Defect. General Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 2500, 3500, and 2020-2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have been repaired incorrectly under recall 24V797. The transmission control valve may fail and cause the rear wheels to lock up.

Risk. Rear wheel lock up increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect the vehicles and update the transmission control software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 6, 2026. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.

Risk. Engine failure increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect the engine, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install 6 oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner's manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with chrome front grille deflectors. The attachments that hold the front grille deflectors in place may fracture, resulting in grille detachment.

Risk. A detached front grille deflector may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5; 2021-2023 Buick Envision; and 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk. DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. The body control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2023. Defect. General Motors (GM) has decided that certain 2022 model year Chevrolet Silverado, and GMC Sierra vehicles equipped with an accessory sport bar. The accessory sport bar contains a high-mounted brake light that may not function. In addition, it may block the vehicle's existing high-mounted brake light. As such, these vehicles may fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

Risk. An inoperative high-mounted brake light can reduce visibility to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect the installation of the accessory bar and provide the correct vehicle wiring, if necessary, free of charge. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 118 complaints alleging detachment of the upper grille deflector on 2022-2024 model year (MY) GMC Sierra vehicles. 21 of these 118 complaints allege that the upper grille deflector detached after Recall 25V-060 was performed. I was driving on a highway when the front grill deflector flew off of my vehicle and broke my driver's side windshield wiper. The incident scared me and made me jump and I'm not sure where the part went after it flew over my wind shield but it could have hit the car behind me. The part in question was part of recall 25V060. I took the vehicle to the dealership, and they said they had already completed the recall in June of 2025 and that GMC would not cover the cost of fixing it. I see there is a new query for this exact problem RQ26003.

After the recall was completed for the propulsion update and oil weight of 0-20 to 0-40 the truck started experiencing engine jerking and noise while driving. The MPG decreased significantly after the engine was replaced at 22k miles, driving on the interstate cruise control at 80mph the engine seized and I was almost smashed by a simi-truck. No steering, no power whatsoever. I was pulling on the steering wheel to get the truck off the freeway and out of the way. Fast forward around 70k miles, all the while I could deal with loss of MPG after engine replacement. No problems. Then came the recall and reflashing of the firm/software and a few months later I was making an u-turn when all a sudden the engine made a loud bang and bad tapping noise came from the engine. I could barely make it to the dealership where I bought the truck maybe 2 miles from where it happened. The dealership service center had the truck for a week then told me to come pick it up there is nothing they could do under warranty. All valve lifters except #3 are blown. GMC says the engine is not under warranty and I must pay $17k for a new engine.

Recall n242490120 was corrected on 6/10/25. Grill has since blown off while driving ,couldn’t retrieve it, and caused a chip on my windshield. Recall was for front grille deflector. Dear Learship that repaired it said they were only authorized once to repair and it would be out of pocket expense to repair again.

This report shows 4 more new attempts to repair the drop in power, bucking, surging, and lurching that my truck has been doing since May 2026, after the L87 Engine replacement. This issue has caused me to come very close to rear ending a few vehicles, including a Deer Park police officer. It has caused me to run through red lights unexpectedly. Transmission failed at about 40 MPH, coasted to the side of the road and wheels locked up. No warning lights even after the failure. GM dealership inspected and confirmed it is the common valve body failure on GM trucks but my truck is not covered on recall. It is sitting at dealer waiting for a decision. No warning, the dealer changed the transmission fluid and filter 4000 miles before.

The engine on my 2022 GMC Sierra seized while driving. There were no warning lights or any other indicators that there was a problem. My vehicle had previously underwent the L87 Recall "fix" of changing the oil cap and using different engine oil.

The chrome grill deflector that was previously fixed under the GM recall (for the same part) broke off and flew into my windshield while driving on the freeway.

However, the recall remedy failed, and the front grille piece flew off the vehicle while driving at an undisclosed speed. Vehicle has been maintained at GM authorized dealership according to manufacturer recommendations. 6.2L recall was performed as recommended by manufacturer at approximately 25k miles. Engine failed at 36000 miles. The failure created a safety situation where vehicle suddenly lost propulsion power on the interstate. GM replaced the engine with a remanufactured engine. Vehicle was out of service for approximately 90 days. My family has lost confidence in the vehicle and unfortunately because of the now known issues with this engine the vehicle has lost significant value, making it nearly impossible to trade the vehicle in for something reliable.

The hood molding flew off my vehicle as I was traveling down the interstate. I did not hit anything, it just randomly flew off of my vehicle. The piece flew off and just barely missed the vehcile behind me. If that would of hit the other vehicle, it would of caused damage to their vehicle, and potentially could of caused an accident. The piece that fell off was the trim piece that is diretly below the hood latch and above the front grille. There was no incidcators that this was going to happen. I see there was a recall on the same model and year vehicle as mine but for chrome grilles. The recall # is 25V-060.

While driving down the street pulling a trailer the engine stopped. I was able to get it to the side of the road. I called the GMC dealer and they dispatched a wrecker. No prior warnings, just a check engine light right before it failed and lost momentum. This is the second of three new trucks from GMC with engine failure, 1st was lifters, and the other two were bearing locked up. All maintenance was performed by the Dealership on all three trucks

At around 1,500 miles the truck reduced power. I was able to drive it to the dealership. The dealership reported the lifters had failed and it would be 5-6 months to repair because of the parts shortage.

The contact purchased and installed a new battery; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, where it was diagnosed that a corroded ground strap had caused an electrical short to the battery. I am filing this complaint regarding a potentially serious safety defect involving my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali four-wheel-drive with the V8 5.3 engine. The vehicle had approximately 28,786 miles at the time of the incident. While traveling on an interstate highway in heavy traffic, my truck suddenly lost engine power. I was extremely fortunate that I was able to maneuver through traffic and get the vehicle onto the shoulder without being struck by another vehicle. A sudden loss of engine power under these conditions could easily have resulted in a serious or fatal collision. Immediately follow the incident Onstar detected diagnostic trouble code P129F The vehicle was subsequently taken to an authorized GM dealership. The dealership diagnosed the problem and replaced the fuel pump power control module to repair the vehicle. I have since learned that General Motors issued service bulletin 24 –NA-139 concerning this condition. The bulletin specifically includes 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles and identifies loss of power stalling and DTC P129F among the possible symptoms. GM states the condition may be caused by an internal short in the K111 fuel pump driver control module/fuel pump, power control module. I am particularly concerned that GM has been aware of this potential failure condition since at least 2024. I was driving today with product resting on the tailgate and the tailgate dropped while turning a corner, spilling product on the street. It was a residential street, thankfully, but it has happened on the highway. Previously, I had bikes resting on the tailgate and the same thing happen. Tailgate will randomly drop while driving, especially with a little weight resting on it. I close it completely, but doesn't seem to matter. It has become a concern and safety issue.

I purchased said vehicle with a little over 76,000 miles on XXX from NW Chevrolet, [XXX]. Dealership service the engine on XXX and remained on their lot until it was sold. While driving home, I smelled gas fumes coming into the cabin and the engine was misfiring causing slight hesitation in motor acceleration while adjusting to speed limits and climbing hills. I told management at the dealership about these issues on XXX. My vehicle is currently in the shop to fix the fuel injection system, spark plugs, grounding issues as of XXX to fix the dealerships mistake costing more out of pocket expense. Management will not do anything about it because it was sold (As Is) without a warranty which I refused to purchase through finance and interest charges on a car loan. I purchased a 4-year warranty through Endurance on XXX with a 30 day wait period before filing a claim. GM is letting their dealerships advertise and sell problem vehicles with known motor issues to consumers while marking up the sale price. After numerous attempts getting GM to finally look at why my vehicle because after the L87 engine swap, which failed after the Pico test and oil, oil filter, and oil cap change my truck has been dangerous to drive. It falls on its face when taking off or driving. It acts as if something is holding the truck back. It takes more throttle to get it moving. Then in traffic while moving it randomly lunges forward very quickly as if I have the gas pedal to the floor. I came very close to rear ending a Deer Park police vehicle. They told me to get my own alternate transportation and they would then look at it. I had to go out and get a rental car. I had no choice. I explained due to my HIGH medical bills following a cancer diagnosis, I could not afford a rental and my appointments. They basically told me come see them when i can make my arrangements. So, i rented a car, took the truck in, four days later i was told that the problem was my ADAS camera. I told them it worked fine before yall had it 3 months waiting on an engine. They told me I would have to pay around 1000 dollars to have my truck repaired. Even though it was clearly something they did. I made arrangements to pay them. I picked up my truck. Upper grille flew off on interstate. Hit windshield and landed in median. I have the black grill not covered in the recall.

My 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 was subject to GM safety recall N242490120 / NHTSA 25V060 for an upper grille deflector that could detach from the vehicle. The recall repair was completed by my GM dealership in June 2025. In late August 2026, while driving normally on the highway, the same upper grille deflector detached again in the exact manner described by the recall. There was no collision, impact, or other outside damage that caused the failure. I was able to retain the detached deflector due to my attentiveness however, it was close to detaching and either busting mine or someone else’s windshield. Upon inspection, the adhesive and retainers from the previous recall repair are still clearly visible, and the bonding appears to have separated. I have photographs documenting the failed attachment points and still possess the undamaged detached component for inspection. My GM dealership inspected the vehicle after this failure and determined that the front grille assembly should be replaced. However, because the recall is shown as previously completed, GM has stated that the recall cannot be reopened. GM Customer Assistance offered only $251 toward a $1,673.82 repair, leaving me responsible for $1,422.82 to correct the same safety defect that the recall was intended to remedy. The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the transmission shifted to neutral(N), and the contact was unable to control the vehicle. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road, and the transmission failed shift into park(P), reverse(R), or drive(D). The message "Conditions no Longer Exist for Driving," was displayed on the screen. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the nuts were welded to the engine, causing a failure with the engine overheating. The failure also occurred while driving 65 MPH, and the transmission shifted into neutral with the same message displayed on the screen. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, and it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact stated that the engine was replaced. The dealer informed the manufacturer of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

My 2022 GMC Sierra started hesitating two weeks ago between the speeds of 17-35 mph. It also hesitates going downhill. When I try to accelerate it hesitates causing a serious safety issue for me driving. I cant trust to move when I need to move across a busy intersection with semi tractor trailers coming at me. I can trust it to tow or haul anything anymore. This is well known and documented problem General Motors has and the company deems it "Normal Operations" which is totally not normal.

The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle shut off without warning, and lost power. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for an engine replacement. On another occasion while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle shut off without warning and the wheels locked up. The vehicle was towed to GMC of Rochester (4646 E Frontage Rd, Rochester, MN 55901), where a second engine failure was diagnosed and the vehicle was repaired under an extended warranty. Upon retrieving the vehicle, the vehicle was hesitating while depressing the accelerator pedal, with the messages "Reduced Engine Power" and "Check Engine" displayed. While attempting to reverse(R) into a driveway, the vehicle became immobile. The vehicle was towed to Red Wing Chevrolet (2500 US-61, Red Wing, MN 55066), and the technician diagnosed the vehicle with total transmission failure. The contact was informed that there was heavy metal debris inside the transmission pan. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to assist. The vehicle remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was 12,000.

The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); the vehicle was inspected, and the engine oil was replaced with a higher viscosity oil. The contact stated that later while operating the vehicle, the engine was knocking, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer to be diagnosed. On August 22, 2026, while driving my 2022 GMC Sierra westbound on State Route 84 at highway speed, with strong westerly winds of approximately 35 knots, the front passenger-side wheel-opening molding/fender flare completely detached from the vehicle without warning. The detached molding struck the passenger-side exterior mirror and narrowly missed a motorcyclist traveling behind me. This created a serious safety risk because a substantial exterior component became a projectile at highway speed and could have struck the motorcyclist or another vehicle. There were no warning lights, messages, unusual noises, or other symptoms before the failure, and there was no known collision or impact preceding the incident. I did not initially know what had detached. After arriving home and inspecting the vehicle, I discovered the entire passenger-side front wheel-opening molding was missing. The detached component was not recovered. I reported the incident to my GMC dealer, which performs my regular service and warranty work. The vehicle was inspected on August 31, 2026. The dealer declined warranty coverage but, to my knowledge, did not determine why the component detached. Afterward, I inspected the corresponding driver's-side molding and found a substantial visible gap at its leading edge between the molding and vehicle body. I just had to put my 4th engine in my 22 Sierra at4 with the 6.2 V8. I currently have 103k miles

Truck died while driving on a major highway due to a faulty fuel pump module. The vehicle was blocking an intersection. The vehicle could not be put into neutral without the engine running because of the electronic transmission. Could not move the vehicle out of the intersection and out of traffic. I found out later that to put the truck in neutral requires a special tool, and going under the truck to engage the bypass, which is very difficult and unsafe on a major roadway.

I bought this truck from a dealer at the end of july 2026 and it only had 27k miles on it. I got the carfax and saw all the times of service and checked that this truck was inspected and went to the new oil type, filter and cap. It also was showing it had the special warranty due to recall. So i assumed everything was good to go and the truck was relaicle. Not even 18 days later and less than 800 miles I broke down mid drive. I was traveling at 45 mph and lost all power and almost caused an accident trying to get over and parked safely. There was no warning light or indication of it breaking down or having a mechanical issue. It went to the dealer and they diagnosed it as complete engine failure due the issue GM is having currently. They did order a new motor and it took two weeks to get in but they are in the process of the engine swap as we speak. I am sure i will get more details this week....but I am concerned now amd honestly wish I wouldnt have bought this truck considering I am seeing reports of new motor swaps having catastrophic engine failure two or three times. So at this point im in limbo waiting for the new install and hopefully it doesnt fail again

My truck has the same issues for the transmission and engine problems I have taken it to 4 dealerships and they all say the same thing. The first one I spent about 3 hours there and they changed the 20 oil to the 40 oil and said that will fix the issues but it hasn't i called GMC to report this and they sent me to the others but they said it's been looked at and I know one of them didn't do anything to see the issue.Gmc called the other day and I told them I will let the engine locked up or the transmission keep doing the same thing and they'll have to fix the issue then.I do have 109000 miles on it but thus issue has been going on for 4 years they said I have 150000 miles for the issue but I do t think that is right.I paid them cash money for the truck when I bought it

Early this year the crankshaft seized while driving. The engine was promptly replaced and I carried on my way. Then 7k miles later, the replacement engine that GM sent also blew up and was a total replacement. Hopefully the third engine lasts longer.

The lifters stuck and it ruined the cam shaft. This was repaired and then when driving home, the engine seized and started smoking. The engine was then diagnosed with complete failure and it had to be replaced. The engine had been upgraded a year or two earlier to the 0W-40.

The Dynamic Fuel Management (DFS) is causing damage to lifters, valves, camshafts, and connecting rods. I received a recall notice from GMC on the GMC app, stating "L88" Engine loss of Propulsion or Related field action: Special coverage N252494003. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure. My 22' GMC 1500 has just over 30k miles, and issues are starting with the previously mentioned engine parts. A "pico" test was completed at approx 20k miles. Too early and not enough mileage to show the true damage caused by the "DFM" Dynamic Fuel Management.

Had a prior recall a few months back on my truck in reference to the engine. My truck didn’t have an engine issue such as check engine light etc etc etc which required attention. So they only changed the oil to a different velocity. On Sunday afternoon August 23, 2026 while driving on Interstate 20 near Longview, Texas the truck shut off.
