Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020-2021 GLE350, GLE450, GLS450, GLS580, 2021 AMG GLE53, AMG GLE63, Maybach GLS600, AMG GLS63, and 2020 GLE580 vehicles. The air conditioner drain hoses may have been incorrectly installed, causing water to drain into the passenger compartment.

Risk. Water intrusion into the foot wells may cause corrosion and/or short circuits to electrical components, increasing the risk of fire. In addition, the emergency call (eCall) feature may be disabled and the doors may not unlock, increasing the risk of injury. Also, the engine may not start or may enter a limp-home mode, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and reinstall the air conditioner drain hoses, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 28, 2023. Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020-2022 GLE350, GLE450, GLS450, 2021-2022 AMG GLE53, 2020-2021 GLE580, GLS580, and 2021 GLE400e, AMG GLS63, AMG GLE63 S, and Maybach GLS600 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the rear door window trim bars may detach.

Risk. Detached trim bars may cause a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash or injury.

An error in the communication module's SIM card software can cause a mobile network connection failure, disabling the emergency call (eCall) system.

Risk. A disabled eCall system would prevent a vehicle occupant from contacting the emergency services call center in an emergency, potentially delaying emergency responders and increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. The communication module software will be updated through an Over-the-Air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 8, 2022. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. An inoperable rearview camera display reduces the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020 GLE 350 vehicles. The wiring harness connected to the prefuse box in the engine compartment might not be properly secured, which could deactivate fused components, such as power steering assist, headlights, and wipers.

Risk. Driving with inoperable power steering assist, headlights, or wipers can increase the risk of a crash.

Defect. Mercedes-Benz LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2018-2020 C300, 2019-2020 A220, AMG C43, AMG C63, 2020 GLE580, GLB250, 2020-2021 GLE450, GLE350, 2021 AMG GLE63, and AMG GLE53 vehicles. The LED headlights may have been incorrectly adjusted during a vehicle repair. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk. Incorrectly adjusted headlights may reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the LED headlights, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed August 13, 2021. Defect. Please refer to MBUSA's recall report for specific vehicle model details. The MBUX multimedia system software may cause the display to remain black, or reboot after startup. This could result in the rearview camera image not displaying properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. A backup camera that displays a blank image reduces the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

During certain evasive driving maneuvers, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) software may apply torque to one of the front wheels, pulling the vehicle to one side. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."

Risk. If the vehicle unexpectedly pulls to one side during an evasive maneuver, it can increase the risk of a crash.

The lighting control unit may malfunction and cause the left exterior reverse light to remain illuminated after the transmission is shifted into a different gear. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk. If the reverse light remains illuminated in a gear other than reverse, it may cause confusion about the driver's intention to other motorists, and increase the risk of a crash.

Risk. In the event of a crash where the passenger air bag deploys, an unsecured dashboard could impair the inflation of the passenger air bag, increasing the risk of injury.

Defect. Mercedes-Benz AG USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021 AMG GLE53, AMG GLE63, 2020 GLE580, 2020-2021 GLE350 and GLE450 vehicles with 5 passenger seating. While buckling the seat belt, the middle seat belt buckle could be pushed down into the gap below the seat cushion. If the buckle can't be retrieved, the buckle latch will be inoperable and unable to restrain an occupant.

Risk. An unrestrained occupant has an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020 GLE 350 vehicles. The connection of the locking ring between the front and rear part of the drive shaft might not have been installed correctly, possibly resulting in a loss of power transfer between the transfer case and the rear axle differential.

Risk. If the transfer case disconnects from the rear axle differential the vehicle could stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. The affected vehicles are still in dealer inventory, therefore no owners will be notified. Dealers will replace the drive shaft, free of charge. Both vehicles were repaired in December 2020. Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020 GLE 350, GLE 450, GLE 580, GLS 450, GLS 580 vehicles equipped with an optional illuminated Mercedes-Benz star logo in the front grill. The star logo's electrical ground connection may not be installed properly, potentially affecting the function of other components that share the same ground connection, such as the power steering control unit, wiper motor, and/or the left headlight.

Risk. If the power steering, wiper motor, or left headlight malfunction there could be an increased risk of a crash.

Risk. If a driver's seat fastener bolt fails, the seat may not be properly secured, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020 GLE 350 and GLE 450 vehicles equipped with an electrically adjustable second-row seat. The wiring harness under the seat may become pinched during seat adjustment, possibly causing damage to the wires.

Risk. Damaged wires may cause the rear side air bags to not deploy as intended. Additionally, the driver may not be warned if the second row right seat is not locked into place correctly after using the "Easy Entry" function. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Risk. If the rear crossmember detaches from the vehicle, it can become a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash.

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020 GLE350 4Matic and GLE450 4Matic vehicles. In the event of a crash while the temperature in the passenger cabin is very high, the passenger frontal air bag deployment may be delayed or may not completely deploy.

Risk. An air bag that does not deploy as intended can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

The rear door window divider bar detached while driving on highway. Unsure if this bar hit another car, we noticed it after the trip ended. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership. There were no warnings or messages about the problem.

Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor failure (P0191) This issue generated a check engine light and limp home mode to be initiated. I have had the part changed and when it was changed the previous part had a manufacturing date of 2025. After replacing with new certified part the issue happened again less than a month later. I have researched and found out that Mercedes has issued a Campaign (L107.70-P-078047) for this issue but they are saying my VIN does not have a recall or campaign attached to it. My vehicle is presenting with the exact issues this campaign states and the same P0191 code that is mentioned in the campaign. It states that there is a software update needed and a flash done on the computer. This issue is causing a safety hazard for driving for when it goes into limp home mode at any speed and any location.

I keep getting coolant level low. I add coolant fluid into the tank and the warning message comes up again. I see no leaks under my vehicle so not sure if there’s a leak inside the tank itself or air leak somewhere but I’ve gotten that warning message about 10 or more times. Also as im driving the blind spot sensor just randomly goes off without a car or anything being next to me.

The a/c unit failed and is available for inspection upon request. Being in an over-heated car can cause dehydration, heat exhaustion and/or heat stroke. I was nauseous and dizzy while driving, putting myself and my passengers at risk. Upon taking my car to a independent service dealer, it was revealed that their is a leak and the evaporator must be replaced. It has not been inspected by a Mercedes dealer yet. No warning messages.

Water pool in passenger side of vehicle all into carpet and glovebox area

The engine in my 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 experienced catastrophic internal failure while driving. No warning lights or check engine indicators came on. Prior to failure, the vehicle began making a loud metallic knocking/rattling sound during acceleration, similar to “rocks shaking in a box.” Shortly afterward, the engine suddenly stalled while driving and would no longer run. The vehicle still had electrical power but the engine would not restart. The vehicle was towed to Mercedes-Benz of Las Vegas for inspection. The dealer diagnosed the engine as seized and documented metal debris in the oil filter and oil/metal debris underneath the vehicle, indicating catastrophic internal engine damage. The dealer stated that the engine replacement was required.The failed engine and vehicle are currently located at Mercedes-Benz of Las Vegas and are available for inspection upon request.The vehicle stalled unexpectedly while being driven on a public roadway, causing sudden loss of engine power and creating a potentially dangerous traffic situation. The violent shaking and knocking before failure also caused concern that the vehicle could lose control or stop operating completely in traffic, which it ultimately did. A sudden engine seizure and stall while driving creates a significant safety hazard because the driver may lose the ability to accelerate, maneuver safely, or clear traffic. This could increase the risk of collision, especially at highway speeds or in heavy traffic conditio

To Whom It May Concern: I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 and respectfully requesting review of a serious infotainment and electronic system failure that occurred at approximately 49,000 miles. Prior to the failure of the MBUX infotainment system, the vehicle began exhibiting abnormal electrical behavior. On multiple occasions, the right headlight remained illuminated even after the vehicle had been completely turned off and locked. The only temporary way to resolve this was to restart the vehicle and shut it down again. Shortly afterward, the vehicle displayed warnings indicating that the 12V battery was very low and required charging. Soon after these electrical issues appeared, the MBUX infotainment system became stuck on the Mercedes-Benz startup logo screen and has remained nonfunctional since. Although the backup camera still partially functions, the infotainment system itself will not boot properly or operate normally. We were traveling to our son’s college graduation, driving on a rural interstate and suddenly all of the vehicle’s warning lights lit on the dash and the car started losing, and then completely lost power. The car was no longer operational. We were stranded on the roadside of a remote but busy 2-lane interstate for 2 hours until a tow truck could arrive and take the car to the closest car repair shop which was 45 minutes away. This was an incredibly dangerous situation and we were fortunate to be alongside the shoulder, although we were still close to the tractor trailers and cars on the interstate. (Because we were stranded in such a remote place, we had no other options to get to our son’s graduation. We were unable to attend because of this.) The rural repair shop the car was initially towed to could not determine the problem. A few days later we found a 2nd tow truck that agreed to bring the vehicle several hundreds of miles back to our home city. This car is a 2020 model, and has around 55,000 miles. It has been meticulously maintained by a certified Mercedes mechanic. There were no issues with the car and no indication that there might be a problem. Our mechanic has thoroughly inspected the vehicle and said that the engine has completely seized and the only option is to replace it. We have no idea why this happened. Transmission keeps going into neutral when you put into drive or reverse

The glass between windshield and panoramic sunroof has 2 cracks starting on the drivers side and continuing all the way across to the passenger side. we dont recall an objects hitting the glass.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied assistance in covering the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Cooling system failure due to cracked coolant line beneath intake manifold at 57,000 miles. Part # 264-200-42-01. Sudden coolant loss can cause engine overheating and potential engine stall while driving, posing safety risks. The original part was plastic and has been superseded by manufacturer to metal, suggesting design inadequacy. This was confirmed by Mercedes Benz dealership and also by MB USA. There have been multiple reports by other owners online, indicating this has been a common problem on a 2020 GLE 350. There was a warning lamp/message stating low coolant level, which prompted me to take the vehicle to the dealership. Car has been serviced regularly at the Mercedes dealership. After starting my vehicle and placing it into drive, a warning message appeared on the dashboard stating, “Vehicle warning Do not continue to drive,” indicating that the vehicle would be unable to move forward or in reverse. Immediately following the warning, the vehicle lost all ability to move in either direction while other vehicles were approaching, creating a hazardous situation placing my safety at risk. I was required to keep my foot on the brake and ultimately place the vehicle in the park position. The vehicle was subsequently towed to the dealership. Following diagnostic testing, the dealership confirmed a transmission solenoid valve fault in the control unit and recommended replacement of the transmission valve body and park pawl solenoid, along with a transmission service. The condition was confirmed by the dealership, and there were no warning messages, indicator lights, or symptoms prior to the sudden failure.

My 2020 GLE 350 first displayed a problem with left indicator on front left hand head lamp. I took an appointment with my Mercedes dealer for repair. Then it started showing all kinds of safety problems on the screen -like blind spot monitoring, collision warning etc not working. I parked it in my garage, shut off the engine, locked it and in a couple minutes, it started a blower like sound. I called Mercedes service center and described the problem. They sent a tow truck. While waiting for tow truck, the blower would automatically start every 3 to 4 minutes in a standing, switched off car which can be very dangerous. After diagnostics the authorized service center found the root cause to be a worn out seal which let condensation in the lamp assembly and the water entered in the electrical module. I have taken up the issue with Mercedes corporate. While they are investigating, I wanted to file this complaint so that if there are similar complaints in this model, it may be a manufacturing defect that needs a recall to fix the bad sealing

Cylinder head is defective and needs replacing. It is at the dealer for service at the tune of $7700. The car will not accelerate and sounds like it is in the wrong gear. Upon searching the Internet it seems like there are tons as in 1000’s of 2020, 2021 and 2023 Mercedes GLE 350s all having the same problem. There should be a recall as most cars are seeing this problem at 20,000 to 30,000 miles and at times when it is replaced, it turns around and happens again. Starting misfiring in October and continued to get worse.

The main multimedia screen in the car has failed and is malfunctioning. Rear view parking camera only works some of the time. No access to temperature control. No access to navigation. No access to multimedia. The lack of functioning camera system has put myself and others at risk during parking and driving. Transmission Control Module / Valve Body failure occurred at 44,000 miles

My car shook while idling the last two weeks of June 2025. It felt like it was going to shut off at light/stop sign which it did on two occasions. On July 2, 2025, it stalled abruptly during a drive after which I took it to Mercedes for service. I never received a warning signal or fault message even after it stalled. Mercedes service indicated the engine cylinder head valves were burnt and not sealing properly - estimated cost of repair $10,023.00. I am the original owner of the car, had routine maintenance and only had it performed at Mercedes. My car stopped without warning- but luckily on a local road. Others who are driving with this defective engine may not be so lucky. It appears this is a known issue to Mercedes USA but they have not done anything to fix it. The engine is M264. Even if valves are replaced, this problem may continue to occur as the Mercedes serviceman does not know what caused the burnt cylinders - just that they needed to be replaced and that it was not wear and tear. Not sure if this is related, but there was a 2022 recall on this engine (my car was not part of batch that was recalled) regarding turbo charger oil feed and return lines. The issues included engine vibration at idle and loss of power.

I purchased my 2020 Mercedes GLE 350 new with only 12 miles on it. I also purchased an extended warranty which gave me 100,012 miles. On a Friday evening while being driven, the engine light came on. I took the truck immediately to the dealership on Monday morning. Prior to that the engine would roar loud upon starting on some occasions then calm down. When I mentioned it to the service department on previous service visits they told me it was fine and they notice that, that particular model does that when it gets hot outside. The vehicle also quit on me in the middle of the road before starting back up in about 3 minutes but on a separate visit. ALL my maintenance and service have ALL been done at the Mercedes service department so I'm confused how this happened. So, the dealership needed an extra day to diagnose so after 2 days I was hit with the news that is was a cylinder head...$9,963. I had 108,152 (out of extended warranty) miles on my truck. I notice this is a common issue with this particular year and model GLE350. I also see that Mercedes has a recall on other models just not this one. A recall is needed immediately. I pray this complaint will help others that will experience this same issue in the near future because there's no help for me now.

Strong raw gasoline odor in cabin, making passengers “light headed”. Called dealer about a fuel system recall on this model however they said my vin number didn’t fall under the recall.. no warning lights are on

Bought a 2020 Gle 350 used with 55000 miles on it. Within 3 weeks the check engine light comes on and the car goes into limp mode. Cannot drive it. Took it to Mercedes of Wilmington. They said it was a misfire on 4. They replaced all spark plugs and the coil to cylinder 4. Another month later the same thing happens. Took it back to Mercedes. Stated the car needs a new cylinder head at the cost of 12000$. This seems to be a common problem on these vehicles. A recall is needed immediately

At 48,000 miles the cylinder head needed replaced. This was done under warranty. At 73,000 miles the engine started making a horrible noise and power was lost and acceleration very choppy. Had it towed to the dealer. Dealer diagnosed the issue as a Rod bearing failure and requires the engine to be fully replaced. This occured while driving, fortunately I had just gotten off the highway, otherwise the vehicle would have lost acceleration and speed and would have created and unsafe situation. The engine light never came on, neither before or after the noise and loss of acceleration.

The rear seat belts are faulty. I had to pay out of pocket for the rear middle seat belt repair and now the rear right side is faulty and does not budge or move pass a point. I am concerned that each time these do not work, I will be out another thousand dollars for repair. Seat belts on some of my oldest cars continue to work. Turbo oil separator blocked, causing internal pressure pushing oil out of the rear main crankshaft seal. Since the oil level is monitored electrically (no dipstick), the engine can run out of oil, resulting in catastrophic failure while driving, causing a dangerous condition or accident

Coolant pipe under intake manifold made of plastic leaking, could have caused engine overheating and failure in traffic conditions. New style pipe supplied by manufacturer is now made of steel, dealer had in stock indicating a repetitive problem.

When operated with driver assist and stop and go assist, the car, often slams the brakes for no reason in the middle of the highway. I have reported this problem multiple times to the dealership and the dealership has kept the car in for investigation multiple times sometimes for more than two weeks. They were able to replicate the problem, but they had absolutely no solution. It’s been a few years now and it keeps happening. This is a liability issue us cars behind me are at risk to collide.

The air conditioner is constantly leaking refrigerant due to a potential damaged hose which is a known issue for Mercedez-Benz SUVs. I contacted the dealership who advised this is not an issue currently being addressed by the manufacturer and would be at the cost of the vehicle owner.

As many other GLE 350 owners reported on various forums, same thing happened to me. My car suddenly started shaking and some cylinders misfiring. My car is just 2020 and barely got 60,000 miles on it. Initial report shows that two cylinders misfires with no reason. It's failing the emission and car will not pass emission test anymore. Mercedes says it's out of warranty and asking 15k to replace cylinder head.

There had been multiple incidents where the battery dies. We had issues where the vehicle would not start. We do not get any warning error message before this happens. We make sure all doors are closed and all lights are off. We’ve had to tow the vehicle multiple times when the battery fails. This has left us stranded on multiple occasions. In addition we have taken it for service at the Mercedes dealership and they state that there is nothing wrong with the battery or the vehicle. They have suggested to replace the battery in 2022. At the moment the vehicle does not turn on and we have to find other transportation options to get around.

Campaign No. 2022030003, April 2022 My vehicle is experiencing the exact same issues, but the VIN was not tagged as one of the affected.

There is a leaking valve seat in the cylinder head 3. This causes the cylinder to lose compression, the car to lose power, and the vehicle fails to move from a full stop.

The rear shock absorbers failed at approximately 33,000 miles. The issue presented with a rattle in the rear end of the car. A certified mechanic diagnosed the issue as the rear shock absorbers were leaking potentially due to improper sealing of the shock absorbers. The certified mechanic presented a document related to a Recall Campaign that is directly correlated to the rear shock absorber issue (please see attached file). The Recall Campaign specifically mentions the vehicle in question ( 2020 Mercedes GLE350) , but my vehicle VIN is not included in the recall campaign. Therefore, the dealership will not fix the issue under the recall campaign. I would like to investigate the remedies available under the current situation.

Watch this report: [XXX] There was less than 1/2 a pound of refridgerant in my vehicle. The dealership - Mercedes Benz of Boerne inspected it. They extracted the refridgerant from the vehicle and hooked up leak system and monitor the gas to see if there is a leak and picked up in the center vent and the hose that goes to the vehicle's AC evaporator. There is a leak from the evaporator. This is a recurring problem that has popped up due to a recall in 2019: "The issue stems from air-conditioner drain hoses that may have been incorrectly installed, causing water to drain into the passenger compartment. Water intrusion into the footwells may cause corrosion or short circuits to electrical components, increasing the risk of fire. Furthermore, the emergency call feature may be disabled and the doors may not unlock, increasing the risk of injury. And as a final consequence, the engine may not start or may enter a limp-home mode, increasing the risk of a crash. To fix this potentially long-reaching issue, dealers will inspect and reinstall the drain hoses, as necessary, for free.
