2019 Honda Ridgeline

Defect. American Honda Motor Company (Honda) is recalling certain 2016-2022 Honda Pilot, 2017-2023 Ridgeline, 2019-2023 Passport, and 2014-2020 Acura MDX vehicles that were sold in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, or Wisconsin. The rear subframe may corrode at the suspension mounting points, which can result in rear suspension component failure.

Risk. Failure of rear suspension components, such as the rear control arm, can cause a loss of vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect the rear subframe and install a rear subframe reinforcement kit and, as necessary, repair or replace the rear subframe components, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed July 27, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in the fall of 2026. The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, which can cause the air bags to deploy unintentionally during a crash.

Risk. Air bags that deploy unintentionally during a crash increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 7, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.

Risk. Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed September 6, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are KGC and KGD. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall numbers 21V-215 and 20V-314.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Acura TLX, 2016-2020 Acura MDX, 2016 and 2018-2019 Pilot, 2017 and 2019 Ridgeline, and 2018-2019 Odyssey vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the connecting rod bearing in the engine may wear and seize, damaging the engine.

Risk. A damaged engine may run improperly or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a fire, crash, or injury.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and repair, or replace the engine as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 28, 2024. 2016-2017 Acura MDX owner letters were mailed November 1, 2024. 2016-2020 Acura MDX owner letters are expected to be mailed in mid-December 2024. Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Ridgeline vehicles. Opening and closing the tailgate may break the rearview camera wiring harness, causing the rearview camera to fail.

Risk. An inoperative rearview camera can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the rearview camera wiring harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 31, 2023. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is 6RW.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 Passport, 2016-2019 Pilot, and 2017-2020 Ridgeline vehicles. The hood latch striker may become damaged and separate from the hood, which can result in the hood opening while driving.

Risk. A hood that opens while driving can obstruct the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will either repair the hood latch striker, or replace the hood if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 18, 2022. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is PBV.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Acura MDX, MDX Sport Hybrid, RDX, TLX, Honda Accord, Civic Hatchback, Insight, 2019 Acura ILX, Honda Accord Hybrid, Civic Coupe, Civic Coupe Si, Civic Sedan, Civic Sedan Si, Civic Type R, Fit, HR-V, Odyssey, Passport, Pilot and Ridgeline, and 2018-2019 CR-V vehicles. The low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.

Risk. Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed May 18, 2021. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 20V-314.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling all Honda Genuine Accessory Tonneau Covers, part number 08Z07-T6Z-100F, sold for installation on 2017-2020 Ridgeline trucks. If the tonneau cover is not properly secured in the open or closed position, wind resistance may cause the cover to flip and buckle. If this occurs, the hinges between the center and rear panel may deform, possibly allowing the rear panel to separate from the vehicle.

Risk. A separated panel may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of crash or injury.

Remedy. Honda will notify all registered owners of 2017-2020 Honda Ridgelines, and dealers will install tethers onto any Honda Genuine Accessory Tonneau Cover to prevent panel separation and apply warning labels, free of charge. In addition, an updated accessory user's information manual will be provided. The recall began October 26, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Acura MDX and Honda Pilot vehicles and 2019 Acura RLX, RLX Sport Hybrid, TLX and Honda Odyssey and Ridgeline vehicles. The timing belt teeth may separate from the belt.

Risk. Teeth separation from the timing belt may result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of crash.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace any affected timing belt free of charge. Vehicles receiving a replacement timing belt will also have the engine inspected and any damaged components will be replaced for free. The recall began June 7, 2019. Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Ridgeline trucks. Exposure to acids, such as from car wash soaps, can result in the fuel pump feed port cracking.

Risk. A crack in the fuel pump feed port can allow pressurized fuel to leak out, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, if necessary, and install a fuel pump cover, free of charge. The recall began March 14, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. The recall number for this recall is Q3V.

Oil light flash and I receive a alarm from emssion system problem. I stop to check the oil quantity and it was OK. I was near home and to motor just stop and can not start the motor the crank is seize. My NIV is not on Honda recall for the engine problem about the connecting rod bearings so Honda don't won't to covert anytime for my problem. A lot of people seen to have the same problem.

On [XXX], at [XXX] am MDT, the closed sunroof on our 2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL exploded, without warning, while we were driving northbound on [XXX] north of [XXX]. At the time of the sunroof exploding, there were no cars close to us, in front or behind, and no overpass overhead. The glass projectiles of the sunroof, at high velocity, entered the cabin, struck and cut the back of my wife's left hand. My wife and I were covered in shards of glass. I could see a cloud of glass shards fall to the surface of the freeway in my rearview mirror at the time of the explosion. The vehicle is currently being serviced and estimated for damages at Ralph Schomp Honda in Highlands Ranch, CO. NHTSA Recall Campaign Number Associated: 22V430000 (Honda Codes AOU/AOT) My 2019 Honda Ridgeline is registered in Maine (a designated salt-belt state) and has a completely rusted-through rear subframe. The local authorized Honda dealership inspected the vehicle and officially grounded it, stating it is fundamentally unsafe to drive and cannot pass Maine State Inspection due to structural failure at the suspension mounting points. Despite the clear language of Recall 22V430000 requiring Honda to "repair or replace affected components free of charge" if they fail inspection, American Honda Corporate has officially denied coverage. Corporate customer service stated they are not responsible for corrosion caused by winter road materials. This directly contradicts the purpose of this federal recall, which was issued because improper factory paint adhesion left the subframe vulnerable to road salt. Honda is actively violating federal law by refusing to provide the mandated remedy for a structurally failed, unsafe vehicle. American Honda Case Number: 1656861

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. While the contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle hesitated and failed to accelerate as intended. The check engine and emissions warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with fuel injector failures. The contact was informed that fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced another time. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

I have an engine failure at 99k miles. The car is in pristine condition inside out. Oil changes are done every 5k miles. Without any warning, check engine light or any indication from the car's computer, the engine just failed while driving. It sounded like there was something grinding inside the engine. The truck was towed to Honda dealer and they said I need a new engine replacement. They found metal shavings in the engine oil. The invoice indicates "Found more has bad rod knock recommend replace engine assembly"

The contact stated that there was a knocking sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and then to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with a lower-end rod bearing failure and a damaged crankshaft. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 87,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while reversing out of a parking spot, the vehicle stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The contact pushed the vehicle into the parking spot. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and NHTSA Action Number: PE25008 (Engine). The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rod fractured, causing the engine to seize. The dealer suggested an engine replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, filed a case, and advised the contact that he might be contacted within a week. The failure mileage was approximately 84,300.

My wife and I had decided to empty our storage unit, so on Memorial Day we began moving everything into the garage. After five or six trips Honda, I pulled the car up beside the RV and close to the house for what turned out to be the last load. I unloaded my bicycle and nearly everything else, leaving only a few small items, and then removed the massage table from the back seat. The engine was off this entire time. That was when I noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. At first, I thought the radiator had overheated, so I tried to open the hood, but it was too hot. I went into the garage for gloves and a fire extinguisher and tried again, but still could not get it open. Realizing the situation was getting worse and that I could not stop it there, I jumped into the car and tried to start it. To my surprise, it started immediately, and I drove it as fast as I could out to the street in front of the house. Only later did I realize that this likely saved my RV—and possibly the front of my house as well—from catching fire. We were so blessed that I was able to move the car to a safer location and no one was hurt. It was a miracle.

While operating my 2019 Honda Ridgeline at normal driving speed, the vehicle experienced a sudden and catastrophic engine failure without warning. Immediately prior to failure, a loud metallic knocking/hammering noise developed from the engine area. Within seconds, the engine lost power and shut off completely while the vehicle was in motion. After the shutdown, the vehicle would not restart. Attempts to start the engine resulted in minimal or no crank, even when using a jump start. The vehicle had to be towed. A subsequent inspection determined that the engine had no compression, indicating severe internal mechanical failure. The failure occurred abruptly and without any prior warning lights, temperature issues, or drivability concerns. This failure created a significant safety hazard, as the vehicle lost all power while driving, which could have resulted in a loss of control or increased risk of collision, especially in higher-speed or traffic conditions.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that the rear-view camera was inoperable, and a black screen or a flashing screen was displayed. The contact owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. A diagnostic test revealed codes for the catalytic converter efficiency below threshold Bank 2, and Bank 2 air-fuel ratio imbalance. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and the dealer referenced NHTSA ID Number: 10187289 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

The contact's boyfriend owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while her boyfriend was driving at highway speeds, there was an abnormal banging sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle entered LIMP Mode with the check engine and emissions warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was pulled off to the shoulder of the highway and was later towed to the dealer. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the mechanic discovered that an engine rod had gone through the engine block, resulting in engine failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle. A case was filed with the dealer for financial assistance, but the case was denied. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.

I own a 2019 Honda Ridgeline rtl. I presently have 66000 miles and am having issues with my engine emmision system, the number 2 sensor keeps going off and on and fuel rpm at 1.5 make my truck sputter until it gets pass 2 rpms. The lights going off and on! And the media system goes from music to GPS and volume goes up and down spontaneously! Honda in Calhallen Texas say no recalls on it! Not sure what is going on i just don't want it to leave me in the road! I take care of my vehicles with the miles it has it shouldn't be having these many mechanical problems. Hope you can help or advise!

On 1/5/2026 while pulling unto a major intersection, my 2019 Honda Ridgeline with 64,000 miles suddenly jolted, lost engine power, and every dash light came on indicating that all electronics were inoperable. Fortunately there was no fast moving on coming traffic. After examination in mechanics shop, it was found that the camshaft was bad. attached is the $3,900.00 invoice. Attached also is a picture of the sensor showing that the camshaft was moving and hitting the sensor which caused the truck to go into safe mode. According to your own investigation and speaking to the Honda service department, this obvious is a factory defect that Honda needs to address. The cam obviously is not strong enough. There are 4.3 million complaints. I want to be reimbursed or will never, ever buy a Honda product. This is a safety issue as well as a consumer protection issue.

The engine light came on and cam shaft caused the rod bearing to fail. I see there is a recall 23v751. But my vehicle vin. Is not on it 2019 honda ridgeline

This is my second Honda ridgeline. The first was a 2014 model. This 2019 ridgeline has a distinctive metal knocking noise in the engine when running. The noise gets quite loud the colder the initial startup and under initial load. It gets quieter after running on the highway for a distance. I took it to the dealer several years ago but the noise was hard to hear after running the interstate for 20 miles. The mechanic told me there was "nothing wrong". I think there is. I know what this engine is supposed to sound like. This VIN number should have been in the 2023 Ridgeline engine recall.

The Transmission error continues to flash on the dash. It has now happened on four (4) occasions. Transmission was flushed and still occurs. Diagnostic Error Code P0741 stored. Torque Converter issue. Honda has extended the warranty for most of these vehicles, mine is not showing in the extension. However, it appears to meet all the specifications that it should be covered. Have it at the dealership which confirms all above. They claim Honda Corporate has to decide to extend the warranty. Talked to Honda Corporate today and they said the NHTSA has to extend the warranty, they do not decide.

My engine started knocking from the connecting rod bearings and my vehicle is now not usable. The active recall on 2017 and 2019 Ridgelines is not covering my VIN and I have read many others are having the same issue. This issue if left untreated could cause my vehicle to die resulting in a loss of power. The manufacturer is refusing to repair the issue.

(This incident report is for my replacement transmission, I have already submitted an incident report for my original transmission which also failed in the exact same manner.) 1. My replacement transmission started bucking and clanging and down shifted extremely hard while I was driving in traffic, I lost all power and the vehicle would not accelerate but the RPM's kept rising. 2. My safety was at risk because I lost power while in traffic and my vehicle became disabled on the road and I required the assistance of good Samaritans to help move my car off the road way, causing their safety to be at risk too. 3. My vehicle has been inspected by Honda. Their recommendation was to replace the original transmission, so I did, and the second transmission (the subject of this incident report) also failed, in the same manner. 4. The vehicle monitoring system did not give any prior warning that something was wrong till after the vehicle bucked, down shifted and lost power, only then did the car warnings go off and say "Transmission system" and then "emissions system"

While driving to work, engine started knocking, engine and battery light came on, then engine shut off....all of this in a matter of seconds. I coasted to a stop and had truck trailered to my dealer.
