2007 Toyota Tundra

Defect. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain JTEKT power steering gear assembly service parts for 2007-2021 Tundra and 2008-2022 Sequoia, part numbers 44250-0C160, 44250-0C131, 44250-0C170, and 11250-0C121. The power steering gear assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can result in an oil leak.

Risk. An oil leak may cause a sudden loss of power steering assist, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the power steering gear assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 17, 2022. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 21TH01.

Defect. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2008-2022 Sequoia and 2007-2021 Tundra vehicles. The power steering gear assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can result in an oil leak.

Defect. Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, 2005-2010 Avalon and Tundra, 2006-2008 Camry Solara, 2006-2010 Highlander hybrid, 2006-2011 Rav4 and Tacoma, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2007-2011 Camry hybrid, 2009-2010 Venza, 2010-2012 Prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 Camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 Corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. The electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.

Risk. If damaged, the copper strand heating element may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy. SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the seat heaters, free of charge, and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET number for this recall is SET16B.

Defect. Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Prius and Corolla, 2009-2011 Venza, 2006-2010 Avalon, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2005-2011 Sienna and Sequoia, 2006-2011 Tacoma 4x2 and 4x4, Camry, Highlander, Tundra 4x2 and 4x4, and 2007-2011 Rav4 and 4Runner. The affected vehicles may experience compression of the seat cushion which may damage the seat heater wiring.

Risk. Damage to the seat heater wiring could cause the wires to short, increasing the risk of the seat burning and causing personal injury to the occupant.

Remedy. SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the heaters with copper strand heating elements and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory, free of charge. The recall is expected to began in January 2015. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226.

Defect. Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Camry, Camry Hybrid, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Tundra, Sequoia, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Yaris, Scion xB, Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. The power window master switch assemblies in some of these vehicles were built using a less precise process for lubricating the internal components of the switch assemblies. Irregularities in this lubrication process may cause the power window master switch assemblies to malfunction and overheat.

Risk. If the switch overheats, it may melt, possibly resulting in a fire.

Remedy. Toyota will notify its owners, and dealers will inspect the switch and apply a special grease that inhibits heat build up or replace any switch damaged by the defect, free of charge. Toyota owners that experience a problem with a switch should not attempt to make repairs, but should contact their Toyota dealer or the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331. General Motors will contact the Pontiac Vibe owners affected by this recall and GM dealers will inspect and repair switches as necessary. Those owners may contact Pontiac Customer Care at 1-800-762-2737.

Defect. SOUTHEAST TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007-2011 TUNDRA VEHICLES FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 138, "TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEMS." THE TPMS ON SOME VEHICLES MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY CALIBRATED AND AS A RESULT THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LAMP MAY NOT ILLUMINATE SHOULD THE INFLATION PRESSURE IN ONE OR MORE OF THE VEHICLE'S TIRES FALL BELOW THE THRESHOLD FOR WHEN THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LAMP SHOULD ILLUMINATE.

Risk. DRIVERS WILL NOT RECEIVE A WARNING FROM THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR THAT ONE OR MORE TIRES ARE UNDERINFLATED, INCREASING THE RISK THAT THE VEHICLE WILL BE DRIVEN WITH ONE OR MORE UNDERINFLATED TIRES, INCREASING THE RISK OF A TIRE FAILURE THAT MAY LEAD TO A CRASH.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL RECALIBRATE THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REGULATION FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN DURING JULY 2011. Defect. TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 AVALON, MODEL YEAR 2007-2010 CAMRY, MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 COROLLA, COROLLA MATRIX, RAV4, MODEL YEAR 2010 HIGHLANDER, MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 SEQUOIA, AND MODEL YEAR 2007-2010 TUNDRA VEHICLES. DUE TO THE MANNER IN WHICH THE FRICTION LEVER INTERACTS WITH THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL INSIDE THE PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY, THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE LEVER MAY BECOME SMOOTH DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. IN THIS CONDITION, IF CONDENSATION OCCURS ON THE SURFACE, AS MAY OCCUR FROM HEATER OPERATION (WITHOUT A/C) WHEN THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY IS COLD, THE FRICTION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS OPERATED MAY INCREASE, WHICH MAY RESULT IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECOMING HARDER TO DEPRESS, SLOWER TO RETURN, OR, IN THE WORST CASE, MECHANICALLY STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION.

Risk. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY BECOME HARD TO DEPRESS, SLOW TO RETURN TO IDLE, OR, IN THE WORST CASE, MECHANICALLY STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL INSTALL A REINFORCEMENT BAR IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHICH WILL ALLOW THE PEDAL TO OPERATE SMOOTHLY. GM WILL NOTIFY OWNERS FOR THE PONTIAC VIBE PLEASE SEE 10V-018. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON FEBRUARY 5, 2010 AND WILL BE COMPLETED ON MARCH 15, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.

Defect. TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2010 PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAN GET STUCK IN THE WIDE OPEN POSITION DUE TO ITS BEING TRAPPED BY AN UNSECURED OR INCOMPATIBLE DRIVER'S FLOOR MAT.

Risk. A STUCK OPEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY RESULT IN VERY HIGH VEHICLE SPEEDS AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.

Remedy. TOYOTA FILED AN AMENDED DEFECT REPORT ON NOVEMBER 25, 2009, STATING THAT DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND, ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, ALTER THE SHAPE OF THE FLOOR SURFACE UNDER THE PEDAL. THESE CHANGES ADDRESS THE RISK OF PEDAL ENTRAPMENT DUE TO INTERFERENCE WITH THE FLOOR MAT. REDESIGNED ACCELERATOR PEDALS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE BEGINNING IN APRIL 2010 AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY MODIFIED PEDAL WITH THE NEW PEDAL IF DESIRED. ALSO, DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY GENUINE TOYOTA OR LEXUS ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS WITH REDESIGNED ALL-WEATHER MATS, OR REPURCHASE THE PREVIOUS MATS FROM OWNERS WHO DO NOT WANT THE NEW ONES. ADDITIONALLY, SOFTWARE MODIFICATIONS WILL BE INSTALLED ON CAMRY, AVALON AND LEXUS ES 350, IS 350 AND IS 250 MODELS THAT WILL ENSURE THAT THE BRAKE OVERRIDES THE ACCELERATOR IN THE EVENT BOTH BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS ARE APPLIED. TOYOTA WILL BEGIN MAILING LETTERS TO OWNERS ON DECEMBER 31, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331, LEXUS AT 1-800-255-3987.

As a result of a class action lawsuit Toyota settled on frame replacement or spraying a rust inhibitor depending on the severity of frame rust. The sprayed on rust inhibitor, used in my case, was sprayed over mud and pack rust at the dealership - Williams Toyota, Big Flats NY. I took the truck to a local shop to have the brakes replaced and nys inspection completed. The repair shop called and said that the truck was not road worthy due to frame rust.

Intermittent Transmission issue. Truck will not shift into 5th or 6th gear. Temporary fix is turning the car off and on again. Problem will eventually return. Is this a Software or Hardware issue? Is there a campaign or recall on this issue?

All Driveshaft Support Bearings failed and needed replaced.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was approximately 145,000. The contact attempted to resell the vehicle; and it was discovered through a Carfax Report that the mileage on the Title was approximately 330,000 in 2018.

Gulf States Toyota issued a recall (GST002) for the Enkei 18” wheels installed on my 2007 tundra. Toyota Vandergriff in Arlington has attempted to contact Gulf States Toyota multiple times since 8/21/25 but no reply has been provided. Currently, the wheels need to be replaced under the recall but Gulf States Toyota has made no effort to rectify the situation.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while parking the vehicle, there was a loud sound coming from the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and determined that the fuel tank scrap and bolt had fractured and detached. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. In addition, the contact stated that when the vehicle was purchased in May 2024, the contact later noticed flaking material on the ground underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. In addition, the contact confirmed that in March 2019, the vehicle was serviced under an unknown corrosion prevention recall repair. The contact confirmed that at the time, the dealer performed the recall repair by spraying anti-corrosion prevention on the suspension. The unknown recall repair was warranted for 60 months. The failure mileage was approximately 279,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle failed to respond. The check engine warning light was illuminated. On a separate occasion, the contact stated that while driving uphill or driving forward, the vehicle lost motive power while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with air injection pumps and air injection switching valves failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered the contact an Extended Warranty. The contact was informed that the dealer would reach out to her; however, when the dealer contacted the contact, the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under an Extended Warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 74,268.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that occasionally while driving at various speeds on bumpy road surfaces, the fuel tank was scraping against the pavement. The contact stated that upon inspection from the outside, the contact became aware that the fuel tank was hanging abnormally low and the bracket holding up the brake lines and fuel lines were completely rusted. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that due to the abnormal amount of rust on the sub frame, the vehicle was not safe to be driven. The contact was informed that the entire sub frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 142,255.

Check engine light came on suddenly and acceleration slowed… truck will no longer go over 30 mph. Replaced radiator, driver air injection module, and regularly changed oil. no check engine light now the injection module was replaced but truck still will not go over 30 mph or 1800-2000 rpm’s.

Undercoating of vehicle was not properly installed causing the frame to rust out creating a serious safety concern as the fuel tank can fall from the vehicle due to extensive rust. Toyota is aware of this situation however refuses to repair the problem.

There is still many of these Toyota tundras out there that have frame problems! Like mine which had a bad frame but spent half its life in Florida during the winners and within 4 years of being in New York showed rust in within another 4 years had holes in the frame! Toyota coated my frame three different times to buy time to get it off the timeline for the recall! It's a 2007 tundra SR5 with a bad frame

The vehicle did not pass PA state inspection due to broken front shock mounts and severe frame corrosion.

Subject: Dealer Warranty Enhancement Program ZH7 Certain 2007 – 2008 Model Year Tundra Extension of Warranty Coverage for Frame Corrosion - Ended on 1/21/2019 (attached). Details: See Attached Pictures - Frame has rusted out with considerable "perforation" 10mm or larger. The condition clearly started many years ago. The vehicle was rust protected at an independent non-dealer shop. No known frame issues were witnessed prior to the 2019 deadline. Vehicle was not taken to the Toyota Dealer based on aftermarket rust protection application and no witnessed issues. The enhancement was not stated as a mandatory recall (which it should have been). The vehicle has 80k and has been lightly used in Virginia (cold climate state). The entire structural integrity of the truck is put at risk with this condition. An independent shop investigated the condition and provided the pictures. Repairs are underway but Toyota America should be responsible for extending this enhancement to a mandatory recall of all impacted vehicles. This is clearly a public safety hazard, breakdown in quality and totally unacceptable.

The frame of the vehicle has a recall on it because of excessive rusting. The previous owner had not gotten the recall fixed. The rusted frame causes issues with steering, maintenance, and general control and safety of the vehicle. Toyota dealerships claim this recall has expired. A rusted frame violated NY State inspection. Since this indefinitely violates the NHTSA guidelines and regulations, how can it expire? Toyota refuses to fix the recall on the frame due to “expiration” and would rather endanger roadways see as many of these vehicles still are driven on public roadways and come with a hefty cost due to the expiration. Many vehicles like this with under 100k miles have the same critical issue, leaving Americas at a loss. This recall should not “expire”

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Gas tank cover plate is rusting out causing the tank to almost fall out. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety and others safety was put at risk as if the tank were to fall out, it could catch the vehicle on fire. Also as the plate rusts even more day by day, the heat from the exhaust and other parts that heat up it can damage the gas tank and once again is a fire hazard. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, there are no open recalls from what I can’t tell by the vin but same year has same problems and are under recall. Not sure why this one isn’t under recall. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, there would be no lights for an issue like this.

The frame is shot on my 07 Toyota tundra the frame rails has several big holes in the frame as well all the crossmembers are rusted and I’m still currently paying on the truck I still owe $14,000 on it and I can’t afford to get it fixed so will you please please please help me out with this situation and either open the recall up or see if I can qualify for the assistance program I’m paying on a vehicle I cannot drive it’s unsafe to drive and the issue needs fixed the recall or whatever it’s was called should’ve never been expired to begin with and I wasn’t even aware of the recall had I was I would’ve got it fixed !! I’m begging you please help me as my family relies on this on truck I have !! Thank you and have a nice day !!

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact initially received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V388000(Vehicle Speed Control); the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the recall was serviced. Recently, the contact stated that as his wife was exiting their driveway, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The contact's wife turned the vehicle into her yard where she hit four trees and then crashed into a big tree which stopped the vehicle. The air bags deployed once she crashed into the bigger tree. The contact's wife was thrown to the right and hit her head on the rearview mirror. His wife was taken to the hospital by ambulance where she was treated for the head wound and back pain. She later sought treatment from an orthopedic doctor where they discovered three compressed fractures to her vertebrae(T1, T2, and T3). A police report was filed. The contact did his own investigation into the accident and discovered that black box had recorded that the vehicle's speed was 42.3 MPH at the time of the failure. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but both offered no assistance. The vehicle remained in the contact's possession. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 164,000.

While driving at speeds between 30 - 50 miles an hour. There is a very rough shudder coming from the transmission. It will get better by speeding up or by stopping the vehicle and turning the car off. When the shudder starts and you try to come to a stop the rear end of the vehicle shakes excessively. You think the back of the truck is going to skip off the road. Toyota did a manufacture service bulletin for this issue. However they only covered certain years and my VIN was not included in the fix. My vehicle now has 211000 miles and it is happening to my vehicle.

I bought a 2007 Toyota Tundra less than 3 months ago from Toyota of Simi Valley. 2 months ago my check engine light and other warning lights suddenly went on while I was driving and my truck went into “limp mode” while merging onto a freeway, causing other drivers to swerve around me to avoid a collision. I took the truck back to Toyota and they advised the Air injection pump and air control valve need to be replaced. Total cost to repair is almost $4,000. I purchased at Bronze level extended warranty which covers up to 24,000 miles but the insurance carrier denied the claim saying these items are excluded, despite these items not being listed on their “excluded items list”. Toyota then offered to pay 1/2 the total cost of repairs, which in of itself is an admission of guilt. I’ve only made 2 payments on the vehicle, I should not be responsible for these repairs. I took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who advised Toyota’s assessment is correct, however, it should only cost $2k to fix the vehicle, not $4k. The mechanic also advised of an emission system issue and that this vehicle will not pass smog at this time.

Transmission shifts very rough. When let off accelerator then back on the trans shift very rough. When coming to a stop and at a stop the trans jumps as if it’s downshifting while sitting still. These issues have been existing since I initially purchased the vehicle. It was reported and I was told it’s normal.
