Defect. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain front-wheel drive 2015-2020 Audi A3 Sedan, 2015-2019 Audi A3 Cabriolet, 2019-2020 Volkswagen Jetta GLI, 2018 Golf Sportwagen GP, 2018-2019 Golf Sportwagen A7, 2015-2017 Golf Sportwagen, 2015-2020 Golf GTI, and 2015-2020 Golf A7 vehicles. Due to a problem with a suction jet pump seal inside the fuel tank, fuel may flow into the evaporative emissions (EVAP) system and possibly leak out of the charcoal canister.

Risk. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the suction pump, free of charge. Final owner notification letters for Audi owners were mailed on July 25, 2024. Final owner letters for VW owners were mailed on August 13, 2024. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Defect. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2019 Golf, Golf Alltrack, Golf Sportwagen, 2019-2020 Golf GTI, and Jetta vehicles equipped with a conventional ignition switch. The ignition switch may fail, especially in high temperature environments.

Risk. Ignition switch failure can cause the electrical system to shut down and the engine to stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

The tire pressure monitoring system may not detect an air pressure loss in adequate time when deflating occurs among all four tires simultaneously. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."

Risk. An undetected sudden loss of pressure in all four tires increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the TPMS software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 18, 2022. Defect. Volkswagen Group of America (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2019 Jetta vehicles. An incorrect driver frontal airbag may have been installed during a service/repair visit.

The passenger side headlight may be incorrectly positioned, reducing the driver's visibility when it is dark. The contact stated while sitting inside the vehicle with her children, the contact heard a loud popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle and became aware that the rear glass had shattered without impact. The approximate failure mileage was 215,667.

Driver's side rear spring broke on 10.17.2026. I noticed the driver's side rear end was sagging when I viewed car from behind while parked. It was not sagging before then. This vehicle had a safety recall NHTSA19V188000/VW42J5 performed back in 2019 and the rear springs were replaced then. So the replaced spring (under recall 19V188000) broke. I had to have a third party vendor replace the spring as no VW dealership was within the area. Car was not drivable and needed to be towed.

The panoramic sunroof glass shattered spontaneously while driving. I was accelerating onto the highway from an on-ramp at approximately 50 to 60 mph. There were no vehicles in front of me and the highway was empty, so nothing could have struck the glass. I heard a loud bang similar to a gunshot, looked up, and saw a hole covering roughly 20% of the sunroof panel with cracks spreading across the rest of the glass. I pulled over to the right shoulder and inspected it from outside. The glass at the break was bent upward and outward, indicating the failure came from inside the panel and not from an external impact. I removed the larger loose pieces for safety and taped over the roof before continuing. Safety risk: The sudden loud explosion at highway speed was startling and could have caused me to swerve or brake suddenly in traffic. Loose tempered glass fragments at speed pose a risk to occupants and to vehicles behind me. Luckily my shade panel was up and no glass fall on me and my passengers. No warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer, the manufacturer, or insurance. Photos were taken before any glass was removed, and glass fragments have been retained and are available for inspection.

My problem is the same as Recall 28H7/or 23V604. I have the some make and model and ignition as the Jettas with the recall but for some reson it is not a part of the recall. When the car gets hot the ignition cuts off while I'm driving and I have not speedometer, turn signals or wippers. Please make my VIN a part of the VW recall for this problem

I was driving and the passenger side rearview mirror glass delaminated and separated from the vehicle leaving non-reflective adhesive residue. The blind spot monitoring light and sensor still function correctly. Car is a 2019 (almost 7 years old), 72,180 miles, and regularly maintained.

On July 24,2026 my 2019 VWJetta with 44,000 miles on the odometer was brought to a local independent service center for routine maintenance and a NY State inspection. Surprisingly, it failed inspection due to a broken left rear coil spring. Service center personal informed me that a broken coil spring can dislodge can cause further damage to the adjacent tire and cause a loss of control. Other than the service center employees no one else has inspected the broken spring and no warning lights or symptoms preceded the diagnosis. A mechanic told me he has seen this issue in quite a few VWs and suggested I check if there are any recalls. i did find a coil spring recall for 2019 Jettas, but my vin # was not included. Possibly the recall was not wide enough?

Left coil spring suddenly broke while driving at highway speed which could have punctured the tire. This is part of NHTSA 19V188000, however my VIN was not included in VW recall code 42J5.

VW 2019 Jetta R-line had rear coil spring failure (cracked) at 55,000mi. VW did have a NTSB recall on 2019 Jettas, however the VIN was not included. At 107,000mi the rear coil spring on the other side failed (cracked). VW dealer indicated replacements are on back-order and they don't know when they will be available. These failed coil springs put the driver/passengers at risk of loss of steering control. The problem was confirmed by dealer. The component was not inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representatives. No warning lamps or messages, etc., dealer identified issue during oil change inspection.

The electronic dashboard does not display critical information like speed, engine RPM, engine warning lights, etc. The electronic dashboard stopped working and remains a black screen with no information about vehicle speed and other important infomation available to the driver. VW has a technical bulletin on this issue. This is a major safety hazard and should be upgraded to a recall. I am afraid to drive the car without knowing the vehicle speed or other missing information normally displayed on the dashboard.

I bought a VW 2019 Jetta used in 2023 from a Volkswagen dealer in Bayside, Queens with about 20k miles on it. There was a recall on the car for a faulty ignition switch and prior to getting my car inspected recently, it needed to be taken care of to pass inspection as well as an oil sensor contributing to a check engine light. Both were taken care of by VW Platinum Service in Hicksville and the car passed inspection with a mileage now with about 62k miles. Since then, my car on two extremely hot days has shut off on me completely while driving. The first time it happened, they inspected the car again and assured me after several tests there were no issues with the car. I had the car back for about 2 weeks and then this past Friday 7/17, the car shut off on me again and I towed it to the same service center. They keep claiming it has nothing to do with the recall and provide me with service reports that say "no codes found" after their inspection. They want to charge me for additional tests and "mechanical diagnostics" as per the owner of the center. There is ample evidence online that suggests the symptoms I am experiencing with my car are exactly attributed to the recall they claim to have fixed. There was never an issue prior to getting the recall taken care of and the inspection at this service center. They do not care about my safety concerns and I am legitimately afraid to drive the car around. The only reason why I am not injured yet is because it thankfully has died wh

The electrical system went out while I was driving and gave me the error ""Ignition switch off, safely stop the vehicle". I was able to pull over without an incident and it has not come up again since I've turned the vehicle back on, but I am concerned about this happening again and further impacting the safety of myself and other if it were to impact other systems. This seems to be a common problem with the 2019 Jetta and was a recall for many vehicles but for some reason my vehicle was not included in the recall and my dealership does not want to cover the cost.

I purchased a set of 4 Kumho tires on my vehicle on 9-24-24 when the vehicle had approximately 62,710 miles. On [XXX] with approximately 78,922 miles on the vehicle, I was informed that all the tires were cracked, they showed me in between the tread and they said they needed replacement. The tires had significantly less mileage than the advertised treadwear warranty. I maintained the vehicle according to manufacturer recommendations and had regular tire rotations and inspections performed. I am concerned that the tires experienced premature wear, which could affect vehicle safety and require replacement much sooner than expected. I contacted the tire manufacturer regarding the warranty, but my concerns have not been satisfactorily resolved-to date I have not heard from them, I emailed them on. 6-1-26 as well as the Volkswagen dealership in North Attleboro were the work was done. I am submitting this complaint because I believe the tire wear may indicate a product defect or issue affecting consumers. When the outside temperature is hot the car starts and within a minute or two gives a ‘start system faulty’ warning and the dash and all electronics shut off. The engine continues to run for a period before also shutting down. This happened a number of time and seems to be a known issue with Jetta’s but mine isn’t part of the recall. Totally unsafe.

I have had my vehicle for 2 years. Every summer or when temperatures are high, my car shuts off while driving. I get the “starter system faulty. Please service vehicle” message on the dashboard. I’ve called VW about the previous recall and they’ve said my vehicle is not car of it. I have a traditional key and these issues have happened more than a handful of times especially recently where I’ll drive and my car shuts off completely.

I've had a creaking noise in my back suspension since I bought the vehicle. Took it back to the dealership for inspection year after year and they said that my Springs were fine and they were not included in the recall. I come to find out that back coil springs or fractured and I've been driving on them for a while now because I guess everyone that has inspected my car has missed it at the dealership? My VIN number was not included in the recall for these coil springs but I have fractured Springs at 50,000 miles? Something doesn't seem right. Somebody missed something on the assembly line or with my VIN number according to this recall. This is a safety issue. And I've been driving down the highway with this crack fractured coil springs without even knowing. And the dealership keeps saying it's fine. VW just completely dismisses me because I wasn't included in a recall. I don't think this is right and it's a safety issue and they need to extend a recall to other VIN numbers for 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. I was always told everything is fine. But it's not.

While driving in hot environments the entire electrical interface would turn off. Some times the engine would stall as well. Nothing electrical works in the car and the motor would cut off while driving.

The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH, the engine revved, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. There was an abnormal clunking sound coming from the engine compartment, and the vehicle lost motive power. The message "Error Start/Stop" was displayed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.

During high temperatures, the electronics in my car will shut off after a few minutes of driving. I will receive 2 possible messages on the display. Sometimes it says, “Ignition switch off, safely stop the vehicle,” or “Starter system faulty, please service vehicle.”

It will not take fuel. I try very slowly to put fuel in it and it keeps shutting off at the pump. I took it to the VW Dealership and they said it was a stuck valve in the tank. That I would need a new gas tank and wanted to charge me $2000 to fix it. I took it to another place and they said it was a venting problem. They put a camera down in the tank and pushed the stick valve open and it wasn’t stuck as much as it had pressure built up in the tank from not getting holding the valve shut. I’m not sure what to do. I don’t know if it’s a stuck valve or a venting problem.

While driving, the vehicle suddenly shut off without warning. The engine lost power and multiple dashboard warning lights illuminated. The vehicle then displayed a malfunction related to the transmission, with the park (“P”) indicator blinking, and the vehicle would not shift out of park. The failure appears to be related to an electrical or ignition system issue, possibly the ignition switch. This created a significant safety risk as the vehicle lost power while in motion, increasing the risk of a crash. Prior to the failure, the only warning observed was a check engine light. No other warning messages were present before the incident. The problem has been confirmed by an independent mechanic/contractor. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. This issue appears consistent with known ignition switch/electrical failures reported in similar vehicles

The vehicle is sluggish while driving as if trying to pick up speed as if it is not shifting into the next gear. The other day while making a hard left turn, the vehicle stalled and when picking up speed continued to stall and struggled to gain power. When looking under the hood when it was safe to stop, there was smoke. Thank you.

I was driving when I heard a loud "bang" over my head. I was terrified and swerved because I was startled. This put me at risk of hitting a vehicle in the lane next to me and injuring myself or others. There were no warning lights or anything to indicate what happened and no cars within 100 feet of me in the front. When I got to my destination I looked to find any visible damage to my car but nothing seemed to stick out at first. Eventually I saw spidering of the glass panel between my factory windshield and sunroof without any point of impact. I took my vehicle to the dealer and they inspected it and tried to gaslight me that it was from impact. There is no impact point. There is separation/lifting of the panel at the seems. I was told they would not replace it since their corporate stated that the claim was "denied since it was due to impact" based off of some dealer photos that were submitted for their review. When I spoke to the service person on the phone he indicated he had heard of this happening before but when I was in person the manager tried to gaslight me that it was due to impact and not spontaneous even though there are tons of documented cases of this happening.

VIN: [XXX] Previous Report: XXX.. This a report of a continuing problem with my vehicle. The engine randomly shuts down endangering both myself and my passengers who are often my [XXX] and [XXX] grandchildren . No warning lamps. the car both stumbles and stops while driving and at stop signs and traffic lights. I repeatedly have taken it to my dealer (Elgin IL VW) they have been unable to determine the fault and fix it. This has been going on since June 2026 and progressively worsened. The most recent incident was on the afternoon of 19 June 2026. The “fixes’ so far have included bith replacing the fuel taknk fuel pump and today a part of the fuel feed system. Powered sunroof exploded while driving. Contacted Volkswagen and explained the issue to no avail. Also contacted local glass repair business that said they have replaced 3 sunroofs on the same vehicle for the same issue

When engaging the gas pedal, it broke off during travel, requiring a need to pull over. Gas pedal is entirely plastic and contains no metal parts.

While I was driving on the highway, the EPC light came on and the car began to lose power. It went into "limp" mode and lost all oil. I had it diagnosed at VW Carlock North Nashville. They told me the "exhaust camshaft cover bolts backed themselves out causing oil to get into timing belt and make belt swell causing it to lose tension and sheer timing belt, must replace timing belt, timing belt tensioner, timing belt idle pulley, exhaust camshaft cover bolts." This is barely out of warranty and the car has 46,000 miles. Why would the camshaft cover bolts simply come out? This is extremely dangerous, and the cost to repair it will exceed $3000. I am beyond frustrated.

Miles on car 79,000 December 1, 2025 Car started to slow down while driving on bay bridge, San Francisco speed went suddenly from 55 miles an hour to 30 miles and hour Lights went off EPC and RPM maximum was showing on dashboard. Car suddenly started running at 25 to 35 miles an hour while driving on the highway. I was at risk of getting hit by another vehicle since everyone else was driving at 55 and 65 miles an hour on the highway. I was Unable to drive to the mechanic or dealer and requested a towing company to take it to the dealer Important facts to add Transmission was replaced with only 50 thousand miles (2 years after bought from the dealer) On Feb 2025 Car was making noises and showing EPC light and RPM maximum. Car taken to dealer and dealer said that EVAP line was lose and fell from designated connection. Per dealer findings The Engine needs to be replaced at 79,000 miles The car was bought in December 2021 with 22,678 miles. In my opinion the car was sold defective and required two major repairs with less than 79,000 miles

On the dashboard there’s an message saying “Error: Steering Lock” and it won’t let me turn on the car.

The panoramic sunroof randomly shattered while driving. Nothing hit it, and it wasnt opened or cracked.

Initial call out for oil change and investigation of oil consumption and knocking from engine. Upon examination in person the timing cover was found to be heavily leaking and had pools of oil around the valleys that surround it. further examination if taking the cover off revealed metal shavings and debris caked all around the interior of the cover and deep inside the engine and oil in areas where there should not be. Even further investigations revealed that one of the bolts on the cam gear was missing and after researching it was found that this is a common issue/failure found on many of the 1.4tsi engines but is not widespread enough to form a recall as of yet. Many reports state very similar issues of the cam gear/phaser bolts becoming loose and falling down into the engine causing catastrophic failure and metal shavings/debris/fragments inside the engine. I paid nearly 18k$ just to drive the car about 10k miles and still owe 6300$ on the vehicle. This has completely turned my life upside down. Now I have no job, no way to take car of my elderly mom and barely able to take care of myself now that my engine has almost completed failed, if continued to drive the way it is, it may catch fire/explode. Im going to have a professional try to fix this issue but its going to cost more than I have. VWOA refused to help in any way since the vehicle is out of warranty. Vehicle is at 62388 in miles. Exhaust camshaft actuator oil cap bolts loosen and fall out and could cause engine failure. Volkswagen has issued a service bulletin for this problem but not a recall.

There is a recall for certain VW models because the key may be removed when the vehicle is not in Park position. There is an issue with the micro switch mechanism, resulting in an error code. There is a wide recall for many models, except the 2019 Jetta. My dealer confirmed this is the SAME issue as the recall, but my car is not listed under it. Over time, a build-up of silicate on the shift lever micro switch contacts can make it possible to remove the key from the ignition switch without the shift lever being in the "P" Park position. This makes the vehicle noncompliant with 49 CFR 571.114 Standard No. 114 Theft protection and rollaway prevention. If the ignition key is removed without the shift lever being in the "P" Park position, there is a risk that the vehicle may roll away, resulting in a crash that could injure people and damage property. What is the repair for Compliance Recall 37L5? When parts become available, dealers will install an additional switch and circuit board.The recall repair will be FREE.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with fuel tank failure. The contact was informed that the fuel tank, charcoal canister, and the EVAP purge valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact referenced an unknown recall however, the VIN was not under recall. MY Jetta is only 6 years old and has only 27,350 mileage when this issue happened. Low oil light came and took it to a Local Shop where they put it on a lift and saw oil all over the bottom of the car. The technician told me this car is not safe and you need to have it towed to VW and see what is happening. I had it towed to VW where I purchased the car. The technician removed the upper timing cover and found camshaft sprocket bolts backed out 1 and another one ready to come out, causing oil to leak out all over. When I asked the service manager what caused this, he had no answer. I also asked him have you ever seen this in any of the Jetta. He said he never seen this. I told the service manager that what happened to my car was a safety issue, due to a defect and workmanship from the manufacture or whoever assembled this camshaft. Their is research on it regarding the camshaft . This particular part has to be assembled correctly while assembling these bolts into the camshaft. If did not bring in my car to find out why I was leaking oil and my oil light was working. I could of had a serious problem harming myself and any passengers in my car, due to losing control of my car. My cost for the repair was $2,407.99 and no one would give me any compensation on my repair.

The faulty part was subsequently replaced, and I paid for the repair out of pocket. During my visit, I mentioned the known recall for ignition switch failures affecting the same model vehicles. However, I was informed that my Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is not currently included in the recall. Despite this, the issue I experienced matches the recall description both in nature and severity. Given the serious safety implications of an ignition switch failure while the vehicle is in motion, I respectfully request the following: Re-evaluate the recall scope to include vehicles like mine.
