2012 Ford F-350

Defect. PJ's Truck Bodies & Equipment Co., (PJ's) is recalling certain 2009-2013 Ford F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty chassis modified by PJ's and equipped with certain Muncie Power Products PTO Assemblies. In the affected vehicles, oil may leak from the PTO pressure switch onto a thermal blanket covering the exhaust.

Risk. The leaking oil may soak into the thermal blanket covering the exhaust, which when combined with heat from exhaust, may result in an increased risk of fire.

Remedy. PJ's has notified owners and dealers will install a new pressure switch kit that moves the switch away from the exhaust system, free of charge. The recall began on August 28, 2014. Owners may contact PJ's customer service at 1-866-475-8782.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 F-350/450/550 Ambulance Package vehicles manufactured February 22, 2010, through October 19, 2012 and equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine. Due to an exhaust sensor problem, the vehicles may experience loss of power followed by an engine stall.

Risk. An unexpected engine stall increases the risk of a crash. Additionally, if this were to occur when the ambulance is transporting a patient, there is an increased risk of injury to the patient.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the exhaust gas temperature sensor, free of charge. The recall began on November 25, 2013. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's recall campaign number is 13S10.

Defect. Manning Equipment Inc. LLC (Manning) is recalling certain model year 2012 Ford F-350, F-450 and F-550 gasoline engined dual rear wheel chassis vehicles manufactured October 2011 through June 2012. The tailpipe on the exhaust system does not extend out beyond the edge of the body, allowing heat to build up in rear curbside storage compartment.

Risk. Excessive heat build up in rear compartment could result in fire.

Remedy. Manning Equipment has notified owners, and dealers will install tailpipe extensions free of charge. The recall has already begun. Owners may contact Manning Equipment at 1-502-426-5210.

Defect. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NUMBER 114, “THEFT PROTECTION.” THE TRANSMISSION CAN BE SHIFTED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION WITHOUT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL DUE TO BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK SWITCH PROBLEM.

Risk. THIS WILL ALLOW THE OPERATOR TO INADVERTENTLY SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO GEAR WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH OR INJURY TO A NEARBY PEDESTRIAN.

Remedy. FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK SWITCH FUNCTION AND REPLACE THE SWITCH IF NECESSARY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 22, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AT 1-866-436-7332.

Death wobble

Bosch CP4 High Pressure Fuel Pump failed in transit cost $10,713 to repair only 155k miles on new engine. Diesel fuel spilled from engine on highway, lucky no fire. Ford no help.

Additionally, the vehicle had experienced the death wobble. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the front track bar fracture caused the rear axle to be pushed into the fuel cooler, which caused the fuel cooler to be punctured and to leak. The contact was informed that the front track bar and the fuel cooler needed to be replaced, and a coolant flush needed to be performed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 300,000.

I'm currently experiencing the "Death Wobble" with my vehicle, making it unsafe to drive past 60 mph due to intense shaking. This is a serious safety concern for both me and my family. This issue happens frequently on the freeway, and we all fear that the wheels could fall off or the vehicle might flip over. When I took the vehicle to the service center, the advisor told me I needed to add a stabilizer to my front wheels and suggested that I buy the part online and install it myself, recommending YouTube for guidance. However, I have no idea what part to buy or where to get it. I’m not the designer of the truck, and I shouldn’t have to add extra parts for it to drive properly. I also believe this is a manufacturer issue, especially since multiple people seem to be experiencing the same problem.

Truck has a random death wabble and differnt speeds. I've taken the truck to three differnt ford dealers multiple times and they alll can't find any worn parts, the dealers all with say ford knows there is a saftey issue with the trucks but don't have a real fix for the issue. several other ford owners have the same issues

Death whoble

2012 F350 Lariat 4x4, 125000 miles. While driving at 65 mph. I hit a spilt in the highway and the truck went into a death wobble, the most violent and scary thing to experience on the crowded highway. Only thing I could do was let it slow down coasting when it finally went away I accelerated back to highway speed and hit yet another bump in the highway and it went into another death wobble so violent I could not control the truck. This truck has no lift and is stock. This will kill someone one day or cause a serious accident. Ford should own this defect and fix it before they responsible for actual death.

I was on the road and I hit a bump on the freeway only going between 55 and 65 mph and the Truck immediately started to whobble out of control I almost hit the car next to me because I could not control it . It was a life and death experience I could never shake off . I spoke to the dealer and they claimed they had never heard of such thing and acted like they didn’t believe me. What ever is wrong with it needs to be recalled because I’m surprised that no one was hurt on rush our in a busy city like Salt Lake City. Ford is being very irresponsible for not fixing the problem.

We have a 2012 Ford F30 Diesel and We are having issues with one of the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensors (Bank 1 Sensor 3) which would have been covered under Ford's Recall Campaign# 15M02. However, since our vehicle is 11 years and 9 mo old, they are declining coverage as the campaign is limited to 11 years.

Twice in the last 60 days while driving on the Interstate, once at 75mph and this last time at 60mph my Ford F350 has gone into violent shaking, so much so that I was barely able to contain it. I was able to force it off the road and come to a stop. I had to sit there for several minutes then decided to drive slowly to the off ramp. I was able to drive without any wobble and get off the interstate. I took it the first time to Lynn Wood Automotive in Layton, they kept it for several days and found nothing. The second time I took it to Ed Kennely Ford Service. A few of the service writers gathered around as I explained what happened then were nodding there heads and smiling indicating that they had seen is happen several times. I made an appointment next week on July 11th 7:30 am. This was a very dangerous situation and one that I feel very lucky to have gotten it off the road. THis should be a definite RECALL as lives are being put to risk.

Additionally, the contact noticed a clinging sound coming from the engine compartment. The upper oil pan is leaking and getting worse. Seems to be happening on all 6.7 motors.

Summary: We purchased a brand new 60000 dollar truck in 2012 or 2013 and was assured by the dealer that it had a warranty to cover any issues until either 100,000 miles or 5-6 years, whichever came first. After 4 years of ownership and around 67,000 miles, the truck started experiencing problems with a high idle and then abruptly shutting off. When taken to the dealer, they couldn't replicate the issues during a brief evaluation. However, a week later, while on the way to the bank, to get cash out for are stay at the hospital to give birth to are 6th child the truck shut off and wouldn't start again. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty high-pressure fuel pump due to water in the fuel and tried to charge the author $15,000 for repairs. The author questioned why the diesel fuel water separator and the second fuel filter system on the truck didn't catch the issue earlier and criticized the dealer for their negligence in ensuring safe and reliable transportation.

When driving at speeds above 55 miles per hour the pickup will develop a violent vibration commonly known as the death wobble most commonly happening when hitting a dip in the road or a bump. When this happens myself, passengers and other motorists are put at risk of a deadly accident. Most recently it happened doing 75 mph on the freeway, we were almost struck by others trying to stop the pickup and this happened three different times during a trip trying to make it home. I have taken the pickup to the Ford dealership with no solution or long-term fix to the problem for the last 4 years. I have been told that they see nothing wrong with it. I have also taken it too two different tire shops with no long-term solution. I have spent thousands of dollars to try and find a solution by replacing parts, tires twice and replacing the wheels and nothing has worked.

WE own a 2012 Ford F350 and have had two bad incidents with the dreaded “death wobble” and are afraid to even drive it because the truck now seems unsafe as it feels unsturdy as if it is starting to wobble and I don't dare even taking it on the freeway. My daughter had told me that the truck began shaking violently on her while on the freeway and I didn't fully understand what she meant until it happened to me. I was traveling on the freeway in cruise control, going the speed limit of 80 mph. Suddenly the truck began to shake violently. The whole front end, the steering wheel, my arms, my body, etc. were all shaking violently. I hit the brakes. I screamed and was terrified. I thought a tire had blown out or something and was sure I was going to wreck. Upon stopping, I just sat there for a moment in disbelief, trying to catch my breath. I am fortunate that no one hit me as I was halfway in the right lane of traffic. I got out expecting to see some kind of damage but saw none. I slowly drove to the first off ramp and gingerly drove home. Holding onto the steering wheel had left my arms feeling bruised and my mental being shaken. I was telling someone about what happened and he said "Oh, that is called a "Death Wobble" and he told me that Ford Super Duty F250s and F350s were known to have this problem. I went home a went on Google to educate myself about this "Death Wobble" and was so angry that Ford has done nothing to correct this problem or have a recall. I feel very lucky to

Exhaust manifold stud broke causing leak in exhaust manifold. See NHTSA Notice SSM 50330 for a full description of the problem. This notice covered ALL Super Duty pickups from the F250 through the F550 from 2011 through 2014. Ford also noted the problem in a Customer Satisfaction Program letter, #17M05, dated 5 December 2017 but it was limited to the F450 and F550 models. My vehicle is an F350 ... Nevertheless, these models all use the SAME 6.7L diesel engine and would have the potential for the same issue. I have contacted Ford HQ about this. Theystate I must go through NHTSA at this point. My Ford Case File Number is CAS44584909. It may be just me, but I consider an exhaust leak under the hood to be a life-safety issue due to the potential for exhaust gases, especially CO, to leak into the cab of the vehicle. I didn't know what the issue was in July, but I had it inspected and repaired at my Ford dealer when I got home in August. That is when I discovered the extent of the situation. $40.12 of the attached invoice is for routine maintenance ... The balance is for the repairs necessary for the exhaust manifold leak. ($3,750.53)

July 10 2023, driving on highway in my 2012 Ford F-350 super duty going 50-55 mph front passenger tire hit small bump in road causing vehicle to “death wobble”. Vehicle violently pulled to the left. Luckily there was not a vehicle in that lane otherwise an accident would have ensued. Steering wheel was shaking uncontrollably and I had no control of vehicle until I slowed down to 25 mph. I delivered truck to the Ford dealer on July 11, 2023 explaining my experience. Technician was also able to reproduce the “death wobble” problem and repairs were made at my expense. A year prior to this episode I had noticed a slight wobble in steering but not to this extent. I voiced my concern to the Ford dealer and they had replaced a few ball joints. There has not been any indication of steering issues up to my incident in July 2023. I would like this report to serve as a record as I feel this problem may arise again in the future. My understanding Ford has had issues with “death wobble”in their super duty trucks dating from 2005-2019. A recall should be issued from the manufacture regarding the unsafe and poorly engineered front end and steering components.

Bcm body control module is faulty so far my brights no longer work my fog lights no longer work and my left rear turn signal no longer works it is slowly getting worse taking out more and more components on the truck part is backorder with over 2070 of them requested threw ford with no update on when the part will be available

While driving at speed higher than 60 miles, when hit a small road bump or imperfection, front wheels start to wobble uncontrollably, up to a point where steering becomes impossible to steer, making it very hard to control the vehicle. This is a life threatening event! As far as I know it is a problem that happens a lot on this particular model.

Encountered violent shaking of whole truck traveling on I95. Transitioned from a bridge to road surface and the whole vehicle began to violently shake - Loosing all control of steering & braking. Released gas pedal and slowed to shoulder. Was informed later this is a known issue with all Ford Superduty trucks with solid front axle.

While driving at highway speeds (over 55mph) if you hit a bump in the road, the truck shakes uncontrollably and will not stop until the vehicle is slowed down significantly. I have had the steering dampner replaced and replaced the tires and shocks and still hasn't fixed the problem. This has happened numerous times in the vehicle!!

I purchased my F350 new in 2012. Since that time I have experienced a severe wobble in the front end while I am driving. It starts vibrating at about 45mph and sometimes escalates to where I have to almost slam on the brakes to stop it. It has done this probably 12-15 times and since 2022 it is definitely getting worse and worse. Ford says its my motor mounts, but it has done this since it was new! I read about the "death wobble" on the internet and I definitely have a defective front end. I am concerned that it may cause me to be in a bad accident after having to hit the brakes so hard to stop it. Can you assist?

Death wobble. The steering wobbles back and forth. I have owner the vehicle for 4 years and had to have it fixed 3 times. This is extremely dangerous. Glad my wife was not driving when it has happened.

STERRING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH, AS WHEEL AS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHAKING. AFTER CHECKING ON LINE FOEND THE TERM "DEATH WOBBLE" ASSOCIATED WITH THESE SYMPTOMS. i WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR ON A PAVED HIGHWAY. THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO STOP VIOLENT SHAKING / WOBBLE WAS TO SLOW ALMOST TO A STOP. VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 77,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALER AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT CHECKOUT AND REPAIRED. APPOINTMENT IS SCHEDULED FOR NOV. 22, 2022.

When the truck is traveling at highway speeds and goes over an imperfection in the road surface like a bump, bridge expansion joint etc... The truck will vibrate violently and will not stop until the speed is reduced often times under 50 mph which can be dangerous on a highway. This has been happening for the past year and a half. I have tried brining it to multiple mechanics and have replaced a number of parts.

On a Clear day, no rain while traveling on an interstate hwy at approx 70mph, I drove onto a bridge and my truck starting violently shaking , the complete front end was causing the truck to move from side to side and I could hardly hold onto the steering wheel! My wife was was so afraid we were going to roll over, as was I! Finally after taking my foot off of the gas, at about 30 or 40 mph it stopped! I'm taking it to my dealership first thing in the morning! Its not safe to drive, as I might not be so lucky next time it happens. I'm finished with ford trucks that's for sure!!!!

While traveling on the highway at 70~75 mph the vehicle went over a small highway joint. This caused the truck to shake violently with little to no control. Only after dropping speeds less than 45mph did the violent shaking stop. The sudden slow down in the middle of the highway, the violent shaking and the lack of steering control was extremely dangerous and caused an immediate life safety issue to myself , my family and other vehicles and motorists near mine. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic. The tires have been balanced and rotated are not worn. The shocks on all four tires were replaced. The steering stabilizer shock was replaced and joints inspected. The problem persists and only is replicable during highway speeds. The event comes without any warning and the vehicle is uncontrollable.

The dealer inspected the suspension and diagnosed that no issues were found. However, the dealer advised the contact that the tires needed to be replaced as they were worn on the inside. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

I was driving on the pa turnpike going 65 miles a hour and with a second the pull over safely light came on I was able to slow down and the truck died. We were able to get ourselves to safety by pushing the truck. Hours later the truck started up and we were able to get it home, The tow truck never showed up. Put truck in shop they didn't see that problem at first, we are again driving truck this time on a major highway not a toll road and same thing happened again it cooled down we were able to get it home, and back on our way to drop off to mechanic it happens again let it cool off for a hour and we were able to drop it off, They ran diagonstic test and it says two of the four are bad so right away I start looking for recalls and I see one for the issue So I looked up to see if there was anybody else with this issue and it seems to be the 2 of the exhaust sensors but unfortunatly the recall for the problem expired before we bought the truck and extended coverage is only within 120,000 miles or 11 years. Now ford doesn't see how this is a safety issue so they will not pay for it but if you look at the recalls for this year of truck it says that ambulances with this motor are covered under recall because why if they they have a patient and this happens they can be sued. Now my question is what about if this happen and my child was in the car thats ok because they are my children. This is a safety hazard for my husband and anyone else on the road with him as well as other veic

CP4 high pressure fuel pump catastrophic failure. My fuel pump grenades and I lost all power on a busy road. I was able to use momentum after the loss of power to safely exit the roadway. I had no warning lamps prior to failure my vehicle will not start now and is currently at a shop being investigated.

“Death Wobble” vehicle shakes uncontrollably when hitting bumps/grooves in pavement or going at speeds above 50 mph putting driver at extreme risks. Repaired steering dampener, shocks, and tires, but nothing has offered a solution to the issue.

My truck shakes violently at 40-45 mph. It has difficult to diagnose the exact component to replace. I took the truck to a independent repair service and they told me it was the death wobble. They did drive the vehicle and confirmed the shaking. It will cause me to pay over 1000.00 dollars to fix. Not to mention the tires that have been ruined because of it. No police or anyone else has inspeced it. No warniing lamps or messages present.

Death wobble, Fixed in 2021, and 2019 now I have to get it fixed again

The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving at 55-60 MPH on cruise control, the vehicle hit a bump and started shuddering uncontrollably, causing the steering wheel to shudder as well. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that as he was losing control of the vehicle, he depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle stopped shuddering. The contact veered to the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The contact stated that the vehicle was not yet diagnosed; however, the dealer replaced the steering bar. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving at 50-65 MPH, and sometimes at slower speeds. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

On 10/29/2021 when driving I had the death wobble happen at 65 mph. Steer was shaking violently causing me to hit the ditch with no damage to my truck but really scared my wife and I. I am going to have most if not all the front end parts replaced at approximate cost of $2500.00. This is a Ford problem that they should pay for.

The contact pulled the vehicle off to the shoulder and coasted the vehicle until the rattling stopped and the vehicle resumed normal operation. The dealer and the manufacturer were both notified of the failure and neither offered any assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 223,000

I believe this is now the 3rd occurrence for me within the last two weeks of what has been termed by other owners as the "death wobble". Two incidents have occurred on "bumpy" roads, though one was just a bumpy interstate. The interstate, while a bumpy, I wouldn't imagine would have been bumpy enough to constitute a poor road condition, travel conditions were pulling about 12,000 lb 5th wheel camper and I was going probably between 55-60mph. The next two occurrences happened truck only. The second occurrence, was a back road and probably the "bumpiest" road of them all, probably going 45-50 mph, so not so bumpy that I had to be going super slow. The third occurrence was on a smooth road and I did hit a "bump" which probably wasn't much more than a crack in the road traveling at probably 50-60 mph. I experienced the wobble. Each time, it has been scarier than the last and it required me to slow down significantly, while I dont know the exact amount, many people describing under 20 mph feels about right, however, the 3rd occurrence required a complete stop before the shaking int he steering wheel was gone. I have completed a number of checks, tire tread is still good, the balance feels appropriate at highway speeds. I think my biggest concern here, is that this is a common issue and there appears to be no common reasons or even a short list of probably causes based on my doling around the internet. I am sure I am about to spend several thousand for mechanics to attempt solution
