The driver’s side A pillar that houses the airbag is not flush with the headliner. There is a gap in the upper section of the A pillar. This gap causes a distraction while driving because the gap is directly in front of the driver’s view. I took the vehicle to the Toyota of Corona dealer in Corona, CA to have the A pillar gap fixed so it is flush and not a distraction while driving. I was provided a video made by the technician of his inspection. In the video the technician acknowledged the gap in the A pillar, but showed that the same gap exists in their brand new Toyota vehicles. The technician filmed a new Toyota Vehicle with the A pillar gap. The technician stated on video “that this how they come and there is no issue with your vehicle.” I spoke by phone with my service advisor and discussed the issue with him, but was advised there is nothing they could do. The driver side A pillar having a gap and being in the direct line of sight of the driver is very dangerous. From the technician’s statements on video, the gap exists on all new Toyota vehicles.

My daughter was on the interstate using cruise control; wet roads but no heavy rain or puddling. The LTA pulled her car off the road, She had to fight to get control of the car to prevent hitting the middle concrete barrier. Once she got the car back into the lane, it jerked the other way down a gravel embankment resulting in scratches and damage to the undercarriage shield. Toyota said the LTA was functioning properly when they tested it in their repair center but also advised to turn that technology off if it was malfunctioning. The repair was $600 but this could have resulted in injury or death. I have a 2025 Camry and the same thing has happened to me more than once but without damage to the car. 2024 Toyota Corolla (TSS 3.0) distinct complaints from drivers: • Sticking and Hard Steering Pulls: Some owners report a distinct "notchy" or sticking sensation when trying to fight the system's automatic steering corrections. Some drivers on Reddit have noted that subtle factory wheel alignment or caster angle imbalances can cause the Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) to constantly over-correct or pull hard to one side. • Deep Menu Navigation: To adjust or turn off the system, drivers have to dive into deep menus via the steering wheel controls on the instrument cluster screen. Toyota owners frequently complain about the aggressive, erratic, and unpredictable steering corrections caused by Toyota's Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA) systems. • "Ping-Pong" or Over-C

In a 2024 Corolla the spiral cable (clock spring) is defective. It controls the airbag, cruise control, horn and more, so it is an important safety mechanism electrical part. Toyota USA is on back order for this part for at least a month, maybe two. This suggests to me that there is a widespread problem with defective Toyota Corolla spiral cables (clock spring) inside the steering wheel. People are driving around with this defective part while waiting for the part to arrive in the US, and will need to pay upwards of $1000 to have the defective part replaced.

A severe, pre-existing life-safety defect and unauthorized structural modification were discovered on my 2024 Toyota Corolla . Following a routine diagnostic check for vehicle pulling, certified Toyota technicians discovered that the vehicle's primary fuel line had been dangerously altered and was held together underneath the chassis by an unsecured wire clothes hanger. The vehicle was immediately grounded as an active fire and explosion hazard. A forensic vehicle inspection by a major insurance carrier (Traveler's) subsequently denied standard repair coverage, formally documenting that the wire-rigged fuel system was a pre-existing mechanical defect resulting from previous work done prior to my purchase of the vehicle from McCluskey Automotive. The selling dealership actively concealed an unroadworthy condition that exposed myself and my minor daughter to a catastrophic vehicle fire.

Subject / Issue: Child car seat caused vehicle seat belt to become permanently jammed Complaint: I am reporting a safety-related issue involving an Evenflo Revolve 360 child car seat. During normal use, the vehicle seat belt became slightly twisted inside the car seat base, and the seat stopped rotating properly. We were then unable to remove the child car seat from the base following the standard removal instructions. While attempting to safely remove the seat, the vehicle seat belt became completely jammed inside the base. The seat belt is now fully immobilized and cannot move in either direction. As a result, the child car seat is permanently stuck in the vehicle, and the seat belt system in the left rear seat is unusable. We had the vehicle inspected at a Toyota service center, and they confirmed that the only way to remove the child seat is to cut and replace the left rear seat belt. The estimated repair cost is approximately $680. This situation has rendered a vehicle safety restraint system inoperable and requires cutting the seat belt to resolve the issue. I am concerned about the safety design and potential risk if this occurs during normal consumer use. Photos of the issue are available and can be provided if needed.

I am filing a safety complaint for my 2024 Toyota Corolla because the infotainment screen intermittently goes black while driving. This is most dangerous when I am using GPS/navigation while driving. The screen has gone black while driving on busy highways at 60+ mph, leaving me without functional navigation. This creates a distraction and safety concern because I suddenly lose directions and may need to look at my phone or troubleshoot the screen while driving. The car has also had recurring phone connectivity issues. Sometimes my phone does not connect through Bluetooth or even when plugged in directly. However, the black screen while driving is the bigger safety issue. I contacted Toyota multiple times. Toyota reference number: #[XXX]. Toyota told me to take the car to the dealership, which I did many times while the vehicle was still under warranty. I took it to two different Toyota dealerships multiple times. They repeatedly said there was no issue because they could not duplicate it. They also blamed Fitbit devices connected to my phone, which did not explain the screen going black while driving. I sent Toyota and the dealerships videos of the issue. However, it is difficult and unsafe to record the screen failure while actively driving. I also contacted Toyota about lemon law concerns, case [XXX]. Toyota denied the claim. The vehicle is now out of warranty, but the screen still occasionally goes black while driving. This issue was reported multiple times during the war

I was driving my 2024 Toyota Corolla SE gas model (with the convenience package) on the interstate in [XXX] during stop-and-go traffic. Traffic had been moving slowly for about 15 minutes, and I had Brake Hold turned on, cruise control was off, Proactive Driving Assist was on. I was behind a semi truck and was moving very slowly, getting ready to stop. I had maybe 3 or 4 car lengths between me and the semi so they could see me in their mirrors. As I was about to stop, the brake pedal suddenly went all the way to the floor, the car jerked to a stop, and the electronic/emergency parking brake applied on its own. I put the car into Park and then back into Drive, and the problem did not happen again during that drive. There were no warning lights, dash lights, or warning messages before this happened, and there were also no warning lights or dash lights afterward. The issue happened suddenly with no prior symptoms that I noticed. I believe the brake system, Brake Hold system, electronic parking brake system, or a related brake/vehicle control system malfunctioned. This put my safety and the safety of others at risk because the car unexpectedly stopped abruptly in interstate traffic. Since I was in heavy stop-and-go traffic and other vehicles, there was a risk of being rear-ended, causing a crash, or becoming disabled in traffic. I took the vehicle to a Toyota dealership after the incident. They were not able to reproduce the problem, but they did find stored code C14FE14. They to

The 2024 Toyota Corolla needs to be added to the list of vehicles currently being investigated for transmission/engine issues. The vehicle in question is currently exhibiting transmission anomalies consistent with those observed in several other vehicles under review, specifically: slipping, jerking, surging forward, hesitation to accelerate from a complete stop, loss of power, droning sound at low speed, odd knocking noise/vibration during idle, unresponsive gear changes, shuddering upon vehicle shutdown, and decreased fuel efficiency. The owner has incurred expenses exceeding $2,000 for rental vehicles and diagnostic services in an effort to resolve these persistent issues. However, as of January 21, 2026, Toyota has not acknowledged the existence of a problem, asserting that these conditions are within normal operating parameters and that the vehicle is performing as intended. A local mechanic has advised the owner that Toyota will not diagnose the issue, but they are likely to offer a post-warranty adjustment should the transmission ultimately fail. It has become increasingly apparent that Toyota is not conducting a thorough investigation into these matters and expects the customer to bear the expense beyond the scope of the standard warranty. Beyond the immediate safety concerns for the owner, there is a significant risk of collision should the vehicle experience a loss of control or erratic behavior. Thank you for your time and assistance in investigating this matter.

I am reporting an ongoing safety issue involving the Skid Control ECU and loss of power break recall on my 2024 Toyota corolla hybrid. The first time, my vehicle experienced loss of power brake assist and displayed a “Hybrid System Malfunction” message on screen. I towed my car to Toyota, confirmed it was related to the Skid Control ECU recall and repaired it under the recall at no cost, they did a software update. The second time, the exact same problem reoccurred. I had the vehicle towed again to a Toyota dealership, but this time, they refused to perform diagnostics unless I paid out of pocket for a 12-volt battery replacement. The dealership stated they cannot confirm if the issue is recall-related until diagnostics are complete, but they also refuse to complete diagnostics without me paying first. My vehicle is currently undrivable and unsafe, and I rely on it for daily transportation and work. So they made my pay for this 12v battery to do the diagnostics and now they tell me it is not recall related but one of the relays not working, the repair will be cover under warrant but i had to pay for battery and rental cars . I believe Toyota is in violation of its obligations under 49 U.S.C. §30120, which requires manufacturers to correct recall-related safety defects free of charge. This issue leaves me without a vehicle and unable to verify that the recall has been properly resolved. I have opened a case with toyota brand engagement. I am requesting that NHTSA review this c

During a routine transmission fluid service on a 2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid, I discovered that the transmission model (PA10) is completely unlabeled and cannot be identified anywhere under the hood, in the owner’s manual, or on any visible tag. The only label is buried behind the firewall and not reasonably accessible to consumers or technicians. As a result, I initially attempted to service the wrong fluid port because Toyota provides no visible or clear identification of the transmission model or fill/drain points. Additionally, the factory-installed transmission drain and fill bolts were tightened with extreme torque well beyond normal service specifications, requiring application of high heat and excessive force to loosen. This resulted in personal injury and risk of property damage. The combination of (1) inaccessible transmission identification, (2) inadequate service guidance, and (3) extreme bolt torque creates a foreseeable safety hazard to vehicle owners or technicians attempting basic maintenance. Toyota’s official service documentation (Toyota Technical Information System, “TIS”) that clarifies the correct fill ports is paywalled and not included with the vehicle or manual, making it impossible for consumers to safely perform essential maintenance without paying daily access fees. This lack of accessible labeling and over-torqued components presents an avoidable risk of physical injury, vehicle damage, and mis-servicing. I believe Toyota should be required to prov

Component/system failed: The SRS Airbag System malfunctioned. After a rear-end collision on October 3, 2025, in Gwinnett County, GA, the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle displayed an alert: “SRS Airbag System – Malfunction detected” at 16:02. Safety risk: My safety was put at risk because the airbags did not function during a significant impact. This failure could have resulted in severe injury if the collision had been more forceful or from another angle. Inspection/reproduction: On October 6, 2025, I brought the vehicle to Atlanta Toyota. Instead of documenting the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and providing a report, the dealer cleared the fault code and recalibrated the system without my authorization, effectively erasing critical evidence of the malfunction. The invoice confirms this. Inspections by others: The vehicle was inspected only by the Toyota dealer. It has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives, but I have legal counsel and am preserving the evidence for further independent inspection. Warning lamps/messages: Yes. The SRS Airbag System Malfunction message appeared immediately after the collision on October 3, 2025. I have photographic evidence of this alert.

My vehicle will jerk into the left lane of the road when lane keeping assistance is activated. It appears isolated only to situations when I am travelling on roads that were recently repaved and lines haven't been painted yet. However, these roads are equipped with consistent reflective indicators marking the center of the road because these roads remain unpainted for months. There are many of these roads where I live so it is a frequent issue that I experience multiple times everyday. I have never allowed the vehicle to fully execute it's correction in fear it would drive off of the road or into oncoming traffic but it is a very scary event when my car tried to kill me.

My car was parked in my driveway on am 80 degree afternoon. I went into the car to get something. When I closed the driver door, the entire back window shattered. I am the only driver of the vehicle and there were no issues with the window prior to this- no cracks, no incidents, no rocks on the road.. The only indication there was any issue was condensation on the inside of the back window two days before this happened. I thought this was unusual, but it did not seem like something to call the dealer about. I took the car to IRA Toyota in Saco, Maine. They informed me there was no way to 'prove' a defect, as there was no longer a window to inspect. They suggested I call my insurance and lie about the incident, stating that 'nobody would believe a window just blew out' and they were just trying to help me get the repair covered by my insurance. I know there is currently a class-action suit against Honda for this same issue, and found over 20 shared instances in Toyotas (of various models) from 2021,2022, 2023, and 2024. I understand glass is not included in warranties, and I think this only makes sense for manufacturers. The fact that a window could spontaneously shatter at any moment is certainly a safety issue and should be covered under warranties or some other level of accountability. When my window combusted, all of the glass fell into the back window and back seat. If any kids or animals had been in the back seat (as they almost always are), they would have been covered

This is my fourth service visit for the same unresolved safety issue on my 2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. The problem involves a cracked fuel line and fuel vapor leak in the same area as recall 24TC08 (Fuel Tank Filler Clamp and Vapor Leak Detection). The dealership initially failed to detect this during recall work and later claimed “rodent damage” after two prior visits. I have since used a professional-grade MultiRAE Lite gas detector and documented VOC (volatile organic compounds) levels up to 123 ppm inside the vehicle cabin with the windows up. These readings indicate hazardous fuel vapor and exhaust gas intrusion, which pose serious health and fire risks. I have driven over 200 miles in these conditions), exposing myself to harmful fumes. Car has broke down a total of 4 times since I have gotten it from Toyota back in December of 2023. I have a dash-cam now that has footage of the car breaking down. Toyota fails to acknowledge my concerns and comes up with excuses and tells me to wait until it happens more frequently. I would love to have this car inspected, but as Toyota has stated they cannot get the issue to repeat. My safety for others and myself feel uneasy with the whole ordeal as it happens at the most random times. The first few times my car has broke down, the steering wheel locked up and forced itself all the way to the left on its own causing me to hit a curb and median. Manual control over the steering wheel was not possible. Luckily with this occurring both times I was going a slow speed. The other two times I had full control of the wheel but my engine would stop and the engine stopped message would appear on my dash screen. Vehicle has been inspected by the dealership 4 times with no luck on repeating the issue. Breaking down presented a dash message of engine stopped, abs system stopped, power steering stopped and would quickly cycle through warnings and shutdown.

Vehicle Information: * Make: Toyota * Model: Corolla Hybrid AWD * Model Year: 2024 * Current Mileage: [14,000] * Mileage When Problem Noticed: ~8,000-9,000 miles Incident Description: My 2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid AWD has a severe steering defect. After a right turn, the steering wheel consistently fails to return to center, remaining 5-15 degrees (up to 20 for sharp turns) off-center to the right. It does not self-correct. Occasionally, this also occurs after left turns, but less frequently. The vehicle requires constant, active manual correction to stay straight. If I release the wheel, the car can drift right, posing a significant collision risk. The steering feels "floaty" and lacks the expected resistance to return to center. This issue began abruptly around 8,000-9,000 miles. Multiple dealership visits and alignment checks have not resolved it. No prior accidents or modifications. The Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) system functions smoothly, keeping the car centered. However, immediately after disengaging LTA, the manual steering defect reappears, indicating an underlying mechanical problem, not an electronic one. Safety Concern: This defect creates a serious safety hazard. It demands constant driver attention and effort, leading to distraction and fatigue. This compromises directional stability and significantly increases accident risk, as the car will veer off course if not continuously corrected. I urge NHTSA to investigate this defect. I’ve repeatedly requested access to the raw data from this inspection to understand the defect, but Toyota has not responded. Emails to the assigned case manager, Ms. Cynthia Ware, have gone unanswered. When I was directed to reply to a support email, it bounced back as a “do-not-reply” address, redirecting me to a login page which falsely claimed I had no active cases. This created an endless communication loop. Toyota’s lack of transparency and support is unacceptable—especially given the severity of the issue and the fact that the vehicle is still under warranty. I am requesting: Immediate release of the raw diagnostic data from the May 29 inspection A prompt resolution, including full repair, replacement, or buyback Clear, responsive communication from an authorized re

I was leaving out of the parking lot of the shops Santa Anita. I was parked underneath by [XXX] and proceeded to to leave and turn out right towards the wide open parking lot. At the time I was leaving, it was completely empty. This parking lot is wide open as I was leaving and I’m going no more than 15 mph when suddenly a beeping sound goes off and the car slams on its brakes on its own! I didn’t even have enough time to stop on my own and look to see what the alert sound was. The car stop and jerked me so hard and slammed forward so hard. Thankfully I was in an empty open parking lot. That would have cause a very bad car accident and I would have been badly hurt and the car that would have slammed into me from behind! This has left me with so much anxiety and I am now very scared to drive this car at all even. I haven’t even had this car for a year and this is the second time I’ve had an issue with it. And I tried explaining to the dealership that for the past couple weeks to month that when I drive the car, it has this pulling feeling when I’m coasting. It has never felt that way before. This is supposed to be a new car. It doesn’t even have 15,000 miles on it yet! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My [XXX] daughter's 2024 Toyota Corolla stopped in the middle of the road and would not move. She received a message that said, "engine stopped steering power low". She called me in a panic and could not move the car out of traffic. I asked her to turn the car off and back on and it resolved the issue. This could cause a traffic fatality with loss of control of a car in traffic. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was able to distinguish today the car noises my vehicle is making happens when I break. Like a “eeeeek” sound. My mileage is under 8,000, had the car almost a year. Also I notice my wheel stiffens. I’m able to verify it happens when I merge - specifically when the lane dashes end. The wheel somehow gets tight even when driving with both hands. As if the vehicle gets confused. This has happened about 5 times this year but every time it happens- I brace myself for the vehicle to crash since I can’t control the wheel, no matter how strong I try to gain control. The wheel gets too tight to steer. These episodes lasts about 3-4 seconds. I am going to take it to the dealership on April 1, 2025. Also there were no messages on my dashboard when these episodes occurred.

Upon startup in cold weather conditions, a brief but loud grinding/rattling sound will occur. The noise is related to an inadequate spring inside of the intake camshaft gear which will not push a small cylinder in place to lock the intake camshaft gear in place. When not in its proper place, the gear will rattle in its housing, causing the brief noise. If the gear rattles against its housing too hard overtime, it can break and cause catastrophic engine failure by sending metal pieces into the engine, including pistons and rods.

[XXX] In reading the above article, Toyota recalled Corolla Cross Hybrid vehicles with many complaints and situations mirroring our accident. Before the accident, the vehicle displayed no warning signs. Despite the driver pressing the brakes and the assisted braking feature seemingly turning on (e.g., signal lights on the computer system), neither seemed to work in this situation. The damage was far too severe for the assisted braking feature to have activated, along with the driver pressing the brakes. After viewing the matter with those involved in the accident, many of us concurred that we believe either the braking system or the computer system failed. In the aftermath of the accident, the police, manufacturer, or third party hadn't reviewed the vehicle's status. On top of that, our insurance refused to investigate, urging us to discuss the matter with Toyota. Thus, we'd propose that the Corolla SE may experience an issue similar to the vehicles in the article. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My wife and I have been having great difficulty reading the center portion of the instrument panel because the illumination is too dim. We have visited the dealership and were instructed how to maximize the brightness, but it is still not sufficient. The small icons that appear at the top of the center section of the instrument panel cannot be viewed while we are driving, unless we place our head close to the screen. To do this our head must be at the level of the bottom of the front window. In that position we cannot see the highway sufficiently to be “safe.” We both have good vision. In the past, we have owned over thirty automobiles and have never had a problem seeing the instrument panel.I have discovered that occassionally the illumination of the center screen of my instrument panel is fine. The car’s computer apparently dim’s it without my consent. I drove 60 miles (about an hour) on a California freeway, and for the first 20 minutes I had good illumination. Then it suddenly got to its usual dim state. I have asked several people at my Toyora dealership, and they cannot help me. I, therefore, am requesting someone at your offices to look into this problem, and call me by phone to help me solve this important problem. The best way to viualize this problem would be to inspect my auto at my home.

My son reported driving home from school. He was stopped an intersection ready to make a turn. When he stepped on the gas pedal to go, the engine stopped and a message "Engine Stopped, Steering Power Low" message appeared in the dashboard. Engine light and steering light also came "on" the dash. This may occur while driving and put the driver at risk. His 2024 Toyota Corolla was brought in to the Wesley Chapel Toyota Dealership yesterday 10/29/2024. The technician did not find any error codes and found the battery and alternator to be in good working condition. Issue unresolved by the dealership.

This is an issue I have noticed with my car shortly after I bought it. The problem is that the car has a noticable delay in acceleration when accelerating from a complete stop. After doing some research online, I found that the cause was the car's CVT transmission, and that a delay in acceleration happens with other cars with CVT transmissions as well. This could be potentially dangerous especially when making right turns on a red light or when making unprotected lefts on a green, as the window of opportunity to go is sometimes short in those situations, and delaying for even a second could mean the difference between a collision or a safe turn (especially since there are some fast drivers that go much past the speed limit and will appear from behind a hill all of a sudden). What is especially problematic is that the car will rarely accelerate normally when I press the pedal, but I would say around 80-90% of the time, the car will have a delay about 1 second before it actually starts moving. To my knowledge, this problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. I bought the car brand-new about half a year ago so it shouldn't have any problems. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone, and there were no warning lights or any other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. I didn't really notice that this car had this problem when I first drove it home from the dealership because I was not used to so many other aspects of the car,

1 death reported in complaints filed with NHTSA.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
