Defect. General Motors (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2021 GMC Sierra 1500 and Silverado 1500 vehicles equipped with certain accessory road tires and a 17" spare tire. The 17" spare tire provided with the vehicle is not compatible for use with the accessory wheels, which can cause the anti-lock brake system (ABS) to not function properly under certain conditions.

Risk. An ABS system that does not function properly can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will provide a new 17" spare tire and wheel assembly that is compatible with the accessory wheels, free of charge. Dealers will also apply a new spare tire information label, and provide owners with an owner's manual insert clarifying which spare tire to use with the accessory road tires and with the 17" original tires. The seat belt brackets may not be secured to the seat frame in the front-row center seating position.

Risk. If a seat-belt bracket is not secured, the seat belt may not properly restrain an occupant in the front-row center seat position, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect left-side and right-side front-row center seat-belt bracket attachments and reassemble it correctly as necessary, free of charge. Risk. If the driveshaft separates, there may be a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of crash.

These vehicles received updated software for the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). This software has an error, and as a result, the vehicle's electronic brake assist may be disabled. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control" and 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk. A loss of electronic brake assist can increase the risk of a crash.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Cadillac CT6, and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. Due to an Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) software error, the vehicle's Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Antilock Brake System (ABS) may become disabled. Furthermore, if this specific error occurs, the vehicle's diagnostics will not illuminate the instrument cluster ESC and ABS malfunction warning lights. Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks. The battery positive (B+) cable rings may have been manufactured with excessive glue, potentially causing an intermittent electrical connection between the B+ cable and alternator.

Risk. An intermittent electrical connection between the B+ battery cable and the alternator could cause the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. The intermittent connection could also lead to electrical arcing, which could generate sufficient heat to damage surrounding material, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect for the presence of glue or other contamination at the B+ cable attachment to the alternator and clean the connection and reattach the B+ cable connection, as necessary. If arcing has damaged the cable, nut, or alternator, the dealer will replace the damaged components. All services will be performed free of charge. GM issued owners an interim notification on February 4, 2020. GM issued second notice and the recall began March 9, 2019. Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, and 2020 Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, Sierra 2500, and Sierra 3500 vehicles equipped with carpet floor covering. When the front seat belt pretensioners deploy, hot gas may vent through an opening in the pretensioner bracket, possibly igniting the carpet.

Risk. A vehicle fire could result if materials ignite inside the vehicle.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will close off the opening in the pretensioner bracket, free of charge. The recall began December 13, 2019. Risk. In the event of a crash, an air bag that does not inflate properly can increase the risk of injury.

Dynamic Fuel Management Lifter Failure and Cam Damage

The engine was making a noise which was obviously coming from internally. Chevrolet dealer examined the engine and found metal shavings throughout. Lifter roller was stuck and grinding down the camshaft. The engine was at risk of failure which could have been catastrophic if it occurred while driving . Especially at higher speeds . This could have resulted in a crash.

Lifter issue with damaged cam shaft. Described to me as well known defect still being worked out with GM. Engine could have failed/exploded at any moment. It is being repaired but is very expensive.

2019 5.3L V8 engine. DFM lifter failed while towing travel trailer on interstate. Lifter ended up seizing in pushrod and shearing camshaft lobe. This put my family at risk while being parked on shoulder of the interstate. Research and talking to others has shown that this is a common occurrence with these 5.3L V8 engines. Having to replace the engine with no reimbursement from GM

My 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 has only 61k miles on it. While driving at expressway speed I can feel a vibration, when at a stop and slowly accelerating it feels like driving on a rubble strip and then while going through the gears it has hard/harsh shifting! I have taken it to my local GM dealership in [XXX] and they are going to do a transmission flush and new fluid but I am worried that the problem may be worse than just bad fluid at this point, more like worn clutch plates, etc.? If this does not fix the problem my extended warranty end at 80k miles and I will be stuck with a truck that has a major transmission problem! No trans should go at 60k miles! Why isn't there a recall on the 1500 8 speed transmission for these chevy Trucks? I understand there are many Technical Service Bulletins issued by GM for the transmission issues but no recall. I was driving my truck on a clear sunny day and the alarms started to go off and it said I had no oil pressure, so I pulled off the road quickly and turned it off. I called a wrecker service and they took it to the dealership where I live and they told me the oil cooler line had ruptured and it locked up my motor. I had to replace it with a new motor. Upon further investigation I found there was service bulletin out for 2019 Silverados for the oil cooler line rupturing. I was never notified of the problem.

Vehicle has been to the dealership many times for issues with the engine and burning oil, we have brought it in to chevy wallace dealer for all this and have paperwork for all this, however torque convertor has been replaced 2x in one year due to faulty parts. the dealeership finally told us that the afm lifters cause the engine to go and needed a engine replacement. my wife has been so upset over this matter because she loved the truck. all this has been inspected by dealer so many times and we kept geting the run around. we had multiple check engine lights and misfire codes. then the last straw was when the engine had a horrible knocking noise which we have on video.now that she traded the truck in because dealer said it was not covered under warranty because it lapsed by 1 month we had to get a different vheicle due to knowbody helping us and now were screwed with a insane payment. we have been dealing with this for a few years and no help from chevy even with a extended warranty that covered it all. i am not asking for the world but chevy has to be responible for something. my wife really needs help with this we lost a damn nice truck and want some kind of compinsation for it

Out of specs crankshaft machining, excessive journaling chamfering & debri in the oil galleries have caused rod bearing failure resulting in total engine seizure. This is consistent with the NHTSA 25V-274 recall, of which identifies the 6.2L V8-L87 engine as defective, resulting in 12 recorded accidents. However, this recall does not cover the 2019 model year.

My head, my transmission in my Silverado 1500 6 speed has had rough shifting since I bought it had 29,000 miles on it. It also has been looked at for the rough and they said it was normal now at 100,000 miles by train ships out of gear while driving and coming to an idle at random spots, took it into a train shop Westland transmission. They said I need all new transmission which I think this should've been fixed a long time ago with the rough shifting the recall and lawsuit needs to add the six speed trans to the eight speed intense speed that GM is officially getting served on.

A month later, while driving 60 MPH, the transmission malfunctioned between 4th and 5th gear, either missing shifts or shifting erratically, accompanied by a severe vibration. While Driving I feel shaking while accelerating between 25-40 mph, and its like I'm driving over rumble strips, plus when stopped and start to accelerate it hesitates and then surges forward.

Came off the parkway and came to a stop at a stop sign. As I attempted to accelerate forward the truck shuttered violently, did not move forward and then slammed into gear. As it slammed into gear it jerked forward. The force of the jerk pushed me back in the seat and caused the steering wheel to turn. About 100 yards later I came to a stop in traffic. As I attempted to accelerate the same incident occurred again. After the second incident anytime I same to a stop and attempted to accelerate forward the shutter was no longer present but the truck would not move at first and would then slam into gear and jerk violently. This would occur in drive and reverse. I brought it to the dealership and they diagnosed that it needed a transmission. The service writer even told me it bucked so hard while the technician was moving it that it almost put him through the steering wheel. The truck is currently having the transmission replaced at Greenbrook GMC. Estimated repair cost is $9400 plus taxes and fees. Can provide invoice and bill once repair is completed.

WHEN I UNLOCKED THE DOOR AND ENTERED THE TRUCK GAS STARTED LEAKING / pouring from the top of the fuel tank. ON THE GROUND BEFORE I STARTED THE MOTOR. IF I HAD DRIVEN THE TRUCK VERY POSIBLE IT COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. ITS A 2019 WITH 61598 MILES. I FOUND A FUEL PUMP RECALL N192283991 SAID FOR CERTAIN 2019-2020 SILVERADO MODELS IT APPEARS I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS HAVE NOT CHECKED WITH A DEALER YET. TRUCK WILL HAVE TO BE TOWED.

My truck lost steering as I was trying to pull into a parking lot. It started as a momentary jerking of the steering wheel then total loss of steering. The ABS error and Trailer Braking failure warning also appeared. After 4 to 5 restarts of the truck the steering came back. If this was to happen at high speed it would have been very bad. I feel this is definetly a safety issue..

Transmission entered limp mode when decelerating at highway speed. Shutter shift, rapid rpm increase. First shift in the morning is a hard shift with loss of power.

My truck suddenly stopped, received a message on the dashboard that said transmission hot. Idle engine. I was unable to remove my key. Minutes later it started up like nothing.

The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,600.

6.2 motor failed in cylinder number 2

AFM causing engine tick. I am reporting a radiator failure on my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 equipped with the 6.2L V8. The vehicle developed an active coolant leak from the radiator assembly. The coolant reservoir level dropped significantly after normal driving, and coolant was visibly leaking and collecting underneath the vehicle. The truck initially began running warmer than normal, approximately 215–220°F, before the leak was fully identified. After topping the system with the correct DEX-COOL coolant, the coolant level continued to drop and an external leak became clearly visible. The vehicle was subsequently parked to avoid engine overheating or further damage. The original radiator carries GM part number 84152439. I have since been advised that the current GM replacement radiator is part number 85575815. I was also informed by GM dealership personnel that radiator failures involving this application are currently being investigated. My concern is that a sudden radiator failure can result in rapid coolant loss and overheating, potentially causing engine damage or vehicle disablement while driving. This is particularly concerning because the temperature gauge may initially remain near normal even while coolant is being lost. I am requesting that NHTSA review radiator failures on 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models, particularly vehicles equipped with the 6.2L engine and heavy-duty/enhanced cooling package, to determine whether there is a pattern of premature radiator

The company had a complimentary repair of the known issue of bad oil cooler lines. It oblast short period. I now own the vehicle and it still has leaking oil cooler lines why should it not be replaced by GM since the lines leaking or coming apart and possibly blowing up and engine is a known problem. Would like gm to replace it under the program they already had offered

While driving 65 mph down the highway pulling a trailer. I lost all power and chimes went off on the dash to push button to start. I coasted to the side of the road and vehicle was completely dead. It was towed to the nearest dealership and it was determined that it needed a whole new engine. It took 119 days for the repair to be made.

At 82,000 miles, cylinder number 6 lifter collapsed resulting in a bent push rod. I have since replaced the cam, lifters, push rods with an AFM delete kit for Texas Speed knowing that the same problem would occur if factory parts were used again. One would think that a newer vehicle should last longer than 82K miles with all the technology today. Oil changes were always on time between 3 and 5k miles. Unfortunately, I'm cursed with knowing how to work on vehicles. Is there anything that GM can do with my out-of-pocket material costs of $2500.00? Love the truck ... but very discouraged and may have to go back with a Ford!

While under warrantee the dealer quirk Chevy in Manchester NH, intentionally misdiagnosed the engine failure symptoms. The Service director did this three times all while under warrantee. now out of warrantee. my engine has completely failed. Silverado 1500 High-country with 6.2 L Gas engine with AFM. the service director in a private off site conversation admitted the intentional misdiagnose.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 111,940.

We recently had a brand new engine installed In our truck that only had 70k miles and only 7 years old due to white smoke coming out of tail pipe. The day after receiving the truck back after having the brand new engine installed the truck was not operating properly then gave me a bunch of warnings and then the brakes wouldn’t work and the steering wouldn’t work. I informed the dealership that installed the brand new engine and they had the truck towed back to their shop just to look at it for 3 days and proceed to tell me there was no issues they could find. Picked the truck back up just to have the same issue happen not even a month later. I was able to document the warnings and issues while they were happening and provided those to the dealership when we drop it off for the second time after getting a brand new $13k engine installed. Torque converter failure led to transmission failure in 6 speed transmission. Engine lifter failure.

They also said I needed a transmission flush at only 43,000 miles stating an inferior trans fluid was originally used; however they wouldn’t covered it under my extended warranty

I was driving my 2019 Chevy Silverado TrailBoss with 81,000 miles at 65MPH on I-80 East in Omaha, NE, when 3 warning lights came on. The first was the Service Parking Brake. The second was Service ESC. The final was a flashing Check Engine light. My truck started backfiring/misfiring, making a loud ticking noise, and running extremely rough. I was trying to merge off the interstate, but it was running so rough that it made it very difficult to do so safely. Eventually, I just had to finish going where I was headed and park it in the lot. I did some research and called my local shop. They said to stop driving immediately and have it towed to them for inspection. They used a diagnostic tool and diagnosed the issue as a DFM lifter failure. But they could not fix it there and recommended I take it to a different shop. I had it towed again, and they did their own diagnostics and have the same idea, but without taking the engine completely apart, they can't tell for sure. They want to charge me $1,250.00 to inspect it further. I called the dealer where I purchased the truck back in 2019 and am working with them on next steps. The last shop quoted me $7,800 repair if it is indeed the DFM lifters. Based on what I know, this is a known issue with these trucks. GM has an "Out of Warranty Policy Assistance" in place just for these know lifter issues. This is very concerning that GM hasn't done a recall on these parts as it has shown to be a safety issue when driving the vehicle in traff

I am reporting a potential safety defect involving my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 Trail Boss (VIN [XXX]), currently at approximately 63,000 miles. My truck suddenly developed a rough idle, engine ticking, and a cylinder 3 misfire. The check engine, traction control, parking brake, and “Service ESC” warnings appeared. The transmission also began shifting extremely hard, at times feeling as though another vehicle had struck the truck from behind. The oil pressure gauge also stopped functioning. Due to these symptoms, I stopped driving the vehicle. A diagnostic scan produced P0303, P0449, P0498, P0499 and P0500. After replacing a failed cylinder 3 spark plug, the truck initially ran perfectly for approximately 20 minutes before the rough idle and warning lights returned. The vehicle was subsequently diagnosed by a Chevrolet dealership. The dealership determined that the engine suffered a collapsed lifter that damaged the camshaft and other internal engine components. The engine repair estimate is approximately $10,000–$12,000. The dealership has also reported that the transmission is slipping and believes the torque converter/transmission requires approximately another $6,300 in repairs. I am concerned that a lifter/DFM-related failure causing a misfire, rough running and potential loss of engine power could occur while a vehicle is traveling at highway speed and create a significant safety hazard. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH and attempting to accelerate to 55 MPH, the engine started choking, and the vehicle lunged back and forth, and slowly lost drive power. The vehicle was driven to a local certified mechanic while driving at slower speeds. The certified mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the Active Fuel Management (AFM) and Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) systems had failed and caused the engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic informed the contact that Chevrolet vehicles with similar engines were known for engine failure. The manufacturer was not informed of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

Third transmission failure in 10 months on this vehicle (8-speed automatic). (1) Oct 2025, 67,885 miles: transmission shuddering; dealer replaced the complete transmission with a GM remanufactured unit under extended warranty (RO 240481, Nucar Lannan Chevrolet of Woburn, MA). (2) Jul 2026, 82,439 miles: vehicle would not shift on the highway while driving; DTC P2824 stored; dealer replaced the transmission valve body under warranty (RO 248929). (3) Aug 3, 2026, approx. 82,500 miles — three days after the valve body repair was returned to me — the transmission locked up and the vehicle would not shift gears while in traffic. Loss of gear engagement while driving creates risk of a crash from sudden loss of propulsion. Vehicle is back at the dealership now for the third repair. This vehicle's 8-speed transmission (8L90/8L45 family) is the subject of known shudder/valve-body defect litigation covering 2015–2019 Silverado models.

Vehicle lost power assist to steering without warning.Very difficult to drive vehicle safely once that happened

At 70,000 miles the engine failed. Dealership said it was due to the current issues with the 6.2 motors but mine was not included in the recall but was being evaluated to be part of the recall so I did have to buy a new engine.
