2014 Ford Taurus

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Explorer, 2014-2015 Taurus and 2014 Edge vehicles equipped with 2.0L or 2.3L engines and front wheel drive. The support bracket for the front drive axle halfshaft may fail.

Risk. The failed bracket could result in a loss of park function which can cause unintended vehicle movement, and loss of motive power while driving which increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the link shaft bracket, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. Owners received an interim notification detailing safety risk December 8, 2020. A second letter will be mailed when parts become available in January 2021. The recall began February 2, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S63.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Lincoln MKT and Ford Flex and Taurus vehicles with the Police Interceptor or SHO Performance Pack. The rear suspension toe links may fracture due to stress on the rear suspension.

Risk. A fractured rear toe link will cause a sudden change in vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear suspension toe links, free of charge. Remedy parts are not currently available. Owners were notified about the recall on March 3, 2020. A second notice will be mailed when remedy parts become available, which is currently expected to be the end of September 2020. The recall began October 28, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or Lincoln customer service at 1-800-521-4140. Ford's number for this recall is 20S04.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with 3.5L GTDI Ecoboost engines and 2013-2015 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor vehicles. A component within the fuel pump electric module (PEM) may overheat causing a loss of electrical power to the fuel pump.

Risk. A loss of power to the fuel pump will cause the engine to stall or prevent the vehicle from starting, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel PEM part number and replace the fuel PEM, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on December 1, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S31.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 2, 2010, to November 30, 2013; 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured August 25, 2011, to November 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured September 12, 2011, to November 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.

Risk. If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Taurus vehicles manufactured November 24, 2008, through February 28, 2014, originally sold in, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. When used in areas that use road salt, the license plate lamp assembly may experience an electro-chemical reaction and corrosion as a result of water intrusion.

Risk. This corrosion may result in a short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the license plate lamp assemblies, free of charge. The recall began on July 26, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S08. Note: Under program 14R01, Ford will notify owners in non-corrosion states, and, at the customer's request, dealers will replace the license plate lamp assembly.

This car has left me stranded multiple times. Took to dealership to find out the fuel pump that had been replaced at 90,000 was dead. Catalytic converter replaced at 125,000. Replaced fuel pump control module, fuel pump and sending unit for the 2nd time in 2014 Ford Taurus SEL AWD with 132,000 miles. Now it is sending a check engine code P0461 which is most likely due to the recent replacement messing with PCM values. The 3.5 DOHC engines should be recalled as well for the fuel system issues along with the other models recalled.

My rear-view (back-up) camera displays the image “reversed” when I put the vehicle in reverse, meaning the direction of what I see doesn’t match the direction the vehicle is actually moving. This is dangerous because it can confuse the driver when judging distances and steering or aligning the car while backing up, increasing the risk of hitting a person, child, or parked object—especially in tight spaces, at low speeds, or when visibility is limited (night, rain, or glare). I’m requesting inspection and corrective action to ensure the camera feed is properly oriented and reliable before the vehicle is used for reversing maneuvers.

Hello - the steering wheel has become very difficult to turn including inability to turn to the right or left at times, and seems to increase over time but has decreased while remaining stiff/difficult at times.I thought it was related to low/missing power steering fluid or the weather because the steering improved on a warm/warmer day. When I tested the weather theory it was another warm/hot day and later in the day meaning the car didn't require as much or any warm up as it usually does on cold days/earlier in the day. The steering was so difficult I couldn't turn the wheel to the right at all and it was extremely hard to turn to the left but less than difficulty trying to turn to the right. I checked under the hood and didn't see anything for power steering, and later learned the 2014 Ford Taurus does not require power steering fluid. This is a safety concern because it means drivers can't steer at all or only with extreme difficulty increasing the potential for vehicle accidents. I don't know/can't say if this is negatively impacting other parts of the vehicle.

There is a recall on 2014 Ford Taurus’ but my VIN does not pop as one that is effective, yet I have all the symptoms. My fuel pump control module, and other various parts of my fuel pump keep failing. Completely lost power in my gas pedal today while on the highway. Couldn’t speed up or do anything. Once I came to a stop, the car wouldn’t start. It would just crank but no turnover. This fuel pump issue has happened 3 times now, but my car is not listed up the recall list. I feel that this is a safety issue and falls under all the same issues that others are having. Can provide receipts showing the previous repairs.

Foot pedal parking brake stopped holding it's position. Pedal will move up and down, and parking brake light remains illuminated, but the system is not actually holding pressure on the parking brakes. Failure is caused by a small plastic piece that is used against metal components in the parking brake assembly and eventually breaks. This can cause the vehicle to roll unintentionally and increase the risk of an accident. This issue has already been reported for the same vehicle as mine under NHTSA Campaign Number: 11113016 and I suspect it has been reported under additional models and years as well since it is a commonly reported issue on internet forums, yet no investigation or recall has been performed. The only remedy is to purchase a new parking brake assembly from Ford for more than $300, plus labor. Ford will continue to profit from the issue which is why the NHTSA needs to assist before (more) deaths and property damage occur.

The backup camera will sometimes produce a grainy image or prompt a warning the camera isn't working. This issue has been noticed for other vehicles and issued a recall for the Ford Taurus but doesn't cover my vehicles year, 2014. The 2015 recall affects 2015 and later tauruses, 25V695000.

When putting car in reverse backup, camera works intermittently.

The rearview camera system intermittently fails to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. At times, the screen remains black or frozen instead of showing the live rear view. The camera and wiring are still installed and available for inspection upon request. When the rearview camera fails, I cannot see behind the vehicle while reversing. This creates a risk of collision with objects, other vehicles, or pedestrians—particularly in driveways, parking lots, or areas where children or pedestrians may be behind the car. The lack of a working camera significantly reduces rear visibility and situational awareness. The issue occurs intermittently, and while I have experienced it multiple times, it has not yet been officially diagnosed or confirmed by a dealer or service center. However, I have learned that similar camera failures have been recalled for the same make and model from 2015–2025, which suggests the 2014 model may also be affected by the same defect. No, the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives specifically for this issue, but it is available for inspection if needed. There were no warning lamps, error messages, or prior indications before the failure. The issue began occurring a month ago and has continued intermittently since then without warning.

Ford recalls vehicles due to issue with rearview cameras, because their rearview cameras can go blank or display a distorted image. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this a safety issue. I have a 2014 Ford Taurus SEL with the rearview camera can blank and give me a msg to contact my dealer or display a distored image. I have contacted Ford on this problem and they responded with they will note it. I feel that since this is a safet concern that my vehicle should be included in the recall. My vehicle only has approx 52,000 miles on it.

Back up camera doesn't work most of the time, and some times it's upside down!!!! Should be under the current recall, but my make/model year isn't covered!!!

Ford has just announced a recall for certain model year Taurus and Fusion vehicles regarding malfuntion of the backup camera. My 2014 Taurus is not included in the recall, notwithstanding the fact that it exhibits the same malfuntioning characteristics as those included in the recall: sometimes presenting a black screen, sometimes presenting an upsidedown image, and occasionally presenting a correct image. The camera began exhibiting these characteristics about four years ago. I believe that the recall population should be extended to include the 2014 Taurus.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that on several occasions the vehicle failed to immediately start-up. The vehicle was later driven to the local dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The fuel pump control module was replaced but after retrieving the vehicle, while driving approximately 75 MPH, the vehicle stalled. During the failure, the message "Check Fuel Inlet" was displayed. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V621000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 140,000.

When placing the car in park, the brakes do not engage fully or right away. The vehicle rolls before coming to an abrupt and rough stop. When shifting the car out of park, the brakes make a loud noise. This causes a potential collision, or unintentionally hitting a pedestrian.vehicle has not been inspected due to cost related issues to the vehicle owner.

The engine light came on and was scanned for engine code P0430 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2). Upon further research, it appears that a catalytic converter has started failing. I was able to clean the catalytic converter, but they are very expensive to replace. Ford issued an extended warranty for this part, but did not issue a recall, despite this being an issue on multiple vehicles. This warranty is 10 years on the Police Interceptor Sedan (Taurus Platform), and 11 years on the Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer Platform). My car's mileage was at approximately 103,000 miles when the light came on. Both warranties extend to 120,000 miles, and my car was two months older than 10 years when this occurred. I contacted Ford through multiple avenues, even writing a letter to Ford Consumer Affairs, and they all declined to extend their warranties to the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan despite the fact that it is identical to the Ford Police Interceptor Utility when it comes to the engine, transmission, PTU, and all components related to those parts, including the catalytic converter. This is a known issue that should have been a recall in the first place, but Ford should at least have the same warranty issued to both cars as the part and failure of said part are identical. Driving down CR 230 in Wyoming, the situation started if I have to estimate, 7 miles west of Woods Landing, I heard a metal on metal grinding noise from the engine bay, and a loss of power on the throttle. I look at my RPM gauge and notice it is a zero. No check engine light, all electronics working as normal along with the brakes, and I slow the vehicle down to 30 MPH. Shortly after noticing, I get a "Check Brake System" flash on my instrument panel cluster, also the light which illuminates for my parking brake turns on, and I lose power brakes, the brake pedal turned extremely stiff. I immediately look for a pull off zone, but because I had lost brakes I did not want to risk keeping the vehicle moving. I get the vehicle stopped on the side of the road, and instantly put it in park along with the parking brake and shut the vehicle off. The vehicle would not start or crank, just a flash across all of the electronics, the lights go dark, then illuminate again as if normal. This is an extremely dangerous situation, the vehicle had not notified me that the motor had stopped turning; not a check engine light or ring at all, and shortly after that the power brakes stop working. This is very dangerous for motorists because of the lack of notification from the vehicle, and the incredibly weak breaking ability. If the vehicle had been moving at highway speeds, any sort of traffic, I could've ended up injured or dead, and even worse, killed another driver. The vehicle was towed to the

The contact's son turned off the vehicle and waited for the engine to cool down before restarting. Upon inspection under the hood, the contact discovered that there was no coolant in the coolant reservoir. The contact added coolant to the coolant reservoir, but the failure recurred while driving and there was coolant leaking onto the ground while the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
