Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 vehicles. The right and left side curtain air bag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect.

Risk. An inflator rupture may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace one or both side curtain air bags, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 25, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's numbers for this recall are 83C, 91C, and 92C. Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles. The hydraulic control unit (HCU) may fail, which can cause the anti-lock brake (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and traction control systems to fail.

Risk. A loss of anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, or traction control can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the brake HCU, or replace the HCU motor, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed January 9, 2025. Some owner notification letters were mailed January 9, 2025. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a future date, anticipated October 2026. Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks equipped with an 8 foot bed and a power locking tailgate. Chrysler is also recalling all 2013-2014 and 2018 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks built before April 1, 2018 with a 6 or 8 foot bed and a power locking tailgate. On August 29, 2019 Chrysler expanded the recall to include an additional 693,128 model year 2013-2014 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks. The tailgate actuator limiter tab may fracture and cause the tailgate to unlatch and open while driving.

Risk. If the tailgate opens while the vehicle is being driven, cargo may fall out the vehicle and create a road hazard, increasing the risk of crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will repair the tailgate latch, free of charge. The recall began May 23, 2019. Chrysler is expected to notify owners of the expanded population on October 18, 2019. Owners may contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US's number for this recall is V44. Note: 2015-2017 MY Ram 1500 pickup trucks with truck beds other than 8 foot, are currently covered under NHTSA recall 18V-486 for this issue.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Ram 3500 and 2014-2018 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab and Ram 2500 vehicles. The outboard steering linkage jam nut may loosen, allowing one end of the drag link to separate.

Risk. A drag link separation can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will check the steering linkage jam nut tightness, replacing the drag link assembly or welding the nut to the adjuster sleeve, free of charge. The recall began March 22, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V06.

Defect. Streetcar ORV LLC (Streetcar) is recalling certain American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) 3" Dualsport aftermarket suspension kits, part numbers N0436000 and N0436001, sold for installation on 2013-2018 RAM 2500 and 3500HD trucks. Improper installation and machining of the original equipment steering knuckle may weaken the joint between the steering drag link and knuckle.

Risk. The weakened connection may result in a fractured steering drag link, causing a loss of steering and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Streetcar will notify owners and dealers will inspect and install a new steering knuckle, free of charge. The recall began December 3, 2018. Owners may contact AEV customer service at 1-248-926-0256, extension 500.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Dodge Journey and RAM 1500, 2500, and 3500 vehicles. The backup camera may experience a loss of image display while backing up. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."

Risk. A loss of image in the rearview camera while backing up can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rearview mirror, free of charge. The recall began August 2, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U56.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

Risk. If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2018 RAM 1500, 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Cab Chassis, and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.

Risk. Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners and dealers will update the Body Control Module software. Dealers will also test the BTSI operation, replacing the solenoid as necessary. Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Risk. If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.

He contact owns a 2018 Ram 25000. The contact called in regards of NHTSA Campaign:24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics);however, the parts were not available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds during rainy weather condition, both rear tire would lose traction and could possibly cause a rear end accident involving family passengers. A warning message "Service Air bag system" was displayed. Several local dealer were contacted. In addition, the vehicle was diagnosed at a local dealer with an general electric failure related to the recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

My 2018 Ram 2500 is subject to safety recall C4B/24V-896 involving failure of the brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) and possible loss of ABS, electronic stability control and traction control. I previously contacted a Ram dealer in [XXX] regarding completion of this recall but was informed that the parts/remedy were not available. The recall therefore remained unrepaired. On XXX, my vehicle was sideswiped by another vehicle. The other vehicle caused the initial collision. Immediately before, during, and following the sideswipe, I applied the brakes to stop my Ram. During the emergency braking event, the wheels locked and I did not experience normal anti-lock braking operation. I was able to bring the vehicle to a stop without subsequently striking another vehicle or object. Following the incident, the ABS and traction-control warning lights have remained continuously illuminated and have not returned to normal operation. I am concerned that the recalled HCU may have failed and that the ABS/ESC/traction-control systems were unavailable during the emergency braking event. This incident involved actual wheel lockup during emergency braking associated with a collision, followed by permanent ABS/traction-control warnings on a vehicle with an unrepaired safety recall addressing loss of those same systems. I am reporting this incident so NHTSA has a record of the apparent safety-system failure and the fact that I had previously attempted to have the recall addressed but the remedy/

The abs and traction control intermittently is unavailable making my cruise control unavailable...this is all due to a recall that the dealerships keep telling me they cant get the part to fix and hasnt been fixed...pay 57,000 dollars for a truck back in 2019 and cant hardly drive it cause its unsafe and gives me anxiety everytime it goes off

My 2018 Ram 2500 has a continuous ABS/ESC/Traction Control failure related to recall C4B (NHTSA 24V‑896). The hydraulic control unit (HCU) is failing exactly as described in the recall. The ABS light, traction control light, and stability control warnings come on constantly, and the cruise control shuts off while driving. This is a safety‑critical defect that increases the risk of a crash, as NHTSA states in campaign 24V‑896. My dealer confirmed the recall but says the remedy parts are unavailable and may take months. I am driving a vehicle with disabled ABS and stability control because Stellantis cannot supply the required HCU replacement. I am requesting NHTSA assistance because the manufacturer cannot provide a timely safety repair. I also have a bad knee and can NOT drive without cruise control.

My 2018 Ram 2500 has a safety recall (C4B/NHTSA 24V - 896) for BRAKES AND TRACTION CONTROL and the remedy for this condition is "NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE" ??? I have contacted FCA recall assistance center and 2 different dealers and they all are "SORRY" but say there is nothing they can or will do. One dealer offered to replace the defective part with another defective part if I was willing to pay for it and said that it would probably fail again. How can the US Dept. of Transportation allow a "US auto manufacturer" to sell a defective heavy duty vehicle used to transport loved ones and haul heavy loads with DEFECTIVE BRAKES? To add insult to injury Rams new promotional add states "Nothing Stops Ram" (True statement - Not even the BRAKES)... I'm happy to report there has not been a serious accident to date but the driver and passengers do not feel safe when the bells go off and warning messages appear on the dashboard... Thanks.

I have the active recall associated with the vehicle listed. It’s been nearly 2 years with the active abs service light, traction control light, and inoperative cruise control due to those lights. Stelantis is not very helpful. Will not fixit yet. But says I can pay myself and some or all may be reimbursed. There is no reason it should take this long. Endangering lives potentially. I sent truck pulling all the time. And you buy these things with these safety options that should work. To be taking this long to remedy this. Is unacceptable

I am filing a formal complaint regarding m y 2018 Ram 2500 which is subject to safety recall 24V-896 for a defective anti-lock brake system module and hydraulic control unit. This critical safety recall was issued in November 2024 and as of today 8/29/2026 it has been nearly two years, and the manufacturer (Stellantis/FCA) has failed to provide a remedy. My vehicle currently displays warning lights for the ABS, Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control Systems indicating that these vital safety features are entirely disabled. Driving a heavy-duty truck without functioning ABS or stability control poses an immediate safety hazard to myself, my passengers, and others on the road, especially when towing or diving in inclement weather. Because the manufacturer has failed to provide a remedy within a reasonable timeframe, I am requesting that the NHTSA intervene to compel Stellantis to expedite parts distribution or provide immediate alternative transportation (loner/rental vehicle) at their expense until my vehicle is repaired.

There is an active recall on my vehicle related to anti-lock brake system with no remediation plan at the moment due to a part shortage. My vehicle is displaying anti-lock brake service warnings several times during drives which ultimately go away. I'm being told that the warnings are tied to the recall. How can I get the issue remediated without any support from the recall? This seems very dangerous to have customers with impacted vehicles but no support to remediate the issue.

I have been waiting on the C4B recall for nearly two years with no parts available still. My truck has no ABS, traction control, or 4WD. This is a 2500 heavy duty truck meant for pulling trailers and heavy payloads. This recall has rendered the vehicle useless. I can't trade it in due to the ongoing recall, it is not safe to drive, I am at an extreme financial loss due to Stellantis' negligence. How has the US government allowed this issue to last for so long? How many unsafe vehicles are currently driving down the road with compromised brakes?
