It was smoking had a bad smell it smelt like it was about to explode. It wouldn’t let me unlock the car. Finally after 5 minutes it finally unlocked there is literal flames on the driver side dash and floor board. We used a fire extinguisher it was still smoking so we put water on it. When the fire department finally showed up the dash was still 182 degrees. They used their high water power fire extinguisher. The battery was also unplugs before the fire was completely out. And state farm called a tow truck to take it to pohanka in Salisbury Md.

I was broadsided at the front end of the drivers side on Saturday 07/25/2026 by a wayward vehicle drifting into my lane. After the crash, the airbags deployed and then I could not open the driver seat door. Three other passer-bys who kindly stopped to check on me could not open the door from outside either. Finally, after being stuck for at least 10 minutes in the car, the police arrived, who somehow managed to open the door and let me out. This is a serious safety hazard; if the car caught fire, I could be burnt alive.

I performed a search on Google for any corolla's braking problem and found an incident "EXACTLY" like my daughter experienced! You reported that while your daughter was driving your 2025 Toyota Corolla Hybrid, she experienced a brake failure incident causing a collision to occur. You stated that she was exiting to the right and applied pressure to the brake pedal. However, the brakes made a loud noise, the brake pedal went to the floor, and your vehicle collided with the rear-end of another vehicle. You also expressed concern that the front Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbags failed to deploy. This is the summation. Of course they found nothing... I was driving west bound on I40 with the adaptive cruise control, and lane assist on at 75 MPH. It was around 8:30 PM when I seen the instrument panel flash, just drop for less than half a second, and then come back up but dimmer, like when the headlights come on, except they already were on. At that point all engine noises stopped and the car felt like it was actively braking. I literally lurched forward in my seat. I noticed that the RPM's had dropped to zero and I didn't see anything on the dash that indicated any warning. All green icons and nothing red. Stepped on the gas pedal, nothing. Tried hitting the cancel on the adaptive controls, nothing. I started turning the car from the inside lane to get to the outside shoulder while shifting the car into neutral to get more drift and tried toggling the key from off to start position and the engine. No rev, no RPM's. Car stalls in the outside lane. I turned on the flashers and then put the vehicle in park, removed the key and then re-entered the key and tried to start. Nothing. Attempted to push the car out of the lane in neutral but I wasn't able to get it to move. A couple semi's go by and I about pooped my pants. Waited for highway patrol to come by and get the car towed. Very fortunate no one was hurt or killed. I believe the automatic emergency braking activated or the electronic parking brake activated? All of the interior systems still had power.

On February 14th, my 2025 Toyota Corolla Hybrid (approx. 17,000 miles) experienced a catastrophic failure. Without warning, the steering wheel completely locked, preventing any control. Simultaneously, the automatic emergency collision braking system malfunctioned, locked the brakes, and would not disengage. This total loss of control forced the vehicle to crash into a median. Toyota Corporate has ignored my case for 30 days. This is a severe, life-threatening manufacturing defect that caused a crash and destroyed my sole source of income.

I was driving at 2pm after an Ice Storm had hit texas and a majority of ice was missing but there was a small patch under a bridge. There were two stoplights once which was not under a bridge and one about 50-100 in front which was. I had accelerated to about 20 before the other light changed to red and I attempted to stop but due to ice I kept sliding forward adn the ABS was going wild and while I had the brake held down the pedal was going wild from the ice and after the car has stopped the brake pedal arm had bent so drasticly my brake lights wouldn't turn off due to the pedal arm being bent into the sensor below the dash. Toyota then refused to cover any part of the repair cost under the warrenty due to outside influence. I did not and could not have expected that using the brake pedal in an emergency situation would brake the brake pedal and they refuse to cover it under manufacturer warranty.

I am writing to inform you of some recurring issues with my vehicle. The car has been displaying several (5) alerts, including those related to the parking brake system, drive-start control system, check engine light, vehicle stability control system, and secondary collision brake system. I took the car to a dealer for repairs, and they assured me that the issues were resolved. However, the following day, the problems reappeared. Additionally, when I start the car, it emits an unusual sound and begins to shake. Unfortunately, The dealer had 5 days my car to repair and denied to provide a rental car. I don't understand the reason if my car is new and the problem is manufacturing I would appreciate your assistance in addressing these ongoing concerns.

I have had several issues with the car. As issues have not been address problems become more unsafe. Most recently i have had intermittent issues with steering. The wheel will randomly be hard to turn leaving the car to drift uncontrollably. I have gone to the dealership but because they cannot replicate the issue nothing has been done. I have gone 3 different times to get them to address the concern but they cannot replicate it so they have not examined anything. They turned off the safety setting instead of checking the ADAS and since turning off the systems the issues are less frequent, but still a concern. I have contacted corporate who has not helped come to a resolution to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The wireless charging unit/electrical system failed. The unit is still in the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While driving with all doors securely closed, the system displays false “door open” error messages and disables the wireless charging function. These false alerts distract the driver and could cause confusion or unsafe reactions. The issue undermines confidence in the reliability of the vehicle’s electrical and safety systems. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The Toyota dealership confirmed the problem and reported replacing the wireless charging unit, but the defect persists. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by the Toyota dealership and reviewed by Toyota Customer Care. Toyota denied further assistance (Case #250811002888, letter dated August 21, 2025). Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle displayed false “door open” messages when attempting to use the wireless charger. These warnings cause the system to stop charging and continue to appear despite the dealer’s attempted repair.

There is a persistent high-pitched noise coming from my vehicle, which has now led to significant physical symptoms including migraines, nausea, dizziness, and increased sensitivity to sound, has made driving a painful and unsafe experience. The problem occurs nonstop if the a/c or heat is on. The noise is high-frequency, sharp, and continuous, and appears to originate from within the dashboard area or HVAC components. I went to the dealership multiple times with this complaint and they claim it is normal operation. I did not hear the same issue in the cars they compared mine to, but after Toyota's refusal to address the issue i looked it up and there are other reports [XXX] ). When at the dealership, I am continually faced with dismissive responses from the service departments and technicians, who have failed to address the underlying cause of the sound. This sound creates a serious distraction while driving and has caused physical symptoms including headaches, nausea, ear discomfort, and dizziness. These symptoms impair my ability to concentrate and safely operate the vehicle. On longer drives, the effects intensify, increasing the risk of driver fatigue, disorientation, or even potential loss of control. I believe this presents a significant safety hazard, not only due to the physical impact on the driver, but also because it undermines focus and reaction time, especially in high-traffic or high-speed conditions. This issue should be investigated for potential defects in t

Purchased 6/25 a 2025 Toyota Corolla LE with 16,000 miles as a Pre-Certified Gold Platinum. Car has a constant front end, ride side rattle that does not go away. Advised by dealership it is a manufacturer characteristic. Impossible on a new car and from a billion dollar manufacturer. I was advised to turn up my radio in order not to hear it. Dealership and or Toyota itself has not serviced the vehicle after attempts with the explanation that it is road safe. Well if road safe, how do you know when you don't say what the problem is other than a piece of metal clanking and no remedy by Toyota. So how do I know this vehicle is safe to drive?? No one helps. Words mean nothing and to then say raise radio volume therefore causing another road distraction. If the car can't be fixed than what? Is it really road worthy?

The first picture is when the sun is streaming into the car - very hard to read. 2nd picture is upper left side with partial sun glare. 3rd pic is what it should look like all the time. The glass over the gauge cluster should be made out of some kind of anti glare glass so that the gauges are clearly visible all the time or gauge hood needs to be larger.

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Most recent recall on file: none. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
