Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Cadillac CTS, 2017-2018 Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet Camaro, and Chevrolet Corvette vehicles. The electric power steering (EPS) assist may fail.

Risk. A loss of power steering assist can require greater steering effort, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the power steering gear assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 15, 2025. Owners may contact Cadilac customer service at 1-800-333-4223 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N252497020.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

Risk. A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Power steering went out at 12k miles not readying steering torq sensor

I went to the Chevy Dealer for service and to investigate a tire that keeps losing air. The dealership advised that the 2 rear wheels both have cracks that are consistent with a known problem in this model vehicle. They also documented that the two front wheels have bends also associated with a known defect in this model vehicle.

Multiple Wheels (9) have been replaced and multiple tires. Have had to repair each of these wheels upwards of 20+ times and it’s not allowed legally after 3 cracks per wheel. Safety issue as tires would blow out or go flat in short time. Yes, been inspected multiple times by dealers, GM and told not covered under any warranty. One incident, GM agreed to replace the 2 rear wheels at 50% retail!

Cracked (chrome) wheels on 2017 Corvette Grand Sport at 30228 miles. The tire icon appeared on the driver information display. Passenger side rear tire. After inflating the tire I took it to my dealer, Jorns Chevrolet where I purchased it brand new. Jorns is a leading Corvette dealer in Wisconsin. The dealer actually had a set of after market replacement wheels on display in the showroom. The technician removed the wheel and pointed out a large crack causing the slow leak. Not wanting to pay an exorbitant amount for one wheel and gamble on the other three I decided to replace all four with forged aftermarket wheels. Now, the technician discovered a crack in the driver side rear wheel also. Jorns explained that they have replaced wheels, with similar problems, on forty other Corvettes! Appealing to GM was a futile waste of time. GM skillfully crafted a policy to claim any sort of compensation virtually impossible. Initial contact requires the owner to deal with some appointed law firm and comply with their front line screening. IF you succeed with that, mountains of documentation are required. Very disappointing considering, the frequency of failures and owners history with a known problem with a premium brand model.

Description: On June 23, 2025, I was involved in a traffic collision in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to the police report, another driver failed to yield while exiting a private driveway and struck the front of my vehicle while I was stopped in the center turn lane preparing to turn left. As the vehicle entered my lane, I pressed the horn continuously in an attempt to alert the driver. My right hand was positioned on the horn pad in the center of the steering wheel. At the moment of impact, the driver airbag deployed while my hand remained on the horn pad. I immediately experienced severe pain in my right wrist. Medical evaluation confirmed fractures of the distal radius and ulna requiring surgical fixation with plates and screws. My purpose in submitting this report is to document a potential safety concern involving the interaction between horn activation and airbag deployment. Activating the horn during an imminent collision may be a foreseeable defensive maneuver, which could place the driver’s hand directly over the airbag module at the moment of deployment. I respectfully submit this information for safety review in case similar incidents have been reported.

Driving this vehicle yesterday, the power steering assist failed. Fortunately, I was traveling at a low speed at the time. A message appeared on the dash telling me there was a power steering issue and to drive cautiously. I can make this vehicle available for inspection upon request. I have not yet taken the vehicle to the dealer; nor had it inspected by any other party. The message in the dash did not appear until the component had failed.

Noticed one wheel kept leaking down slowly. After a couple of weeks of filling the air in the tires, it was down near the warning pressure again on one rear wheel. Decided to remove the wheel to inspect the cause of the leak. Upon removal of the wheel, there were two noticeable cracks on the inner bead diameter of the wheel. I know this has been a big issue for all the C7 GS corvettes, because this is my 4th C7 GS with the same issue. All my previous C7 GS have had all the factory rear wheels to crack. I don't understand why there has not been a recall since every C7 GS I've owned had this same issue on all the rear wheels. I typically do my own repairs unless they are covered under warrant. I have worked on automobiles for over 35 years in my personal garage and it has become an expectation that any C7 GS or Z06 with a rear tire leaking is caused by a cracked wheel. Have contacted Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet in Charlotte NC about the cracked wheel before deciding repair method that will be taken.

Rear tire leaking air, took it to shop and they stated i have a one inch crack in my wheel

Cracks found on 3 of 4 wheels when the wheels were off for cleaning. Cracks are on 2 front wheels and 1 rear. Cracks are located on the inner edge of the barrel, and extend up the edge, then about 0.5 to 1.0in toward the centerline of the wheel. Further cracking could cause loss of air pressure.

It has been well documented that the oem wheels on this model and the Z06 of similar years are of poor quality and crack under normal road use, posing a serious safety hazard. What I learned today, that I was not previously aware of, is that they crack on the inside lip, often extending into the barrel of the wheel. A crack in this location is virtually impossible to detect, especially on black wheels like mine and even though I have my own 2 post lift and routinely inspect the vehicle, I was not aware of 3 cracks in my 2 rear wheel that were discovered at Ciocca, Chevrolet in AC today during a routine alignment with road force balancing at my request. I have attached an invoice to replace both rear wheels that was provided by the dealer. The problem is that GM never addressed this issue with a forged wheel upgrade. The extra wheel width on the Grand Sport and Z06 clearly require a forged wheel to prevent routine cracking under normal use. Oem wheels are cast. As a long time GM buyer with 2 current GM vehicles (corvette and suburban), and 2 past GM vehicles (corvette and tahoe), I expected at least a conversation regarding a sensible next step in making my care usable and capable on road. Instead I was told that there were no open recalls and that there was nothing to be done. GM has built a 200mph capable vehicle, advertised as a track ready, that can't even drive down normal roads, without cracking it's wheels. This poses an extreme safety risk to everyone on the road. 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Fuel Leak at the Primary Fuel Pump Module Flange. Problem causes fuel odor and loss of fuel on garage floor. Vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by Chevrolet dealership.

The Infotainment System (Radio) on my 2017 Chevrolet Grand Sport Corvette suddenly and without warning malfunctioned/failed on or around in 2023, whereby the eight inch screen on the Infotainment System went completely black/blank, whereby my radio produced no audio sound nor allowed me the ability to view the screen (on the Infotainment System) while placing my vehicle in reverse-which is very useful when having to place the vehicle in reverse. I personally believe that during the period (2023 thru most of 2024) in which my Infotainment System was not working properly, that my safety and/or the safety of others was placed at risk due to being unable to use/view the rearview camera while placing my car in reverse. In August of 2024, I reached out to Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center (by writing a letter) re: this matter and requesting financial assistance to repair my Infotainment System. I submitted verification with my letter, that the matter I was writing about was "a well known issue/problem" as reported by Corvette Magazine (which I subscribe to) and with computer prints/verification(s) of discussions in Corvette Enthusiasts internet chat rooms, whereby several Corvette owners also reported having issues/problems with their Infotainment System malfunctioning. 2017 Corvette power steering assist failed while driving as described exactly in NHTSA recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V086000. Dealer claims recall is not included for my vehicle identification number. Car only has 5100 miles on it and failed exactly as recall described and nearly caused a collision as the vehicle is extremely hard to steer when power assist fails. I believe my VIN should be included in the recall. The vehicle repairs have not been completed yet.

Wheel rims on the C7 Corvette are subject to either cracking or bending resulting in a sudden loss of air pressure and could cause a loss of steering control or blowout

The left rear wheel of this vehicle has two major cracks in it. The tire has had a slow leak for the past couple of months as indicated by the low-tire warning light on the dashboard. I took it to a Discount Tire Outlet in an effort to find and repair the leak, and upon inspection the technician found the two cracks and pointed them out to me. Obviously, if the tire were to blow out at any speed it would endanger the lives of me and any of my passengers, as well as the people in other vehicles around me. The vehicle manufacturer, General Motors, is very well aware of this problem as it has received a number of lawsuits over this specific issue. To date, General Motors has refused to replace these defective wheels, or to provide any other type of relief to Corvette owners.

Left rear tire was going flat regularly.I took it to the tire store and they said all parts of tire were ok but the Wheel was Cracked. The first warning I had was Dec 29,2020 and then Dec 20,2021-It had been examine by dealers and nothing was said. It began regularly Dec 9,2023 and will go down between 2 days and 2 weeks since. I took it into Folsom Chevrolet on March 5 and they said the tires were ok ,but nothing about the wheel. I took it to tire America on March 23 and they found the wheel crack.

My right rear tire developed a slow leak, losing approximately 2 pounds per day. I added air to the tire until I had the opportunity to go to my local Chevrolet dealer, Rick Hendrick Chevy. They inspected the wheels and tires. They found cracks in both rear and the right front wheels. I have read about this situation for several years and had hoped I wasn't going to have this problem. This situation is widespread throughout all seventh generation (C7) Z06 and Grand Sport Corvettes. I know that Chevy dealers are instructed to say they have no knowledge of this issue there are hundreds of cases reported in The Corvette Forum. Several owners sought arbitration through the Better Business Bureau and won. Chevrolet is still blaming drivers for the wheel problems and they refuse to pay for the repairs. The estimate I received on Saturday, February, 3rd, 2024 is $6,226. It's no coincidence that Chevy decided to install forged wheels instead of the cast wheels that are involved in this. If you have the opportunity, have GM provide you with sales numbers for the wheels for the C7 Z06 and Grand Sport. I'm sure you will see a significant difference between those part numbers and those for the Stingray models. Although many owners are buying forged wheels from aftermarket sources in order to avoid the cracking problem again. As far as GM claiming this is a rare occurrence, I ask you read an article in the 2024 edition of "Corvette Magazine 2024 buyers guide on page 99 titled Real World B

On 11/29/2023 I brought my 2017 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport to my local Chevrolet Dealer (Maritime Chevrolet in Fairfield, Connecticut) because both rear tires were rapidly losing air (brand new tires had just been installed 4 days prior by this same dealership). Upon inspection, the dealership discovered multiple cracks in both rear wheels causing the tires to lose air. The service manager told me he looked into the issue and discovered multiple bulletins regarding this problem and said that General Motors is aware of the faulty wheels, however they are not willing pick up the cost on replacing the defective wheels or offer a safe alternative. The dealership wants to replace the 2 cracked wheels for $900 each (and even offered the pay for half the cost). The replacement wheels are the exact same as the defective ones and will likely crack again. This is an incredible safety hazard and I am now fearful to drive this car that only has 13,000 miles on it. I have owned the car since new and have never abused it and it is driven very little. If the tires lose enough pressure while driving it could possibly lead to an serious accident. After further research online, this is a well known defect and safety issue that has been documented by many different sources. I was driving when the tire pressure warning light came on indicating the rear drivers side tire pressure dropped to 17 psi. I immediate drove to a gas station to add air. I inspected the tire and didn’t notice any damage. I aired the tire up to 32 psi and drove off. Within 3-5 mins the warning came back on. Upon further inspection of the inside of the wheel I noticed that the rim now had a 1.5 inch crack that went from the edge of the rim into the barrel of the wheel.

When I replaced my tires with new ones on my 17 corvette Z06. My mechanic found all four rims bent. I know this is a big issue with these rims. I hope you people act on this issue with Chevrolet before someone gets hurt or killed

Wheel on passenger rear is cracked and leaking air constantly. Discount Tire said to report it as GM said too bad. It seems that all of my friends with this model car are having the same issue. Worthless wheel now as it will not hold air. It caused me to partially lose control of the car since it had too low a pressure.

Passenger side rear wheel developed a crack causing an air leak. Defect was acknowledged and wheel was replaced under a purchased extended warranty specific for tires and wheels. I purchased this warranty specifically due to the common complaint of cracked wheels on this model line (Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport), built between 2017 - 2019. With the slow leak, this damaged wheel did not present itself immediately. I drove the vehicle for an undetermined amount of miles, but it is safe to assume at least 3k miles as I would add air to the effected tire/wheel multiple times assuming it was due to ambient air temperature changes. A mechanically defective wheel could prove to disastrous and lfe threatening at highway speeds should a catastrophic failure occur. Approx. mileage was 22k miles on vehicle. Only error was the TPMS "Low Pressure" Warning.

Upon tire replacement an inspection of the right rear wheel has shown inside wheel lip cracks in 2 places as well as an out of round condition. There has been no associated tire damage with this defect.

Cracked and warped wheel issue! I already replaced two wheels in last 3 years and yet I got two more wheels cracked. And one of them is the replaced wheel. I cannot remember the time I dealt with warped wheel. Probably more than 10 times. I have only used Chevrolet official dealers for any service. Everything is already in records. My car is only at 30K miles. This is insane that GM is not taking ownership of this issue and resolve it. I cannot believe that the class action law suite is not fully finalized yet. I am ready support the existing law suite with any of the data that I have.

In may of 2020 I went to get new tire for this vehicle, the installer noticed i had a right rear cracked wheel. So I purchased a new wheel from GM, and had it installed, the wheel was about $800. The next spring, 2021, I took the car out of storage and noticed both rear wheels were very low on air pressure, both were at about 5 LBS each. So I inspected the wheels and found that both were cracked. I kept the old wheel that was cracked and decided to have all 3 welded by a professional shop. One of those wheels was cracked by the time I put the car back in storage in October, so I exchanged it with the other welded wheel I had on hand. The crack on this wheel propagated from a different area then the weld repair spot. All three rear wheels have cracked, two of them twice in different area. Now I believe I have another one cracked. I am going to replace these wheels with an aftermarket forged wheel. I did not have these inspected by anyone other then the national chain tire shop. Low tire pressure warnings were the reason I inspected the wheels. According to a few car websites, this is a reocuring problem with wheels on Z06 and Grand Sport Corvette models. Yes this is a safety problem.

Hello, I recently purchased my 2017 Corvette Z06 and had a GM dealership complete a complete inspection prior to taking delivery. Less than 1 month later the car developed a vibration which an independent tire shop diagnosed as one (1) cracked front wheel and one (1) bent rear wheel resulting in the vibration. I have driven less than 1k miles since inspection/purchase and the vehicle only has 29k miles total. These are the factory GM wheels which must now be replaced. I was not aware of the GM Corvette Wheel issue prior to this happening but now understand this is a widespread, systemic issue. The Two Rear Wheels were Cracked on the inside near the Tire Bead

On 1-24-2023 at 13,224 miles the rear left tire began to lose pressure slowly. Upon investigation the rear left wheel is cracked. This is unsafe as the rapid pressure loss or splitting of a wheel can happen at interstate speeds. This can cause an accident. The problem was confirmed by a tire service center. It has not been inspected by anyone other than myself and the tire center. The car TPMS warning displayed to alert the low pressure condition.

Tire rack in south bend indiana went to replace my corvettes tires and when they removed the rear wheels they identified two cracks. Due to safety policy's they could not remount my tires or pout new tires on the wheels... I was stuck so I called GM to discuss. GM opened a case for me and said that is all they could do at the time. I purchased new wheels to get the car back on the road and waited for GM to call. They never did so I called and the customer service lady set up an appointment at the nearest dealer to inspect the cracked wheels. I traveled to the the dealer for the appointment and of coarse they didn't know anything about the GM ticket and sent me away. I called GM again and set me up another appointment with a different dealer and assured me the issue would get resolved. I traveled to the 2nd dealer and they didn't know anything about the GM ticket and then said if they were to look at the wheels they would have to be mounted on the car. I left and GM called me the next day and the ladt informed me that my claim / ticket was denied and will be closed out. I asked how could you deny the claim when you never even looked or inspected them?! The wheels should not be on the road and this is an ongoing issue with the C7 Grand Sport's and Z06.

I had a rear right wheel leaking air. Figuring that i was a slow leak, I took it to my local Discount Tire shop for repair. The informed me that the tire was fine and that it was the rim that was leaking. As it turns out all but 1 of my factory GM wheels had cracks in them. After doing a litle research I've learned that this is a massive issue with the Corvette C7 factory wheels. The wheel have been bending, cracking and breaking. As of right now GM has not taken ownership of this dangerous issue. My understanding is that lawsuits are now pending.

Drivers side rear wheel has cracked causing air to leak. If left unnoticed, this may lead to catastrophic failure as the wheel may completely break a highway speeds.

Took the car to discount tire since the tire lost air (run flat tires). They removed the tire and the rear passenger side rim has one 3 inch and two additional cracks in the rim. No warning signs of this issue while driving at highway speeds earlier in the day. The large crack was leaking air. Rims are discontinued by Chevrolet and no replacements are available. Had to drive the car home which was an obvious safety issue. A large number of other drivers are faced with the same safety issue over these defective rims. I will add myself to any class action lawsuits over this issue so that no one is injured due to a total rim failure.

The rear right wheel is confirmed having two cracks by Fremont of Chevrolet. The car was not driven in any conditions beyond that would be considered "normal". We found out about this issue as the TPMS would indicate low tire pressure after the car would be sitting for a few days on the rear right tire. Driving on a cracked wheel presents a danger as the crack can expand and fully deflate the tire during normal driving. This is a known issue for GM for having fragile wheels on the grand sport and Z06 models

Left front wheel was found to be out of round (bent), when trying to balance the wheel assembly due to vibration. The wheel was straightened, and the vibration was resolved. Left rear tire lost pressure while driving on open road in Wyoming. Managed to get to Les Schwab tire store. They removed the wheel/tire assembly, submerged in water tank and found the air leaking through the cracked wheel. Dash warning light had come on indicating the loss of pressure. Local GM dealer (Whistler Chevrolet) was able to order a replacement wheel and it was installed the next day. The expense of the new wheel and mounting was in excess of $900.

Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V086000 (Steering) which he linked to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

A "low tire pressure" alert shown on my dashboard referring to rear left tire. This car has 17,000 miles since new, and new tires less then 90 days before. I added correct air pressure, parked car in garage, 3 days later same notice, tire low on air. First removed left rear, cleaned and inspected and noticed approximately 1" crack along the rim. Check with water and found leak. Repeated for right side, a crack which is currently not leaking air. Photos of both rims ae attached

The wheels crack / bend won't hold air in normal driving

I drive my corvette about 3000 miles per year, no highway, never in the rain. I took my GS in for new tires and was informed the driver side rear wheel was cracked and leaking air. I have never hit a bump, drove it on a track, drove on deflated tires etc. Makes no sense the rim would be cracked.
