2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.

Risk. A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat belt lap pretensioner, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212330040.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

Risk. Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.

Risk. As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

Risk. A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. The vehicles may have a temporary loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist, especially during low-speed turning maneuvers.

Risk. If EPS assist is lost and then returns, the driver might lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.

6.2L LT1 GEN V AFM 138880 miles. Driving at highway speed no warning engine CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. Simotanious reaction first check engine light,no oil pressure,limp mode, piston connectioning rod thru side of block in 2seconds.Took to home town dealer. They reported to GM suposeabley. Dealer found lifter,valve spring,valve missing on right bank pulled oil pan found missing parts in little pieces.oil pan had 3 distinct holes in it. Ther had been no issues previous to this event.serviced regularly 5000miles by local dealer.

Everything on the dash flickered and during that the vehicle started losing light meaning headlights and emergency lights, shortly after it completely stopped without any power. We were on the side of the interstate and it was very scary. There were no warning message be fore any of this occurred. There also wasn't any problems before then. We are waiting on the next business day to have it inspected.

The seatbelt on the driver's side broke off from the anchor cabling.

Almost had an accident in parking lot where my brakes were hard/spongy. I saw a recall for 2014 chevy silverado for brake booster pump but I was never informed of such recall at the time. I've had my truck since 2016. I notified dealership and they informed me that the timeframe has expired for them to repair.

While driving, the vehicle suddenly developed a severe, loud mechanical ticking noise from the engine compartment, immediately followed by a drastic loss of engine power and violent vehicle shaking. The vehicle experienced an active cylinder misfire caused by a failure within the Active Fuel Management (AFM) system, where a cylinder deactivation lifter collapsed and became stuck.This mechanical failure creates an extreme safety hazard. The sudden drop in throttle response, engine stuttering, and loss of power impair my ability to maintain highway speeds, merge safely, or accelerate away from oncoming traffic. The engine stumbles significantly under load, risking a rear-end collision on public roads. The vehicle remains unrepaired at this time due to the catastrophic nature of the valvetrain defect and the severe risk of complete engine seizure while in motion. General Motors has failed to issue a safety recall for this known structural valvetrain defect, which poses an immediate hazard to drivers on the road.

Brakes after use a few times gets hard to push and dont work aswell then they heat up over time and start smoking.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and shifting into a lower gear, the vehicle was jerking with an audible sound coming from the vehicle. Over the last week, my truck power has been almost shutting down after the stabilitrac warning appears on the dash while I’m turning or going over uneven pavement. The whole system shut down once already when turning around in a driveway. I have a new battery. Spark plugs are good. ABS is good. There are no recalls I can find, but this must be electrical somehow. Help me pls before it causes an accident.

I own a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado equipped with a GM V8 engine that experienced significant engine failure symptoms consistent with known GM engine defect issues and related recall/service campaign concerns. Prior to failure, the vehicle began exhibiting abnormal engine noises, warning lights, performance issues, and symptoms indicating internal engine damage. The condition worsened and resulted in major engine failure requiring extensive repair or engine replacement. The failure created safety concerns due to the potential for sudden loss of power and loss of propulsion while driving. Based on the symptoms, model year, and engine configuration, I believe the failure may be related to known GM engine issues involving internal engine components, lifter failures, AFM/DOD system failures, bearing damage, or related defects that have been the subject of recalls, special coverage adjustments, technical service bulletins, or investigations affecting GM trucks and SUVs. I believe the vehicle should qualify for coverage, repair assistance, recall-related repairs, or special policy consideration from General Motors due to the nature of the engine failure and the known history of similar failures affecting comparable GM vehicles. I am requesting that GM review the vehicle history, diagnostics, and failure condition to determine eligibility for recall coverage, special coverage adjustment, warranty assistance, or reimbursement related to the engine failure.

Frame failed on truck completely rusted through. The safety of my family was put at risk because the chevy dealer it was always serviced at never told me about the rust problem even though they did multi point inspections everytime it was serviced at the dealer. Only time I was ever notified about this was when it was to late to fix. Vehicle has been looked at by a frame an Collison center and said a whole new frame is needed that it is not repairable. The Collison center also told me this is a common problem with these trucks due to the layered steel the manufacturer used to make the frame.

I have put 2 cat converters in 2 yrs in this truck there was a recall for an engine control module that when it gets heated could start a fire but it gets too hot and the converter gets clogged and oil starts going through engine. The dealer us out of business and went to jail. I can't keep putting new converts in and can't get inspection sticker because it causes the check engine light yo come on. What do I do now?

Automatic sliding back glass exploded while sitting in the yard. This could have injured passengers in the rear seat. Dealer said no recall is present. Repair is out of pocket. Vehicle has not been inspected. No warning signs or messages or other symptoms prior to the incident of back glass exploding

Throttle body?/ Accelerator pedal sensor?

Transmission is slipping, this year of Silverado is known for this. Transmission clunks while driving and slips in and out of gear.

Vehicle is shifting extremely hard vehicle has 115*** miles. If the transmission fails in the interstate it can cause a major accident or even death Multiple owners have the same issue with faulty components related to the transmission no warning lights on the dash the hard shifting gets worse as the transmission temp gets hotter

Brake pedal was very hard to press down and was almost no response from brakes, brake assist service came on, vacuum pump failure, ot was replaced.

The power steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed electronic power steering module. The contact was informed that the electronic power steering module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed of an unknown recall that had a similar failure description. In addition, the contact was informed that an unknown recall repair was performed on the vehicle in 2017. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Unknown..... the transmission in my truck began the shutter and shake like I was running over the rumble strip. The truck was at one point locked into 4x4 and even stuck in reverse and almost got me ran over by a diesel when I couldn't get out of his way until the very last second. Im not the only one with this issue. Gm has been knowingly mass producing these defective transmissions and selling them to the public with no notication to the consumers. This is obviously defrauding the consumers out of not only there money but also many of there livelihoods. As many families depend on there trucks in order to financially support there families. As mine does. Gm sold defective equipment. Completely aware that they where defective this is fraud and they should be held liable for there actions.

NOTE-We are visiting DE, but reside in Virginia. I recently experienced problems with my "Wheel Speed Sensor System" on my 2014 Chevy Silverado, LT, 5.3L V8 4WD, Crew Cab. My local garage in DE (our Condo is in DE- our home-residence is Virginia) looked at the vehicle and said I was having a problem with the wheel speed sensors partially locking up my brakes and causing a drag when driving. The garage in Newark, DE- Littles Garage told me that their system said there was a recall on my vehicle and that I'd need to have service done at a Chevrolet Dealership at no cost. I went to 2 Dealerships who stated my Truck's VIN did not show up in their system as having any active recalls. Reading the Recall notice, I see that GM contacted the Dealerships directly (I guess not to make the recall public) who have/had sold this vehicle with instructions to contact owners directly; however, I purchased the Vehicle in SC from a Ford Dealership in 2017. Since RECALL # N192261050 is stated as a safety problem that could cause my truck to be a dangerous safety hazard that could cause serious damage and even death to occupants of the vehicle. I understand from my garage that the issue is intermittent once discovered, even as I have not experienced anything for about a week, and it can re-appear at any time.
