While driving and attempting to make a right hand turn, all of the sudden the power steering went out. There were warnings that stated traction control was out and power steering were out. There were also warning chimes. But these did not happen BEFORE i lost control. I almost hit another vehicle that was at the stop sign on the street I was attempting to turn onto. It jerked the steering wheel out of my hands. Luckily I was going slow enough to stop and not collide with the other vehicle. This has happened on several occasions, but luckily it hasn't been that close to a collision except that time. Once I turn the truck off and start it again, I will have steering control back. I understand that this is a recall issue for my year, make, and model; but apparently not for the month my truck was produced. This is an extremely dangerous problem as it just happens all of the sudden. Losing complete steering control while driving on the highway is extremely scary, as there isn't always a safe place to pull over and turn off the truck. There have been times that luckily I have a passenger in the truck with me to help maneuver the steering wheel because I can't turn it on my own. This problem really should be addressed for all these vehicles manufactured in 2015. Apparently it is an issue. I have read many forums regarding this exact problem.

Electric power steering assist failed. Pictures were taken to demonstrate lack of compliance with GM recall rework procedure.(procedure attached see pages 7&8)The dealer kept the old assembly as there was a core charge of $150 for the unit, which they returned to GM. Truck was extremely difficult to steer and maintain control. Dealership evaluated and said the steering assembly had to be replaced due to a communications error. The warning indicators came on at the same time as the steering failure. SR:9-14338761808 opened with GM, response was negative.

The power steering just stops working. I find a safe place to stop and turn the truck off. It must reset and when restarting the power steering comes back. You never know when the will happen as there is no warning. Making a turn at speeds is unsafe. You are driving with the power steering and halfway through the turn it just gets super hard to turn. A smaller person would have a very hard time turning the wheel. It has been happening for some time but recently it happens every day. I see there was a recall but my vin didn't show a recall for this truck but it should.

No luck and still no good running car , missing work and spending money we don’t have I read online about other trucks my same year and model having a recall on a temperature door. Causing it to overheat and a lot of people have had the same issue as I’m having. I looked up my truck. It doesn’t have it listed on the recall list but I’m sure that it’s the same issue

After dropping my Dad off at his appt. at Truman VA in Columbia I was pulling in the parking garage and the steering became VERY hard to turn..A light came on that said something about servicing the steering or something like that..I got it in a place to park and turned it off..after his appt I ran out and got in the truck and after starting it the steering worked perfect..2 hours later when we got home it felt different when I turned in the driveway and then it started wobbling like the wheels were falling off. I stopped it, turned off the motor, restarted it and it worked fine again..when we ask the Dealership, 30 miles from us is closest one, they said there wasn't any recalls on it so we'd have to bring it in they would check it out and something about $400 or $500 probably to fix it...i see all these other trucks that got recalled why not his? very dangerous..any chance ya'll can do some looking in to this for us? The power steering system on my vehicle malfunctioned. I was turning at speed when all of a sudden the power steering failed without any warning messages. Turning the vehicle was nearly uncontrollable, putting myself, my passengers, and other drivers at risk. This is a known issue with the same make, model and year of my vehicle, however the manufacturer refuses to address the issue with my specific vehicle. This is the same issue that is addressed under 21V213. I have reported this issue before in the past, and called GM about it, however they will not fix the issue.

While driving at highway speeds, our 2015 Chevrolet Colorado suddenly experienced loss of power assisted steering. I was able to steer the vehicle, but there was no power assist. This happened suddenly, with no advance warning lights. At the time of the incident, the driver information center displayed "check power steering". The sudden loss surprised me and although the vehicle was driveable, the steering was very difficult and a large amount of effort was required to park the truck. I am very glad this did not happen while my wife was driving the vehicle. Upon restarting the truck after a key off cycle, the code and the symptom disappeared. We were able to drive the truck home without the failure occurring, only to drive it again the next day and experience the failure a second time. Once again, the symptom disappeared after a key cycle. We researched the issue on line and found a recall N202325410 that described the same issue that we experienced. However, our trucks VIN is not included in the recall. This is disturbing to me, because our truck displayed the exact symptoms described in the recall. I repaired the truck using the GM approved recall repair procedure, which was to replace the steering torque sensor cover. We have safely driven the truck with no further loss of the power assist for 2 weeks. If we had known this could be an issue, we would have addressed it pro-actively. Instead, we experienced a failure on the highway. I am relieved that no accident occurred, b

At highway speeds, the Service Power Steering System and the Traction Control light appears on the interment cluster message center and the vehicle becomes difficult to steer safely because the electronic power steering assist is turned off. To make the vehicle operational one must stop, turn off the vehicle and turn it back on. This will allow the power steering electronics to continue to operate normally until the next time when it suddenly cuts the power steering off again. I looked on this website and I see tons of recalls and complaints about this issues. My vehicle has over 200K highway miles and I am not expecting the manufacture to to cover the cost of this repair, but I also don't believe it is a $2K total Power Steering System replacement either. There has to be a few hundred dollar wiring repair that can be completed to make the system reliable again.

2015 Chevy Colorado power steering has been going out while driving, often on the highway. very hard to steer/turn. several times have to try to put truck in neutral, turn off the truck, turn it back on to get it to come back on... all while doing 65-70mph on the highway. I took it to my mechanic last night, and today I'm told, there has been a recall issued for this issue. Call GM and talk to them. I do, and am told after giving VIN, for whatever reasons, my specific truck is not included in the recall - and yet I fight with the wheel trying not to run off the road or slam into someone else as I try to pull over - which is what this safety recall is all about. All out of pocket expense to me and am told, by GM, even if they do later include my truck in this recall for this problem, they could reimburse me but I most likely won't get reimbursed due to age of the truck and now it has 110,000 k miles on it. WHAT?! I'm sure this is a common type of problem with recalls but for those of us who are on tight income, this is highly stressful and a major problem - for dealing with the car itself and feeling screwed over by the company/laws/whatever excuse they want to say. Truck is now in the shop and going to get fixed cause I don't want to freaking die while driving and somehow I have to figure out how to pay the thousands of dollars to fix it.

Lost power steering twice in while traveling 70mph on interstate highway. Specifically, I lost power steering and got lights for loss of "Stabilitrak." I had to pull over to turn off the truck, and power steering returned upon turning back on the vehicle. No loss of power steering fluid was noted. This incident repeated itself exactly the same several days later. Upon taking to the mechanic, they confirmed with the following: "We've confirmed an intermittent issue with the power steering, identified by the retrieval of the C0545 code for the steering torque sensor. Upon conducting a thorough data test, we observed erratic signals from the steering wheel torque sensor. We meticulously inspected all connections, finding no issues. Furthermore, our testing revealed that the torque sensor circuits are not shorted to power or ground, and there are no instances of resistance or opens. We recommend replacing and programming the electronic steering gear assembly, as the steering torque sensor is integrated into it." Final repairs and replacement of the steering gear assembly cost approximately $2500.00

Had 3 instances of loss of power steering while driving, first time at 5-10 mph, 4/2/2024, then on way home 2 times speeds approx. 45 mph. When checked with a vehicle diagnostic machine it was learned that I had a Loss Of Power Steering Assist. Extreme safety hazard and I've been quoted a fix/repair will cost approx. $3,500.00. Local dealership advised me to contact GM, who then advised me to contact NHTSA. Frustrating that there was a recall, and the publication does not show VIN specificity, recall # N202325410-01.
