when repairing the damage, in other words, the lifters that were installed when the engine was originally built are defective. This damage occurs on both the 5.3 and the 6.2 with cylinder deactivation, and according to the dealership, it begins with cylinder number 4. This problem has also been responsible for cam damage which results in total engine replacement/rebuild due to metal contaminating the oil.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. While the contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware that there was smoke coming from the rear window and the window shattered. The contact stated that the defroster was operating during the failure. The contact stated that the shattered glass had fallen on the contact's minor son, who was seated in the rear seat. The son had not sustained any injuries. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the repair was previously performed and covered under the warranty. The contact was informed that the current repair was not covered under warranty. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 156,800.

Engine failed December 2024 at 140,274 miles. 2 cylinders failed due to lifter failure and had a total loss of power. Engine was replaced by a local shop.

Hard shifting transmission and fluid smells burnt, shifts hard in the lower gears and reverse

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle drove over a slight bump in the road. The contact stated that the vehicle bounced, and then there was an abnormal banging sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact recently had work completed on the exhaust system. The contact took the vehicle back to the independent mechanic who had performed the exhaust repair. The mechanic raised the vehicle on the lift and became aware that the rear passenger’s and driver's side cross members, supports for the shock absorbers, and the rear sub frame had extensive corrosion. The contact was advised by the mechanic that the banging sound was coming from the shock absorbers striking the bed of the truck while driving over the bump in the roadway. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,569.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25-30 MPH, the power steering became inoperable. The check engine warning light was illuminated due to the fuel tank cap being missing. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V246000 (Steering). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a short in the steering gear. The vehicle was not repaired. Vehicle stalling at low speeds Oil pressure solenoid stuck fault and P0011 camshaft fault.

The vehicle’s frame has severely rusted to the point of structural compromise. My certified mechanic determined on December 10, 2024, that the frame could not pass the state safety inspection due to advanced corrosion. Welding is now required to restore structural integrity. The truck has remained inoperable and sidelined since that date. The frame is available for inspection upon request, and I have photos, repair invoices, and a mechanic’s written evaluation. This same frame was previously reworked by GMC twice: May 7, 2018 – Frame treated for premature rust. November 4, 2019 – Frame recoated after prior treatment failed due to improper descaling. Despite these reworks under GMC direction, the issue has progressed to a dangerous level. The structural integrity of the frame is compromised. A severely rusted frame puts occupants and others on the road at risk in the event of a collision, towing, or even regular driving. A weakened frame could lead to loss of vehicle control, failure to protect occupants in a crash, or catastrophic breakage of suspension or driveline components while in motion. Yes. The problem has been confirmed by an independent certified mechanic, who inspected the frame and advised that the rust is beyond surface level and requires welding to repair. They refused to weld during winter due to safety concerns and advised that the truck could not be driven or pass inspection in its current state. The vehicle was previously serviced under GMC’s direction in 20

1. while driving slow or making a right hand turn the vehicle turns itself off 2. periodically the car does not start/no power and does not respond to keyless car lock 3. periodically the dashboard panel lights will not turn off, flash or some will go off but not all All of the above have been a twice repaired GMC recall 17276 and has been occurring since 2020.
