2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Defect. Tenneco Automotive (Tenneco) is recalling certain Beck/Arnley Master Cylinders, part number 072-9831, sold as aftermarket or replacement parts for 2004-2018 Volkswagen Jetta, and 2012-2019 Volkswagen Beetle vehicles. The fluid seal crimp on the master cylinder may be insufficient, causing brake fluid to leak or the cylinder to come apart.

Risk. If there is a brake fluid leak, it can reduce braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Beck/Arnley will notify the distributors that sold the master cylinders and will work with the distributors to notify the end users. Affected master cylinders will be exchanged for a new master cylinder (part number 072-9990), free of charge. The recall began October 30, 2020. Owners may contact Tenneco customer service at 1-800-625-9319.

Defect. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 Volkswagen Jetta A5 Sedan, 2009 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen, Eos, GTI, Rabbit and Audi A3 vehicles, and 2010 Volkswagen Golf A6 vehicles. The Antilock Brake System (ABS) control unit may fail during ABS or Electronic Stability Control (ESC) activation, possibly causing a loss of vehicle control.

Risk. A loss of vehicle control can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will update the ABS control module software to improve the module's self-testing abilities. Any module that fails the new diagnostic test will be replaced. These repairs will be made free of charge. The recall began February 2017. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298.

THE FUEL INJECTION PULSES COULD COINCIDE WITH THE NATURAL FREQUENCY OF THE INJECTOR LINE #2, IN SPECIFIC LOAD AND RPM CONDITIONS. THIS RESONANCE CREATES ADDITIONAL STRESS IN THE FUEL LINE.

Risk. DUE TO THE RESONANCE CONDITION, INJECTOR LINE NUMBER 2 COULD DEVELOP SMALL CRACKS WHICH COULD LEAD TO FUEL LEAKAGE. LEAKING FUEL IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, MAY LEAD TO A FIRE.

Remedy. VOLKSWAGEN WILL INSTALL AN IMPROVED FUEL INJECTOR LINE FOR THE NUMBER 2 CYLINDER ON CERTAIN VEHICLES AND WILL INSTALL VIBRATION DAMPERS ON ALL OF THE INJECTOR LINES. VOLKSWAGEN AND AUDI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS TO HAVE THE VEHICLES REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING NOVEMBER 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLKSWAGEN AT 1-800-822-8987.

THE NEW BEETLE AND THE NEW BEETLE CONVERTIBLE VEHICLES MAY HAVE A FASTENING CLAMP ON A HYDRAULIC HOSE OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM THAT MAY BE LOCATED IN AN IMPROPER POSITION WHICH COULD CAUSE CHAFING AGAINST AN UNDERHOOD FUEL SUPPLY LINE.

Risk. IF CHAFING OCCURS, THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A FUEL LEAK TO DEVELOP. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND IF NECESSARY REPLACE THE UNDERHOOD FUEL LINE. ADDITIONALLY, DEPENDING ON THE VEHICLE MODEL, DEALERS WILL EITHER REMOVE THE PLASTIC TAB FROM THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID RESERVOIR, OR INSPECT THE POSITION OF THE FASTENING CLAMP AND ADJUST THE RELATED FASTENING CLAMP INTO THE CORRECT POSITION. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE JANUARY 31, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLKSWAGEN AT 1-800-822-8987.

WITH INSUFFICIENTLY CRIMPED CONNECTOR WIRES, A TEMPERATURE SENSOR HAS THE POTENTIAL TO FALSELY DETECT A HIGH GEARBOX OIL TEMPERATURE, CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO ABRUPTLY SHIFT TO NEUTRAL. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE SELECTOR LEVER POSITION INDICATOR WITHIN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WILL FLASH. IN ADDITION, THE "DEPRESS BRAKE PEDAL" INDICATOR LIGHT WILL BE ILLUMINATED, ALERTING THE DRIVER TO APPLY THE BRAKES.

Risk. THE ABRUPT SHIFT TO NEUTRAL COULD LEAD TO A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

When you turn on the vehicle, the abs and traction light illuminates. The light that says "BRAKE" also illuminates and the vehicle beeps 3 times. When driving the vehicle, the red light "BRAKE" flashes constantly, while the ABS and traction control light remains illuminated but no flashes. The dealership says it's a fault ABS module and Hydraulic Pump Assembly. I researched and found a Volkswagen safety recall code: 45F2 (published March 17, 2017) that seems very applicable to my vehicle. Safety concerns include but are not limited to the following: loss of vehicle control, failure to brake properly, auto engagement of brakes not by the driver, etc. All safety concerns may cause my life or the life of another individual.

Every time it rains, water comes down im assuming from my sunroof, ive cleaned the drains multiple times, it doesnt make a differenc, the water goes through my fuse box on the driver side fuse box inside the car like a white water rapid and collects in the floorboard. It blows all of my fuses, it also blows out my headlights, brake lights, and turn signals. Not to mention the mold that must be growing in the car from all the water. I tried contacting volkswagen but they wont do anything.. eventhough ive spent who knows how much money replacing all those bulbs and fuses. Plus the damprid containers ive bought to help dry everything up, and the cleaners, the air freshners, the cost of vacuuming all that water up.. also my doors wont lock, i cant control anything in the car with the drivers side controls, cant open my trunk with the switch by the drivers seat. This has changed my whole opinion of volkswagen vehicles.. i used to think they were really good cars, not anymore!

2010 Jetta, manual transmission Key gets stuck in ignition and wont cut car off. Eventually got key out, ignition locked wont let key turn car on. This is a known vw issue with over 860 complaints on this exact issue between 2009-2013. VW refuses to do recall, even though this is a manufacturing parts issue.

"Key gets stuck in ignition and I cannot turn off the engine."

On certain vehicles, a fault within the antilock brake system (ABS) may cause the module to fail during ABS and/or electronic stability control (ESC) activation. This will cause warning lights for ABS, brake and the ESC systems to illuminate. If this happens, the brake system related vehicle stabilizing functions (ABS/ESC) may not be available, increasing the risk of a loss of vehicle control and could lead to a crash causing injury and/or property damage

Hit head on by train and air bags did not deploy.

After a hard braking situation, the ABS, Traction Control, and Brake warning lights activated. A computer scan by the dealer indicated the ABS system failed and needs replacement (computer printout and repair estimate attached). There is a recall (16V-913) for the identical issue for the same year/make/model of my vehicle; however, the date of production is different.

Received an ABS Break light flashing on my dash board. Went to the Valley Volkswagen dealer in Staunton, VA and confirmed the ABS Module needs to be replaced. This is the same part that was on Volkswagen recall 45F2/45F5 ABS and stability control becomes inoperative. With a warning A loss of vehicle control can increase the risk of a crash. Car spontaneously caught fire while driving

Abs and stability control became inoperative at around 50mph. It's a 55mph road thats heavily trafficked since its near a port. I had to stop the car on the side of the road since we almost crashed into an 18 wheeler. Fortunately we were close to home I drove the car at a reasonable speed just to get home. After that incident we have stopped using this vehicle since it gets even more dangerous every time, especially when it rains. Since then brake light has come on and hydraulic and suspension has been bad. This happened last year when pandemic was still full force and without a vehicle. Had to save and buy a more reliable vehicle for our own safety. I know this is a really good car but i really hope y’all can help me fix this since it’s really not the consumer’s fault. I’ve checked there is a recall for this but my “Jetta” is not in those vehicles that were recalled. I really cant drive the vehicle therefore i have no use for it. Please let me know if something could be done since i wouldn’t like to pay out of pocket for something that could be done by the manufacturer and even save our and others life’s in the future when more vehicle owners come forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS module, stabilizer links, and carbon manifold needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. While the owner does not expect VW to pay for the stabilizer links or carbon manifold repairs, they do expect the ABS module to be covered because it was the same faulty module which was in all the other 2009 and 2010 Jettas which were recalled previously. This specific vehicle was, I believe, limited to 1,000 vehicles as it is a limited edition version of the 2010 VW Jetta. It does, however, have the same ABS module as the 2010 Jettas with the open recall. VW Corporate as well as Platinum VW in Hicksville were informed about the recall for 45F2 which recalled the ABS module on most VW Jettas from 2009 to 2010. We were told that our vehicle, for unknown reasons, was not part of that recall. Mind you, this is DESPITE having the same exact failure of the ABS module and Traction Control as the regular 2010 VW Jettas We got the vehicle repaired and had to pay a very large amount of money to replace and repair the module which should have been covered under the recall. We should not be penalized because we have a more limited edition of a vehicle, please help, thank

My ABS system light has been on, but I haven't had the funds to take care of it. I inherited the car after my daughter passed away, so I don't know how long it's been on. I was just told by my mechanic that there was a recall for this very issue. I'm not in a position to pay what they're asking, but it seems like I shouldn't have to since there was a recall for this. I don't know why your website says there are no recalls for my car, but I feel I fall in this category for the ABS recall. I had a woman pull out in front of me and my car's system didn't work

The vehicle ABS module failed back in Nov2020 and was brought to local VW Dealer and diagnosed as bad module. fast forward to Aug 2021 and ABS module failed again and bad wiring was found which is why the first module failed to begin with in my belief. both times when the module failed was after my wife slammed on brakes hard activating the ABS system which in turn caused the warning lights to come on and car go into limp mode. I tried limping the car to the dealership for repair and was almost hit by a large truck coming from behind as I had no response from the accelerator pedal. I am not sure why this particular VIN was never added to the recall list as it fits the criteria as all other vehicles experiencing this issue. we paid $2600 the first time for the repair and are now out more money to have this known problem fixed again !

I was driving 75 miles an hour on a major interstate and the car stopped accelerating while I was driving.(major safety issue) I was able to get to the side of the road and the car died and would not start again. The glow plug warning light started flashing as this was happening. I was able to get it towed to a repair shop or they told me the high-pressure fuel pump failed and that it was a catastrophic failure because there was metal from the pump through the whole fuel line.

When I try to start the car it was giving me a hard time to turn the key in the ignition then when I got it to start I was coming home and I park the car try to stop the car and take the key out the ignition it won't cut off and the key stuck in the ignition while the car still on it wouldn't let me stop or cut off the car and the key wouldn't come out of the ignition

VEHICLE WILL CUT OUT WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR. MULTIPLE PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED OVER THIS TIME. THE INTERNET HAS MANY CASES OF THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE. VW MUST KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM?

I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD WHEN I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER MY HOOD OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER ONTO A SIDE STREET AND POPPED THE HOOD. THE ENGINE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I THEN PULLED MY PANICKED 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER OUT OF HER CAR SEAT AND TOOK HER ACROSS THE STREET. WE THEN CALLED 9-11 AND THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AND FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHERE HE SAYS THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FUEL LINE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL FOR MY CAR BUT IT IS NOT FOR MY VIN# EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE SAME CAUSE AS MY CAR'S FIRE!

ONGOING OCCURRENCE: WHEN I START MY CAR THE SUNROOF TILTS OPEN. I START TO DRIVE AND THE SUNROOF WOULD START RANDOMLY OPEN AND CLOSE WITHOUT ME TOUCHING KNOB TO OPEN SUNROOF. I COULD PUSH ON KNOB AND SUNROOF CLOSES FROM TILT POSITION AND AT TIMES IT WOULD JUST OPEN RIGHT BACK UP. THIS OCCURS DURING DRIVING AND WITHOUT DRIVING WITH CAR IGNITION ON. SEEMS LIKE ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITHIN THE SUNROOF CONTROLLER.

ABS CONTROL MODULE IS DEFECTIVE. I LOSE BRAKING POWER RANDOMLY ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND AIRBAG LIGHTS ARE ON. BRAKE LIGHT WARNING WILL FLASH RANDOMLY AND THE SPEEDOMETER JUMPS UP AND DOWN RANDOMLY.

KEY WONT TURN, AS IF THERE IS A LOCKED STEERING WHEEL (EVEN THOUGH THERE ISN'T). AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED, BUT COULDN'T TURN THE CAR BACK OFF WITHOUT APPLYING AN OVERLY STRONG INWARD PRESSURE TO TURN OFF THE CAR. THE IGNITION SWITCH IS STIFF AND LOCKS UP.

2010 VW JETTA SE NOT LONG AFTER PURCHASING TEH VEHICLE USED IN 2016, THE ABS AND ESC LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON. WE DIDN'T REALLY NOTICE ANY CHANGE IN THE VEHICLE PERFORMANCE, BUT WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THE LIGHTS BEING ON, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT CONCERNED THE BRAKES AND STABILITY. ON 6/14/19 WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THIS ISSUE CHECKED OUT. THE RECEIPT FROM THAT VISIT SHOWED THAT THE ABS PUMP AND MODULE HAD FAULTS. THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED REPLACING BOTH AT A COST OF $2,610. WE ASKED THE SERVICE PERSON WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF WE DIDN'T REPLACE THEM AND HE SAID THE BRAKES WOULD STILL WORK BUT THE ABS MIGHT NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, BUT THAT WE SHOULD BE OK. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE LIGHTS ON MOST OF THE TIME SINCE THEN WITHOUT ANY NOTICEABLE PERFORMANCE CHANGE; HOWEVER, PERFORMANCE IS STARTING TO BECOME AN ISSUE. THE ABS AND ESC LIGHTS HAVE BEEN REMAINING ILLUMINATED FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW. ALSO IN THE LAST MONTH OR TWO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOW STARTING TO COME ON PERIODICALLY WITH A CORRESPONDING ISSUE WITH THE STEERING BEING MORE DIFFICULT. WE ARE BECOMING MORE CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY. AS A RESULT, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP THIS WEEK TO GET THE PROBLEM CHECKED OUT. HE INFORMED US THAT THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL (16V913000) THAT WOULD CORRECT ALL OF THESE ISSUES. HE GAVE US A COPY OF THE RECALL AND SAID WE WOULD NEED TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE. WE CONTACTED THE LOCAL VW DEALER AND THEY

CAR WILL UNPREDICTABLY STALL SOME TIMES, CLOSE THE IGNITION SWITCH AND ENGINE WILL BE ABLE TO START,,, WILL GO IN LIMP HOME MODE WHEN THE GLOW PLUG LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FOR DTC P00AF....

CONTROL PANEL FAN STOPPED WORKING AND BACK PASSENGER FLOOR IS WET.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER SCHUMACHER VOLKSWAGON LOCATED 3720 NORTHLAKE BLVD SUITE B, PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL 33403 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 16V913000(SERVICE BRAKES). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.

THE KEY WILL NOT START AND THEN WON'T TURN OFF. IT GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND THE WHEEL LOCKS. THE LOCK AND NOT STARTING HAPPENS WHEN STATIONARY AND THE NOTOTR IS OFF. THE NOT TURNING OFF THE CAR HAPPENS WHEN IT'S STOPPED BUT IGNITION CANNOT BE TURNED OFF.

REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM HAS FAILED, IN THE UNLOCKED POSITION, RENDERING SECURING THE VEHICLE IMPOSSIBLE. THERE IS NO SECONDARY METHOD OF LOCKING THE DOOR, SINCE THE ACTUATOR IS SOLELY ELECTRICALLY OPERATED. THERE ARE ALSO INDICATIONS THAT THIS CONDITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DRAINING THE CAR'S BATTERY WHEN LEFT FOR MORE THAN 5 DAYS WITHOUT STARTING.

KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION AND I CANT TURN CAR OFF.

I HAVE A 2010 VW JETTA WITH 118K ON IT AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY ENGINE DIED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY CAUSING SOME SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE DEPRESS BRAKE PEDAL INDICATOR LIGHT WILL BE ILLUMINATED, ALSO THE TRANSMISSION GETS STUCK IN A GEAR AND IT WON'T SHIFT. IN BOTH CASES, ONCE YOU STOP THE VEHICLE, TURN IF OFF AND CRANK IT BACK ON, THE PROBLEM WILL SOLVED.
