Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain air bag inflator and/or module replacement service parts that may have been used as part of a collision repair. The parts include certain driver-side air bag inflators and/or modules, designed to fit 2005-2014 Ford Mustang and Mustang GT500. It also includes certain passenger-side air bag inflators and/or modules designed to fit 2005-2014 Ford Mustang, 2010-2012 Lincoln MKZ, 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, 2010-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, and 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX vehicles. Please see Ford's recall report for the specific part numbers. These parts may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

Risk. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the frontal air bag, an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. Ford will notify dealers that purchased the affected parts, and dealers will provide replacement parts to purchasers, free of charge. The recall began March 18, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21S05.

These vehicles may be equipped with a driver or passenger frontal air bag inflator used as a replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

Risk. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the frontal air bag, an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the driver and passenger air bag module, and replace either the module or the inflator, if necessary, free of charge. Additionally, Ford is recalling certain 2011 Ford Ranger and Mercury Milan vehicles, 2011-2012 Ford Fusion and Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ vehicles and 2011-2014 Ford Mustang vehicles sold, or ever registered, in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia or "Zone B." Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2005-2014 Mustang vehicles manufactured April 6, 2004, to June 21, 2014, and 2005-2006 GT vehicles manufactured February 20, 2004, to September 22, 2006. The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.

Risk. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front driver side air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on June 10, 2016. Even if interim repairs were performed under safety recall 14V-802, owners must bring their vehicles in for the final remedy. The contact’s brother owns a 2014 Ford Mustang. While the owner was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle drifted over to the left, crossed into the other lanes, drove into a ditch, and crashed into an object at the end of the ditch, causing the vehicle to become airborne. The vehicle landed in a nearby field and came to a complete stop. The contact stated that after several impacts, the air bags deployed. The contact stated that due to the impact, the driver was unable to state what had caused the vehicle to drift over to the left before crashing into the ditch. The driver received injuries to the lower body, L1 vertebrae, chest, and a fractured back. Medical attention was needed, and the driver remained in the Intensive Care Unit. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and remained at the tow yard with extensive damage. The contact was informed that collision coverage was required to repair the vehicle. The contact was unsure if the vehicle was deemed a total loss. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I am reporting a safety hazard and a failure by Ford Motor Company to properly remedy the mandatory Takata Airbag Recall. Following the recall repair, a technician reassembly error left the airbag warning light permanently illuminated, meaning my Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) is completely disabled and will not deploy in a crash. I took the vehicle to Astro Ford in Mississippi for resolution. The Service Manager, Hunter Landry, attempted to reset the system three times and confirmed a permanent safety fault exists in the exact recall area. However, Ford’s proprietary dealership software is actively blocking the dealer from pulling the diagnostic codes or proceeding with the repair without a corporate override code. Ford Corporate customer service agents have repeatedly refused to route this request or issue the override code to the dealer, effectively blocking the repair of a failed federal safety recall component. The dealer requires a corporate email sent to [email protected] to authorize the diagnostic waiver and bypass the software block. Ford's corporate refusal forces me to drive an unsafe vehicle with no working airbags. Desired Resolution: I request that the NHTSA compel Ford Motor Company to immediately issue the corporate diagnostic override code to Hunter Landry at Astro Ford so this defective federal safety recall can be properly diagnosed and repaired at no cost to me.

The check engine warning light illuminated and remained illuminated after the first failure. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, restarted, and the contact continued driving. The vehicle was towed to the residence, and a hand-held diagnostic machine retrieved DTC: P1500. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. My son was driving to school. He was not speeding or any type of reckless driving. He hit an ice patch. His car spun and flew thru the air. The airbag compartment opened but it was defective. All metal shards came flying out of it causing multiple lacerations. He also lost consciousness from the impact and I was told by hospital ER doctor the airbag was defective and he was suffering from a very serious concussion.

I was driving down the road and just lost power steering , a message came on and said loss of power steering assist , I pulled o er cut the car off waited a few min then started it back up and it was working again , then about 10 miles down the road it did it again

The check engine warning light illuminated, and the instrument cluster was red. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed transmission ring sensor. The contact was informed that the transmission ring sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the failure was intermittent, and occasionally the vehicle lost motive power. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 172,000.

Power steering assist stopped working, shutting my traction and advanced traction control off

The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 140,000.

The contact was able to exit the vehicle; however, the front driver's side door could only slightly open due to the significant damage to the vehicle's front end. The contact received medical assistance the following day. The contact underwent a CT scan and was informed that he had sustained a concussion. The vehicle was towed and totaled. A police report was filed. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,502.

The following problem happened to me a few years ago (twice within a couple of months) and again, 2 days ago. Each time I was standing at a traffic light when all of a sudden it accelerated at full throttle. I practically stood on the brake pedal, but the car was inching forward, as I put the transmission into park. This was not a subtle situation, it was dangerous. The engine went from idle to screaming within 2 seconds. I ruled out the floor mat as it was in the proper position and snapped into the floor. It did not cause any warning lights to come on. in May, I had the oil changed, at which time they suggested that they clean the throttle body, which they did.They never heard of the above problem.

Was driving my vehicle on the freeway traveling about 70 miles per hour when the vehicle suddenly shifted into first gear. I was able to maintain control and the vehicle shifted back to sixth gear. Issue occurred again within 5 minutes of the first incident and then the vehicle went into "Limp Mode". I was able to drive the vehicle home under this condition. Vehicle check engine light turned on and the code P0720, which is the Output Speed Sensor Circuit. This is the same issue that occurred on 2011-2013 F-150 and Mustang vehicles that currently have a recall for this (Safety Recall 19S07). The same transmissions (6R80) are used in both vehicles, as well as the Powertrain Control Modules, but my vehicle's VIN did not fall under this recall. This is a very dangerous issue that could lead to a deadly accident.

On 5-26-22 i took my mustang to Roush Ford in Hillard Oh. They tested and found out that I needed a lead frame connector. Part # Al327627V $ 226.10. I paid in advance for this part as Roush said they would not order unless I paid in advance. Roush stated they would call when part comes in. I made several attempts to get status of part and all they would say is they were still awaiting. On or about 6-20-23 I called again, At this time they stated the dealership had been sold to Valley ford and still no word on part arrival. I have owned several Fords in my life but after awaiting over 1 yr on a part and car I could not safely have my wife drive I decided to trade it in for another vehicle. I then called Valley to ask for them to credit my card in the amount of the part. They told me that the money went with Roush and they could not return my money?? They suggested I call Roush auto group( Honda ). I made the call to service manager and he said that Roush Ford was no longer in business and they could not refund my monies. In my mind Ford was paid the $226.10 and someone should be able to pay me back. I am asking that The Ford Motor co honor the deal by paying me back. Thanks

My clutch pedal went out before a moth of ower ship, my transmission 3rd gear went out before a month of owner ship, my bumper second time flying off on me 2nd month of owner ship.

While driving the clutch pedal will stick to the floor after shifting gears. You can pull the pedal up manually and it will functioning properly for a while but will repeat sticking to the floor. May happen once a day, once a week or more often. Ambient temperature has no affect to the problem. Car currently has 15,000 miles on it

I currently own a 2014 Mustang GT with a manual transmission and notice my emergency brake release button was cracking. The button is made of cheap plastic and the dealer does not have a replacement release button. They only sell the whole emergency brake, which I feel that Ford should she be responsible of replacing the emergency brake button, since this is a safety issue that you cannot engage the emergency brake or disengage the emergency brake button when parking your vehicle on a hilly driveway or any hill at all. Which I leave in Northern California that is very hill and feel that if my car ever comes disengaged out of 1st gear it would cause serious damages to others, such as crashing into a building or other cars or even a fatality.
