General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2009 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Sierra 2500, Sierra 3500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia or "Zone B." Risk. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator with an alternate one, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on February 23, 2021. Second notification letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 20, 2021. CERTAIN FEDERAL-MOGUL REPLACEMENT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES WITH THE BRAND NAMES: NATIONAL, CARQUEST P/NOS. 515020, 515021, 515025, 515053, 515054, 515059, AND 515060, SHIPPED BETWEEN JANUARY 23, 2006, AND DECEMBER 20, 2007, SOLD FOR LIGHT DUTY AND MEDIUM DUTY TRUCKS. THE INBOARD RETENTION NUT USED TO MAINTAIN HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY CAN LOOSEN RESULTING IN AN ABS LIGHT INDICATION, NOISE, AND/OR WHEEL SEPARATION.

Risk. WHEEL SEPARATION CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

Air bags warning

I was in a rollover accident on June 26th 2025 in my boyfriends 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 where we flipped 5 and a half times. The wheel separated from the rim. I will upload photos since I am unsure how to explain how the wheel damage is. During the crash the drivers air bags deployed but the passengers did not. When we finally landed we ended up on the roof. My boyfriend tried to unbuckle my seatbelt but it would not release. He ended up cutting my seatbelt and then at that time (approx 3 min after we landed) the passenger airbag deployed striking my boyfriend in the back, neck and head. Which knocked him out for approx 1 hour. My boyfriend had several open lacerations to his back, neck, head and his arms and metal pieces were imbedded in his skin. He also suffered other injuries like a fractured back, and several other medical problems.I got a severe concussion in which it has caused me severe headaches, memory problems and cognitive issues. Both of us have reduced quality of life.

Driving on Interstate at a speed of 70 when truck lost power. Check engine light came on and other lights on dash came on also. 2007 with 160k miles original barely driven. This year should be a part of the Class Action Suit

Driving on Interstate at a speed of 65, truck lost power. Check engine light and all lights on dash appeared I initially mistakenly reported the wrong mileage of 160k. My vehicle only has 135k miles on it

The truck in question has LESS than 163k miles and burn a quart of oil a day, loss of power. There HAS been a recall on this SAME MOTOR 5.3 but while this year was ACKNOWLEDGED it was NOT a part of a recall EXCEPT for passenger side air bag that was replaced at dealership and damaged dash in process. Not it is NON DRIVE ABLE due to oil pressure issues

We were on the highway going 65 mph and all a sudden a long bang happened. After that the anti skid light came on causing the truck to drive hard and lack of power. The engine had a sound that didn’t seam right.

The contact called a dealer and was informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V640000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.

The frame is completely rusting out.There needs to be something done about this please

I was at a stop light and heard a loud noise like a shotgun blast. I felt a concussion hit me in the chest. I thought I had been shot at, then thought I was possibly rear ended but nobody was behind me. I noticed the airbag light was on, the hazards were on and I couldn't shut them off, and the seatbelts were, and still are all locked. But no airbag deployed. There was a smell in the cab that vaguely smelled like a cross between gunpowder and ozone. It's fortunate that I was not at freeway speed.

Transmission

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500. There is an alert for inspect airbags on the dash.

Takata Recall. The contact owns a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500. The contract stated while driving 20 MPH, the front driver's side air bag deployed with no impact. The contact stated that the battery warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that after the inadvertent deployment, the front passenger side of the vehicle crashed into a barricade. The contact stated that he sustained a concussion; however, no medical attention was sought. A Police report was not filed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 104,000.

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that there was a crack on the passenger’s side dashboard close to the air bag housing. The contact stated that there was also a crack on the driver's side above the instrument panel and in the middle of the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed her that the manufacturer would not be responsible for the dashboard repairs in 2019. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the cracks have progressed over the years. The contact stated that she received NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V050000 (Air Bags) and the vehicle was taken to Reliable Buick GMC (400 Automall Dr, Roseville, CA 95661) for the recall repair and she was informed that she had to sign a waiver for the dashboard damages in order to replace the air bag. The contact stated that she was informed that there was a possibility of the dashboard cracking during the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that after the dealer serviced the front passenger’s side air bag inflator under recall, the passenger’s side air bag warning light failed to illuminate with a passenger seated in the passenger’s seat. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with a code reader, which showed an incorrect installation of equipment code. The dealer was made aware of the failure and diagnosed the vehicle with Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM) sensor failure. The dealer informed the contact that the Sensing Diagnostic Control Module needed to be reprogrammed or replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 176,000.

VEHICLE HAS INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM, CAUSING STALLING, VERY LOW ROUGH IDLE, UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENS IN TRAFFIC, AT STOP LIGHTS ETC. THE MAKE AND MODEL OF MY TRUCK IS INCLUDED IN A SAFETY RECALL BULLETIN #14515B JANUARY 2015, HOWEVER MY PARTICULAR TRUCK IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND THEY ARE UNWILLING TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP FLOW CONTROL MODULE THAT IS CAUSING THIS SAFETY HAZARD. MY BELIEF IS THAT GM RECALLED CERTAIN VEHICLES AND EXCLUDED SOME THAT SHOULD BE IN THE SAFETY RECALL SCOPE. *TR

WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JULY OF 2016 FOR A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG. WE HAVE MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO HAVE IT REPLACED AT OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP BUT WE ARE TOLD EACH TIME THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. WHILE WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A MASSIVE RECALL, IT HAS NOW BEEN OVER 3 YEARS WAITING FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART. WE WERE TOLD OUR ONLY OPTION WAS TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER OR FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NTSB.

WHY HAS GM NOT BEEN TOLD TO FIX THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG ON MY 2007 GMC PICKUP FOR OVER 2 YEARS SINCE I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL OF THE DEFECTIVE TAKATA ACTUATER. D? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE OR SUFFER SERIOUS INJURY BEFORE THEY WILL HAVE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM?
