Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023–2026 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles equipped with a left-side radiator/fan combination. Excess fuel may spill into the vehicle fuel-filler pocket during refueling and leak onto an ignition source.
Risk. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source, such as hot engine or exhaust components, can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy. Dealers will install a shield to divert spilled fuel, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 14, 2025. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N252514930.

While operating my 2023 Chevrolet Corvette at approximately 75 mph on [XXX], the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly lost propulsion. Moments later, the vehicle completely shut down. The instrument display went dark and the vehicle's lights went out. This occurred in active highway traffic. I struggled to maintain control of the vehicle while avoiding surrounding vehicles and narrowly avoided a potentially catastrophic collision. I managed to bring the Corvette to rest on the shoulder. The vehicle was subsequently transported approximately 20 miles to an authorized Chevrolet dealership at my expense. The dealership retained the vehicle for approximately five months. During that period, I was not provided a courtesy or replacement vehicle. The dealership replaced the transmission under the manufacturer's warranty. The replacement transmission part number may differ from the original, but this requires confirmation from repair records. Although the transmission was replaced, I do not know whether the dealership separately diagnosed and corrected the cause of the complete electrical blackout. I am concerned that the loss of propulsion followed by a complete electrical blackout represents a serious safety defect that could result in a collision, serious injury, or death. I request that NHTSA investigate the failure, including the relationship between the transmission malfunction, loss of propulsion, and electrical shutdown. Vehicle is 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with about 33000 miles. On XXXI was driving about 65 mph on [XXX] in the left lane with my wife as passenger. On a slight left curve the front brakes applied hard on their own without my input. The car slowed very rapidly. A semi truck in the right lane had to take evasive action to avoid a collision. A similar event happened on XXX with only me in the car at about 45 mph. The front brakes applied on their own in a similar way. I also recall a possible similar event in November or XXX. I am not certain of that earliest date. Since then, it has happened several times more and confirmed by Chevrolet Dealership. Warning symptoms: The tire pressure monitoring system warning light has been on intermittently. The right front tire pressure does not display. The light was on before the March event and is on now. Dealer inspection: The dealer inspected the car on XXX and on later visits. A GM corporate field engineer also inspected the car. They stated they could not duplicate the concern and made no repair. I have since returned the vehicle to the dealership and it has been in their possession since XXX. The vehicle was taken out and confirmed the braking issue. Tech's reinspected the vehicle and cannot figure out the issue. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: Uncommanded hard braking at highway speed creates risk of being struck from behind and risk of loss of control. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM

My windshield is defective. It is flaking and pieces are coming off of it. It’s a safety issue to me. It’s distracting my vision and it’s right in the vision where I look out the windshield. It’s not rock chips. It’s flaking. I’m getting pieces of glass in my wash rag so therefore I feel it’s a safety issue.

While driving normally, I was in the middle of a busy highway/intersection when the vehicle suddenly lost power and came to a complete stop. The vehicle shut itself off without warning, leaving the Corvette disabled in the roadway and causing a complete blockage of the road/intersection. Traffic was actively traveling around me, creating a serious safety hazard and putting both myself and other motorists at risk of a collision. After the vehicle stopped, it would not restart. The instrument cluster displayed a theft-deterrent/immobilizer warning and a lock/security symbol, along with a message stating that there could be a problem with the theft-deterrent system and referring to Immobilizer Operation. The vehicle has full electrical power, but when attempting to start it, it only clicks and the engine does not crank or start. I placed the key fob in the designated backup location as instructed in the owner’s manual, but the vehicle still would not start. The exact failed component has not yet been diagnosed or confirmed. The vehicle is available for inspection. The sudden and unexpected loss of power while I was in the middle of a busy highway/intersection caused an immediate and serious safety concern because the vehicle became completely disabled and blocked the roadway.

At 23000 miles the right rear wheel cracked. I have a 2023 Corvette stingray HTC with the 20" wheels. The option code for this original GM wheel is Q8Q, "20" rear carbon flash painted aluminum wheels with machined edge". This is a common problem and has been reported by many corvette owners on several corvette forums. I do not track my car and have new tires. GM again ignores this safety item. I had the problem on my C7 and again on my C8. I did complete the GM refund paperwork for my C7 cracked rear rims, however, GM never did any refunds or tried to correct this safety issue.

Component/System: Fuel System – Fuel Filler / Left-Side Radiator and Cooling Fan Assembly (subject to NHTSA Recall 25V536). What happened: On June 15, 2024, I was refueling my 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 at a BP gas station in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. As I removed the fuel pump nozzle from the vehicle, a violent explosion occurred. I was immediately engulfed in a fireball. My clothing caught fire and was burning me. I jumped clear of the flames and extinguished the fire on my clothing. I saw that the vehicle remained fully engulfed in flames with the pump nozzle still lodged in the filler. I ran to the adjacent pump island where a station attendant was attempting but was unable to open a locked fire extinguisher cabinet. I broke the glass with both of my bare hands to remove the fire extinguisher. I sustained a severe laceration to my forehead that was approximately 3 inches long and required plastic surgery of over 50 stitches to close. I then ran to the car that was burning with approximately 10 foot flames and I used the fire extinguisher to put out the fire on the vehicle and pump. I then pulled the pump handle from the fuel filler opening and called the police. The police and fire department arrived and confirmed the fire was extinguished. The flames singed the hair on my head and legs. Component availability: Documentation including photographs, police report, and medical records are available. Safety risk: A fuel-fed explosion at an active gasoline pump created an ext

On 10/13 after refuling my 2023 Chevy Corvette. I was cruising on a freeway when the car started showing signs of staying in 5th gear. The rev limiter was going from 500 to 2500 rpm rhythmically at a cruising speed of 65mph. At this time, I noticed the loss of response from the gas pedal. The car was then placed in manual shifting mode so that i can attempt to regain population control and maintain the flow of traffic as this was a high crash area. Unfortunately, this attempt did not work and the dash cluster illuminated with the following alerts "rear axil system offline" "idle creep disabled," "service transmission" at this time. The gear indicator on the dash that shows the mode and gear, for example: D3 (drive 3rd gear), completely disappeared and the gas pedal completely went unresponsive. At this point i used the momentum of the car in motion to exit off of the freeway into a parking center. The vehicle proceeded to not respond in regards to going into park, reverse, or drive. The only thing that worked was the electronic parking brake. This was a very scary situation that, without my federal law enforcement driving training I may not have coasted safely out of traffic.

Suddenly, he lost control of the vehicle, crashed, and the car burst into flames. I’ve since learned that GM issued a recall for this model due to fuel spillage and fire risk. Other owners have reported transmission and instrument panel failures. I believe a defect in the vehicle may have caused or contributed to [XXX] ’s death. I am requesting a formal investigation into this incident and the safety of the 2023 Corvette Z06. I am also pursuing legal action to hold GM accountable. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle at the local Carson City,NV CHEVROLET dealer on 5/18/2025 my passenger started to hear a muffled “thumping noise” from the right front foot well? I am a disabled veteran USAF pilot with hearing loss and did not immediately hear it. The car had 29,129 miles on it when purchased and was a “certified vehicle” with some remaining original warranty as well as an extended warranty given its great condition(I was told!) After a few hundred miles of driving the sound became much louder and VERY noticeable when even on rough roads I discovered when removing the “frunk” trim to investigate a weak battery up front that an aluminum upper suspension right front shock mount was only being retained by a single bolt of the FOUR designed to secure it! Two had sheared the aluminum mount off and one bolt had broken off and was missing! The car has been in possession of the dealer since I had it towed in 6/27/2025 I have had NO RESPONSE from the dealer as to the cause.other than to indicate that it had been a rental car company acquisition No other external body/suspension/tire/fender damage was visible The dealer has confirmed the failure and has to my knowledge not repaired it although they did indicate that GM engineers were advised?

On 8/3/2025 I was at a stop light. It turned green. I went to go and my car would not go past first gear. Had to pull over. Waited turned the car off. Turned it back on and started driving, then I got an alert 545. Then my entire screen went blank only showing the alert. I called my dealership to explain. They said there were recalls on the 2023 and 2024 transmissions. That’s why I got the alert 545. But they said there was nothing they could do. I could bring it in for a test drive with a technician and if it pops up alert 545 then they would submit a ticket to GM. But the earliest to fix my corvette would be October. But also saying I would have to pay full price for everything. I bought my 2023 Corvette 1LT C8 stingray in 2022 and have only put 19,000 miles on it. I do not miss maintenance or anything. I’m not sure how to get GM to pay for my transmission and labor. It also would not let me acknowledge and click the button on the steering wheel. My display went off and I could not get it back on even turning the knob. This is incredibly dangerous for my safety. Transmission failure. Can’t see the speed I’m going.

Normal driving conditions while in Z-mode in moderate traffic, an audible bang was heard, however there was no immediate issue. A few minutes later the Check Engine Light, ABS, Traction Control and other lights appear on dash. Once lights appear, brakes fail and no longer slow the car down, the gas pedal only revved the car and could no longer accelerate. The car was still on and “driving”, I just didn’t have acceleration or brakes. I put my turn signal on and eventually was able to safely pull off the road and stop the vehicle utilizing Neutral and the Emergency Parking Brake. I was in genuine fear of crashing due to not having brakes or acceleration and felt that if the parking brake and/or neutral failed, then I’d have to crash to stop the vehicle. Not having brakes or acceleration put myself, my passenger, and every vehicle around me when it occurred at risk of injury. This has occurred twice in less than 1 year of ownership with this vehicle and I’ve taken it to two dealerships, Mike Reichenbach Chevrolet and Rick Hendrick Chevrolet. When it first occurred in December 2023, I was also in Z-Mode in light traffic, after it occurred, I drove slowly to the dealership with the hazard lights on. The second time I brought it to a dealership was after the first dealership couldn’t find the cause nor replicate the issue. The codes were cleared by the first dealership, but the car was still operating roughly and not as designed. The third time, in July 2024, it was brought to Rick

The vehicle has had rear and front camera failure within 72 hours of me buying it (91 miles); and I let my sales guy know, we decided to bring it by the dealership one day when it is malfunctioning. I got it to act up that Saturday 3/18/23 with 123 miles, and it showed 2 DTC's (B1A62 and U0131), but with a limited staff, they had no one to look at it. Still not upset, I said whatever and figured I would just drive it and bring it back during the weekdays It happened again this morning on the way to work, and I took it right in; they were able to scan it again and show the fault codes. This is where it gets really upsetting; the tool/adapter they need to test the AV cable is showing June 16th ship date. I sell cars for a living also, and this is something I would never expect a customer to just deal with and wait. I literally can't drive the car in and out of my driveway without the camera system. My wife almost ran into the door because the camera does not work. My fear is a child could be hit or run over, and I can't believe General Motors is ok with a new vehicle being sold, failing immediately after delivery, and having no way to fix the problem. I have contacted someone at GM corporate, and they also instructed me to wait for diagnostic. This is a concern on other Corvettes, and not the first instance of this happening.

Vet delivered 5/31/22. I noticed that the daylight driving lights came on when it was dark and headlights came on during the day, completely backwards when vehicle headlights switched to "auto" . Took vehicle to dealership and they replaced the dash light sensor but this did't fix the problem. Dealership notified Chevrolet regarding the problem. Went to the web page titled CorvetteForum.com and noticed other '23 Corvette owners with the same problem. It's been almost 6 months with "NO" word from Chevrolet as to when this issue will be resolved.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
