WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED, THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE AND THE BRAKES OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE PIN SLIDE HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
