The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in Park.

Risk. An unlatched tailgate may open and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Owners are advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving. Dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 17, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Risk. A steering arm that disconnects may result in a total loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

While towing a 24-foot Spartan enclosed racing trailer carrying a Bandolero race car and related equipment on [XXX], I began to feel a slight vibration from the vehicle or trailer. At first, I believed the vibration may have been caused by the road surface, but it steadily intensified. I slowed the truck to approximately 50 mph and activated my hazard lights. I could not initially determine whether the vibration was coming from the truck or trailer. Because I was concerned it could be tire-related, I monitored the truck’s tire-pressure display while my boyfriend monitored the trailer tire pressures. Neither system showed an abnormal pressure reading at that time. Shortly afterward, I heard a loud bang and safely moved onto the highway shoulder. After stopping, I observed that one of the truck tires had lost air pressure. The truck’s tire-pressure monitoring system then displayed zero pressure for that tire. I walked along the shoulder and found the tire tread completely separated from the tire casing several hundred feet behind the vehicle. I recovered and retained the separated tread. The tire remaining on the wheel/rim was missing the tread section that I recovered, indicating a complete tread delamination. The tires were installed on the vehicle when I purchased it on XXX. LT235/80R17 I had the inside dual tire separate and blow out causing damage to my vehicle I was pulling a trailer on interstate and took a bit to find a place to safely get off highway I contacted kenda per my tire shop instructions they wanted me to send them the tire which I sent what was left of it and they came back denying the claim said I drove with low air pressure I have tpms sensors so I would have known if I had a low tire pressure in the meantime I bout two new tires and placed them on front of truck since then I have had two of the same tires separate and loose all tread I fortunately caught them before they blew out contacted kenda warranty and now they are telling me the tread was too low I have the last tires of that batch and still have tread these tires were rotated every 5000 miles at oil changes by the company I purchased tires from

The Engine Cooler has a know defect that GM has put out service bulletins for. The engine cooler is cracking, mixing oil and antifreeze that is creating a sludge that runs thru the entire system. GM wants techs to attempt to clean/flush the engine before they approve a new engine to be ordered under warranty. GM is aware of the problem and there should be a recall out on the problem according to the service manager I spoke with at the dealership my truck is at currently. I was told the expected time frame is up to 3 months for the work to be completed, with no loaner available that is equivalent to the vehicle that went to the shop. The recall is necessary because if the engine has a major failure while driving it could cause an accident, if the vehicle is hauling a heavy trailer that could be detrimental because the truck can haul up to 40,000 GCWR.

The infotainment/control module in my 2024 Silverado 3500HD failed unexpectedly while I was traveling cross-country. The module is available for inspection upon request. Prior to the failure, I did not receive any warning lamps or messages. When the system failed, I lost access to multiple camera systems integrated into the vehicle, including backup and visibility-assistance cameras used to aid lane changes, parking, maneuvering, and identifying obstacles around the truck. Due to the size and height of this vehicle, these cameras provide important visibility of areas that are difficult to observe directly, including pedestrians, cyclists, and children who may be below the driver's line of sight. The loss of these camera systems reduced situational awareness and increased the risk of a collision while backing, changing lanes, or operating the vehicle in crowded areas. The failure also disabled navigation, hands-free functions, audio, WiFi connectivity, and access to vehicle settings controlled through the infotainment system. The vehicle was inspected by a Chevrolet dealer in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The dealer attempted a software reflash to correct the issue; however, the procedure rendered the unit completely inoperable. Moved the truck on to the lawn and put it in park turned truck off. got out of the truck and went into the garage and 5 min later came out and saw the truck started to roll and went 50 ft and hit a tree.

Transmission has shifting issues (hard shifts) . Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I was driving down the XXX Expressway Sunday, XXX, with my children in my vehicle. This is a very heavily traveled highway in [XXX] with heavy traffic. My 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 Diesel HD Truck with 25,500 miles suddenly started throwing multiple codes, lost power, and steering. Fortunately I was able to "roll into" the emergency lane while muscling the steering in that direction and engaged the emergency brake. My other son was following shortly behind me in his vehicle and pulled over to assist us about 30 mins after my truck was sitting stalled in the HWY. He parked his truck behind mine, put on his hazards, and we were transferring gear from my truck to his truck. At this point my 2024 Chevy HD Silverado Diesel started rolling back on it's own and nearly crushed my son's friend. The parking break was on and it suddenly released on it's own. It took 3 grown men to stop it from crushing my son's friend. The force was so strong that when he lifted his hand to try to stop the truck from rolling, it broke the right rear tail light. He could have been crushed between our two trucks from this situation. I have never been notified by GM of any recalls, however, the truck had to be towed to Ferman Cheverlotte service on Adamo Dr, Tampa Fl and is currently sitting on their lot. Trailer brakes and lights come and go. I start with having everything then loose brakes and lights when I’m driving. This is apparently a known issue that they have a fix for but I have never received anything about a recall.

REAR WHEEL LOCKUP: While driving down the highway pulling a loaded trailer the rear wheels locked up, GM has an open recall on 2020-2022 models but denies its an issue with the 2024 model, my dealership pushed a “software update” but that does not fix the faulty transmission valve body issue, it just overrides the safety features that were designed to protect the transmission. I have a video of it occurring while slowing down for a stop sign when it did it the second time to me.

The engine oil cooler failed causing engine oil to leak into the coolant system on my 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500HD. This requires a full replacement of the coolant system. In addition, excessive sludge buildup inside the motor is caused. This is a known issue with GM for 2024 Diesel vehicles. GM has released a service bulletin but is fighting my local dealership on the required repairs.

No Owners Manual came with my Truck. I was made aware of Safety Recall 25V815 (Manufacturer Recall N252532020) which addressed 2025-2026 cars and trucks. Currently my 2024 is not included. I can confirm my dealer did not receive any owners manuals for most cars and trucks in 2024. I notified Chevrolet Customer Service and they did not assist. Vehicle was making a very loud humming noise at 73 mph. After returning to the dealership they found that the bearings in the rear end house had destroyed themselves causing internal damage to the housing and the entire rear end now needs to be replaced.

When pulling my trailer with my 2024 chevy 3500, I get the following alert displayed on my screen periodically: Trailer Brakes Disabled Service Required. The trailer brakes stop working on my 16000lb trailer and I need to pull off the road and shut off the truck, and then restart it to get my brakes working again. The dealer replaced the brake controller in the truck, but I still get the message. I towed this trailer across country 2 times in my 2020 chevy without a problem. I was driving on the interstate at around 65mph. Towing my fifth wheel. Transmission started shifting hard with a loud bang that sounded like we hit a huge pothole. I keep getting a chunking noise coming from the rear of vehicle. Twice I have taking in to the dealer and I was told this condition may be caused by movement between the anchor plate and axle assembly. They have re-torqueing the joints of the leaf springs assembly. it coming loose. It has happened after 4,000 miles. This tells me that it can come loose while I am driving! GM has a service document ID: 5501065. It has been happening since 2020!

10-speed automatic transmission valve body failure at 41k Parts are unavailable nor are replacement transmissions. Dealership says 3 months

When driving my truck and towing a trailer which has elec. over hyd. brakes and trying to stop. My truck will disable my brakes on my trailer, which may weigh 3+ times the weight of my truck. GM had a recall on the truck brake module which fixed my problem. Then l took my truck back for an oil change a few months later and they said that there is a open recall on the brake module (NEWER UPDATE) which once again caused my brake issues again with the newer recall. l have opened up a complaint with GM and they say take it to a GM dealer. The dealer checks the truck out and says there is no problem with the truck. They tell me that l need to install a module on my trailer ,which l did early on with the problem. l did own a 2017 chevy and pulled that trailer with NO issues. The trailer dealer hooked the trailer to a 2018 GMC and a 2016 Dodge pick-up. And had NO problem with the trailer brakes and put a NYS inspection sticker on my trailer LAST MONTH. We !! the trailer dealer and myself have spoken to the company ( brake module) that GM says that l need. This trailer brake module which the trailer dealer installed in Feb 2024 still did not fix my problem. The brake module company told me GM has His words a HORNETS NEST problem with this issue. The brakes on this vehicle are very spongy, they have to be pushed all the way to the floor to get the vehicle to stop. When pulling a trailer you are on pins and needles wondering if you can get the truck to stop. The trailer brakes are doing most of the stopping. I have owned many trucks and the brakes on this 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 are the worst that I have ever experienced. This is a Safety hazard with serious implications. I have talked to many other people with the same truck and they also claim that the brake system is faulty and/or sub standard. I have taken my truck back to the dealer and they claim that the brakes are working normal (test driving around their service lot). The valve body failed on my transmission. My safety was impacted because as I was towing my 40 foot camper and my vehicle went into limp mode on the freeway at 70 miles an hour and I could only go 45 with four children in the vehicle. Yes the problem has been confirmed by a local dealership. There was a check engine light present, but eventually it went away and the truck returned to normal. This has happened one time before as well.

Vehicle and many like it with the 10 Speed transmission are having failing valve bodys which de-rates the vehicle to stay in 5th gear by GM coding and limits speed to 50 MPH. this part has a significant lead time while GM is rolling new trucks off the line with the part needed to rectify the issue of all the already purchased trucks and SUV's

After replacement of the trailer brake controller for the well known issue of the new OEM trailer brake controller disconnecting from the trailer brakes, the issue still persists. The trailer brake controller should remain connected to the trailer brakes at all times instead of disconnecting under its own control and programming. It is a major safety issue to be trailering a 21,000lb trailer with 6 functional disk brakes and have the controller decide to disconnect at seemingly random times to include descending a mountain pass at highway speeds.

The tailgate spontaneously unlatches without operator input while driving or parked. The dealer thinks it is caused by moisture in the latch gate switch. The tailgate has spontaneously unlatched on several occasions while pulling a trailer without the driver/operator being aware this has occurred. Then when making a turn the tailgate wedges into the trailer jack and makes the tailgate inoperable. The bodyshop quote to repair the tailgate is: 2,275.92 Dinsdale Chevrolet dealer says there is not a recall and has declined to pay for repairs. While driving along pulling a trailer, you unexpectedly lose you trailer brakes. Someone is going to get seriously injured or killed if GM doesn't fix this.

While traveling with a 5th wheel camper (Grand Design), that has solar panels the brake controller stops providing a connection to the trailer brakes. This is a know problem of the 2024 Chevrolets and so far there is not a fix that I know of. This is a big big safety issue because the trailer is heavy and hard to stop. The documentation from Chevrolet states the issue is once the battery charges and has a higher voltage than the truck battery it will surge the system and deactivate the braking system on the camper. This also hold true when the camper battery is too low, again the truck battery will surge the system and deactivate the braking system on the camper.

Vibration occurs when driving at highway speed. Vibration can be felt in the steering wheel, drivers seat, and passenger seat. I believe this is related to my vechicles front hub bearing extensions. there was a TSB for this issue on presious model trucks and the same part is used on 2024 models.

Consistent error messages when trailering that lead to vehicle having a failure of trailer brakes

Occasionally, after starting engine and applying brake pedal to shift into drive from park, engine rpm increases to over 1500rpm, and with full brake pedal applied rear wheels will spin while front brakes remain engaged and front wheels remain stationary. This has happened in a parked garage and rear wheels spun on dry concrete. Adding additional brake pedal pressure did not stop rear wheels from turning. This could result in a very dangerous situation and cause the vehicle to surge forward with little warning to driver allowing the vehicle to strike an object or bystander. When this occurred, brake pedal was firmly pressed and foot was completely off of the accelerator pedal. Each time this occurred I had to quickly shift vehicle into park to correct the situation. When shifted into park, the transmission parking pawl could be heard ratcheting. It is my belief that if four wheel drive was engaged, vehicle would move and overpower brakes when this occurs.

Wiper totally quits working when using it. May start again and may not. So far dealer has not fully solved problem

I was towing my 36 ft 5th wheel home from my storage place when the engine stopped. I had no brakes or power steering. I was coming up to a stop sign when this occurred so fortunately I was only moving about 15 mph. I was able to stop the truck and trailer by using the 5th wheel braking system without any damage to vehicle or other property. Once I regained my composure I tried to start the truck. All the dash lights were on but it would not start. The digital display kept showing Service ECM & Service StabiliTrak. I had the truck towed to the dealer where it is right now. They have been unable to replicate the issue and have no suggested fix at this time. I had no prior warning messages or symptoms of the problem. All of this happened Sunday April 5, 2024. The truck is a 2024 and I bought it new, picked it up November 30, 2023. Current mileage is 3,523. If I would have been towing on the Interstate at 60-65 mph around a curve this could have been catastrophic.

There is an electrical / turn signal and trailering issue. Not towing- the right turn signal gives a rapid flash when the automatic headlights are activated or in off position. The rapid flash goes away when manual headlights are used both running lights and on. Although the light still works with a rapid blink, there is a dash error message and it’s impossible to know while driving if the error is real or not. This issue is intermittent when auto headlights are selected. Towing- bigger safety issue. The trailer lights only work properly when headlights are in auto mode and daylight. When it gets dark, the headlights turn on and error messages happen and trailer lights go out. There are also error messages when manual running lights or manual lights are activated. Thus it appears there is no way to tow an RV safely at night. This did not occur on my 2021 Chevy 3500. These issues are wide spread but GM is doing nothing about it. Please help me, the other owners, and the public from these dangerous vehicles.

The vehicle was involved in a single vehicle roll over crash. The sheet metal of the roof pealed down and away from the frame of the vehicle. The windshield separated from the metal at the top portion of the windshield. The metal then began to separate from underneath the weld along the sides of the roof. The metal was then rolled inward into the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The metal pinned the front passenger seat back down and to the right against the passenger side B-pillar. Both A-pillars did not sustain any structural damage as the result of the crash.

I believe my def heater has stopped working and my full def tank is now frozen. I’m now stranded in the middle of South Dakota in -29 degree weather. My truck will not drive. Or idle for the heater to keep me warm because the def is required for engine to run.

With just under 900 miles the Steering wheel is turned to the left. There is a knocking noise when turning corners which the truck is now at the dealership for the 2nd time since I bout it.

I have issues where I am connected to a new 42" 5th wheel and constantly get "Check Trailer Wiring" warnings as we drive down the road. I have been running with the lights on and they are on and fine, when the warning displays, but lose brakes to the trailer (both through pressing the brakes or controller and the trailer indicator light goes off). I cleaned the ground area and replaced the connector and still see issues. I checked continuity in the cable and good. I have been adding dielectric grease to the 7-pin connector. I saw a YouTube video where another gentleman, with a similar vehicle, had had the same issue and got a recall under GM Service Bulletin 6379278 for a trailer brake controller replacement. When I talked to GM/Chevy Consumer support, they advised that my truck was not under this bulletin and advised to call the NHTSA to get a case open or added to the service bulletin. I have a case open with GM #9-11303425686.

Recently purchased a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Hd3500 and use it to haul a 40' 5th wheel toyhauler. Several instances when I connected the RV electrical cord to the truck I would see a "check trailer wiring" message. Along with this message I noticed there was no current going to the RV brakes. I had several technicians look into matter, but could not find a resolution. Later my brother sent me a YouTube related to this problem. It appears that if the RV has solar cells for power or the RV generator is running, the voltage on the RV battery is affecting the truck sensors and disables the brakes. This can be a life threatening issue for the vehicle driver or others on the highway.

While traveling with a 5th wheel camper, that has solar panels the brake controller stops providing a connection to the trailer brakes. This is a know problem of the 2024 Chevrolets and so far there is not a fix. This is a big big safety issue. The documentation from Chevrolet states the issue is once the battery charges and has a higher voltage than the truck battery it will surge the system and deactivate the braking system on the camper.

We have a 2022 Grand Design Imagine 22MLE and when we tow it with the truck we are getting the intermittent message on the dash that the trailer brake wiring is not connected. It continually connects and disconnects as we tow and press the brakes on the truck. We previously towed the camper with a 2011 Silverado 1500 and did not have this happen. We took the truck back to the dealer for a service check and they had no answered for us. This is a serious safety concern while we are towing an extra 6,000 pounds behind us.

The truck intermittently disconnects and reconnects from the trailer. Trailer brakes don't work briefly when this happens. At night when truck and trailer lights are on the truck detects trailer is disconnected, this happens every few minutes. Note: I've seen a bulletin about solar panels on the trailer, I do not have solar panels on the trailer. Also, blind spot mirror indicators at night are almost constantly on. When the trailer and truck lights go off, the blind spot indicators work as intended.

Trailer Brake controller DIC shows "check trailer wiring" and Brakes are not functioning. Intermittent issue but mostly no brakes. Lights all work fine. New RV bought in [XXX] testing brakes and DIC indicated issue. Stokes Chevy dealer replaced Brake controller and for 1st 1 1/2 hours on [XXX] no issue. Pulled over for lunch and when restarted truck the issue came back. no brakes or at best intermittent for 700 miles. numerous times pulled over and reconnected 7 pin. using GM recommended 7 pin on RV. Brakes and wires tested by RV dealer. Ford was used to haul trailer initially to RV park and no issues. Took truck to dealer once home ( Cavender GMC) they cannot find issue. Also the check parking brake icon comes on. Heard there is bulletin w/ issue involving solar chargers and batteries on RV being possible issue. RV is 2023 Grand Design 373FB-R.
