Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon vehicles. The power steering assist may be lost due to a poor electrical connection within the steering gear assembly.

Risk. A loss of power steering, particularly at lower speeds increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace steering gear torque sensor cover assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 6, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N202325410.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado, and 2016 Chevrolet Volt vehicles. The driver's frontal air bag may improperly inflate during second-stage deployment in the event of a high speed crash.

Risk. An improperly inflated air bag increases the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag module, free of charge. The recall began November 8, 2017. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 17387.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado vehicles manufactured January 6, 2015, to March 17, 2015, and 2015 GMC Canyon vehicles manufactured January 6, 2015, to March 19, 2015. A poor electrical connection within the steering gear connector may cause a loss of power steering assist.

Risk. A loss or reduction in power steering assist may increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear torque sensor cover assembly, free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15595.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC Canyon trucks manufactured January 6, 2014, to December 24, 2014. The affected vehicles may experience the front brake calipers leaking brake fluid. This is due to air pockets, an imperfection in the metal caliper body.

Risk. If the vehicle experiences a brake fluid leak it can increase the stopping distance, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the front-brake calipers if necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 9, 2015. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14888.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks manufactured January 6, 2014, to April 1, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the hooks that secure the driver's and/or front passenger's seat frame may not have been properly attached to the vehicle body during assembly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems."

Risk. If the seat-frame attachment hooks are not secured properly, the seat may not be adequately anchored to the vehicle, and in the event of a crash, the seat occupant could be at an increased risk of an injury.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seats, correcting their installation as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on June 2, 2015. Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado vehicles manufactured September 15, 2014, to January 21, 2015, and 2015 GMC Canyon vehicles manufactured October 3, 2014, to December 9, 2014. The affected vehicles have a front driver air bag inflator that may be misaligned to the air bag module backplate. This can cause the inflator to separate from the backplate during a deployment.

Risk. If the inflator separates from the back plate in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, this may cause the air bag or steering wheel components to separate and be propelled into the interior compartment, potentially seriously injuring the driver or other occupants. Additionally, the air bag may fail to properly inflate, increasing the risk of injury to the driver.

Remedy. GM has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the driver air bag module inflator for proper alignment, replacing the air bag, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 19, 2015. Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon vehicles manufactured January 6, 2014, to October 1, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the driver air bag connections may have been wired incorrectly. This could reverse the deployment sequence and disrupt the deployment timing of the driver air bag. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk. If the driver air bag does not deploy as designed, there is an increased risk of driver injury in the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM), free of charge. The recall began on October 6, 2014. The Electric Power Steering (EPS) system suddenly and completely malfunctions, causing an abrupt loss of power steering assist. The power steering assist cuts out unexpectedly while driving, making the steering wheel suddenly violent and extraordinarily heavy to turn. This creates an immediate risk of a crash, as navigating curves, intersections, or avoiding obstacles becomes nearly impossible without immense physical exertion.Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center?No, a dealer has not confirmed it yet. Because the defect is highly sporadic, it has been difficult to time a service visit with the exact moment of failure.Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others?No, it has not yet been inspected by any of these entities.Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear?When the failure occurs, a "Service Power Steering" message immediately appears on the dashboard alongside an audible warning chime. Power steering goes out while driving down the road. Sometimes it works, then it doesnt, it is intermittent and I have to manually steer my vehicle when it goes out. Service power steering with care, and service stabilitrak pop up on the dash while driving. If i turn the truck off and turn it back on, sometimes that will allow the power steering to work again. I have not taken my vehicle to a dealer or service center and it has not been inspected by the manyfacturer.

Sudden power steering loss

While driving my EPS steering stop working suddenly forcing me to the side of the road where I fortunately went in a large parking area. I had the truck towed. In 2021GM replaced the steering torque sensor cover as per the recall to protect the sensor. The steering torque sensor has now failed due to I believe water intrusion. GM has refused to honor any kind of reimbursement or wrong doing. Blamed faulty replacement parts.

Request to be added to any class action lawsuits with my Colorado Truck. Truck was purchased Jan 2015. On day one the truck had a shudder that was lite but noticeable, dealer said " this is normal and as the computer gets to understand your driving it will be less noticeable" I put up with until the transmission stopped working and had to replace the Torque Converter on Jan 2022 after to warranty ran out. $2788. The trunk still has a shudder issue...if the transmission temperature is less that 120 degrees the truck will shudder as your coming to a stop. Once the temperature is over 12 degrees the shudder stopes

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety defect involving my 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. While I was driving the vehicle, it suddenly lost power steering assist. The steering wheel immediately became extremely heavy and difficult to turn, requiring significantly more physical effort to control the vehicle. This sudden loss of steering assistance created a dangerous situation for me, my passengers, and other motorists. The failure occurred without warning and substantially affected my ability to safely steer and maneuver the vehicle. A sudden loss of power steering is particularly dangerous when making turns, maneuvering at low speeds, or attempting to avoid another vehicle or obstacle. What is especially concerning is that the failure experienced by my vehicle appears to match the defect described in General Motors Safety Recall N202325410, NHTSA Campaign 21V-213, concerning loss of power steering assist in certain 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon vehicles. The NHTSA recall documentation states that affected vehicles may experience a loss of power steering assist while starting or driving because of a poor electrical connection within the steering gear assembly. The recall specifically explains that when power steering assist is lost, the vehicle reverts to manual steering and requires substantially greater steering effort, particularly at lower speeds. NHTSA and GM identified this condition as a safety defect because it can increase the risk of a crash. M

The electric power steering assembly has failed. I will be driving and my power steering will cut out with no warning, the sensor light is on constantly. Turning it off will sometimes fix it but not for long. It will affect my cruise control at times as well

Was traveling down the interstate at 75mph. The steering wheel jolted left and would not allow driver to turn the wheel back to the right causing a single vehicle accident. The vehicle left the roadway and hit the cable barrier in the median and traveled approximately 50 yards before stopping.

My 2015 Colorado has begun to periodically lose power steering. I have now several times been driving. I here a warning ding and a warning on the dash, then my power steering is completely gone. Steering becomes very difficult. This is a significant safety issue. Once I am able to safely pull out of traffic, and restart the truck, the power steering returns.

The contact was informed that the part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Since i've had my truck the passenger seat vibrates excessively while driving; the oil alert comes on even when there is oil, current oil change; seems to not have power, shifts hard. What's interesting is that these items come up when I searched on recalls. this truck is not driven hard... mehanic cant figure out what is causing the oil alert, the passenger seat shaking excessively.. and there is a recall on You Tube Truck was purchased in [XXX], 07/15 have lived in [XXX] since 11/15. Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that they discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 193,073. The contact began having unknown issues with the vehicle and obtained a Carfax report. The report indicated the vehicle was due for an oil change. The report indicated the mileage was 292,500. The Birmingham police department was contacted and referred him to the NHTSA hotline.

Will be driving and suddenly my EPS light turns on and doesn’t allow me to turn. I have sudden loss of power assist, making the steering wheel incredibly heavy to turn. Once I pull over to safety and fully turn the truck off and back on, I can generally make it to my destination as the sensor temporarily goes off. It appears there have been recalls for this, but my specific VIN was not included in the recall for some reason. Ultimately, this is extremely dangerous as I have a pretty busy route to/from work. This all randomly started happening two days ago. I am working to schedule an appointment with a local mechanic, but hoping to be included in the recall because it sounds exactly like what was happening in the recall.

The failure mileage was 115,225.

Lose his power steering while driving down the road. System says needs work on ABS when you hit a bump the radio changes itself. The anti-theft is on when key is in ignition and going down the road it's saying it's theft mode service engine light is on even after servicing the engine

The contact used excessive force to pull over, waited for several minutes, and then restarted the vehicle. The vehicle resumed normal operation after being restarted; however, the failure returned once the contact reached the driveway at the residence. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V213000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact scheduled an appointment and drove the vehicle to the dealer to be repaired. The dealer performed a diagnostic test and retrieved DTC: C0545; indicating a failure within the Steering Wheel Torque Sensor of the electric power steering (EPS) system. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was repaired under the recall prior to the contact owning the vehicle. The contact was then informed that no additional assistance would be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.

The contact owned a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the vehicle was driven and parked in the garage. Upon exiting the vehicle, the contact noticed an abnormal burning smell and smoke coming from under the hood. It was unknown whether a warning had illuminated. The contact opened the hood and noticed that the engine compartment had caught on fire. The contact closed the hood and attempted to restart the vehicle to drive out of the garage; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact shifted to neutral(N) and was able to push the vehicle out of the garage. The contact stated that the vehicle burned significantly from the front end to the windshield. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. No fire department report was filed. No police report was filed. There was no injury sustained. There was no property damage. The contact stated that the vehicle was a total loss and was in the process of being towed to a salvage yard. The vehicle did not have full insurance coverage but had liability coverage. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

My truck lost steering 3 times already and i brought to dealership twice with them telling it can't be fixed! first tine jan of 2024 and also jan of this year
