2020 Jeep Wrangler

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4Xe and 2022-2026 Grand Cherokee 4Xe vehicles. The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.

Risk. A vehicle fire can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures and not to charge their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Dealers will update the high voltage battery software, and replace the high voltage battery, as necessary, free of charge. Some owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 17, 2025. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a later date. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 68C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning November 6, 2025. Vehicles that were previously recalled for the same issue under NHTSA Recalls 24V720 and 23V787 will need to have the new remedy performed.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The wiring harness for the rearview camera and the center brake light may short circuit, which can disable the rearview camera image and center brake light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, "Rear Visibility" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk. A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, a center brake light that fails to illuminate can fail to indicate to other drivers that the vehicle is slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers replaced the harness for the center brake light and rearview camera and/or the spare tire carrier/harness assembly, as necessary, free of charge. All vehicles were repaired by January 15, 2024. Owner notification letters were mailed September 26, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Jeep Gladiator and 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The instrument panel cluster may experience an internal short circuit and fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Controls and Displays."

Risk. An instrument panel that fails to display critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the instrument panel cluster, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed between October 3, 2024, and January 23, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 30B.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. A stud on the frame assembly may puncture the fuel tank in a crash, which can result in a fuel leak.

Risk. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, remove the frame stud and apply paint, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 6, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 28A.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2023 Jeep Wrangler, and 2020-2023 Jeep Gladiator vehicles equipped with manual transmissions. The clutch pressure plate may overheat and fracture.

Risk. Overheated clutch components may increase the risk of a fire. Additionally, damage to other nearby components can result in debris falling onto the road or a loss of drive, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the clutch assembly and update the software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed from November 16, 2023 through July 25, 2024. Owners may contact (FCA US, LLC) customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US LLC's number for this recall is 19A. This recall expands and replaces previous recall 21V-028. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 21V-028 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Jeep Wrangler, Ram 1500, and 2021-2022 Jeep Gladiator vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. The high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) may fail, causing an engine stall.

Risk. An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the HPFP and inspect and replace additional fuel system components, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 17, 2023. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is Z96.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Jeep Wrangler, RAM 1500 and 2021 Jeep Gladiator vehicles. A radio software error may prevent the rearview image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. A rearview camera that does not display an image reduces the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the radio software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 6, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA, LLC's number for this recall is Z86.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Jeep Wrangler vehicles equipped with the 2.0 Liter engine. A cracked fuel supply line connector may leak fuel into the engine compartment.

Risk. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of fire.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel supply line as needed, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 10, 2021. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-140. FCA US LLC's number for this recall is Y10.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Jeep Wrangler and 2020-2021 Jeep Gladiator vehicles equipped with manual transmissions. The clutch pressure plate may overheat and fracture.

Risk. Overheated clutch components may increase the risk of a fire. Additionally, damage to other nearby components can result in debris falling onto the road or a loss of drive, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will add software to reduce engine torque capability when clutch assembly temperatures rise to a level that may damage the inner pressure plate, free of charge." FCA has ordered a stop sale for the affected vehicles as of February 25, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 4, 2021.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Cherokee, 2019-2020 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Renegade and 2019 Dodge Challenger vehicles equipped with 8.4" or 12" radio displays. A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."

Risk. The lingering rearview image can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will update the radio display software, free of charge. Optionally, owners can choose to remotely update their software via an Over-The-Air (OTA) update available as of May 1, 2020. The recall began April 27, 2020. My Jeep Wrangler currently has a very strong fuel smell, and when the AC is on the smell is very strong inside the cabin. My kids and I became Ill and had headaches. It's been parked for two weeks. Pending an inspection by an independent mechanic. We came across an article stating that a lot of 2020 Jeep Wranglers with 2.0L motors were recalled because of the same issue but my Jeep was not recalled and I'm having the same issue. Is there anything you can do to help me?

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH, the instrument panel became inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the instrument panel was blank. After exiting the vehicle, the contact became aware of a burning wire odor coming from underneath the hood. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the instrument panel had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was concerned that the failure made the vehicle unsafe to drive because the contact was unable to determine the speed while driving. The fuel level was not available with the instrument panel inoperable. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the instrument cluster was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with instrument cluster failure; however, the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); because the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact notified the manufacturer of the failure and was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The VIN was unavailable.

When driving down the road, 55mph, I drove across some bumps in the road, and my steering, tires and the front of my Jeep started shaking violently. Couldn't hardly control it. Please help.

At approximately 58,000 miles I discovered that the rear upper coil spring mounts on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Rubicon are separating from the frame. The factory welds attaching the upper coil perches to the frame rails have cracked and torn, and the mounts are no longer securely attached. I found this condition only incidentally, while inspecting the vehicle for a separate ongoing steering issue. The coil mount separation was not what I was looking for, and I would not have found it otherwise. These mounts carry the rear vehicle load. If one separates completely, the coil spring can unseat and the rear of the vehicle can drop on that corner, causing loss of ride height, brake line displacement, and loss of vehicle control. I consider this an imminent safety hazard and I have stopped driving the vehicle. The fracture surfaces are heavily rusted, indicating the welds failed a considerable time before I discovered the condition, most likely years earlier and within the warranty period. The vehicle was taken to Jeep dealers for service and inspection multiple times during that period, and no Jeep inspection ever identified or reported this failure.

Instrument cluster panel stopped working.

The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Absolutely terrible gasoline vapor filling the inside cabin of the vehicle causing burning eyes, nausea and feeing ill. Checked for fuel, leak, leakage recall, while there was one it wasn’t including our VIN, however, after inspection and repair, it is the exact same damage as what was indicated in the recall. Looking for a full refund for repair and compensation for danger, discomfort, safety and inconvenience of vehicle not being included in the original recall. I am appalled and insulted that JEEP dealerships aren’t more more proactive in having to appeal these dangerous situations.

The 2.0L Turbo engine suffers from premature failures. Jeep issued a TSB over leaking around the water pump, but did not notify owners. My engine overheated due to low coolant (there's no low coolant warning), and the temperature gauge proves to be unreliable. My engine suffered a head gasket failure due to overheating, while within the factory warranty period, and Jeep would not honor their warranty. My Jeep only has 33,700 miles on it, and the failure initially happened in 2024. I spent over a year going back and forth with Jeep, and in the end, they simply stopped responding. BTW, tried to upload 2 small .JPG files, but repeatedly said "upload failed".

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. While the contact’s daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine temperature gauge became extremely elevated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was discovered that the coolant reservoir was empty and no leak was found. The coolant reservoir was refilled, and the vehicle operated normally. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

While driving on the highway, the check engine light illuminated. Approximately 5 to 10 minutes later, the battery warning light came on. Upon exiting the highway and coming to a stop at an intersection, the automatic engine Start/Stop system engaged and shut down the engine. When attempting to safely proceed, the vehicle suffered a complete electrical failure due to the 48V mild-hybrid eTorque system failing to restart the engine. The vehicle refused to crank, would not shift, and became entirely disabled and stranded in the middle of a live intersection, creating an extreme safety and collision hazard. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealership, where technicians officially confirmed the failure. The dealer diagnosed the root cause as an internal electrical failure of the Motor Generator Unit (MGU / Belt-Driven Hybrid Starter Generator Assembly), which completely disabled the vehicle's charging and hybrid restart capabilities. The failed component is available for inspection.

These new Jeep Wrangles came from the factory with an aluminum steering box and Jeep has made 8 new steering boxes to try to fix the "wondering" steering issue but has not made any recalls. This is a safety issue because while driving down the road if you hit the smallest of bumps the Jeep will be sent into oncoming traffic in cases. They are impossible to drive on little 2 lane roads that has a lot of semi traffic as the semis naturally put low spots on the edge of the road and cause the Jeep to jolt to the right if you don't have death grip on the steering wheel. Something needs to be done to keep Jeep accountable for yet again putting these Wrangles on the road with steering issues.

While driving, the Instrument Cluster Display completely blanked out and ceased functioning. This sudden failure immediately disabled the digital speedometer, fuel gauge, engine temperature readings, oil gauge, and critical safety warning lights. In order to check my fuel levels, I have to log into an app on my phone, which is both unsafe and illegal to do while driving. The panel beeps a warning when I start my car, however I cannot see what the issue is because the display is black. Other 2020 Jeep Wranglers share this identical, well-documented cluster failure and are covered under an active recall. However, my specific VIN is currently excluded despite suffering from the exact same manufacturing defect. This issue presents an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety and requires immediate investigation to expand the recall scope.

Transmission pops out of second gear after downshifting from third. This has left me stranded in the middle of an intersection in front of oncoming traffic at least five times while struggling to get the vehicle back into second gear. This is a widely reported problem with the 2020 JL model that dealers are attempting to write-off as a transmission failsafe to avoid repairing.

No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was initially diagnosed that the auxiliary battery needed to be replaced; upon further inspection, the dealer discovered that the vehicle was equipped with a mild hybrid battery and that the battery needed to be replaced. The speedometer operated as needed, but the fuel gauge and temperature gauge were inoperable, and the mileage display was not visible. The mechanic referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); as a possible cause for the failure. However, after contacting the dealer, it was discovered that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 77,000.

On July 1,2026 , My 2020 Jeep wrangler jl sport died in the middle of traffic causing a safety issue. I was not able to start my jeep and move out of traffic. I was able to disable the transmission and roll out of the road. But it was very dangerous while cars were passing me and coming towards me. Also before I was able to disable to roll my steering column was locked. The cause of this safety issue is the set up of the batteries. A jeep has 2 batteries a main and underneath an auxillary battery. Without any kind of warning your battery can die caused by the drain of the auxillary battery on the main battery causing the main battery to just stop working without notice. This is the 2nd time this happened.I had to call a tow truck both times. 1st time 4/14/24, then on 07/02/2026 I had it towed to the same dealership as the time before. This is an on going issue with jeeps that have the 2 batteries. Not only is it unsafe but a costly issue.

Had no warning messages or alerts. The Instrument Cluster Display Screen went black. We have no way of knowing the amount of gas, speed, mileage, tire pressure or any other alerts. I believe this to be a safety issue. Have replaced both the main and auxiliary battery. There are many 2020 Jeep Wranglers that are recalled for this very issue. Wondering why mine is not.

Failed emission test and the car is 6 years old. I have had this car in for the death wobble and told them the engine fan stays on. It has done this for years. Dealer kept stating it just had to cool off. The Jeep vehicles that have the deal wobble should be recalled very dangerous. I have videos I can submit.
