Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra HD 2500, 3500 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in Park.

Risk. An unlatched tailgate may open and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Owners are advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving. Dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 17, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N242469160. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA Recall 24V-060.

Risk. A steering arm that disconnects may result in a total loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the steering gear, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 22, 2023. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N232414720.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 3500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to start the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to start. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that the battery was drained. The battery was recharged. The contact stated that while driving, there was an abnormal odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery was overheating. The contact was informed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that an incompatible battery was installed in the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

The gauge cluster flickers and goes blank completely while driving, over head windshield screen display still works, and throws an - Accretion speed limited- message. Truck has electronics software issues, climate control flickers, works sometimes, most times doesn’t, loose electrical connections. Over all the gmc truck is a major software glitch and GMC does not want to take accountability for there lemon product which is very costly in repairs. Gmc service is not great and the warranty period of 36,000 miles is not justifiable. My truck has 68,000 all highway miles, not city miles. 2024 gmc Denali top in its class, and still has more issues than my 2007 gmc Sierra

While operating my 2024 GMC Sierra EV Edition 1 at approximately 21,000 miles, a "Service Power Steering" warning appeared. Steering effort initially increased and then rapidly progressed to a near-complete loss of power steering assist. The steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn, making anything more than a gradual sweeping turn nearly impossible. I was able to safely exit the roadway into a parking lot. After shutting down and restarting the vehicle, steering assist returned to normal. No crash or injury occurred, but I believe this represents a significant safety risk because loss of steering assist at highway speed could result in loss of vehicle control.

Vehicle lost power, seemed to slip while pulling hills, Exhaust brake didn't seem to work. Dealer determined cause by DTC P209. Tested injector circuit, found loose terminal tension at injector number 6 connector. Replaced Cylinder # 6 injector connector. Did have multiple warning lights. Also submitting because Service Bulletin 23-NA+027 covered up to 2023. Believe it's an ongoing issue since vehicle is a 2024.

I am reporting a recurring potential safety defect involving the front fender liners on my 2024 GMC Sierra 3500. The vehicle currently has approximately 10,000 miles. During that time, at least five front fender liners have been replaced across both sides of the vehicle for the same recurring problem. During highway driving, the front fender liners appear to lose their intended shape and rigidity. Portions of the liner deform or move inward and make physical contact with the rotating front tires. The condition has continued to recur despite multiple replacement liners being installed. I am concerned that continued contact between the liner and tire can generate friction and heat and could potentially cause damage to the tire, liner, or surrounding components. Because the condition occurs at highway speeds and involves direct contact with a rotating tire, I believe it represents a potential safety issue rather than simply a cosmetic or durability problem. Replacing the liners with the same components has not permanently corrected the condition. After approximately five liner replacements in only 10,000 miles, I am concerned there may be an underlying issue involving the liner design, material rigidity, mounting method, or aerodynamic forces acting on the liner at highway speeds. I have reported the recurring issue to GMC/dealer service and am requesting that the manufacturer investigate the underlying cause rather than continue replacing the liners with identical components. Integrated trailer brake control system goes in and out of working order while towing either one of my trailers. one being a boat trailer and the other being a travel trailer. Have taken to local GMC dealer several times and they changed the rear plug the first time, which did not fix the issue. big safety concern if I can't stop my vehicle and what I am towing. Dealer claims it is most likely trailer issue but both these trailers brakes work perfect when towed with other truck. I see that they are having a big problem with this but they claim my VIN number is not included in the recall. Yet I am having the exact same issues. I get on and off warnings TRAILER BRAKES DISABLED SERVIC REQUIRED 10 to 30 times during a one day drive. And yes the trailer brakes do not work when this happens

Battery voltage low and required a jump to start. Advised battery had to much resistance. Drove to dealership. Upon pulling out on to highway without warning sudden engine loss and stalls. Steering column locked and shortly after the brakes locked up making it to where the vehicle could not be moved. This is a major safety issue and WILL lead to a fatality. My drivers side door exposed to oncoming traffic on a highway. 2 tow trucks, multiple technicians to coordinate keeping jumper cables on long enough to keep the brakes functioning to move the vehicle. Once the power was lost the vehicle seized. This happens on an actual interstate or railroad crossing YOU WILL HAVE FATALITIES!! This vehicle needs an immediate recall and pulled off the road! It took 6 hours to get this truck moved! This happens on the interstate or railroad crossing and sits for that duration due to everything locking up people will die as a result!

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 3500. The contact stated that the tailgate frequently opened independently while the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages); however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by a dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. Since I purchased this truck in 2023 brand new as a 2024 the shifting has been very abrasive. It shifts far excessively harder than it should and I have brought this to the dealership’s attention many times. Now I am finding out that there is a massive recall on this vehicle’s transmission because of these issues that have been happening. The error codes are P0700 and P0747 The Engine and Transmission System is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the Transmission System that transfers power from the engine to the drive wheels. You may experience reduced power or shifting issues.If the vehicle is continually driven with the check engine light on, the emission controls might not work as well, the vehicle fuel economy might not be as good, and the engine might not run as smoothly. This could lead to future repairs.

"The integrated trailer brake system abruptly fails while towing heavy loads, completely disabling trailer break stopping power and creating an imminent threat of highway crash and serious bodily injury." The sound system inherently stops working and will not produce sound from any device in the truck weather that be Hazards, Blinkers, Radio including AM,FM, Sirus Radio, Bluetooth or Car play as well as OnStar. The truck has been taken to a certified GMC dealer 4 times for these exact issues with also being provided the service bulletin information #N232414840 dated July 16, 2025 stating that the 2024 gmc 2500/3500 HD trucks requiring a new Trailer Break Control Module. This issue has been on going from September 2025 and still an issue as July 16, 2026 and still in the Shop today with a call back stating ready for pick up with the same module but dealer stated re flashed module. ( this is the 3rd reflash )

Transmission valve body failure contestant with Recall # N242454440. Dealer diagnosed valve body failure and corrective action of Valve body rebuild. I would like 2024 models to be included with this recall for proper repair per Special Coverage # N242454441.

The control arm bearing appears to have failed without warning causing loss of steering control. This occurred at low speed on a street in [XXX] last night near a gas station, so the driver was able to drive to a safe location easily without risk to life. Had the failure happened at speed a possibly fatal collision would have been likely. The vehicle has been used for the past 8 months to drive to work and has not been subject to any stress. It has not been modified. The tow truck driver said he has seen a number of other control arm failures recently, not necessarily in the same vehicle type. It may be due to bad pot holes this year in [XXX] , they are bigger and deeper than normal. This information is based on assessment by tow truck driver last night. The service department has identified "gasoline contamination" as the cause of a fuel system failure; however, this diagnosis is directly contradicted by both the shop’s internal test results and independent laboratory analysis.the shop performed an API Gravity test and a Styrofoam cup test.•API Gravity Result (35): According to GM Service Information (GMSi), the standard API range for #2 diesel is 30–39. result of 35 is a textbook "pass" for clean diesel. Gasoline contamination would typically spike this number into the 50s.GMSi protocol indicates that gasoline-contaminated diesel will melt a cup within 30 minutes.results only provided a "softened bottom," which is an inconclusive result per GMSi standards.Sinclair Refinery lab confirms the fuel sample taken from my vehicle is within 100% of factory specifications for diesel, with zero gasoline or DEF detected.Violation of GM Service Protocols even assuming the shop’s diagnosis of contamination was correct, the repair performed deviates dangerously from GMSi requirementsFor a 2024 L5P Duramax that has been cranked with contaminated fuel, GMSi (e.g., Bulletin 16-NA-376) mandates the replacement of the entire high-pressure fuel system, including the pump, both fuel rails, and all eight fuel injectors. shop replaced only the pump and cleaned the lines. The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there would be a diesel odor coming into the cabin of the vehicle. The failure had become more persistent, causing black smoke to enter the cabin of the vehicle. The failure caused the contact and other vehicle passengers to have headaches, nausea, and dizziness. While driving approximately 65 MPH, the contact began speaking to their daughter, sitting in the front passenger seat, and noticed her not responding. When looking over, the contact noticed her daughter's head was lowered. The contact immediately pulled over to the side of the road, where she pulled her daughter out of the vehicle and called an ambulance. A fire truck was also dispatched in order to drive the vehicle to the fire department, where they tested the vehicle; however, they were unable to duplicate the failure. The contact's daughter was taken to the hospital, where it was determined that she had suffered from carbon dioxide poisoning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) was clogged, and that the Exhaust Manifold and Turbo Inlet were both fractured, causing a blockage in the Engine Bank. It was determined that all the avenues through which air and carbon should have been exiting the vehicle had failed and were causing everything to come into the cabin of the vehicle instead. This 2024 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty has experienced a continuous pattern of major mechanical and electrical failures since early ownership. The vehicle required a complete engine replacement under warranty at approximately 43,626 miles. Since that time, the vehicle has continued to experience repeated injector failures, control module faults, communication errors, and voltage-related system issues. Current diagnostic codes indicate multiple simultaneous failures including ignition relay feedback circuits, control module power faults, gateway communication loss, brake system communication faults, and battery voltage circuit errors. The dealership has diagnosed a power distribution / fuse block failure at approximately 79,000 miles. These electrical failures affect multiple vehicle systems and raise concerns regarding reliability and potential safety risks due to loss of communication between control modules and possible braking system interaction. The vehicle has been in the dealership numerous times for repairs including engine replacement, injector replacement, control module reprogramming, and electrical diagnostics. I am submitting this complaint due to concern over a potential systemic electrical defect and ongoing reliability issues.

Rear wheel lockup event in traffic while towing 24000lb 5th wheel on freeway. Vehicle was limped to a dealer, diagnosed as a transmission valve body failure. Repair took over 1 month stranding us over 1500 from home while on a trip.

The engine oil drained into the radiator from a flaw in there design in which outrageously high labor cost for the owner of the vehicle they put a rubber house in the radiator in which leaked without any warning indicating that there was a problem with the oil nor the radiator coolant system. repairs are in the thousand and I as a consumer should have this matter resolved at no cost due to bad design cost they should have made a oil cooler with its own separation compartment like the transmission cooler because they are replaceing everything else what about the engine itself thats still going to be contaminated like all the replacement part, seal hoses,and radiator, coolant, and thermostat. How can just parts be contaminated but not the engine? They are just replacing things that costs alot. This is a drive train issue, there were no oil in the engine.

My truck is experiencing the Brake Controller failures as documented in GM Bulletin N232414840 - Customer Satisfaction Program Intermittent Loss of Trailer Brakes. This problem has occurred several times over the past year. I thought it was the wiring on my trailer - so I checked and found no problems (plus it works properly on other tow vehicles). Additionally, the problem resets and works properly after turning the truck off and back on (resets the system). It then works properly until it unexpectedly disconnects again. I thought the problem was unique to my vehicle until I got online and discovered that this is a known issue for others as well (2024 GM HD trucks). I contacted my GM dealer (and GM's customer satisfaction center as noted in the bulletin) and they informed me that my truck is not covered under this recall (not one of the covered VINs). I told them that I'm having this issue and they told me to report the problem to the NHTSA. Needless to say, GM has not included all the applicable vehicles in their recall (like mine) and I need the issue corrected before it causes a serious accident.

Front wheel well liners keep falling out of place like they are melting. happens when towing and engine gets hotter than normal. Trailer is well below limit for vehicle. Liners fall onto the tire while in motion. This is the 4th time this issue has happened to my vehicle. Dealer replaces them and says it happens all the time.

When I got it back I noticed a vibration when breaking. I took the truck back in to find it had bluing on the rotors and the break pads have holes in them. I was told this came from over heating. I looked up info to see if this was a common problem and found the in 2022 GM changed the material to help with noise problems and this material had been know of premature break problems. I called GM customer service and they told me to work with the dealership, the dealership called the district manager and all parties have decided to ignore the issue. I'm reaching out for urgent help regarding my 2024 GMC AT4, which is currently at Newby Buick GMC in St. George, Utah, with a transmission failure that occurred on Saturday, [XXX]. While returning from a horse show in Ogden, Utah, the truck began to experience severe transmission issues near Santaquin, Utah, around 5:30 p.m. Just before reaching Santaquin, the truck jerked violently three times-so hard that I immediately checked the camera system inside my horse trailer to make sure one of my horses hadn't gone down. That's how intense the jolt was. I pulled into a gas station in Santaquin and called the dealership right away. At the time, I had three horses on board, it was nearly 100 degrees, and I was hauling a large living quarters horse trailer. The service manager was initially unavailable, but he returned my call shortly and advised me to continue driving to St. George at a steady speed if the truck could manage it. He also warned that it might go into limp mode, and in that case, I'd just be traveling very slowly. My husband was on standby in case he needed to meet me halfway, but I was hopeful that I could make it to at least Hurricane, Utah. I was able to access my GMC app on my phone at the time and confirmed to him that the transmission check light was on, and I was receiving a warning notification on the app indicating there was a transmission issue. The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 3500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 60 MPH and towing a Forest River Riverstone Legacy 5th Wheel trailer, the brake pedal was depressed to slow for oncoming stopped traffic; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed with the “Service Trailer Brake” warning light illuminated. The contact was able to stop however, the brake pedal had to be depressed to the floorboard to slow the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer and was made aware of Customer Satisfaction Program: N232414840 - and replaced the Trailer Brake Power Module (TBPM). The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact returned the vehicle to the same dealer and the Trailer Brake Power Module was replaced a second time. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact had taken the vehicle to another dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the failure was with the 5th Wheel RV. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

Tailgate opens when in park. Caused damage when parked in the garage. The tailgate hit the garage door. Recall under N242469160, but not attached to my VIN

Battery would not hold charge and would need jump start. Transmission would not stay in gear while towing trailer and would only go to 5th or 6th gear and would jerk out of gear and oil temperatures would go to 225 degrees. Erratically shifting and while driving with cruise control stop with out warning

Windshield issues. Small debris creates significant chips and cracks on windshield. In 30 years of owning vehicles I have never had a chip. Had this vehicle one year and 3 significant cracks and three chips. Anything that hits the windshield does damage. Very dangerous issue that needs addressed. A windshield is a safety issue and one that cracks so easily is completely unsafe!

The contact was advised by the local dealer that the engine might need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Transmission has a bad vibration at low RPMs under acceleration as well as slipping and hard shifts. A few times the transmission has locked up the briefly. It also runs very hot between 180 and 249 degrees. Have been researching this when I came across all the problems and recalls however nothing listed for my VIN

The Vader Chrome on the front of vehicle is peeling. This includes the grille and surrounding areas. This area has been inspected by a representative at GMC and at a dealership. GMC refuses to stand by their product.

Nothing has happened so far but I believe they have an issue with the Allison transmission. When you first start off in the morning driving slow the transmission shifts hard with a thump. I've taken it in to the GMC dealership in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and they kept the truck overnight and said everything seems to work as it should. I just traded my 2021 gmc 3500hd dually with 130k miles on it and never heard that or ever had an issue so I'm not sure what changed since then? I'm not sure what you guys can do to look into it? Car will not turn off and will display "Shift to Park". Similar recall on other models. This has gotten worse and happens most of the time now.

Breaks and/or drive train. It is available for inspection. 1) Breaks sink causing slowed break time and decreased breaking ability. If the breaks are "pumped", more often than not, they will come back up to full pedal. However, in an emergency breaking situation, there is not time to "pump" the breaks. I was nearly in an accident recently when the break pedal would not stop the truck in time, due to the soft break pedal. I literally had to steer to the shoulder of the road. 2) When placing transmission in Drive or Reverse from the park position, then taking foot off of break pedal, there is about a 1 - 2 foot roll, then the truck stops as if the e-break has been engaged (but it is not engaged). By tapping the accelerator, it will "break free" (with a popping sound and a slight "jerk" in the truck) and then roll fine. This does not always happen ~ guestimate of about 10% of the time. 3) I don't know if this is related, but when I set the Drive Mode to "Normal", it automatically goes to "Off Road" ~ this happens no matter the driving conditions. This isn't safety related necessarily, however, it may be a part of the total problem.... It also decreases my fuel economy. I took the truck to the local GMC dealer/shop. They said the truck had 2 recalls and they took care of those. They believed one of the recalls would help solve the "sticking" when placing in Drive or Reverse ~ it did not. They also (supposedly) checked the breaking system and took it for a test drive. They said th

First incident we were driving on the interstate towing a fifth wheel RV, and several warning lights illuminated before everything just shut down. Manage to get to the side of the road. Vehicle finally restarted and the rest of the trip was uneventful. Second incident, vehicle had not run for two days, got in and while the starter cranks, the engine will not start or run. Engine/Transmission service and fuel system service messages showing on app and on email from OnStar. Vehicle requires towing to dealer.

On at least 5 occasions, my inner tailgate has released itself and gone down during motion. This has been uncommanded. It appears GM has a recall for this but it does not include my truck. The dealership that looked into it agrees this is likely the same issue and GM should include it in the recall.

On multiple occasions, the vehicle has suffered from a severe computer failure. This results in the driver information center losing all data, the climate system shutting down, loss of all driver assistance features, loss of computer based safety systems, and prevents the vehicle from shutting down or being restarted until the batteries are disconnected. This results in the driver having no information about speed or engine parameters while driving. This error has not been reproducible by the dealer however they were able to assess it while one error occurred while driving by them. Their diagnostics show a complete failure of all 3 data buses and failure of the serial data gateway. Troubleshooting thus far has been unsuccessful. During the failure, all errors possible are lit on the warning lamps and the driver information center displays warnings for all vehicle modules. The attached photo was taken during one of the events after pulling off the freeway. While traveling at freeway speeds, the information on the screen was the same indicating no speed. This presents numerous safety risks.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 3500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and hauling a trailer, the message "Trailer Brake Disabled - Service Required" was displayed. Since new there is a violent vibration in the steering wheel and floor boards. steering wheel oscillates side to side at speed from 38mph to very bad at 65mph. Dealer has had it 5 times and still cant fix it. they state the front hub extensions are out of round and have tried 3 sets without any success. this truck is not safe to drive as it will put your hands to sleep due to the vibration. Also it will cause premature system component failure. the GM forum and Duramax forum is showing many cases nation wide with this symptom. Also there is NO provision with the current 18 inch wheel to index concentrically with the mating hubs on all four wheel locations This is mainly affection the Dually wheel Denali or high-country vehicles

The truck intermittently shuts off trailer brakes.

The truck disengages the 5th wheel trailer brakes. The DIC states "Trailer brakes disabled - service required". I intermittently lose trailer braking capability.

1 - the failed component is the tailgate. The tailgate lowers automatically without any input from me while the vehicle is in operation. It has happened three times since buying the truck in February 2024. 2 - During the third event, I was backing up my Airstream trailer into its storage building when the tailgate dropped. At that time, I was negotiating a sharp turn in reverse and the tailgate came in contact with my trailer's propane tank housing. Both the tailgate and the propane tank housing were damaged (see photos). 3 - It was not until recently that I learned of a recall for the same condition on other trucks like mine, but for some reason my truck doesn't seem to be included even though it has the same condition as those trucks that are included. The tailgate and my trailer have not yet been inspected by any third parties (manufacturer, police, insurance, etc.), and no repairs have been made yet. 4 - There were no warning signals (either visible or audible) that the tailgate was down while the truck was in operation.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the passenger’s side front tire tread was separating, and the vehicle was vibrating. The contact stated that the inner rim was bent, and additionally, the steering gear box was leaking. The steering wheel was uncontrollable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on several occasions and was diagnosed that the steering gear box was leaking and needed to be replaced. The contact also stated that the air bag chip was inoperable. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The contact was seeking a buyback. The tire and vehicle failure mileage was approximately 250.

The in cab brake controller does not work with electric over hydraulic trailer brakes. In my research to diagnose and fix the problem I find out GMC has known about this for years and has done nothing to correct. I pulled code C1114 and GMC issued a bulletin for part number (K58-036-00) which I purchased and still did not correct this issue. In short there are many 3500 trucks out there running with no trailer brakes. Here is the worst of this problem. If brakes are tested at a stop they appear to work perfectly however once driving this is when the error code is delivered to the truck so the brakes work at a stop when not needed and do not work under driving when they are needed. GMC has ignored this for years and after spending more of my hard earned money for a fix that did not fix the problem. Below I had to choose a date however this has been an issue since first purchase December 5th 2023 to present.

Vehicle caught fire minutes after remote starting. Fire appears to have started on firewall on the left side. We were about to take our kids to school vehicle could have easily caught our house and other property on fire. We did have the check engine light come on occasionally but it would always turn back off, vehicle only had about 12000 miles. Also none of the outlets inside the vehicle never worked.

Hello, I purchased my 2024 GMC 3500 AT4 Seirra late October 2023. Since the purchase date, I have been informed by motorist while at intersections my tailgate was down. I thought I was doing something wrong. On 3/3/2024 I was preparing to wash my truck and noticed my front amber lights were on surrounding my headlights. the vehicle was off, and my keys were in the house. Then my tailgate opener activated on at least 10 - 12 times. The tonneau cover is tight so the tailgate can need assistance opening. Nevertheless, the tailgate has opened on a number of occasions and my two front amber lights came on at least once. I reported this to my dealership on [XXX]. they said my truck has not been recalled yet but to watch this and if it progresses to call them. I noticed a small dent in the top rail of the tailgate on [XXX]. I have yet to put anything in the bed of the truck or even install a hitch in the receiver. I believe the tailgate had to be bumped when it was down by another vehicle, and this is absolutely related to the tailgate malfunction. since I haven't used the bed of the truck. Moreover, I feel GMC should be held responsible for the repair or replacement of my tailgate. Vehicle would crank over but not start. Diagnosed as Electronic Control Module by dealer. Part ordered on 12/6/23, GM does not have part available as of 12/27/23, vehicle unable to be driven.
