2024 Ram 3500

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) (Stellantis) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Wagoneer, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Chrysler Pacifica, Ram 3500, Ram 3500 cab chassis, Ram 2500, Ram 4500 cab chassis, Ram 5500 cab chassis, 2023 Jeep Gladiator, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a GVWR less than 10,000 lbs., and Chrysler Voyager vehicles. The steering column control module may not be welded properly, which can prevent the driver's air bag from deploying in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk. An air bag that does not deploy in a crash can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the steering column control module, as necessary free of charge. Some owner notification letters were mailed April 11, 2024 through June 20, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's numbers for this recall are 14B, 33B, 34B, 35B, 36B.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023 Ram 1500 Classic, Ram 3500 Classic, 3500 Cab Chassis, 2023-2024 Ram 2500, 4500/5500 Cab Chassis, and Ram 3500 vehicles. The steering column control module may cause the high beams to activate when the turn signal is used or activate the turn signal when the high beams are used. In addition, the turn signal self-canceling feature may not function properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk. Turn signals and/or high beams that do not function as intended may cause confusion or reduced visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the steering column control module (SCCM) software, and inspect and replace the module, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 19, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's numbers for this recall are B2A and D5A.

Since first test driving the truck in March of 2025, there was an issue with the ABS system warning coming on. When that happens, it also disables 4 wheel drive, electronic stability control, cruise control and trailer brakes. The first 3x it happened while NOT towing at about 45mph. Other times it happened while towing a 16,000# trailer which caused vehicle control issues when braking. I did however discover, in a panic, that the manual trailer brake lever still works. The cause of the ABS system shut down was determined to be code: C0037-2F (Left Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Erratic) It has be brought in to the dealer for repair at the following mileages: 4,478, 4,699, 13,790, 14,745 and 16,487 miles. Since then, the wheel speed sensor has been replaced along with the "tone ring" and other components. Most recently, it was determined that the main wiring harness was pinched and (2) wires for that circuit were shorted. The dealer ran (2) new wires outside the wiring harness. The new wire were also NOT sleeved as per SAE vehicle wiring specifications. They "said" they removed the fuel tank to access the repair, however forensic evidence does not support that. There is still undercoating on the bolt threads. It should have been disturbed or worn off when removing the fasteners. After the repair was made, the problem once again came back while towing a smaller 5,000# trailer on 10/4/26 at approximately 16,654 miles. The failure has occurred about 8 times now since the initial repa

The truck has a CEL P2459. The unit was taken back to the dealer on June 15, 2026, and they diagnosed an aftermarket air cleaner and regeneration. The CEL continued to display P2459, and I returned the truck to the dealer on 9/23. The dealer stated I had a defective air cleaner housing and was willing to pay 80% of the cost. They also said the restriction likely caused the DPF filter to plug because it caused excessive DPF generation. I believe this defective air housing may be on multiple units since these are likely purchased in batches. Ram should replace all air cleaner housings from the manufacturer batch related to my unit. They should also cover any parts caused by this defective air cleaner housing. Ram should cover the plugged Diesel Particulate Filter and the air cleaner housing.

The contact owns a 2024 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while pulling into a parking lot, the transmission was shifted into reverse and then shifted into drive, and the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The vehicle crashed into a concrete post. The contact stated that the front passenger’s side of the vehicle sustained severe damage. The vehicle was taken to a body shop and inspected by the insurance company for a claim. The dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the independent acceleration had occurred several times before the crash. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

The truck is in for its second front end alignment. I bought it brand new in October 2024 and it has about 43000 miles on it. I'm concerned for my family's safety. If it is going out of alignment this often, I don't feel safe driving it. The dealership has no explanation of why its going out so fast. I know I'm not the only one having this problem. There are thousands of people saying they are having the same issues. It was out of alignment from the factory. Pretty much all of them are. Something needs to be done about this. I put today's date but the first time I took it in was less than a year and 20000 miles ago.

Vehicle was in a heavy front collision and the airbags did not deploy.

Loss of various systems while towing 14,000# trailer in hilly terrain. Loss of trailer brakes caused diminished control on the vehicle. * 4WD System Temporarily Unavailable * Service Antilock Brake System * Service Electronic Stability Control * Service Trailer Brake System The issue was previously repaired 3x. The problem originally happened 3x on the same road in the same spot. Right turn off a road, then going up hill. The first 2x lasting less than 10 miles. The 3rd, approximately 6,000 miles. This time (4th) it happened while towing 14,000# trailer. Made a left turn, then proceeded up a hill. Scanned the truck and got code C0037-2F. "Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Erratic". Possibly issue with body / chassis / suspension flex or internal axle component being loose. The sensor was already replaced 2x, along with other components under warranty.

The contact owns a 2024 Ram 3500 equipped with Weigh Safe Trailer Heavy Duty Transfer Hitch Model, Serial Number: (Unknown), also known as the Heavy-Duty Weight Distribution Hitch, True Tow Distribution Hitch Heavy Weight. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, an aluminum pin sheared off, causing the trailer hitch to disconnect from the vehicle. The contact became aware that the trailer was slightly drifting towards the right. The contact released the accelerator pedal, and the trailer slightly lowered and was dragging on the pavement. The contact stopped the vehicle, activated the hazard lights, and reconnected the trailer with a spare trailer hitch. The contact emailed the manufacturer to report the failure and provided photos of the damage. The manufacturer advised the contact to go to the website to file a warranty claim; however, the contact was unable to complete the warranty claim. The failure mileage was unavailable.

PTC heater short circuited, overheated and scorched/melted itself as well as other plastic Hvac components and sent toxic fumes into the passenger compartment via the HVAC vents. This truck has been in 2 different Dodge dealer service departments multiple times for the same failures. After repairs were performed, the same failures occurred on the way home from the dealer. The PTC heater grid sits INSIDE of the HVAC airway. I am now experiencing multiple adverse medical symptoms from these exposures.

I have a 2024 Ram 3500 with 9661miles, equipped with Firestone Transforce AT LT285/60R20 Load range E tires. These tires are date coded 3123 which make them just under 3 years old as of this report. All 4 of the tires have developed spider cracking in the valley of the first set of lugs from the outside sidewalls. It is cracked consistently all around the tire(only in this area, no other cracks exist on the tire). This cracking is consistent and present on all four of the tires. The cracks continue to open up and are to the point that I am afraid to drive the truck. I have been to both the selling dealer and 2 separate Firestone Corporate Sponsored Tire stores for inspections. Everyone seems to agree that this should not happen, but no one wants to take responsibility for the warranty to correct this concern. The selling dealer indicates that they are not responsible for the tire warranty and the Firestone Stores and a district represent have communicated to me that, even though that I purchased the truck brand new, I am not the original purchaser of the tires and therefore they are not covered under warranty. Obviously, a finger pointing exercise and choice by each manufacture to place my safety at risk. I have no choice except to purchase new tires so that I can continue to operate my truck safely. I have pictures of the concerns, and the tires will be available for inspection if requested.

When towing the rear end bounce you in on coming lanes! I saw oil on shock took to dealer they fought me on replacing it then they said they will replace 1 and want to send me down the road 1/2 fixed ! No dealer will replace 1 always in pairs because it will cause un even braking and safety issues ! This was at Auburn jeep [XXX] ! Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2024 Ram 3500. The contact stated that it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 58,449. It was later discovered that the mileage was 169,301 upon scanning the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2024 Ram 3500. The contact stated that the steering wheel buttons had become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with clockspring failure. The contact was informed that the clockspring needed to be replaced. The mechanic related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V199000 (Air Bags, Steering); and referred the contact to the dealer. The dealer was contacted and informed that the VIN was not associated with the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

This complaint involves a 2024 Ram 3500 with an unresolved electrical system issue associated with the rear backup camera and related wiring. The vehicle initially presented with a malfunctioning backup camera, including unclear or distorted image quality, which affects rear visibility and safe operation while reversing. The vehicle was taken to authorized dealerships for repair on multiple occasions. During the course of these repair attempts, the wiring associated with the system was damaged, resulting in an ongoing electrical system issue that has not been resolved. The vehicle has now been out of service for approximately 71 days. Most recently, the authorized dealership confirmed that the required parts to complete the repair are unavailable, there is no estimated timeline for parts availability, and the repair cannot be completed at this time. As a result, there is currently no repair plan in place. This situation raises safety concerns due to the loss of a critical safety feature (rear visibility via the backup camera) and the presence of unresolved electrical system damage. Damaged or compromised wiring may create the potential for electrical malfunction, system instability, or other hazards if the vehicle were to be operated. The inability to repair the vehicle, combined with the lack of available parts and absence of any repair timeline, raises concerns about the overall safety and reliability of the vehicle. The backup (rear) camera worked intermittently, then did not work at all. Safety was put at risk by a lack of image during the backing event. The vehicle was taken to a local Ram dealer, where they reproduced the issue, diagnosed that the camera had an internal malfunction, and replaced the rear camera. No warning messages were displayed, only a black screen when backing.

RAM 3500 truck was purchased in Ventura, CA and has experienced multiple electrical and drivetrain failures beginning shortly after purchase. In January 2025 while traveling in Oregon, the infotainment system repeatedly blacked out and the cruise control button stopped functioning. A dealership replaced the cruise control button, restoring cruise control, but the infotainment problem remained. When the vehicle was returned after the repair, a new defect appeared: the horn button no longer worked. Loss of the horn creates a safety risk because the driver cannot warn other vehicles or pedestrians. Around 20,000 miles during a routine service visit at the selling dealership in Ventura, we reported a driveline vibration. The dealership and the upfitter inspected the vehicle and observed tire cupping. They checked the tires for premature wear and recommended overinflating tires as a remedy. The vibration continued and worsened, the infotainment failures persisted. In October 2025 while driving in Wyoming, the vehicle experienced a major drivetrain failure involving the front differential and axle assembly and required towing. The truck was first towed to the Yeti dealership in Afton, Wyoming, which closed shortly after the vehicle arrived. The truck then had to be towed again to Yeti dealership in Jackson Hole. There, technicians diagnosed front differential and axle assembly as the primary failure and also observed premature wear on aftermarket shocks installed by the upfitter. T

After the engine replacement, the tractor continues to operate unreliably, and I cannot use it in my business because it is unreliable.

On 01/21/2026 there was a warning light that came on stating accelerator control sensor, the next morning the truck started stalling, and continued stalling multiple times. I attempted to get the vehicle to the service center. It then stalled 2 more times, the service center told me they couldn’t look at the truck until the next day, the vehicle then stalled on me again that evening, they kept the truck until Friday evening, and told me they couldn’t duplicate the issue. They knew it had happened, but they couldn’t find the cause without replacing a bunch of parts until they found the correct issue. I took the vehicle home, started it the next morning and the maintenance required issue again returned, I took it back to the service center, they checked the codes, and told me it shows the 3rd taillight is staying on which indicates usually a fuel issue. They then sent me a quote stating a bunch of things that’s already been done to the vehicle outside of their service center, as well as the part they told me was where they had started to diagnose the issue and it didn’t work, all of which are not covered under the current warranties of the vehicle and basically the way I understood it that I would have to keep buying parts and replacing things out of pocket until the drivetrain issues were resolved.

I got this 2024 vehicle brand new with 15 miles on it in August of 2025 . It is now January of 2026 by check engine light had came on 7 times since November of 2025. I had to shut down work because of this . It came on the 8th time today and I was told by the delearship that they didn’t know what to do . My truck is at 43,000 miles and literally a piece of junk.

PTC cabin heater has overheated and replaced 3 times. Each time it filled the passenger compartment with toxic fumes and its a fire hazard. It has not been solved and is still at the dealer. I was towing a 6,000 pound excavator on a 20’ tilt deck trailer and rounded a turn to see a line of traffic stopped waiting on a big truck to turn. I hit the brakes and the truck didn’t start to slow. I swerved to the shoulder and pressed breaks as hard as possible and went past several cars and t boned the big truck that was turning. The only brakes it felt like i had was the trailer brakes. Very severe accident that everyone walked away from but definitely was equipment failure involved.

The contact owns a 2024 Ram 3500. The contact stated that upon purchasing and driving the vehicle, the contact noticed an abnormal odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The dealer was notified and informed the contact that it was a new vehicle odor. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the contact noticed clear smoke coming from the vents. Additionally, the contact stated that the rearview was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cab heater had experienced an internal short circuit, causing the wiring and grid heater to melt. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred while driving. The contact sustained extreme fatigue, sore throat, nausea, headaches, ringing ears, and vomiting. The contact had not received medical assistance but had taken a 3-day leave from work. The dealer was contacted via email and informed the contact that the heater assembly might not be the cause of the failure. The contact was concerned that the vehicle failure could cause a fire. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20.

While traveling down a hill, about 40mph, applied brakes to stop at a T intersection, truck wasn’t slowing down. Engaged engine brake, truck wasn’t slowing. Slammed brake pedal to the floor, ABS did not engage, no vibrations, wheels didn’t lock up, held for 2-3 seconds then started to release and slam brake pedal repeatedly. Truck went through intersection, hit a lot of trees, dropped down a 6’ embankment, air bags did NOT deploy, trucks frame bent on both sides behind the cab.

The contact owns a 2024 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle in colder weather, the message "Pre-heating Diesel" was displayed on the screen. No warning light was illuminated. Several local dealers were contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. There was no recall for the issue associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

I purchased a dodge 3500 truck on October 16th 2024. My truck as of today has 4900 miles on it. It is a one ton dually. I noticed this week two of the rear outside tires have cracks and defective tread. I took it to a tire shop and they confirmed these tires are bad. I tow a 40 foot fifth wheel trailer. If I had had a blowout it could of been a huge problem for myself and those on the road around me. I spoke to the dealership I bought the truck from and they informed me they would have to see the tires and file a report with the manufacture of the tires. I had to buy all 6 new tires because I didn't want to chance a blow out with my trailer on the truck. I googled Nexen tires LT235/80R17 which are my tires. It says these are not rated for a 1 ton dually truck. When used on a dually it says its not the best choice for a 1 ton especially when towing heavy loads. The reason I bought this truck was for the purpose of towing my RV. I made that clear to the sales man at the dealership when I bought this truck. I assumed these tires were rated for this truck. If it's a defect I should be reimbursed from the manufacture for all 6 tires. If it's the dealers fault they should reimburse me. This is definitely a road hazard, a accident waiting to happen.

Excessive Diesel Exhaust Regeneration. Vehicle in in regeneration about 72% of the time. Check engine light comes on about every 2 weeks with code P2459. The P2459 code indicates an issue with the diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration frequency in diesel vehicles. This code is triggered when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects that the DPF regeneration process has not occurred as expected. Have to take to dealership for a manual regeneration and to clear the code. Dealership says this is a known issue for Ram Diesel engines from 2018-2024. Dealership says Ram has yet to address the issue even though its been 7 years since the issue started in the 2018 model year. Been dealing with this for a year now.

The brakes do not apply until after the pedal reaches half of its travel distance and still not as good they should. Very soft pedal feeling and too long of pedal travel to apply brakes. Very unsafe! I have had it to the dealer 3 times for this condition since I had purchased it (New) on June 5, 2025. They bled the brakes and found a small omaunt of air in the system. This did not change the braking condition at all. They cannot seem to find the problem. Service advisor did tell me that recently another customer brought in his 2024 Ram heavy duty pickup with the same issue.

As I was exiting the highway with a loaded trailer carrying approximately 10,000 pounds, the ABS and brake warning lights illuminated on the dash, along with a “No Trailer Brakes” notification. When I applied the brakes to slow down, there was little to no braking response. Fortunately, I was able to safely pull off the road. The truck has now been at the dealership for two weeks, and the technicians have yet to identify a solution.

Every time I turn my left turn signal on my headlights high beams come on weather headlights are turned on or not even if I have my headlights on on low beam, it does not do it when I turn my right turn signal on. It does it whether I have my auto headlights on or off. I'm sure it's been happening longer than that that's just the first time I was informed by someone I was following on the highway

We bought our 2024 3500 Dodge RAM in Florida in late March. Last weekend the truck started to feel like it was jerking while we were pulling our 5th wheel. On Monday we schedule an appointment in Brockton Massachusetts at a dealership. We were told there need to be a system update and that it was all set. On Wednesday we started our 3 hour drive to Maine when suddenly while we were on the highway the truck began to overheat and revving loud only going 35mph. We pulled over into a parking lot and called RAM roadside assistance. We were told to let the truck cool down and try again. After being in a parking lot with our 4 kids and 2 dogs in 100 degree weather for 6 hours we attempted to start the truck. However every time we put it in drive the truck shut off. At this time we had to get it towed for $300, today the local RAM autoshop is saying they looked at the truck and transmission is gone. They are also saying they will not be able to look at the truck for a month. We travel full-time in our RV and now are stranded with our RV and no way to pull it anywhere.

SCCM Internal failure that the dealer is calling an Air Bag Clock Spring failure. Safety Recall 33B and 14B already exist for my make and year of vehicle, but do not cover my VIN. The turn signal gets stuck leading to a hazard for the operator and those around.

When applying the brakes when coming to a stop, just before the truck comes to a full stop the brakes grab and release. If I let off the brakes right before I stop it is way worst. This is a major concern for my safety and my family's safety.

Driver side wheel center cap flew off vehicle at highway speeds under normal operation. This poses an immediate danger to life and property by becoming a projectile which may lead to an accident, cause property damage, and injury.

The contact forcefully depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000. The VIN was not available.

Vehicle displayed warnings: Service Antilock Brakes Service Electronic Stability Control Service Trailer Brake System The truck has only 4,650 miles on it. When this happens, the above systems do not work along with the 4 wheel drive system. When towing a heavy trailer, the loss of trailer brakes can easily cause an accident due to jackknifing of the trailer and greatly increased stopping distance. Loosing 4 wheel drive in snow or mud can cause an accident or getting stuck.

The contact owns a 2024 Ram 3500. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, the contact became aware that the side view mirror extender feature was not functioning as needed, compromising the visibility from the sideview. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the mirror extender switch had an electrical fault. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 73.

I was towing a 18000 lb fifth wheel rv about 45 mph when traffic made a panic stop in front of me. I couldn’t stop and had an accident. I later determined the brake controller on truck didn’t provide the 12 volts needed to get maximum braking from the fifth wheel brakes. I took it to the dealer and they confirmed that at slower speeds it doesn’t give maximum voltage. They contacted Ram engineer to find a fix but was informed that that it was operating as designed. This controller design was definitely the cause of this accident. I was only getting 8 volts for the trailer brakes. I contacted Cargo Brake ( manufacturer of trailer brake system) and they told me they have had many complaints from Ram owners about this problem. They recommended that I purchase an aftermarket controller which I did. It gives me maximum voltage for full braking from the fifth wheel at any speed. I should also state that my truck was new with only 2500 miles on it. I was not informed by the dealer or able to gain knowledge of this controller design anywhere in the Ram information provided in the owners manual. This is an extremely hazardous design not permitting maximum braking at slower speeds.

The contact owned a 2024 RAM 3500. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and idling on the driveway, it caught on fire in the engine compartment. The vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. The origin of the fire was unknown. The entire engine compartment was burnt and the vehicle was destroyed. The vehicle remained at the scene where it caught on fire. No injuries were sustained. A fire department report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,600.

The security system was not installed nor does it work. Our truck had a window smashed and the truck was broken into. The alarm never went off, nor did the lights flash. There is an indication the security system was never installed at the time of manufacturing. Property was stolen out of the vehicle and the thief was successful at breaking into our truck. At the time of the purchase of the truck, the security system is listed in the bill of sale.

Truck was parked on 5% slope, and transmission shifted into park, and parking brake set. Transmission then made a popping noise, and shifted into reverse, and vehicle started moving backwards. Parking brake failed to hold vehicle. Applied brakes, and shifted into park again, and set parking brake, and it didn't reoccur.

My new truck lost power on highway. Parking position didn't hold the car from movement. My car didn't drive forward and rear. Dealership said that its transfer case issue.

The contact owns a 2024 Ram 3500 equipped with Nexen Tires, Tire Line: Roadian HTX RH5, Tire Size: LT235/80/R17, DOT Number: 8EX6CMFR2223. The contact stated while driving approximately 65-70 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal sound and felt the steering wheel vibrate. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and noticed that the front passenger's side tire had a blowout. The contact stated that there was no impact to the tire that could have caused a blowout. Additionally, the TPMS failed to alert the contact of the failure. The contact replaced the front passenger's side tire with the spare tire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the TPMS failed to illuminate because the failure occurred unexpectedly. The spare front passenger's side tire was replaced with a new tire; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The tire manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the failure was related to the tire. The tire failure mileage was 700. The VIN was not provided.

Truck wiring harness is rubbing against the front driver's side body mount, this is a known issue on these trucks, and causes the wiring harness to start rubbing, causing electrical failures, and may cause accidents. Others have stated this occurred to their truck before it reached 50,000 miles. I just checked my 7,000 mile, and found the wiring harness was rubbing.
